Staff at reception were completely inept. We paid for our bill near the end of our trip using a prepaid Visa and the payment was taken, but for some reason it was not registering on MSC'S end. The reception kept telling us that we did not pay our balance and wouldn't settle the charges until we made another payment. We ended up settling the balance in cash although the original balance was already taken from our prepaid Visa. We were left with virtually no money near the end of our trip as a result. In addition to this, every staff member we interacted with to solve the issue were rude and unprofessional. During the cruise, we had access to the television and were able to watch news coverage of the upcoming hurricane (Dorian). The hurricane spawned on the date we embarked on the trip (August 24th), surprisingly, NO discussion of the hurricane was mentioned as a public service announcement or by staff until our second last destination (departing Cozumel, Mexico, on route to Nassau). There was plenty confusion when this occurred because instructions we not made clear as to what our options were as passengers. When the announcement was made, you had to go out into the hallways to hear what was being said, you were not able to hear from inside of your cabin. They did not begin to do the opposite until 3-4 announcement were made already. No refund or reimbursement of the missed destination was promised, just the reimbursement of the missed excursion. Lastly the lack of transfers exhibited total disregard of customers and their safety, making them find their own transfers comes off as all MSC cares about is cutting costs on their end. The menu for the buffets were repetitive and lack luster, they also weren't friendly to those who had food allergies such as gluten. Why should a customer be penalized for their food allergies for each meal? This will be me and my partners first and last time choosing MSC as our cruise line of choice. We did not "feel like family" when we were forced to pay for our bill TWICE at reception, nor when we were not reimbursed at all for our missed port, or when my partner was not able to eat a decent meal due to his gluten allergies. It was the worst cruise we had ever been on. Read Less

My boyfriend and I were so excited to vacation on this beautiful ship, we spent a lot of time and money planning this vacation and the outcome was rather disappointing. POSITIVES: Awesome room attendant Filzon, who remembered our names, greeted us, kept our cabin tidy several times a day and catered to our liking of fresh ice :)! We also loved the shows, adult comedy was our favorite, SO FUNNY! The ice cream is to die for. -NEGATIVES BEGIN- 1) Embarkation/Disembarkation: unorganized, lazy security or us customs whoever the heck runs the terminals SUCK. So slow. Lots of waiting. We unfortunately had to disembark a day early due to a hurricane and the lack of communication/organization was rather alarming. 2) Food: just ok, very repetitive. Very bland. Nothing special.and those of you that claim the Pizza is awesome....you need to get out more...that pizza was awful, no flavor, cheese on bread with marinara. 3) Staff: some bartenders are so rude and unfriendly you wait and wait and wait and wait for a drink almost like they intentionally ignore you. Rodito was one of the only bartenders we enjoyed. 4) passengers: the europeans are a different cultured, unmannered breed. Have never been so uncomfortable in all my life. A lot of shoving, pushing, walking on toes w/o acknowledging. I did not hear one excuse me or im sorry from a European mouth. Disgusting. Have some class and respect for others. The people on this ship ruined a lot of it for us. 5) Children: have no respect for adults, run all over the ship, yelling and screaming, they will sit on your reserved chairs and budge you in line and waive their room cards in front of the servers faces, I’ve never seen such allowed rowdiness and disrespect before. 6) Bathroom in cabin: although appeared clean, had a very foul odor that did not disappear at all. 7) Sewage smell: on day 4 into the cruise we noticed an AWFUL stomach quenching smell in various parts of the ship, heard a passenger state it could be ship exhaust but I know a poopy when I smell a poopy. There is a major plumbing problem on that ship I assume by the smell. 8) Communication: VERY LACKING. Especially in our situation with a Hurricane on the water, they did not make us feel safe or reassured. It was very stressful and chaotic. 9) Overpriced: you pay extra for just about anything and everything. 10) Elevators: slow, not enough of em’ Read Less

choose the cruise for the itinerary. And I thought the European ambiance would be fun. Turns out this is not a cruiseline that caters to Americans. The service and demeanor of crew is not what Americans will expect--a lot of waiting, no adherence to lines, rudeness among crew. Also had major security/safety issues: They didn't have enough staff to patrol the long lines to everything, and there were near stampedes and lots of arguments about people cutting in lines. Not enough of anything to go around: If you didn't get to the pool by 8:30 you didn't get a lounge chair; everything required a wait in line. Food was barely passable (and tiny portions--maybe this is also a European thing; I didn't want to gorge myself, but as an example I ordered gnocchi as a main dish and there were six tiny pastas in a tiny bowl--not even an appetizer-sized portion), entertainment was amateur, crew were outright hostile and rude (I've honestly never seen anything like it). In addition, there was a big language barrier, such that even when crew were trying to help, they couldn't because they didn't understand. Would never take this cruise line again. Read Less

I went on MSC Seaside thought I would give it a try. The ship is huge and a good ship for family's however, the pool areas did not have any towels. The cabin was fair and as expected the attendant Juan Tan was the best person on the trip. The dinning experience was terrible, if your going to offer juices, coffee, and water have someone going around and offer it to them. They barley had any cookies sometimes i just needed one and couldn't get it. The fridge or mini bar was locked couldn't put anything in it. They pushed there drink packages upon you, however they don't tell you that its per day or per person, the internet was way to expensive 43 bucks per day not for hour or whatever and they didn't even have any printers god forbid if i had to print anything. I never tried any of the entertainment or activities. The service was horrible they all speak different languages and you can't understand them. I had a hard time even putting a credit card on room because the company is from Paris and the cards say fraud even though you told the credit card company ahead of time. The port of calls, well first one was cancelled and they should of replaced it with another but instead out of a 7 day cruise 4 of them were spent at sea boring. I would never recommend this ship to anyone its way to expensive to do anything. Read Less

