Having been on several ocean cruises this was our first river cruise and it outstripped other cruising by a mile. Every single aspect was superb. The staff were amazing, every single person seem absolutely determined that we should have the perfect experience, the service was the best I've experienced. Embarkation and disembarkation was handled with great efficiency and comfort, excellent taxi services arranged to take us to our next destination. The food was to die for, and I loved the way the executive chef (George), would come out every night before dinner and give us a synopsis of what we were about to eat. Great the way he would go to the local markets every day to ensure the produce was the freshest and best. Fabulous the way everything was inclusive, especially having all the shore excursions paid for. We had some wonderful 'whole of ship' experiences; being taken to Marksberg castle for a medieval dinner was a high point, as was a private concert at the Lichtenstein Palace in Vienna. A special mention of the cruise director Hunor Nagy, for whom nothing was too much trouble. He went to the trouble of organising a special excursion to the Spanish Riding School for a small group of us who were disappointed to find we were not there on a day when there was a performance. There were several occasions when local entertainers were brought on board, and they were of an extremely high calibre, my favourite being the Hungarian dancers in Budapest. We were lucky to have perfect weather, too!

Cabin Review

Cabin BB217
The cabin was fine - a little small but adequate and adequate storage. The bathroom was a great size. The one criticism I would make is that it would have been good to have drawers on both sides of the bed. The other point that we puzzled over, was the reason for the glass doors in between the cabin and the balcony - they seemed redundant to us and I think it would have made the cabin seem bigger if they had not been there, also if there hadn't been a change of flooring at that point. The biggest suggestion we would make to scenic is re laundry, which was a bugbear. It would be really helpful if there was either an on-board laundry (although I appreciate that space is at a premium), or that laundry was included in the (necessarily increased) cost.
