Carnival Miracle Cruise Review by frednsb
- Sail Date: December 2008
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
The morning of the cruise we were up early, easy check-out, breakfast at Denny's and then to the Port. We had VIP embarkation due to booking the suite and were first through and on the ship about noon. Embarkation and the workers at the terminal were great. The crew on entering, as all Carnival crews were terrifically friendly. The Miracle was gorgeous.
We were to Horatio's on the Lido and had lunch at the buffet then sat at the pool till our room was ready. We were in our room by 1:30. Our cabin was fantastic. Bed area, sofa, fridge, safe, dressing area, bathroom with shower/jacuzzi tub, plenty of room. Two sets of huge closets (one in the room and one in the dressing area) and plenty of storage. Our balcony was very large with two tables and a chase lounge. The cat 11 suite is nice for 3 adults!
My mother-in-laws son and daughter surprised her on our balcony. She did not know they were going on the cruise. We dined 5 of the 8 nights in the dining room where service was good and the food just okay. Our cabin steward Joe and his assistant were excellent!!! Every member of the crew I met on this trip was friendly and helpful and always working!
Negatives - we like to eat in the Lido buffet sometimes for dinner. This was not a good experience on the Miracle. They only had one buffet line open with a limited choice of foods. I was so surprised because the Glory's Lido buffet was excellent anytime of the day. Buffet time on the Miracle was good for breakfast and lunch, but the food choices were not that great and the food was somewhat very average. Was I expecting to much? I don't think so, I have cruised Carnival five times in the last three years. Will the experience keep me off Carnival. N0! I might sail RCCL and NCL more frequently though. The problems with the propulsion system and supposed stabilizer problems made for a rocky sail, but the sea and the wind were rough. I had a stroke on Nov. 1 and at no time did I have a problem with traveling around the ship with my cane.
The three islands we visited were fantastic. The sea days great too! The Cruise Director Brent did not interact as much with the ship as ours on the Glory.
I have to give praise to casinO host Johnson. He was the greatest as was his boss Dina.
In summary - The Miracle is a great ship and beautiful with lots of things to do. The southern route is amazing, I would do it again. But Carnival. . . LET'S DO A BETTER JOB WITH THE FOOD ON THIS SHIP. You let me down for the first time.
A special thanks to Dave the assistant CD who helped my wife get a wheelchair for me to get off the ship. I could not stand the day we left the ship.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)Again, gorgeous. These islands are so beautiful! No excursion here we just got a cab ($2.50 each way per person) and spent the day at the Marriott. Nice day. Tough casino though! Shopped by the pier which leads to downtown. Not as nice a port town as in the other two ports. But they did have a lot of outdoor cooking going on and lots of drinks for sail in the market.View All 1,691 St. Kitts (Port Zante) Cruise Port Reviews

St. LuciaOMG!!! This is the most gorgeous place I have ever visited! The port, the capital city, the mountains, the lush rainforests, the plantations. You can not do and see everything there in a day! I will be back! We went on the Volcano steam and Mudbath tour and went all over the island. The volcano and its crater were awesome. We drove and walked right into it! We ate lunch over-hanging the mountain looking at the Twin pitons! Seven hour tour and not evough time. I'll go back there!View All 1,387 St. Lucia Cruise Port Reviews

St. MaartenWell kept port with many shops and easy transportation to them. We did an excursion that explored the island both Dutch and French side with many stops and a visit to a butterfly refuge and the French town of Marigot. Had some great pastry there.View All 4,728 St. Maarten Cruise Port Reviews
