This was our tenth Royal Caribbean Cruise, and sadly, I feel that the standard we have come to expect from Royal Caribbean is slowly dropping. The good points first: We had a lovely balcony cabin on Deck 7 All staff were very friendly and efficient The standard of dress was usually good, although it appears that some nationalities do not dress. I was surprised that staff did not insist on a better standard of dress. Casual is not scruffy! The weaker points: Although Aussies and Brits formed by far the majority of cruisers, much of the Dinner menu was aimed at Asian guests. While I appreciate that Royal Caribbean is trying to develop its Asian market, when three or four (out of five) of the main choices every evening were definitely aimed at the Asian market, this offered a smaller choice for European and Australian cruisers. What's happened to the number of courses on offer?; usually four or more, now only three (or one or two if you exclude Asian choices) Filet Mignon or Beef Wellington was usually a standard choice at least once per cruises, now it was a relatively costly extra. 18% service charge is excessive. Recognising that some nationalities don't drink and therefore no service charge will be paid, the standard daily gratuity was increased from the norm of $11.45 to $12.95. For this reason we decided to opt out of the standard daily gratuity charge and paid gratuities to individuals whose service we appreciated. This is the first time for many years that we have opted out of the daily gratuity charge. This level of dissatisfaction was fairly widespread not only with other cruisers but also with a surprising number of staff While we feel that the holiday still represented extremely good value, there is, to my mind, a growing quality gap between our last Celebrity cruise (November 2014) and this Royal Caribbean cruise.

Slightly Disappointing
