We stayed at the Hyatt Bonaventure in Weston before the cruise. We picked this hotel as we wanted to do some shopping at Sawgrass Mills. If you stay there, you need a car as there isn't anything within walking distance. We took the Go Shuttle from the airport as we figured it would be cheaper then a cab. Be aware, it wasn't. They charged us $21.00 each one way, for a shared ride, dropping people off along the way. We took a cab from the hotel to the port and it came out to $47.00. So Go Shuttle was definitely not a deal. Despite arriving at the port to a huge line-up, it went fairly quickly which was nice. The other nice surprise was how quickly our baggage arrived to our room. Our last 2 cruises (one with Princess and one with Royal C.) was really slow. Our room was a huge disappointment. There was 2 bunkbeds attached to the wall on either side of the bed. You can imagine how difficult it made it to get in and out of the bed. Very awkward. The other problem was that we were at the front of the boat. As we are relatively new cruisers, we didn't realize that a room at the front really rolls with every wave. It was surprising how rocky it was. That wasn't the worst though, we could put up with that, but as it appeared we were situated right over the machinery of the ship, the noise was incredible. The banging through the night and the shaking of the entire room was incredible. Very difficult to sleep. Both us us ended up with terrible colds, probably due to the lack of sleep for 10 days! I must say that our room steward, Carlos, was fantastic. Everyday he was friendly and cheerful and did a great job with our room. As we are late dinner-eaters, he would even wait in the hallway until we left so he could do our room. It was great service. After sailing on Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas, which is so open and flows well, we were disappointed with the Emerald. It felt very confined and the ceilings are quite low. There didn't seem to be a good flow to the boat. In fact, in the gym, the ceiling is so low, that they can't have any stair climbers. Even on the elliptical machine the fellow beside me kept hitting his head on the ceiling. We felt the staff in the Da Vinci room were great. Especially Jorge, who always gave us great service and was very friendly. There did appear to be a lot of staff around on the decks if you wanted a drink and they were happy to get you anything, even if it was a free drink or glass of water. We went to Sabitinis one night. It was nice, but way, way too much food. They won't allow you to pick items from the left side of the menu, they give you a little of each thing. It was a nice dinner, but felt it would have been nicer if we could have limited the items we wanted to eat.

The showers are so small, not sure how some of the people on the boat could get into them.
