We booked this cruise in January 2015 mainly to experience a new culture in PNG. When we booked ( 6 in our group) the cruise started in Sydney and ended in Brisbane so we all booked flights from Brisbane to Sydney. About a month before we sailed our travelling friends discovered the cruise now ended in Sydney which was great news so we contacted Princess to book the Bri to Syd leg. We were informed the cruise was sold out and there were no cabins left but we could be placed on the wait list which we did.Eventually we were able to get an inside cabin after much frustration. The embarkation went rather well although ( due to going to PNG) we needed to complete three different forms and there were insufficient tables/writing areas for the 2,000 odd passengers. The ship was very clean, the balcony cabin was much smaller than we expected and there was no lounge. The variety of meals was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive and the cabins were clean and tidy. We had our cabin boy open the divisions between our three cabins so we had a very long balcony and could sit and chat or even enjoy the occasional drink together. The quality and variety of the entertainment was poor as every second night we had the Princess Singers and dancers and each performance lasted around 30 minutes. This was unsatisfactory as we had to wait for over an hour in order to get a seat. The variety of activities was good although they did not have a decent dance band and those they had were either too noisy or played "ordinary" music. In addition, the timing of the musical performances was poor as there were many times when there was no music at all. One guitarist played really well but his music was so loud that you could not have any conversation ( without shouting) whilst he played. A fellow cruises complained to him that the music was too loud and he simply stated that " you are sitting too close to the speakers". Not good P R. The tender service in some islands was very poor as when many people were waiting. they only had three tenders and whilst one returned to the ship, the other two remained at the ship until that one arrived leaving the passengers in a long line whilst watching the tender make the long trip back to shore. We will certainly cruise again but it would probably not be with Princess.
