My husband and I took this cruise as a reward for a difficult winter full of medical problems. We flew to FL from Philly on the March 28th as I always like to make sure our luggage arrives at the same time we do!!. No problems with luggage or hotel. We stayed at a Hampton Inn that picked us up at the airport and took us to the port. Sunday we arrived at the port around 1pm and zipped through the embarkation with no delay. This was our 2nd cruise on the Zuiderdam and it was great to see the renovations. The ship was beautiful and we didn't notice anything that needed repair or refurbishing. Our room was an ocean view on the mail deck, mid-ship, and it was fine. The price was right. We prefer a balcony, but since the price was good we stayed with the ocean view. We dined in various restaurants and loved the Pinnacle Grill. Make reservations as soon as you board in order to get a good date, time and location. I requested a window seat and that's where we sat. The main dining room was perfect and we had no problem with seating. We didn't do the set seating as 5:45 was too early and 8pm was too late. No need for reservations. Also, we encountered few lines in the Lido Grill. My husband uses a cane and the staff were always right there offering help with his tray. We had perfect weather and truly enjoyed the stern pool. Be sure to have sunscreen as it was very hot. We love the casino and the staff was great. Be sure to look for Bobby and Beth. Also, the entertainment was wonderful. There was a great steel drum band that played classical and broadway songs. The best addition was Richard who gave several lectures on Panama and Costa Rica. If he's on your cruise, be sure to attend his lectures. The ports were good, but we weren't particularly impressed with Aruba. The Panama Canal and Costa Rica were our favorites. Overall, this was a wonderful cruise and we had no complaints. We love Holland America and feel that they are particularly good for people with canes, wheelchairs, etc.

Cabin Review

Cabin 1056
Cabin was fine with plenty of storage. We had an oceanview room on the main deck, mid-ship. The bed was wonderful with very soft sheets and fabulous pillows. It was quiet.
