The itinerary was unique. A combination of seeing the canal at work without having to do the entire transit, and without having to spend extra on excursion(s). The passage into the lake provided all the detail (narrated on board) for the workings of the canal as you pass through the Gatun Lock. This one lock consists of 3 gates and takes a good couple of hours to transit. It was an engineering marvel considering the foresight that went into this over 100 years ago. The other ports provided a look at how life really is in some of these countries once you get past the vendors who can be all over you. They are just doing their thing. We recommend some of the more exotic excursions if you want to really get into the different countries and cultures. The ship was a little less than expected in terms of room size, but it is an 'older' ship compared to many others out there today. Food had its ups and downs, and got a little repetitious. The outstanding aspect was the service. An interesting crew with a strong Asian contingent and all were 100% plus in terms of attitude and service. This goes for room and dining services. Only real negative was the boarding process, it was the most lengthy of any cruise we've ever been on. Possibly because the ship seemed filled to capacity. But even with the crowd, it was quite comfortable, including some quality entertainment.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BB
Smaller than what was expected for the first time we tried a balcony room. Even our friends who have had balconies before were a bit disappointed.
