We chose this cruise because it left from Jacksonville, FL and went to Key West, FL and Nassau Bahamas, two places we had never been. Our travel agent warned us that it was an old ship. The ship did show its age, but everything was clean and nothing needed repair. The highlight of the cruise for us was the efficiency and friendliness of the crew. Our head waiter Joseph was the best we have had on our different cruises. My wife eats gluten free (we made arrangements with the maître de for the GF menu). Joseph made sure she had the proper food each night and gave her two deserts one night when she could not decide on one. He was very efficient, pleasant, fun to talk to and made us feel special. He and the people who worked with him are an asset to Carnival. It would be nice if every waiter made you feel special, as Joseph did. The other crew member who I want to thank and praise is Yoga, our cabin steward. He kept our room immaculately clean and gave us great towel animals each night. He also was very pleasant and efficient. The buffet food for breakfast and lunch was very good. The gluten free pizzas were exceptionally good.. The dinner entrees were also very good, with exceptionally good deserts (especially the chocolate cake). The entertainment was mediocre. We did not care for the musical revues. The music was designed for a much younger audience. Merl Hobbs was one of the comedians and he was very funny. He did one show appropriate for all ages and one very funny adult show. The other comedian, Carl Faulkenberry was funny, but not as funny as Merl. The weather could not have been better. Temps in the mid 80's each day. Our tours on Key West and Nassau were excellent. I booked them myself, prior to the cruise. I reviewed them on TripAdvisor. All in all a very enjoyable cruise and we would choose Elation again if it was going to the ports we wanted to visit.

Cabin Review

Ocean View
Cabin 6E M211
The cabin was large and efficient. The shower was the largest we have had on any cruise. The only problem we had was making sure the floor drain stayed open so that water did not go onto the bathroom floor. We had plenty of drawer space and hangers in the large closet. As I mentioned above, Yoga kept our room very clean and gave us great towel animals.

Embarkation and debarkation were handled extremely well. Wait times boarding and leaving ship were minimal and were inside the terminal. A pleasant experience.

Tyrone Wilson Tours is a local tour company I found on TripAdvisor. It was a two hour tour and was excellent. Our driver, Kevin, was very familiar with all the designated sops we made and gave us more history and antecdotes than we could remember. We stopped at Atlantis, a Rum Cake bakery, a rum distillery, a chocolate factory and the Queen's Steps. All in all, this was a fabulous tour for the money and Kevin made it superior.