It's the culture on NO, of close, of it's too late, of I can't, of it's your problem. This european need to understand the American customer service, if not, then they need a crash course with Carnival, NCL, Royal Carebean. They should go back to cargo. The cabin people has to ask for permission just to find a pillow to mattress to put the two single bed together. Two days to get the mattress. Cabin people don't pick up trash, used cups. All personell with bad faces all the time. As if they were doing a favor. The pictures were bad quality. The paper is better at my local pharnacy photo section. Fo not recomend this cruise. No ice cream cone at all times or soda, just a certain time of the day, and one person dispatching it, so long line of course, of course, the European way, just this is what it is. Read Less

Arrived on the cruise ship got our rooms to find we dont have a glass a balcony that was advertised and promised by travel agent we had a big massive bit metal plate instead of glass the metal plate had a metal ledge half way up that was a perfect height for my 4 year almost 5 to stand on and make her the perfect height to topple over the handrail and fall off the side, we went and complained had to wait in a massive customer service que with other people with complaints then the smug so far up his on back side guy just shrugged his shoulders and said there nothing we can do about it. So Instead of getting annoyed we just got on with it didn't let my daughter outside the balcony unless we were out with her. The guy next door to us had booked two rooms was promised two glass balcony and ended up with two metal ones he was beyond boiling point so just remember your not guaranteed a glass balcony and can end up paying the money but getting a big bit metal with a metal ledge even though you paid the same money as someone with a glass balcony. I'll try post photo with review. The Pools on the ship are very very small and not alot of them so you have well over 5 thousand guests in ship with people trying to use these pools that are salt water also so your all crambed in with no space to enjoy pool. The main restraunt has a big fancy written menu to make it sound spectacular I ordered this boiled beef stuff that came out and tasted like beef jerky was rotten, then ordered the New York streaks of steak came out was one cut of steak with chips that tasted like they were boiled chips the steak was ment to be medium cooked but looked medium but was hard to cut and hard to chew never ate the chips, then got dessert was a chocolate fudge brownie with chocolate custard came out was a cut of brownie with two splashes of jam eather side I said where is the custard the waiter went and asked the chef he came back and said that the custard was on top of the brownie I laughed as it was lined of what looked to me of a hard chocolate sauce on top I said it should be called chocolate brownie with jam as theres more jam than custard was also not good tasting. This lifts on the ship are horrendous you can wait ages on the lift coming then when it does come its filled with people so you need to wait again for the next one and when you do get on you then stop at every floor as there are ques upon ques of people waiting on a lift. The mini bars in rooms we paid £730 for the premium plus drinks package for a 7 day cruise but they still want to charge you $4.50 for a can of coca cola out the fridge we decided not to use the fridge/mini bar for this reason our last day we got a list left in the room stating what was in the mini bar and asking us to tick what we had used so the can charge us, I then had to write on the list PLEASE NOTE THE THINGS THATS ON THIS LIST WERE NOT IN OUR MINI BAR AT THE START OF OUR TRIP SO DO NOT CHARGE US. Our other family members that was with us in another room started with 3 items in there mini bar and gradually got filled up every day of there trip they had to go to reception and complain. The rooms or the reception do not have irons, we had taken formal wear as there was a formal wear clothing night and white clothing also as there was a wear white night they had been in our cases so they ended up creased we asked for an iron the reception said you need to use the laundrette service they were wanting $5.50 just to iron one shirt and you have to wait till the following tea time to get item returned so we had to miss out on these two nights as we had already spent a fortune on the holiday and we were very reluctant to give MSC any more money as they had bumped us of with a metal balcony also. Also we had three drinks packages one for me one for my partner and a soft drinks package for my daughter who is four I couldn't go to bar without taken my partner or daughter as your only allowed two drinks per guest so I couldn't get two vodkas with coke and an apple juice for my daughter by myself. I had to take one of them with me. Extra charges, each guest gets charged $89 per adult and $65 per child for tip charges for the staff so all I'm that's an almost an extra $250 for myself my partner and our daughter. But you can got to the massive customer service que and wait half an hour in the ques with almost 50 other guest kicking up a stink about this hidden charge and get it removed. Alot of guests were still getting charged to there room for there drinks even though they had the drinks packages. The excursions bought from cruise are mega expensive they wanted $100 per person for a speed boat tour where you get splashed ect we got of the boat found another business that wasnt linked to MSC with the exact same boat and paid $40 per person. The duty free on the boat is duty free but it is not MSC free we can buy the exact same perfume back home and a double sized bottle cheaper than what MSC had it on duty free in the smaller size. One night the had a big sale one with all the items we had been looking and they were the same price the day before. There is no ATM on ship so you cant withdraw money to go and enjoy your stops we have to pay $15 to withdraw money from an atm in Mexico spent 30 mins trying to find an ATM that works. ISSUES WITH THIS SHIP IS ENDLESS. some good things ship was clean the buffet food was quite good and the bar staff were spot on very polite most of them. This was our 1st cruise we were told by alot of people once you go on a cruise you wont look back this money grabbing company MSC has made us not want to go on a cruise ever again they should be ashamed of themselves. “That was the s————- s—- show I ever saw…” This is a quote I overheard from a fellow passenger on the MSC Seaside during our recent cruise vacation, and I couldn’t help but think… “That sums up this experience perfectly.” I have to admit, I was going to use the famous quote from Charles Dickens, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,” but I didn’t want to be so dramatic. Let’s get right down to it. I traveled with a group of people on the MSC Seaside from June 8th to June 15th 2019. This was my second cruise, but the first with MSC. Boy, was I disappointed in this company. There was on SMALL thing that I liked about MSC. I will mention that before getting to the nitty gritty. I have a gluten allergy, and I felt as if the staff in the dining room was amazing with that. Plus, I got a little gluten-free treat every day in my stateroom. HOWEVER, the buffets, were lacking. Nothing was labeled gluten-free, so it was impossible to tell what I could safely eat and what I couldn't. So...that was it. The ports were nice, but MSC has nothing to do with the beauty of St. Thomas or the fun spirt in Nassau. That being said, if you are considering MSC, PLEASE, for the love of everything holy...keep reading. I would hate that someone else would fall victim to this horrendous company.... Booking -- How hard is it to book