Azamara Journey Cruise Review by Levis
- Sail Date: January 2015
- Destination: South America
- Cabin Type: Club Veranda Stateroom
The food in the dining room was only mediocre. They have 2 specialty restaurants which were better but they charge you extra to dine there. This felt like "nickle and diming". The cruise was not inexpensive--these restaurants should be included in the price.
Also they advertise that soft drinks are included. However, if you decide to have a soft drink that is provided in your cabin's fridge, you are charged a fee! Really? Come on, this again is "nickle and diming".
Gratuities are also advertised as being included, however, it is clear that the staff expect more. For example on our last day, they were waiting outside our cabin door and it was obvious that they expected to receive an additional tip.
The entertainment was very amateurish. They could put you to sleep.
The service was good--the staff did their best to please their customers.
Shore excursions were very overpriced. You are much better off using a private tour guide either on your own or with a small group of people.
We receive numerous emails from Oceania and are planning to try them for our next cruise. They don't charge for their specialty restaurants and any of their soft drinks. Also their ships are small and totally refurbished and some are brand new.
