We chose this cruise as we were 3 families with varying ages of kids. We also chose it because our cruise agent told us it was brand new and unlike the other ships we had been on previously. The ship is brand new and spotless. It has everything you could wish for entertainment-wise: Imax theatre in 3D; thrill 4d theatre; Huge waterpark with waterworks; 3 swimming pools; sky ride; mini golf etc etc. Cabins: The cabins are like all other cabins. Except we were on the 9th floor which was under the Lido deck and there was a lot of noise all day and all night. You could clearly hear when people were walking above you, closing doors etc etc and we had to complain about the noise a few times. Food: Average at best. The buffet is actually below average - really small for the amount of people on board and the food is just OK. The main dining area had a fancy sounding menu but the food was also just a bit better than the buffet. We only ate there twice as the food was average but we found the staff in the dining room (the ladies that assign seating) to have a really bad, condescending attitude. We ate at the speciality restaurants twice and they were also OK - better than the buffet or dining room but nothing compared to other speciality restaurants on other similar cruise lines (like Royal Caribbean or Celebrity). Staff: Our Cabin attendant was great and very attentive; Matt (Cruise director) needs a raise and a medal - he was the hardest working person on board. Dining and waiting staff: the majority looked really unhappy and were actually unpleasant at times. Kids Club: Our daughter was 23 months at the time of the cruise and we were told she would be able to go to the kids club. Unfortunately they would not let her in as she was not yet 2 but if we were prepared to pay then she could go to the kids club at certain times. They also have rules about kids under 2 in swimming pools and the water park (they are not allowed in according to USA law) so keep this in mind when booking a summer holiday. Pools: As I said, kids under 2 are not allowed in the pools but drunk adults are allowed to swim with the kids around (one was so drunk he got sick in the pool and they had to drain it). This was really offensive to people with kids. Entertainment: Shows seemed good and the dive in movies were fantastic. Shore excursions: Totally overpriced One big negative: there is no central atrium so you feel as if you are in a large apartment block instead of a cruise ship. Conclusion: Overall the ship is more of 3.5-4 stars. We would probably not travel on Carnival again due to the food.