a cruise? We booked with a booking agent, and then we couldn't log into the website. MSC blamed it on website updates...for FIVE MONTHS???? Ridiculous. Once we finally figured out how to log into the most confusing website in the world, we noticed that our names were spelled incorrectly. "Okay, we will just call them..." Good luck with that! After several times of being put on hold for 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and more with no pick up, I requested a call back via the MSC website. That was about six weeks ago, my cruise has come and gone, and I still haven't gotten a call. Embarkation -- I don't have much bad to say about this. It was smooth...I would consider waiting in line for the next customer service representative one of the big highlights of my MSC Seaside experience...and no, I'm not being sarcastic. Nothing bad happened, so I'll count this as a win. Ship -- The ship is beautiful...yes. It's big, it's spacious, and it was clean...if you don't count the consistent nostril burning sewage smell that lingers in certain areas. Once you look past the beauty and grandeur of the ship, however, there are MAJOR issues. For example, on Deck 8, if you walk around enough, you will find the chair graveyard. There were approximately 12 deck chairs that had broken...yes, broken with people actually sitting in them. We saw one, average sized man, fall right out of his chair during breakfast when the chair broke from underneath them. Obviously this is a problem on the Seaside because there were a lot of broken chairs and a lot of pissed off people. Cabin -- Our cabin...9158...straight up...smelled like someone had peed all over the floor, let it soak into the carpet, and then placed the room in the hot, Caribbean sun for a week or so just to make sure that the odor would really stay in there. We DID complain about it, and our room steward sprayed something in there, but it only masked the smell for a short time. Dining -- My gluten-free food was good. They did cater to my needs. The rest of our group, however, didn't have the best experience all of the time. For instance, my mother's salad was in a bowl, and at the bottom of the bowl was about a quarter inch of water. Gross. Entertainment and Activities -- “That was the sh*ttiest sh*t show I ever saw…” I heard this as we left Country/Western night. It lasted a whole 15 minutes, and then it changed to latin night, with hours of latin dancing. The rest of the entertainment on the ship was poor, too. Nothing ever caught our eyes...or our ears, for that matter...and I was traveling with a group of about 25 people. I will give props to the Michael Jackson show...my second highlight of this cruise. It was pretty great. Service -- Here's where MSC really fails, flunks, falters, etc. The customer service is almost non-existent. The company simply doesn't care. We literally had drinks shoved at us, we had bartenders rolling their eyes when ordering simple drinks like rum and coke, and you just have to wait until they feel like serving you...oh, and don't be surprised if people who come after you get served first. It happened to us time and time again. Rajbir in the Jungle Bar was a great example of this. He caught my eye several times, and passed me over not once, not twice, but SIX times for people who came up to the bar after me. I finally had to say "EXCUSE ME" and he STILL didn't come to me. Another bartender, Reinan, stepped up and apologized for my wait, and said if I need anything else to please come to him...which I did. Some of these people really acted like it was a chore to serve. Well guess what? That is your JOB. If you don't want to be a bartender, then find another vocation. These bartenders also don't seem to know what they are serving. We got the MSC promotion "Drinks on Us." There are literally seven mixed drinks to choose from. it's not that difficult to get right. Vodka Lemon is one of the drinks. It's Bitter Lemon soda and vodka. Simple, delicious, refreshing. These people KNOW you have this drink package, and I can't even tell you all of the times that they messed that drink up by putting lemonade instead of Bitter Lemon, or Sprite instead of Bitter Lemon, or just plain club soda with a lemon...it was seriously mind-boggling. If you can't make the drink right, take it off the menu. Ports and Shore Excursions -- The ports were all fabulous, and I am not giving MSC an ounce of praise for them. They just chose where to stop. That's it. Good job at picking ports that every other cruise line also goes to. Here's your gold star for the day, MSC! Disembarkation --- This was the absolute WORST. After a week of misery and dealing with broken chairs, terrible customer service, and smell like pee and sewage, finally we could get off of this hell hole on water. The disembarkation is simple. You get a colored tag on your luggage, you go to that color area, and you get your suitcase. Easy peasy, right? Except when you have a red tag and your luggage is not in the red area. This is exactly what happened to me. We looked for about 15 minutes, and then asked someone. They didn't really care. The response was, "Well, sometimes the colors get mixed up. Look in similar colored areas." So, I did. We looked in fuchsia, brown, and purple...no luggage. I asked a second person. This person told me to "walk up and down all of the aisles to see if it's in another color." (Mind you, there are 5,000+ people on this ship, all with luggage...) No success there, so I asked a third person. He said the same thing...look in other areas. At this point, I started yelling to everyone, including my poor dad and some random people, about how much I hate MSC...and I meant it from the bottom of my heart. Yes, people stared, but I was done. I then went to another customer service rep. She said that it's possible the luggage is in the next area, which wasn't open yet. I asked when it would open and she said "Well, one person has the key, so it will open when he is ready to open it." At this point, it had been well over an hour since we had stepped off of the ship. About 10 minutes later, even as I huffed and puffed over this insane lack of customer service, the door opened. I pushed my way through the scores of travelers waiting to get THEIR luggage, and I saw my suitcase as soon as I walked in. Why? Because a bright red tag really stands out when it's in the light pink color area. I walked over and took my bag, and began to roll it out. My traveling companion was waiting for me, and as soon as she saw it, she gasped. I looked down and there was a HUGE dent in my BRAND NEW suitcase. If you thought I had lost my mind before, I hadn't...this was when I really lost my mind. I pushed my way back through and I was advised to go to this little desk where a woman was surrounded by people who had ALSO gotten their luggage damaged. I had to fill out a form, take photos, and she said, "Well, that luggage looks totaled." She gave me a card with some contact information on it, and said they would reimburse me for the damage, I just had to email them the information. So, I did...and this is the response I got back --- We are so sorry to hear that your bag was damaged during disembarkation. We make every effort to handle our guests’ belongings carefully and to deliver everything safely, so it’s disappointing that things went awry this time. As stated in our ticket contract, MSC is not liable for any damage to guests’ luggage. Now...here I am. Writing this review and trying to warn everyone out there about how terrible MSC was to us. I will never, ever, not in a bazillion years, EVER go on another MSC vacation, and I urge you to try any other cruise line in the world but MSC. My mom has gone on 16 cruises, and she said this was the worst out of every cruise she has been on. Read Less

