This was our first ocean cruise - so I don't have much to compare it with from a cruise perspective (though we are pretty well-travelled and have previously done a river cruise in Europe). Embarkation and disembarkation were generally very smooth (apart from one occasion when we had to queue for well over an hour for a tender to get back on the ship at Savusavu). The decor on the ship (including the cabin) is undoubtedly a little 'tired" though quite comfortable. The highlight was the food in the restaurants (as opposed to the buffet in the Horizon). We had a particularly good meal in Sabatini's. The service was also generally pretty good. The entertainment was also generally enjoyable (though 'popular' rather than 'sophisticated'.) The dancers in the shows were excellent. The ship often felt very crowded - but because this was our first ocean cruise I don't know if this is simply to be expected. We took three 'shore excursions' through Princess (as well as one we organised independently). While these were pretty pricey they were also of a good quality. The highlight was a day spent at "South Sea Island" - very relaxing and pleasant (and not crowded!). I used the gym a fair bit (to try and at least partly compensate for all that food!) and never had trouble getting on the equipment (actually it was one of the least crowded parts of the ship). While the basic cost of the cruise itself is pretty reasonable - there's a lot of attempted 'upselling' which can get a bit tiring, though I understand it's all part of the cruise line's business model. Overall, it's more 'mass market' than 'upmarket' experience but priced accordingly.
