We arrived in Tampa, for a 7 day cruise on Veendam. EMBARKATION... Okay, no real issues Life aboard ship. rooms ready upon arrival. ship is ready for dry dock , so it appears they are starting work on her while we sale. Got stuck twice on elevator 10, once ended up on crew deck as that's where the elevator took us. FOOD.. typical, bland in Lido, and the main dining wasn't much better. For a person that is either allegic, or food restrictions.. it's not a good choice.. always pork, veal , or lots of seafood. WHY does every steak or beef meal need to be covered in gravy? there is a deli on lido, but you can't get a reuban as they don't have saurkraut, unless you went to the other end of the ship and got it from the dive-in. The dining room service was always slow.. 1 1/2-2 hours for dinner. Had dinner in Canalotti's. $10 a person and it's cooked at the lido and brought over. you can get the exact same food on the buffet line everyday. the dining room was always cold.. the head waiter said.. well you're in the Carabbean.. go outside and warm up. OKAY. Part of the time orders were wrong, or we didn't get the food at all. It was very bizarre. Next time we will skip the dining altogether. Room steward.. just went through the motions. sheets never changed the entire cruise. He didn't appeaqr to be happy or friendly. We did get towel animals after asking for them. When we booked we were in apackage deal that included dinner for 3 at Canalettis, Dinner for 2 at the steakhouse, a cookbook and cooking class. None were added to our account. had to call our travel agent to get it staight, BUT it took till Wednesday to be corrected. We missed Key West due to high winds, and then later in the day alarms went off as there was a minor fire on deck 2 in the engine room. Corrected, but then we had brown water part of the day. Other ports were Trujillo, Honduras, Guatamala, and costa Maya. should have stayed on ship. Basically, it was a cruise.. not, great, not bad.. BUT.. here are some of my opinions about this cruise.. There were so many ( maybe 75%) of the guests that were in some way mobility challanged (scooters, walkes, wheelchairs) that the hallways by the elevators that it really became a hazard, and you couldn't get aound. KIDS.. this was spring break and I think every grand and great grandpaent took their grandkids on this cuise. These 5-10 year olds were rude, taking over the hot tubs thinking it was a pool to play in. At 5pm one night thee wee very few adults left on pool deck due to dinner, yet there was maybe 50 kids still in the pool, no supervision. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Again.. it appearded that they started taking apart the ship for dydock while we sailed. Noise everywhere from drills and hammers. again, this is just MY opinion.

Too many chances for Holland.