My wife and I decided to try out msc after reading decent reviews about them online. This was my 10th cruise (past 9 on RCCL) and first one on msc. When we booked our trip in January of 2019 we paid extra for the fantastica experience since it offered 12 drink vouchers which we thought was a great idea! Well we sure were wrong! When we arrived on the ship we entered the room and didn't see any vouchers. So later in the evening proceeded to guest services to see if they could resolve. We got told that "msc discontinued the vouchers" and that "if we received them it would say on our cruise ticket packet." If it doesn't there's nothing they can do. So, the following morning we spoke with the bar manager at the cruise critic meet and greet and he gave us positive news stating that if we paid for them, we will receive them and he said it was wrong of guest services to deny them. Well of course there was a catch and when we visited guest services later in the day to find out what was going on, no surprise the bar manager changed his tune and re worded what he said earlier in the day. The main dining room service was miserable for us on the first night. We were seated promptly and waited well over 20 minutes to receive menus, water, and a bread basket. All of the large tables around us had prompt service, and had their entrees before we even placed our order, and those tables had 8+ people sitting at them while it was just me and my wife. Oddly I looked around and the section the rest of the groups were sitting in had the same server named on their tables as we did, except we never got served by those servers! After asking for the head waiter to explain what was going on, a server ran and found a random server to take our order in which he never introduced himself, never asked if we had any allergies, and never asked if we wanted to order from the bar. Overall the ship is clean, it's different, it has a nice layout, the sports bar is beautiful, rooms are clean and a nice size, bed is comfy. But the rest of the experience has ruined my views of MSC and I will never recommend them to anyone. Also the muster drill was comical, absolute chaos and people were so loud and so over packed into one area it was nearly impossible to hear what was being said or see the demonstration. For me I don't personally care since I've seen plenty, but for someone new to cruising they would've left there clueless as to what to do in an emergency. MSC also doesn't seem to care nearly as much as Royal Caribbean does about washing your hands and staying clean. The hand sanitizer stations are sparse around the ship and NOBODY uses the hand washing stations (we were even getting weird looks when we used them) Read Less

Embarkation was easy, you don't have to wait till your scheduled time to board the ship. It's easy linking a CC to your account via the little kiosks around guest relations. Service in the main dining room was good, not Royal Caribbean good but decent at least. That's about all the good I can say about this cruise line. The ship has no ATM on it, guest relations is absolutely worthless, food quality in the main dining room is absolutely awful as this may be the first cruise I've ever been on that I actually lost weight. The steaks are disgusting and full of fat. The elevators are always jammed packed. The level of rudeness of passengers is beyond ridiculous as well (not on MSC for this) but just saying the majority of passengers are not the typical American guests. The cabin was always clean, however if your not in a yacht club room get ready to not be able to sit on the toilet as your leg will go right into the cabinet below the sink. There was way too many bad things to write them all here, just take my warning of not booking this cruise unless it is $100 for 7 days I'll never sail with MSC again Read Less

