My husband and I took a 10 day Eastern Caribbean cruise. We had a really good time. The Royal Princess is a beautiful ship. I am glad that I read many of the previous interviews so I knew what to expect and keep an eye out for. Our balcony stateroom was small compared to other cruise lines. The bed was comfortable. The balcony was small that just barely fit 2 chairs and a table but we still enjoyed a lot of time out on the balcony enjoying a drink or reading. The entertainment was just o.k. For the popular shows you do need to arrive at least a half hour ahead of time. They do not enforce the "no saving seats" rule even though an overhead announcement was made just a few minutes before the show. So folks still hogged up many seats. We had the "Anytime dining" option which worked out well for us. The one night we asked to sit next to a window we were told it was reserved. It was really maddening when during our whole meal no one took the table. We at ate at the Bistro Buffet and Café most nights and found the selection and food better than the sit down option. We did eat at the Crowne Grill since we had a gift certificate and it was good. My husband and I really enjoyed movies under the stars on the top deck at night. it was fun to watch a first run movie under the stars. It could be windy but they did have blankets to keep warm. Pop corn, cookies and milk were available too. Our Cabin Steward, Levi, was great and was quick to respond to any concerns or additional needs. Levi always had a big smile and great attitude. We were on the 8th floor which worked out great since I could take the stairs to the main lobby and theatres. Sometime the elevator wait could be long during peak hours. Disembarkation was a breeze and didn't have to wait at all. We were off the ship and had our luggage within minutes. On a side note just a quick warning that the Ft. Lauderdale airport was awful since cruise ship seem to disembark at the same time. Lines to check in are out the door and can take over 45 minutes to get you baggage checked in!! Then onto security and it is at least another half hour. Most of the ports were interesting but St. Thomas was a zoo! There was 4 other ships in and it was like a bee hive. We choose the Blackbeard's Castle and shopping tour and it was a joke! A ride up to the Castle where you are dumped off in the parking lot with a ton of other guests. It is hot and humid and no shade. You are forced to stand outside as they filter in the mass on continually oncoming tour vans. The one fun introduction was a pirate in costume and a fun tale and a look out that only 8 people can go up in at a time. You walk through the grounds and building with not much history or information. The shopping part is you being dumped out onto the street with thousands of other cruisers!! For that I paid $50 a person!!!

Cabin Review

Cabin E525
It is right in the middle of the ship so you don't feel a lot of motion and it is quiet. It is an obstructed view with the life boat to look over but really not an issue. The room is small but comfortable with a flat screen t.v. The balcony is also small but still enjoyed being able to get outside. I also liked that we were able to take the stairs down to the main lobby and theatres.

  • Ziplining
It was awesome!! 12 lines through beautiful trees and fauna. The guides were incredible and a lot of fun. They took pictures for us during out zip lining.

It was a basic tour of the island. The Batik gallery is fun. I loved watching the women create her craft. The grounds a lovely but you can't go into the home. Just the store to buy batik items.

Didn't get off the ship at this destination since it an Princess Cruise's own island and had to tend ashore for a couple hour stop over. It seems to be a beach and bbq stop over.

  • Basic Island Tour
We took a general sightseeing tour. It was lacking. The van was in poor condition and you couldn't understand the tour guide. It was really basic and was dumped off at the end of the shopping mall with no directions on how to get back to the ship.

It was pretty good and got to see the basic historic sights. The guide was knowledgeable and could answer any questions you had regarding basic government rule and customs.

When on Blackbeard's castle and shopping tour! What a rip off!!! They drive you up to the castle and dump you in the hot, humid, overcrowded parking lot and trickle you in a little at a time. There is a great actor as a pirate with a fun tale. The look out only allows 8 at a time with a hoard of people coming in. The grounds and homes are beautiful but hardly any explanation of what you are seeing. Then you are dumped out onto the main shopping avenues with a bee hive of other tourists. Good luck trying to get help in a store and finding your way back.
