Norwegian Escape Cruise Review by esp13
- Sail Date: December 2016
- Destination: Eastern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: The Haven Owner's Suite with Large Balcony
Embarkation and disembarkation were both smooth and fairly quick at the Port of Miami. We were staying in the Haven, so had priority embarkation and disembarkation which is a nice perk.
The ship itself is beautiful and well laid out. Had no problems getting around or finding places. The 678 Ocean place is a good concept that makes it easy to find most of the main dining and entertainment options. The Haven is a a wonderful "ship within a ship" concept and we thoroughly enjoyed the lounge, restaurant, and sun deck.
We stayed in 18100, a Owner's Suite with Large Balcony. The balcony had two loungers as well as a table and chairs and even though it faced forward, it was comfortable for hanging out both during the day and evening.
The dining options were plentiful and we enjoyed Food Republic, Cagney's, Teppenyaki, La Cucina, as well as the Haven restaurant. The food was excellent in all venues. The service was also attentive and friendly.
We didn't do a lot of activities, but there definitely seemed to be a lot going on at all times. The shore excursions in St. Thomas and Tortola were fantastic. Definitely recommend the St. John's Champagne and Snorkel in St. Thomas and the Escape to Jost Van Dyke on Tortola.
I would definitely do this ship and itinerary again.

St. John Snorkel/SailWe did the St. John's Champagne Sail and Snorkel excursion booked through NCL. The boat captain (Theresa) and crew (Brandon and Connor) were friendly and a lot of fun. The sail over was great and the snorkeling was a lot of fun. The party really begins on the way back and we had a blast. Can't recommend this enough.View All 180 St. John Snorkel/Sail Reviews
Jost Van DykeWe did the Escape to Jost Van Dyke booked through NCL. The catamaran, Rebel Yell, takes you from the ship to the beach. The trip over and back is a lot of fun, but beware that you will get soaked if you sit up front (totally worth it though).View All 90 Jost Van Dyke Reviews
The catamaran put us right at the Soggy Dollar where Painkillers abound. There are plenty of chairs and a great swimming area. I recommend the early departure time because the beach does get crowded as more people arrive later in the morning. All in all, it's a fantastic beach break.