New ship, great price point, included a drink package I've cruised Carnival, RCI, Princess - MSC Seaside was the worst for me. 100% horrible. I'm a travel agent. I took 125 people on MSC Seaside May 18, 2019. During our group photo's they refused to take pictures. they said we had to book an appt and pay $100.00 up front. So they make you pay, but what if you didn't like the picture?? The MANAGER was soo incredibly rude, kicked my family off the staircase, because we didn't book an appt. We lost our precious opportunity which was soo hard to get. MSC does not care about family or family values. How does someone see a family group and kick them off? Where was his kindness or his ability to take pleasure in seeing a family so together taking their pictures. So nasty. I will never return to MSC or will I ever try and sell MSC. The photographers didn't care what the pictures looked like. They were annoyed and snapped without looking to see if the picture even came out nicely. I couldn't even buy any of my family photos!! Will NEVER sail MSC... EVER!! 125 people - yes it's a lot, but we were just as entitled as anyone else. We paid our money just like everyone else. After the club, we had no where to eat. There was about 20 of us and everyone is given a curfew - while on vacation??? You're treated like children. I've never been on a ship where it didn't provide food especially after the club!! 1am at the Marketplace where they had pizza / sandwiches, tea / coffee - with a many people still sitting and enjoying their vacation time even with each other - and everyone was kicked out!! HORRIBLE!! They said there was room service but they only provided sandwiches. At formal dining, you order a steak and their side order was french fries?? Don't mention the roasted chicken which look like a beaten peice of chicken breast serviced with fries during formal dinner - I could've gotten that at IKEA! Who does that at main dining?? Ridiculous food and presentation. The food was horrible, I order 2 meals each time in case one tasted worst than the other - horrible experience for food. Cruise lines are known for good food - not MSC. disappointing! On board shops - hard to find! Horrible layout of the ship. Very choppy. Great sportsbar! Only staffed by 2 people when it was packed during a playoff basketball game. Beautiful cabins - would be better if our washroom was thoroughly cleaned. Shower was disgusting with black mold!! Great price point. Included a drink pkg - unfortunately you pay for what you get. Not enough staff. Public bathrooms - disgusting! Floor covered in water. Family member slipped so bad and damaged her knee - NO she did not go after them for money, but was incredibly disappointed in ability to keep the ship clean. Event Coordinator Francesca was excellent. She assisted with a group space and was so kind to assist with whatever we needed. When I had the issue with the Photography manager, she tried to help but the damage was already done. Could you possibly imagine how hard it was to coordinate everyone for pictures, when its already hard to find them on a cruise?? Deck party - at the end, they just stopped the music. You didn't even know the party was over. They didn't even thank everyone for coming out or encouraging them to go to the club. They said nothing and started taking down the decorations. Embarkation - they don't take your CC upfront, then you need to do an extra step to go to a machine to add your CC to your account. Disembarkation is a hot mess, not enough staff, no signs. As a cruiser - thank goodness this was NOT my first cruise. I could've walked away not liking cruises because of them. Read Less

Cruised on the MSC Seaside and it was the worst cruise I've been on (and I've travelled on Disney, Costa, Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Holland America). The seaside is a nice ship and the pool on the back of the ship was very nice, but that where it ends. Worst food ever tasted on a cruise. Nobody eats all their plate in the dinning room because food is too bad... but the alternative of the buffet is so poor that you have nowhere else to go. The pastas are horrible (plain watery sauce red or white...). The buffet has always the same menu (except a few exceptions). Everything is way overcooked. Shows are bad. dancers are good but the shows are so eclectic and the costume and choreographies are very basic which makes a 40 min show difficult to watch completely. Customer service is bad. They are patronizing and dont seem to be even a little interested to help you. Not worth the price (even if not expensive, even with a beverage package). I'll never cruise with MSC again. Read Less

Please do not waste your money, you will be very disappointed. The cruise ship itself is beautiful, but they are constantly charging extra for even the smallest things (Zipline, Gelato ice cream, a decent meal, etc) Our balcony cabin was very small and we had no hot water in the tiny shower. Asked for it to be fixed, it never was. Housekeeping was terrible. We were having to ask every day for fresh towels, and they do not provide bar soap.. only a terrible body wash. At the bar we waitied sometimes 45 min to get a drink. They are very under Staffed. The buffet food was disgusting, and they had no variety. If you wanted a decent mal you had to pay a fortune to go to the speciality restaraunts, and even if you bought the "dining Experience" package, you were left with 2-3 choices, and no opportunity to upgrade the meal unless you wanted to fork over another couple hundred dollars. Poolside on the 7th floor they refused to play any fun music they played elevator music, when I asked for more festive music and to turn up the volume a lttle, I was ignored. I left the ship in tears after saving for this "luxury Cruise" you are better off to book Carnival! The food is better and the ships are well staffed. I had planned on booking the MSC to Italy next year for my husbands birthday, but I now will NEVER Cruise with MSC again. Horrible experience Read Less

My friends and I wanted to try a new cruise line for my birthday. We decided to try MSC seaside since it had quite good overall reviews. But... The food was terrible. Even the buffet was terrible - and no different from day to day. I was surprised for a European company, I sure was expecting better. The food was absolutely tasteless. The entertainement was boring and eclectic. It looked like a low budget entertainement. They wanted to include everyone in the entertainement crew, but it didn’t even fit in the storyline. Plus, during the day, there were minimal to no entertainement at all. The only good part of their entertainement was the « adult comedy show ». Improv-like and funny. Almost no crew members were smiling. And absolutely no customer service what-so-ever. My friend was told to fetch himself all sorts of things and no one offered to help him out. Seriously, I’m never going on a cruise with MSC again. Read Less

Beautiful ship and easy on/off. But if you are looking for a cruise with good food, good service, good overall experience, then go somewhere else. The food...,especially what was served at the general seating...was worse than what my daughter gets at her high school lunches. The staff...rarely a smile, rarely a care. We ended up eating mostly at the buffet and even this was not pleasant....you would think they would serve something other than pork at the carving station. They have a sports bar but apparently the concept of watching sports at a bar is foreign to those at MSC. Putting a large screen showing espn with NO sound does not make it a sports bar. Oh and do not get sick if you go in this ship. There are no sundriies shops that carry OTC medicines to handle basic needs for coughs. They will however sell you an encounter with a “doctor” for a minimum of $115 to address your needs but first you have to get passed nurse Ratchet. In conclusion don’t waste your money. Read Less

The ship is beautiful, but that's about it. Don't be lured by the pretty pictures and attractive pricing. The only way I would ever sail on this ship again is if it's sold to either Norwegian or RCI. The staff are all either rude, incompetent, or just plain stupid. It's like they have had ZERO training. The buffet is a complete nightmare with no order or directions. The other guests (approximately 70% Italian) will just push their way in anywhere. They bump into you and don't even acknowledge it, let alone apologize. We bought the drink package, but it was only good for draft beers for us. My wife drinks Captain Morgan, but this is considered a 'premium' liquor so it cost $9/drink. No- they don't just charge the difference in price- they charge $9. The food in the main dining room was embarrassingly bad. It was pure slop and served by the most dismissive staff I have ever encountered. The food in the premium restaurant was good- but guess what? Everything costs extra there as well. The only steaks included in the dining package are an 8oz filet or a sirloin. Sirloin. When's the last time you saw that on a menu? The ribeye was great, but cost $48. Avoid MSC at all costs. If you have already booked, I would cancel. Otherwise you will be sorely disappointed. Read Less

