  3. Island Princess
Embarkation in Ft Laud was simple and quick. Once on board we were very impressed with the Island Princess. It is elegant, classy and beautiful. We enjoyed every bit of the ship. Did not feel crowded at all. You could find a quiet place anywhere on the ship, unless you wanted to be in the main pool area. We heard there were 225 kids onboard and I think they were all at the pool because that was the only crowded noisy area we saw. We booked a balcony cabin that was very nice. The shower seemed smaller than other cruises we have taken on NCL and RCL, but it met its purpose. The service was great. We felt that everyone was willing to go beyond to help. We met a head waiter in the Bordeaux dining room named Hector, he was very professional and was always able to get our restricted meals due to allergies out perfectly. He made us feel comfortable with our requests and we did not even have to look for him, he was always there once we arrived. We had requested first seating but were told that it was full so we were placed on a waiting list. When we boarded our card said "anytime" seating. That was the only setback for us in this cruise. Anytime seating means that you can show up at anytime, but you have to wait in a line. The line was formed right outside the dining room and sometimes we waited 20 mins, other nights it was 45 mins. They could put a different system in place to give pagers for people to go and sit somewhere to wait. We were given a pager once, so we know they have them but for some reason they did not give them out everytime. The girl at the entrance was not very good because once we were taken back we noticed that there were a lot of empty tables. The couple behind us was seated next to us 15 mins after we were seated and the table was empty right next to ours. So I don't know who is at fault, but their system is definitely not very good. The food was "ok". Nothing to brag or complain about. We were not impressed with the food in the main cafeteria called Horizon Court. Not enough selection and the taste was definitely not up to the RCL standards that we are used to. Overall the cruise was wonderful, very relaxing and one that we enjoyed very much. Princess met our expectations.

  • Aruba
We were only in Aruba for 5 hrs so not much to do. We walked around downtown and did some shopping, but didn't get to do anything else.

  • Cartagena (Colombia)
We loved Cartagena. We took a tour that took us all ove the city and to the major spots. The guide was wonderful and very informative. We felt safe at all times. This is a must see. It was interesting that on the ship the tour desk announces Cartagena as "welcome to the third world". We thought that was very arrogant and indeed it was. Cartagena's skyline has nothing to envy Miami's skyline. The bay is beautiful and the city has the taste of colonial with modern. They need to become more educated on this port. Definitely a place to go back to and enjoy more time in.

  • Colon (Cristobal)
We were told by the cruise director not to go out to Colon because even the authorities there did not recommend it. We took a tour after going through the locks in Gatun Lake. It was a 1.5 hrs drive to Panama City. It was nice to see Panama City and visit the old area, but the drive was crazy and long. Next time we will pass and stay on the ship. When we returned to Colon, the area was very filthy and did not seem safe at all. So we agree that unless you do a tour, stay on the ship, go out to shop at the shopping area where they let you off for 3 hrs and get back on.

  • Ocho Rios
We took a tour to Coyaba Gardens and Dunn's River Falls. Although we enjoyed the tour, there was a lot of wasted time. Coyaba Gardens is pretty but you are taken at a slow pace to make time and then you have to stand around for almost 20 mins although you are told not to do any shopping there. Then you are taken to a place where they want you to shop and then to the falls. You can view the falls from the top, but it is still quiet a walk from the parking lot. It's not an even terrain, there are steep hills to walk up/down.

  • Puerto Limon
I have no idea why any cruise line stops here for almost the entire day. Unless you take a tour, there is absolutely nothing to do. Even the park you can walk to is empty and not well taken care of. The stores were closed when we went because it was holy thursday. The town is dirty and not in the best condition for tourism. Cruise lines should rethink stopping at this port. Maybe it's their way of forcing us to take tours or be bored to death.
