NIGHT BEFORE: We drove to Galveston and stayed at the San LuisResort 11/18. This hotel is top notch, very nice and you can leave your car and shuttle to the pier. It was very convenient. We would recommend it highly. PIER: On Sunday we arrived at the pier at 1030. Many folks were still getting off the ship. But, a long line had already started to form upstairs. Luckily, we had been upgraded to a penthouse suite, and we were in VIP check-in. The process started at 11 am and we were on the ship by noon! We had most decks to ourselves at this time which was really neat. Upon embarking, we went to the Lido deck and had the buffet lunch. We were shocked at how much food was available. Just about anything you could want! It tasted great, too. CABIN: Our cabin was ready by 130 and we went to put our bags away. I had ordered decorations for our 15 year anniversary and they were superb. The whole cabin had something somewhere! Well worth the money! We had not told our kids we were in a suite and when we opened the door they were happily surprised. It was so big and nice! Thanks to Carnival!! Our cabin steward was great and left all sorts of cool towel animals. Our room never lacked anything and they get you ice everyday, too. It was hard to enjoy the balcony because of all the wind, though. DINING: We opted for early dining at 545 and wished we had chosen a little later time, we felt rushed to dinner each evening. BUT, we did get our booth for 4 and it was in a good location. Each night we got several appetizers, and one meal and one dessert, but some tables around us tried many dishes! I thought the food was good, not great, but not terrible either. I didn't care for the lobster, but my daughter ate hers and mine! The desserts were to die for most nights, but on 2 we passed and went to eat the buffet desserts. Never made it to any late night buffets, but on the last day from 12 PM - 4 PM they had a chocolate buffet which had more desserts than I have ever seen in one place, NOT to be missed!! ENTERTAINMENT: We went to only 2 shows as the rest did not interest us. I must say the costumes the dancer wear are very "provocative". They are "thong" style outfits, so you see lots of "behinds". Be careful of those little eyes. The dancing was great once I got over the costumes, but I didn't care for the 2 singers they had chosen. The male was too loud for my taste. The magic show Deja was really really good. Even though she was slow on some tricks and we saw how they did them, she was impressive! If she is on your cruise a must see! Several nights they only had 1030 shows and we just didn't make any of those. I wish they could have done something about that time, it was too late for my taste. My husband said Blood Power was very good the night he went to see them. I choose to relax in our room. We tried to go to the casino, but it was so thick with smoke we only stayed a short while. (we doubled our money and left) There was NEVER a dull moment on board during sea days--tons and tons of things they planned! PORTS: JAMAICA: We went to Sunset Beach in Jamaica it was nice. I think the poverty level in this country makes it hard to keep it 4 star. Other than the pool slides there was not much else to do. They lost all the golf balls for the putt putt and it was too windy to use the watersports that day. IF it is not nice weather I would find somewhere else to go, they did not have an indoor lobby to sit in and get out of the wind. Plus, all the chairs in the outdoor lobby were taken. The food was okay, but I was not too impressed by it. I had seen pictures and it looked nicer in those, like I said the bad weather made a huge difference in our outlook, though. GRAND CAYMAN: We were turned away once again due to the bad weather and did NOT stop in Grand Cayman. My kids were sadly disappointed, as were we. COZUMEL:http://www.cozumelcruiseexcursions.com/AllInclusiveResort.htm We booked our excursion through this link and it was the best decision ever. This resort (the Reef Club Cozumel) was 5 stars! The grounds were pristine and the food was to die for! Authentic mexican food! As well as grilled food, too. They had tons of watersports available and we tried just about everything! The resort was not crowded at all! We walked to Paradise Beach and it was wall to wall people. We nearly had the Reef Club to ourselves! A definite must in Cozumel for relaxation and great food!! Side note: Our Cruise Director(Mark Price) did a great job on our missed Port day and we commend him for such. He is a super guy with a great personality. Disembarkation: Getting off the ship took a long time and we should have listened and self-disembarked, do this if at all possible!!! Trust me! enough said. BOTTOM LINE: This was our first 7 night cruise and first Carnival cruise, even though we missed a port and will try NOT to book another tender cruise, we loved every minute of our cruise! I give this ship five stars for crew, I never met so many friendly people in my life!! I will miss hearing Mark's English accent over the PA system!! feel free to email any questions to seh123@gmail.com as it is so hard to type everything in this review!