MSC CRUISE -Seaside (Sunwing Vacation) March 23-30, 2019 If you are considering a cruise on one of the MSC cruise ships think twice! If you are handicap there is no thinking, DON’T! My handicap friend and I decided to go on a cruise six weeks before this cruise. The travel agent at Sunwing recommended this cruise line to us and told us that it would be perfect for us (I am in my early sixties and my handicap friend is in her mid-seventies). My friend needs the assistance of a walker but was reassured by Sunwing that it would not be an issue. So we went ahead and booked an inside cabin, we completed all the Sunwing and MSC forms regarding the dimensions of the walker and her disability. We then followed up with an email directly to MSC but never received a reply. So our journey began quite smoothly from Montreal having a wheelchair waiting at both airports (Montréal and Miami) until we went to the baggage carousel. There we no carts where we were and when we asked the MSC representative, she told us that there were none. I couldn’t believe my ears and asked her how could I manage carrying 2 Carry-on bags, 2 checked bags, and purses by myself, she looked around trying to avoid looking at me and then again requested help and she reluctantly gave me her cart that was holding her purse but instructed me to return it immediately after I loaded my luggage on the bus. Upon arrival at the Seaside ship it was great, an attendant had a wheelchair ready for her, the luggage was sent to our room and I had the walker which I loaded the Carry-on luggage and checked in, the attendant was with us during the check-in process then handed us to another attendant. This was great and our fears subsided. Our room was not ready, so we had a little bite. An hour later, we headed to our room, as we opened the door, the room was pitch black only the glimmer of the television was our light source. We had to call the front desk to find out how to turn on the lights and used the flashlight feature on our phone to find the box in which you had to insert the cruise card. Once the lights were on, I assisted my friend to come in but to our dismay her walker could not fit through the door, then the distance past the door was hindered by a wall mounted counter. We had to fold the walker to come in the room and once in, It was impossible to use the walker. The bathroom was a step up so I was quite afraid for my friend safety. Then, I realized that there was no plugs near the bed so I can plug in my sleep apnea machine. So, I immediately called the front desk and told them these issues and asked if we can be moved to a more handicap friendly room and requested an extension cord for my machine. I was told that they had to leave the Miami port to see if any rooms were available and would send me an extension cord which after 3 requests, I never received so I had to rearrange the bed moving it closer to the plug making it very uncomfortable. I waited 5 hours after leaving port and was told that they did not know if there were any rooms available and to call back the next day. I did as instructed and was told that I would have to wait until we leave our first port of call (Ocho Rio, Jamaica), I found that quite odd that they didn’t know if there were any empty rooms but they told me not to unpack until further notice. So we lived in our suitcases for 3 days. We never received a call from them so we decided to unpack. On day 5, after the late show which I must admit was amazing, we returned to our room and found a note addressed to my friend that she must call the front desk immediately for an important message. We assumed it was bad news from home and my poor friend was trembling as she waited for them to answer. Their message was as follows: We are sorry to inform you that we are fully booked and there are no rooms available but we would like to send you something right up as an apology. I waited till 12:30am but nothing came, nothing the next morning, afternoon or that evening. Remember this came on day 5 of a 7 day cruise. On day one, we had to go for a required safety drill, which was quite a joke, we were assembled in the casino and there were a few crew members showing how to put on your life vest. If you were lucky you could see a glimpse of the demonstration through the crowd of people, so now we know how to put a vest but no one told us were the mustard station were (we the life boats are located). We had pre-booked an excursion (Deluxe Beach Break, Cozumel) we chose this because they said that we can request beach wheelchairs but must book 24-48 hours in advance. We went to the Excursion desk on the ship and spoke to an agent and requested that he gets us the beach wheelchair, the agent did not know about this , went to speak to someone in the office and returned saying that it was not necessary since there are always someone to help you there. I requested again for them to reserve a wheelchair and again was given the same answer. Since we were not getting anywhere we left and hope that we would be able to get a wheelchair. We arrived at the beach and of course no wheelchairs available, the shops were ll 2 steps up and the bathroom did not have a ramp accessibility from the buffet, there was a ramp to go to the bathrooms from the beach only. On the last night, we received a disembarkation procedure letter and luggage tags. It told us to have our luggage ready outside our door by 11:00pm, the letter also said, please see reverse to see the disembarkation times, I turn over the sheet and it was blank. So again, had to go to the front desk wait 10 minutes and was given a sheet and the agent shows me the sheet and turns it over and says see, there is the times. I laughed and said that great but my letter did not have the times. He mad me feel like an idiot and I just wished I had brought that letter with me. I asked the agent what time the restaurant opened in the morning and he told me that only the buffets were opened. Our usual waiter in the morning saw us in the dining room and told us see you tomorrow for breakfast so I returned to the restaurant and asked them what time they opened, they told me 6:00 am. The staff (not waiters) are clueless, you ask for directions or the info you are given false or no info. The indications on the ship are confusing and all the floors are exactly the same decor. Very confusing to get around and we received more information from other passengers than the crew members. We were on floor 15 and they have a pool on floor 16 but we could not access it because of the Yacht Club when my friend asked a crew member how to get there from where we were he pointed to the stairs. IDIOT! They are not compassionate towards handicap guests, no consideration for their well being or safety. I WILL NEVER cruise on this ship line again nor would I EVER recommend them. In resume: Not compassionate cruise line Not handicap friendly Lumpy and uncomfortable beds Tiny inside cabins Food very average Great shows Read Less

