It was our sixth cruise on Celebrity and unfortunately this time we found the overall experience disappointing. The approach of Celebrity to now charge extra for so many services really cheapens its image and makes one question the company's attitude towards its guests. Example: Celebrity now imposes a $15 fee per passenger for using the ship's shuttle bus to reach a center of town from the rather distant spots where the boat docks. Plus, in a port where we stayed 2 days (Dubrovnik) the $15 payment was required each day. Another minor, yet telling example - $3 to wash a pair of socks - truly a nickel and dime approach to treating a customer. The shore excursions were also way too expensive for the value received. Example - $88 charge for basically a bus ride to see Krka Falls near Split. As far as providing an interesting itinerary, of the 6 ports visited, the selection of 2, Ravenna and Zadar has to be questioned as well. In fact, the ship stopped in Zadar on a Sunday when most of the town was closed. The on-board entertainment was also below what we experienced in the past. While the shows in the main theater were fine, the music in the lounges was generally rather mediocre and in some instances so loud that it was intolerable. During this cruise, we spoke to others who have sailed in the past on Celebrity and sadly, they had similar opinions about the decline they are seeing.
