Adonia Cruise Review by summerton
- Sail Date: September 2015
- Destination: Europe
I travelled to the Port with my son-in-law who offered to drop me there, as usual, the traffic was bad, but we got there in the end. My bags were taken and I did not see them until I got to my cabin. My check-in went very smoothly as there was only a couple of passengers booking in.
Adonia is a lovely little ship, with a big heart - as she was referred to - but 1 month long cruise was too long for me, although we visited some lovely little Islands such as Gythion,Piraeus, Kusadasi,Mytilene, Samos,Mykonos, Santorini,Agios Nikolaos, Monemvasia, I had never heard of these Islands ! On some of those Islands, the houses were built in the rocks. I took lots of photos, but lost them all as I lost the battery in my camera. the cover became undone and the battery fell off. I was gutted.
The ship information was very good and Captain Fox was very approachable. He would have his breakfast in the Conservatory and sit with the passengers.
I was very disappointed for not being able to dine at the Conservatory every evening instead on some theme nights only. Although I loved going to the main Restaurant every night, but the people on my table were very unsociable. I was at a table for 6, there were 2 couples and another single lady like me and we were stuck at the end of the table next to each other.I was not able to contribute to any of the conversation as the 2 couples were talking among themselves. In the end, I opted out all together to go to dinner . .I had a good lunch and something else at tea time. I stayed in my cabin or went on the sun deck and read my book or did my knitting. I have done many cruises before and Its the first time, I encounter such unsociable people at the meal table.
I went to the Singles meting only once. There was only 5 of us and all women.
The activities was very good, but sometimes will clash with another activity that I wanted to take part in. The entertainment was very good specially the Comedians, I had such a laugh!
The staff and service were fabulous, specially at reception. Lovely people.
Then one day, I left my cardigan (my one and only warm thing) on the chair on the sun deck and it was gone, nobody handed it in. I could not believe there would be thieves on the ship !
I disembarked exactly at the time I wanted as my daughter was fetching me. The disembarkment process is very organised and I found my suitcase very quickly.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience, but I would not do a 1 month long cruise again.
