This was our 4th cruise with P&O and our 2nd on Azura which is a great ship. The quality of food at dinner and way in which it was cooked, was noticeably poor compared with our previous experiences. Noting the Commodore's request to raise any concerns I wrote a letter mid-cruise highlighting our disappointment with specific examples. Several days later we were invited to discuss our concerns with the Food & Bev. Ops Manager and Head of Peninsular restaurant. The Ops Mgr would not accept our criticism stating that he had received no other complaints. He kept re-iterating that if not satisfied we should send food back. He could not accept that it should be right 1st time as it is embarrassing to constantly complain at the table and spoil the pleasant dining experience with fellow passengers. We later heard that a number of passengers had also complained. In fact there was a noticeable improvement in food quality during 2nd week so some action had been taken. What was strange is that breakfasts and lunches taken in the Peninsular were of a consistently high standard throughout. Two other points of note were:- After dinner drinks (liquors) were never offered and cheese had to be requested. Other than this annoyance we enjoyed all other aspects of this cruise including excellent entertainment. We flew on BA scheduled flights and can re-assure others that P&O/BA processes were very slick with no queuing. However BA in flight food was rubbish and stocks of alcoholic drinks very limited.

Cabin Review

Outside Stateroom
Cabin LC P234
Had an outside cabin on Panama Deck which is deck 5. The cabin was a twin with large window and great layout. It was a quiet area very handy for Atrium, Playhouse and forward lifts. Also great for disembarking at ports as deck 4 brow was below.
TV was boring but it was useful seeing moving map and SkyNews. P&O used to sell duty free alcohol for consumption in cabins but they have hiked prices significantly so it is no longer worth doing.