We booked and saved for this cruise for over a year. This was first time cruising with MSC. From A-Z was bad. Room was never cleaned properly even upon arrival. Drawers had sand, etc in them, comforter had hole in it, closet door handle was broken off and under bed, the couch/bunk was never down in couch position, floors never looked vacuumed, I had to call numerous times for toilet paper because room attendant would "tidy" up but never refill paper or empty garbage cans. This is first cruise my family went on and actually lost weight. The food was horrible be it dining room or buffet. The show(S), was the same show with same performers every night. Just wearing different outfits and music. We booked 2 excursions through MSC. Both were a disaster. Manager at excursion desk and others were horribly rude to us and none of it was our fault! First excursion issue was Jeep tour did not take us to any of places listed, nor did we do off road as stated. Second excursion did not provide enough fairies for customers to get to destination. My family of 4 stood in direct sun on dock for 1 1/2 hrs then ended up on random small boat which took another 30 mins to get us to intended destination. Little/nothing to do for kids. They state arcade room, there are 6 games.....Both my children were bored. Kids clubs (when open), did not have much of anything going on. We spent so much money on this and are extremely disappointed. Read Less

We got a good price but not worth the money. I have been a Owner/Travel Agent for over 25 years and have never been treated so poorly. Most of the passengers were so rude. They pushed, they shoved, they treated Americans like we we're second class passengers. You couldn't get near a pool unless you got up at 4 am. To get away we had to go into port at every stop. Even then getting on and off the ship was like hearding cattle. More pushing and shoving. The food was okay. We had the drink package but they don't tell you about the 15% gratuity they add to your account EVERYTIME you get a water, a soda or a drink. The only good thing was our steward and our waiter William from the Butcher's Cut. If it wasn't for them the trip would have been unbearable. This was our first MSC cruise and trust me, it will be our last. We tried the Seaside as it was a new ship and and Italian line. Why not, right. As it turned out, even though we had the promotional drink package, the selection was extremely limited and of course, there was a service charge with every drink. It really added up for a "free" perk. The saving grace was that the service was so bad on this ship, waiting from 30-40 minutes for a drink, we couldn't get much consumed. Until they improve the service and attitude of the serving staff on this ship, few Americans and Canadians will ever cruise a second time on MSC. We never saw our room steward and the wait staff at dinner were robotic in their presentation. Try smiling once in a while. As for the food, Italian ship, Italian food, right? Wrong. The selection was limited and portions small. Three shrimp in a shrimp cocktail doesn't cut it. No spaghetti, lasagna once. Really ?? The ship was pretty but poorly planned out. Very limited venue space (Theater was small and lounges were even smaller). No comedy club but they did have an improv which was not very funny. The adult improv was the same as the family improv, except with courser language. The pools were not designed for people with mobility issues as all required ladders for entry/exit, dumb design. Also you aren't allowed to drink within the pool area, say what ??? This was a Caribbean cruise but the music at the pool decks consisted of electronic elevator music. Talk about elevators, this ship had a good number, too bad they were so poorly programmed that only one elevator worked in any elevator bank at a time. This will be our last trip on MSC until they get their act together or stay out of the American market. On this ship, free does not mean free Read Less

