  3. Wind Star
My wife and I did this cruise on Dec. 16-23. It is our second with the Windstar line and 14th overall. We picked this trip because of the given itinerary ( three days in the Grenadines) was new for us. Here is our observations: Embarkation: was very smooth and quick. The reps met us at the terminal and collected our luggage. Ten minutes later a bus took us to the ship and the paperwork took us only five minutes to process. Once your issued your sea pass, your room steward will escort you to your room and will point out where everything is at. Room: very comfortable, spacious. Had plenty of storage. Wife liked the built-in table/dinette area. Bathroom was well lit and organized. Dining: all the meals were great. Breakfast and lunch in the Veranda was varied. Each meal had a buffet area with fruit, meat and cereals. The hot station had eight different items to choose from and a menu with five to six choices. What was nice was it never felt crowded or rushed at either meal. Dinner was nice, open seating to meet new people each night and a great four course menu with five different entrée choices. Ship: it was very comfortable. Enjoyed sitting up by the pool or in the lounge. There were 129 passengers (out of a max of 148) for this trip and I never felt crowded at any time. Ports: if you a lover of beach time, this is the trip for you. Grand Anse beach in Grenada, Dover beach in Barbados, Tobago Cays and Mayreau beaches were ideal. The taxi ride in Bequia was fun for us to research a couple of resorts for future trips. Service: what made us give this review a five star was the crew. Hands down was the best we ever had in our thirteen years of cruising. The wait staff in the dining areas and the bar staff remembered we were drinking diet coke and ginger ale and would have glasses ready as we were sitting down. That is just one example of the outstanding service we experienced from everyone on board this ship. There are four members of the crew we would like to extend special cudos to: Azhar (Cabin Steward): While showing us the room, Azhar had mentioned the laundry service and showed us how to fill out the form correctly. He would then follow up with us each day to see if we had anything to have cleaned. When he showed us the mini bar, he asked what we liked to drink and immediately brought extra of the diet coke. Each day he would ask if there was anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable. Gretchan (Receptionist): She knew our names before we had even met her. She greeted us personally the first day on the way to breakfast. She made us a personalized Christmas card, which was very sweet. My husband would saran aid her when we went through the lobby and got her some Skittles for just being her. Phillipe (Cruise Director): when our excursion did not meet the required number of people, he went to the vendor and made it happen. This was crucial because this catamaran trip to the location has been on my bucket list for ten years and he made it happen. His enthusiasm at the port talks and at trivia was welcomed. Jeffrey (Executive Chef): on the first day we met up with Jeff and asked him if he ever did an excursion with guests when he went shopping in port. He said he had not but had no problem joining us for a trip to the Farmers Market in Grenada. He met us at reception and over the next two hours spent his time this us helping us pick out different spices. Whenever we saw him on the ship he would come and talk to us at length. Overall this cruise was a great success, Those who would like to try the small cruise experience will have a delightful time taking this ship on any itinerary.

It was the crew that makes it so special.
