  3. Oasis of the Seas
Royal Caribbean has really gone downhill with Oasis of the Seas. We are a family of five total, ages 28 to 65. We have all been on Freedom of the Seas, which was wonderful and so we wanted to continue our loyalty with Royal Caribbean but this cruise to the Eastern Caribbean left much to be desired. Staff: I understand how much work the staff takes on but service was lackluster and seem dependent on tips. Extra gratuity is usually given the last day of the cruise but we decided to tip the day before to see if our terrible service would change. Oh boy did it. From stateroom to dining in the MDR. Our stateroom attendant was great but our sofa bed was never put away during the day and made it incredibly tight to move around during the daytime. No ice given or offered. Towel animals inconsistent and only done twice during our 7 days. After tip = towel animals and many greetings in the hallway. We had My Time Dining and service was night and day compared to our incredible FOS cruise. Only interaction with waiter was to take our order and when setting our plates of food down. Never asked if everything was good nor if we wanted something else. We still tipped extra gratuity on top of the mandatory but service remains poor. The worst experience on this trip that has made me not want to come back to Royal Caribbean is the Beverage Package Program. We bought two Royal Replenish packages a month before embarkation. Got our cups in our stateroom day of. Package included soda, bottles of water and non alcoholic drinks. The service and utter disgust on F/B staff faces when we showed them our keypass cards was horrible. It felt that we weren’t scheming them out of a tip. I felt embarrassed to ask for a drink and discouraged to go to the bar to ask them for a bottle of water. It definitely was a waste of my money. Over $300 for 2 packages. When we used it in the MDR, the staff said beverages were not available, then they were. The staff made it appear like it was a hassle for us to use. Also, in Windjammer, during breakfast we asked for fresh OJ which is included and they said no and another incident we got “ we have it but we have to go downstairs to get it, like 15mins” . 15mintues to get OJ? No thank you. I’m calling out Mr. Fain and Mr Bayley – Please look into these beverage packages and how they are implemented on ships. The staff needs to be retrained or the packages need to be reworked. Embarkation: Really quick, we have priority line privileges as Gold Members so line was very short. Good logistics having lines by stateroom floors Debarkation: A whole different story. Lines galore. Customs slow. People cutting lines. Needs to be reworked. Make sure you have plenty lead time. We started to line up to leave at about 10:50am and did not make it out until like 12:35pm. Food: MDR: Very bland or overly salted food. Portions were too small and just terrible compared to our last cruise on FOS. Inconsistent and not fresh. I guess this is normal for a bigger ship?? Windjammer: no variety- same foods everyday pretty much. Cafeteria food. Park Café: loved the roast beef sandwiches and custom salads. We ate here almost everyday. Sorrentos: premade slices were good but the make your own pizzas were really good Park Promenade: tried a few deserts that were mediocre, typical café food Ports of Call: Bahamas – We did our own excursion through ResortforaDay at the British Colonial Hilton. Day pass included private beach, pool, and $40 food and drink credit to use. Get there early as chairs were taken up later in the day. Make sure to put in your food order early as it takes a long time to come out. Getting back onto the ship was total chaos. No lines formed and everyone was herded like cattle back onto the ship. Something needs to be done especially at a port frequented many times by cruise ships. St Thomas- We did the Secret Sands Excursion through RC. We were the 2nd group to the exclusive beach. When we got there the guide said he was not aware that there was another group coming. I was like I paid $50 to hear this. He was unprepared with drinks and it was just a rip off to pay that much to use dirty chairs. The beach was blocked off and we could not go pass the “lifeguard” tower so the whole group was confined to about 30 feet of the beach so a bit crowded if you wanted a little privacy. Water was pretty but not a snorkeling beach. St Maarten- We also did the Butterfly Farm Excursion through RC. This was a fun trip. Butterfly farm guides were great and informative. Shows: Cats- Actors were very talented but the storyline did not appeal to most. More than half left during the intermission as this was a full length broadway show. I felt really bad. Frozen in Time- Ice show was the best out of all the shows. Very engaging with costumes, music and technicality. Get there early to nab the best seats. We were front and center and it was amazing. Oasis of Dreams- Aqua show was 2nd best in my opinion. Very talented divers and swimmers. Fun storyline and great use of the outdoor aquatheater. Come Fly with Me- Main show in Opal Theater, fun show with some cirque du soleil type acts, some of the music and scenes were a bit disconnected and not really a cohesive show in my opinion Staterooms: We had two Boardwalk Balconies at the end 10327 and 10325. Good size rooms, we had one with the bed near balcony and one closer to closet. We had 3 in one room and 2 in another. Good amount of storage – under the bed, cabinets, and closets very ergonomically configured. The view was great – saw the ocean and the aquatheater. Perfect for Oasis of the Dreams water show. Noise stops at 11:30pm. Balcony doors lock out the noise very well and we had no problems. Water pressure was great. Liquid shampoo was provided and small bar soaps. There is a blow dryer in the room vanity desk. Final Thoughts: I’ve read a lot of reviews about the different travelers on this ship and I agree that some of the foreign guests were incredibly rude cutting in line and just rushing into elevators. But I also have to say some Americans were just as rude and outright ignorant and discriminating. Heard lots of racist comments. This is definitely at no fault to RC but Oasis definitely is comprised of a lot of foreign guests from all over. Just a note for anybody wanting to book this trip. I wish everyone would of just relaxed a little more. Smiles and thank you’s go a long way. Being mindful that some people might not have the same customs as you and to be a little more tolerant because you are on vacation. I wish everyone a great 2015 and cruise on!!!!!!!!

Cabin Review

Cabin 10327,10325
Great cabins to see the Aqua Shows and still have view of ocean. A little bit more sea motion though.