First the ship is beautiful. The cruise critic event was amazing might have been our best ever. During that event we were shown a presentation. That the msc seaside was designed especially for miami and that is was family owned and they wanted to treat you like family. We also matched from royal caribbean from diamond plus to gold. Which added not much value a drink package that was supposedly free however there was a surcharge on every drink. There was enough people from 6 different countries that each announcement had to be made in 6 different countries. The only time i have had that happen is in the mediterranean. So you felt like you were in europe. Dining staff took you order and brought no conversation. First night it took 45 minutes to get appetizers. We were giving the wrong food from someone several times. The dining room itself is a european open style which amplify the noise level so much so that you can hardly hear across the table.we wanted wine from our drink package however on the third night; we were told they had ran out and if we wanted wine it was an additional charge. But they had the wine in the specialty dining. We bought the specialty dining package which we told there was a savings. There was no savings at all. Plus if you wanted regular coffee with your dinner it was an additional cost. The bar service you had to request the bartender to come over to take your order. There was no bar service asking how can i help. We tried almost every bar on the ship and it was the same. Plus one bar had no coke zero or spirit zero and we were told there was none on the ship, yet you could walk to the next bar and they had. This include beers, wines and alcohols. We meet some several people that had wonderful time after the cruise. But they all had several things alike, yacht club, black card and max drink package. Msc has a special area and dining for yacht club and black card members. We asked and none of these people ate in the in dining room. Plus we only meet 2 other couples that spoke english on the whole cruise. Out of the 52 cruises i have been on this one ranked 51st.if you like to walk there is no walking track and the gym is tiny. Lines for the tread mills were long. Msc allows and it seems they encourage marking of lounge chairs by the pools. People were out at 5am marking chairs. We were looking for the walking track. I would not recommend msc seaside unless you can afford a suite for the yacht club and max drink package.last if you are disabled, we saw several that the doors are not wide enough to get there wheel chairs in. We had seen pictures and commercials for the MSC Seaside and were looking forward to cruising with a different line. Embarkation was a breeze. After the "fun"began. We were unable to select the dining or the entertainment before boarding, so we had to do that as soon as we boarded. Another negative was having to register our credit card upon boarding as opposed to prior to boarding. The entertainment was good...not great but good. The on us drink package was confusing. There was no rhyme or reason to what was included and what wasn't. The cabin was acceptable... balcony, bathroom and a bed. The shower was so small that I am not a large person and it was tight. Don't know what a large person would do. All things considered and tbe price of the cruise goes for the old saying...you get what you pay for. We wanted to try another (better) italian company instead of Costa. The "italian" on MSC was only the pizza. The rest was just poor. the food was everyday the same, almost no fish. The ceremony with waiters bringing in the desserts during the last elegant evening dinner was just ridiculous. They brought someting in on their trays, were dancing in front of us a little bit and ...than they brought everything away! Was it plastic? Probably. Together with Aurea we had booked the Easy Drink Package. The white wines from this paclage were terrible. Only 2 alcohol drinks were allowed: Moscow mule and Long Island Iced Tea. But you could order every alcohol free drink and the alcohol on the side. That was included in the package. So we were ordering "Nohito" and white rum on the side. And the stuff was looking at us like we would try to steal something. The staff spent more time on their smartphones like trying to do the job. The three most important things about a cruise to my wife and I are dining, entertainment and cleanliness. The MSC Seaside gets an F in all three. There were good things about this ship but these three items being so poor make this ship our worst cruise ever(actually our only bad cruise out of 9 total). If you choose to ignore all the bad reviews on this ship and take the Seaside it will probably be your first and last MSC cruise as it is ours. Dining: We chose second seating 7:15-7:30 and that is what our paperwork from MSC said but when we arrived our room card said 5:15. We spoke with the front desk and they told us to speak with the Maitre d at Ipanema (our assigned dining room). My wife went there and I stayed in the room. About 30 minutes later she came back to the room in tears. She told me that he told her there was no chance of switching dining times and she said “what if we don’t eat at 5:15” and he replied “well than you just don’t eat”. I went down to Ipanema with her at 5:15 and the Maitre d denied saying this, really just calling my wife a liar. We ate every dinner in the buffet on this cruise because of this experience. We did eat a lunch in the dining room on a sea day but the dining room is not open for lunch any other days. The buffet was the smallest, strangest buffet ever. They have two buffets on this ship but there is usually just half of one open. They serve the same stuff every day. At breakfast they have just one kind of sausage and just one king of potato really no variety at all. As you walk around the buffet it just repeats itself. They do have good pizza but the same four kinds every lunch and dinner. It was so terrible and we were so very disappointed. We refused to eat at the specialty dining because of the huge price tag. After all you subsidise the cost of specialty dining with the thousands you pay for a cruise. We have eaten at every specialty dining on every ship we have ever been on and never had to pay hundreds on an a la cart menu. We ate a few breakfasts in the dining room and the menu never changed. The tables are very close together and it was super loud. We were served coffee but no milk or there was no sugar on our table. My omelet was supposed to come with hash brown potatoes but did not on our first visit, on another day I ordered an omelet again and this time it did come with their version of a hash brown. Some processed junk. Definitely fast food like something you would get from McDonald’s. They never, not once got our meal right. We sat in the café and ordered large cappuccinos. They brought them to us in drinking glasses. We tried to use them but they were burning our hands. We asked the server why and she said they don’t have large mugs and the large size is just for takeout. She brought us paper cups to put over our drinking glasses and told us this usually cost extra. No kidding. I have more to say on dining but I will include it under cleanliness and you are not going to believe this but it is 100% true. Entertainment: In the theater the shows are 30 minutes max. They make no sense and are very karaoke. Recorded music and a few average singers. Every show has circus acts thrown in here and there and you would see the same juggler doing the same stuff one day and then the next as well. Some guy with a giant hoop would reappear one show after another. On more than one occasion they even lip synced songs. We went to a bar for Country night and a Haitian Caribbean band played such country favorites as Let it be (yap the Beatles) and don’t worry be happy. No I’m not kidding they actually did not play one country song…really. They had a DJ that played in the atrium regularly, actually they paid two that I counted. This is not your DJ that plays at your friend’s wedding, playing familiar songs from yesterday and today…nope. This was a record scratching dial turning DJ playing melodic sounds that never seemed to end. This would be ideal for teens at a rave on Ecstasy but I’m 58 and really didn’t get it. I will finish with this on entertainment, there isn’t a saxophone, trumpet, trombone on this ship. MSC is unbelievably out of touch with reality. Cleanliness: In our room as in every room, they do not use a top sheet. I have never slept in a bed without a top sheet, not on a cruise ship or a hotel, bed and breakfast not in any country. What’s with that? We insisted on one and they put one on our bed but it was never changed. OK this is crazy but absolutely true. We sat at our table for breakfast and our server walked over to a table nearby that somebody had recently left. He grabbed the bread basket off that table and placed it on our table. Really, he did this. It contained a few breadsticks and one bun. We were disgusted and shocked that they would do this right in front of us, as though it is common practice. We also watched as they made up a dirty table and left cutlery that appeared clean on the table for the next seating. A server that was walking around with a tray of Danishes and such approached a nearby table to offer them some. The gentleman sitting at that table did not have a side plate. The girl with the Danishes reached over to the next table and grabbed a plate and placed it on his table. He looked at her in shock and instructed her to get a clean plate as this plate was taken from a dirty table. Well that is what we saw with our own eyes. The menus were never wiped down and on the last visit to the dining room for breakfast our menu had bits of food stuck to it, yuck. So I’m not going to tell you what I liked because who cares about the things MSC did right when they can’t get these basic things right. Enjoy your next cruise, whoever you choose to cruise with. Our next is in Alaska with Princess and we know it will be way, way, way better than our MSC disaster. Read Less
