Empress of the Seas Cruise Review by npescato
- Sail Date: June 2016
- Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We were on the ship within 20 minutes of handing off our luggage. The same goes for when we left, we were off the ship and through customs within a half hour.
I stayed in an interior state room with my boyfriend and it was the perfect size for two people who just needed the room to sleep in and get ready in. If you are someone who hangs out in the room a lot I would suggest a larger room. Although the bathroom was very small, there's not much you can do to fix that. Although the drawers were small, there was enough closet space to hang up both mine and my boyfriends clothes. We had no problems with our plumbing,AC, or anything else in the room. The AC was actually really strong which surprised me.
We chose the later dinning option (8:45pm) with our two other friends in the main dining room. The wait staff was AMAZING. Jeoffrey and Ronaldo were simply the best. Also, the gentleman who took the drink orders knew our favorite drinks by the second night which was great. They were practically waiting for us at the table when we arrived. The food was good, however, our friends missed the lobster and prime rib night because they changed it last minute. The best part was that the waiters had no problem bringing two entrees to some people who couldn't decide what they wanted!
There were SO many activities which made it impossible to be bored. I enjoyed bingo the most because I won the raffle and got 25% off of my excursion. The live shows were amazing and the comedy show made us laugh so much we were practically crying. We even met the comedians at the Viking Crown Lounge and got to chat with them! One of the activity coordinators, Mark, was awesome! He was so funny, had the best attitude, and even hung out with our group at the VCL.
We chose the stingray excursion at Grand Cayman. Great captain and crew. They boat was not crowded and the entire experience was something we will never forget. We didn't do much exploring of the island, but others recommended going to the beach. At Key West we booked a snorkeling excursion through Fury and saved money. Snorkeling the reef was fun and the boat gave free drinks on the way back!
Overall we had an amazing week and would recommend the Empress of the Seas to anyone!

Stingray SwimGreat experience! The captain and crew made the experience even better. Lots of boats at the sandbar but plenty of time to interact with the stingrays. $50 for pictures that get emailed to you but if you're splitting the cost with someone it isn't too badView All 709 Stingray Swim Reviews
SnorkelingBooked with Fury right when we got off the dock. Plenty of time to snorkel and walk around before heading back to the boat. Great captain and crew who gave free beer, wine, and soda to the guestsView All 46 Snorkeling Reviews
