We boarded this ship with very high expectations - all the great reviews/hype from cruise agent/promises from Celebrity..... We cruised on Carnival Legend last year and just loved every second of it, so when we are promised a noticeable step up from Carnival, well that seemed too good to be true !! Lovely ship - modern and nicely laid out, and very easy to find everything - felt like a much smaller ship when it came to getting around. Facilities were a mixed bag - auto toilet doors were a good idea, lots of hand sanitizer stations, plenty of lifts, and all the usual shops and bars and casino. On the down side of facilities - pools very small and the supposed lap pool was a joke, no pool deck seating to eat - just lounges, coffee shop whilst good was always crowded with sometimes very long queues, and no gueat laundry!!!! ( you can only imagine the cost of laundering) Food - in the dining room, was average or below average, in comparison to Carnival and P&O. Plenty of complaints from diners and lots of meals sent back. In the buffet, not a great variety but reasonable quality food - but very hard to find a seat most lunch times. Service - overall poor when compared again with Carnival and P& O. Many staff either didnt know what they were doing, or simply didnt care. Entertainment and activities - well, if we were 70 then I suppose it would have been adequate. Shore tours - a ripoff! Half as much again as Carnival and in some instances even more. And - tender damaged and guests injured at Lifou - should never have been allowed to tender. If this had been our first cruise we may feel differently about it - however after spending $2500 MORE on this cruise than Carnival we were left unimpressed and very disappointed. We are going back to Carnival and P &O and will never cruise on the Solstice again..

Underwhelming
