I had heard so many great things about cruising with Royal and for the most part the staff was friendly & helpful....until one of our group injured themselves the last day on the ship. She fell on the deck near where the towel pick up desk is, the staff nearby did NOT know how to get a hold of medical, they moved her before medical arrived finally when they should not have, the doctor's bed side manners were atrocious. The nurse was wonderful. Was not a pleasant experience at all. Early on in the cruise there was an incident at the teen dance club FUEL, a 12 or 13 year old girl pulled a pocket knife out to another group of teenagers! That was very concerning for me as my son was always socializing in that club or the Livingroom section for teens. How does a knife get through security? Also, noticed coming onto ship that the lady that was supposed to be watching the items go through the scan was on her cell phone and not paying attention to the scan screen. Another security officer there asked her if she was watching the screen and she then put her phone down. So perhaps that is how a knife got on. Scary as a mother though. The food was great, our room attendant Claudius was wonderful. Guest services could have been more friendly in my opinion but I guess everyone has bad day's. The shows were good too. Comedian's hilarious. All staff should know how to contact medical in case of injuries or emergency and I cannot believe they didn't know something so basic. I don't believe I will ever cruise with Royal again as safety should be their first priority.

First cruise was pretty good until one of our group was injured on last day

Cabin Review

Cabin 14614
We had 4 people in the room, the couch is turned into a double bed every evening by the attendant. Although was quite tight with 4 in room, there were so many places to put your luggage and items. Room Attendant was awesome.

  • Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
We just stayed at a hotel night before cruise left, we stayed at the Hilton fort Lauderdale marina and it was pleasant. We ate at the Cheesecake factory and what a great meal and service!

  • Ziplining
The actual zipline was exciting. The only complaint I had was, a staff member was very kurt and rude when speaking to our group. When I told her I thought she was being rude, her attitude then changed and rest of time was fine.
The roller coaster was great too and very reasonable price wise. If you are planning on eating at Labadee on shore, make sure you are there before 2-2:30 pm as all the food was taken down by the time we got there to have a bite, juice was also gone. I would recommend Royal puts up a sign so guests know time food/drinks are available on the island.

  • Horseback Riding
The actual horseback riding was wonderful. It was a wonderful horseback ride but after our ride, we got back on the bus who took us to where we started and Jeff the owner of the Horseback riding and ATV adventure got on the bus, this was about 1:45 pm and said we had to get off bus for another 1/2 hour as the excursion must be 4 hours he said. We explained we needed to be back on the ship for 2:30 pm and it was about a 1/2 hour bus ride back to the port. None of us wanted to go back up top and get food or a drink but we were made to wait. Then our bus driver stopped at the Columbus shopping square and said this was a good place to get souvenirs...at this point we were already LATE and couldn't believe the driver did not know what time we had to be back at the port. Very stressful. So the ship was made to wait for us 18 passengers. I went to Guest services to inform them of what happened so they could look into it and perhaps avoid having this excursion be late getting back to port but she didn't seem too concerned and said she'd report to the Excursion team. Someone from that department did call me in room next day and after explaining what had happened she said Yes the excursion does need to be 4 hours....What the heck, so make the ship late ?? I was not impressed by Royal's response. This caused all of us stress as we were late and had to hustle down the port as all the employee's were waiting to have us on so ship could leave. I know passengers are assured the ship won't leave so long as excursion is booked through Royal but this was unnecessary!!

  • St. Maarten
We walked a few streets back from the port and got a taxi tour for $20 per person, he took us to Orient beach and also the Airport where the planes fly in so close to the beach. A plane was coming in when we were there so that was interesting to see live.
