This is my 4th cruise and I learned to pick cruises based on stops and ship entertainment. This cruise left from San Juan (Pan American Port) and visited 5 different islands. I have been on Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean and I love Royal Caribbean the most. The ships are elegant and well maintained. There is so much fun entertainment that you cannot possibly do it all in one week. In my opinion, Carnival ships are a step down and cheap looking, Princess cruises are a bit too boring and Royal Caribbean is just perfect. The ship is designed so you can be in the middle of the crowd or you can hide in a quite area where you cannot hear anyone. The adult pool is nice and quite and the other pool constantly has some activities or music playing. The ice show was fantastic!!!! For an old ship, the appearance is very clean and well maintained. I love the promenade and the ongoing activities and shops there. My favorite bar was the sky bar on deck 13 where you can see the ship pools and the sea. The food overall was good. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch and at the main dining for dinner.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8637
The room was small but so well designed that 2 of us had no problem with the small space. The shower was also small but again we spend very little time in the room. There are plenty of closet space and shelves to organized your staff and suitcases fit under the bed. There is a divider between the bed the the couch "living room". The carpet was a bit old and in the need of replacement. But if you want everything new, you need to go on a new ship.

  • Catamaran Tour
This was a catamaran, snorkeling with turtles and beach tour for 1/2 day. Catamaran ride was fine with rum punch included, snorkeling was not impressive at all and 1 hour beach stop was good. The staff was a lot of fun and entertaining.

It was a 7 hour tour which was fantastic until the lunch time. The catamaran took us to see a lot of this gorgeous island from the Caribbean side, we had 1 hour stop at the black sand beach and then a quick ride to the mud lakes. The 30 minute mud lakes stop was enough to rub yourself in a mud, warm up in the hot springs and clean up. Then we went to have lunch at a local place and the food was very good. After that, everything went downhill. The organizers couldn't find the bus and we waited about 30 minutes for the bus to arrive. Then instead of going back and making a few stops, we stopped in about 5 places with local shopping. It seemed that the driver was getting paid by locals to stop and let tourist shop. The ride back was 2 hours and it was just way too long. The tour could easily be cut by 1.5 hours and make it way more satisfying.

  • St. Maarten
This was an afternoon beach break tour. I won this tour at the shopping show on the ship and was very happy with the experience. The ride to the Orient Beach was about 20 minutes. The beach is located in the residential one family gated community, has some nice local restaurants and gorgeous beach. The rum punch was included. If you are looking for a relaxing tour, this is a tour for you.
