We went on Carnival Inspiration to celebrate our one year anniversary. We based which ship we went on from the reviews on cruise critic and we made the right choice. The crew was excellent and friendly and the ship was always clean. While it is an older ship, evident in the decor, the crew does make the best with what they have. The comedy shows were very good, better than we would have thought. We actually didn't get a chance to see the shows because we were so busy doing so many other events. The art auction was a great time, and a great way to get free alcohol. Only downsides to the cruise was the number of days and size of the ship. A 4-day cruise is great for a first time when you don't know how a cruise will be, but definitely wish we did longer. Also, since it is an older and smaller ship it was rocked by the seas depending on the weather. The rocking wasn't a big deal, however if you aren't used to it then it will be noticeable. Signing up for Faster to the Fun was the best $50 we have ever spent. Walked right onto the boat when we got there and also walked immediately off the boat at the end. Didn't deal with any lines anywhere. Pros: * Great ports of call. * Amazing crew. * Great activities and entertainment. * Faster to the fun, best investment ever. Cons: * Older ship * Can notice rocking.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite
Cabin GS
Balcony was the perfect size to be able to enjoy. Smaller balconies were just bigger then the furniture and would have been cramped. Choose an even number, starboard side, because you will be facing away from the dock in Long Beach and Ensenada, but you will be able to see Avalon when off the coast of Catalina.

Did the East End tour by Humvee and had a great time. Was able to see a different part of the island that you would not be able to see by foot. Was able to get some great pictures and our tour guide was awesome. Just be prepared for actual off-roading and some bumps. Not recommended for people who aren't ok with high speeds or bumps.Town of Avalon is a perfect getaway spot. If you have time to go ashore at night do so since there will be so many fewer people ashore.

Many of the shops had all the same touristy fair. You can negotiate with them in order to get it cheaper. La Bufadora was closed due to strikes. Heard great things about the horseback riding and wine excursions from others we knew who went on them. All shops are within walking distance. Do some research ahead of time as to what to do and to stay away from. Margarita's were great for the price. Make sure to get off the boat early in order to see the museum as well as the shops.
