Since our flight was delayed, embarking was quite easy and our luggage practically followed us to our very small room with an even smaller bathroom. I never saw such a small shower. Good luck if you are even slightly large. Our cabin steward was very nice and after greeting us called us by name from then on. I give him an excellent rating. Our first 2 days were sea days. There are 2 pools, both over 5 foot in depth so if you're short good luck. The pool with the retractable covering was spa like, soft music, nice deck lounges however the ceiling was never open. The bar staff on the decksI give them a 2, they weren't very friendly and sometimes non existent. Music on deck - I heard the same songs every day, that is when it wasn't recorded. This is the only ship line that I know that you can buy cigarettes on board however you can't have them until the day you leave so you have to buy them at the bar-at a premium and not much of a selection, so bring them with you or buy them in port. The dining rooms were very pretty however we had a waiter who was sorely lacking in service and personality. He was training a new helper so all the nice amenities you look for were lacking. It took 5 days, out of 10 before our table was ready for us. The food was okay, the service-not so much. I guess since it was Princess I expected spectacular. The only spectacular was eating at Sabatini's the added expense restaurant. This was well worth the $20.00 fee. The buffet-I'll give that an ok there too. If you weren't there at noon a lot of things were already gone and they weren't too quick to refill them. The pizza station and grill both did a great job, however this ship is also one of the few where you had to pay for ice cream. Our favorite stop before dinner was the martini bar-great drinks, great service. A big disappointment, the dining room is only opened for lunch for a very short time. When you were off the boat on a tour and came back hot and hungry the dining room did not extend its hours, it was the buffet-what was left or nada. As far a room service-always on time but a very limited menu of items unless you paid an additional fee for a brunch or dinner. Entertainment-the shows were good and they had a variety of dance reviews, comics etc. but activities during the day. I would say mostly for the senior citizens. This is not a cruise for younger people-not all that much going on. Vacationing is great and its what you make of it, however our stops were disappointing, not enough time in Aruba, cruising through the locks of Panama-what we came to see-this boat is not set up for great views from on board so camp out on the deck so you can be right in the front to have a view through the shields. Way too much time in Cristobal, nothing to do, Cartagena-would have liked more time here, Limon, other than a tour-a real PIT-awful awful awful, Ocho Rios-fun stop, climb the Falls, do some shopping and stay away from the drug sellers on every corner. Overall we had a good time traveling with friends, seeing new sights and just being on vacation, but after trying a Princess cruise and a Carnival cruise, I think I'd try another carnival.

I EXPECTED SO MUCH MORE

  • Aruba
Our first stop which I was so looking forward to. We disembarked at 7:30 and only had 5 hours here. How disappointing since nothing opened until later. We took a quick tour of the island on a tour bus- a waste of money. We would have been better off grabbing a taxi. We left the tour at the resort area so we could at least see the beach which was beautiful but being on a time restraint I stuck my foot in the water and we were off to the shopping areas. Great place for jewelry I think this stop should be extended so you could actually see a little of the island.

  • Cartagena (Colombia)
At this port we had booked a tour to the Popas monastery, the Fort and shopping. Luckily we had an excellent tour guide-Walter (look him up, he was the best) very informative. The view from the monastery is spectacular however you see a lot of poverty on your way. We only had a quick stop at the fort-the vendors were in your face. The newer shopping area was nice-again vendors in your face-great place to buy emeralds, and the store clerks were very helpful. Since we didn't have a lot of time here while I was looking at gems, the clerk got me coffee and cigarettes. Old town-a rat maze to try to do on your own. You could spend hours here at all the little shops but once againnot a lot of time to see or explore anything.

I see this one isn't even listed. Cristobal, Panama and there's a reason it isn't listed. A pit! If you didn't book a tour to get off the ship there was a marketplace at the dock with natives selling their wares, same stuff different stand. The artwork and craftsmanship were beautiful however trying to spend hours in this port_What a waste of time. should have cut down timewise here and spent more time in Aruba or Cartagena

  • Ocho Rios
We booked a tour to the botanical gardens, shopping and climbing the Dunn;s River falls. The gardens were beautiful, photo opportunities-plentiful and this would have been great if we wouldn't have had a photographer and videographer following us at every corner trying to hawk their dvd. Climbing the falls was great fun but not for the physically unfit. Walking hand in hand up the falls is quite strenuous and when you have people who aren't physically up to the challenge it makes for quite a work out trying to haul dead weight behind you. When you finish your climb you have to walk through a maze of pushy vendors trying to sell you their crap and drugs to get back to the bus-not fun at all. In the shopping area, if you haven't bought jewelry at any other port, there are great buys here.

Limon, Costa Rica. We booked a canopy tour at this site. What a great experience. I was a little leery of trying this however our guides were great, I felt safe and this was a once in a lifetime experience I will remember forever. The marketplace and town though again what a pit. Since it was a Sunday, most things weren't open even though I don't think it would have mattered. This place was awful. So Book a tour.
