  3. Celebrity Solstice
We have cruised over 30 times, and have cruised on Carnival (don't waste your time) Princess, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity. We rank Celebrity Number one by a large margin, with Royal Caribbean in second place. As you can imagine we sail exclusive on Celebrity and Royal. Their loyalty program incentives are unequalled and if you are a certain level of loyalty on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, they transfer to each other. We are doing a 12 night on Royal in November, so that is a great perk. First, let me get the disappointing issue out of the way. We booked and payed for a five night dining package at a discount before our cruise. We were led to believe by the rep of Celebrity that the restaurants would be of our choosing...that is we could eat in the same restaurant five times, if we so desired, and a dining time was available. That was incorrect. You get two nights at Silk Harvest, Two nights at Tuscan Grille, and One night in Murano. If I had known the set up, we would not have done this, but we did want to eat in specialty restaurants. I complained to the guest relations desk, and they brought in a food and beverage director. He told me I was incorrect, and his only solution was to cancel the package, and charge us individually for each dinner from that time on. That was not acceptable as we had some reservations. Had he simply said we will give you one more night in the restaurant of your choice instead of forcing you to a restaurant we didn't want it would have been fine. This customer service representative was the only person working for Celebrity that did not bend over backwards to take care of us on this trip. It is disappointing that we had this slight blemish on the whole trip. Of the specialty restaurants...I am sure you want to know...Silk Harvest had great service with only fair food and selections. Hard to pay $35.00pp for Chinese food. Murano...which we expected by far to be the best was very good, but not quite up to our past experiences....service was however excellent, and the food was very good. I would suggest the Flambeyed Lobster, and chateaubriand together as an unforgettable treat. The Tuscan Italian restaurant, surprised us to be the best. The service was impeccable. The food was outstanding...I don't recall ever having better calamari, crabcakes, and salads. My filet was one of the best I have had at sea, and my wife loved the sea bass. The meal was truly worth the purchase. Our server Allan was one of the best servers we have had at sea on any cruise. Make sure to ask for him. I would recommend eating in Tuscan on the night you leave Skagway...it is breathtaking with the views. Very Romantic. The ship sails at 6 so be there. Embarkation in Seattle as well as disembarkation was a breeze..We paid for express baggage valet, and it was worth every penny. The rooms were ready at 1PM and as always in great shape. All the common areas were great, the food in the buffet was well prepared and tasty. All of the staff bent over backwards to help us use our beverage package, and there were servers everywhere to help you get a beverage. Our favorite bar was the ice bar/martini bar, and we would congregate there in the evening after the show. The casino was nice, and for a change smoke free. We cant say enough about Brent Nixon, our narrator. His knowledge and entertaining stories provided us with endless information about our trip and the places we were visiting. Alaska truly is a place you have to see, and he made the trip so much more enjoyable. The large theatre provided great entertainment, and we enjoyed the shows. The seat hinges in the theatre are wearing out, and the seat bottoms slumped...probably from all of us fat people that ate too much in the restaurants ha ha...but something they might address. As always, the ship was spotless in every nook and cranny. No one cleans and maintains ships like Celebrity. Royal is a close second.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class
Cabin C2 9304
We always book concierge class cabins for many reasons...better towels and linens, champagne, fruit, and flowers in the room....extra gifts, better shower heads and toiletries, but also for the expanded room service menu, which is fantastic. You can eat a wonderful romantic full service breakfast with smoothies, fresh squeezed juice, French toast, eggs benedict in the room...which is a nice touch. Joseph and Danny were the best. Celebrity is the only line we have sailed on that uses two attendants per stateroom, and it is a very nice touch. We never wanted for anything...Cudos to Celebrity for this policy.
