Hi, I have received so much help from posts on Cruise Critic, I thought I would pay it forward with my own review of our seven-day cruise last week on Harmony of the Seas. First, a little info about us. I was traveling with my DH, his three siblings and their families. There were 11 of us (six cabins) and we were all on Deck 9, forward. My DH and I have cruised many times on RC, but none of the other folks had ever been on a cruise. Since our nieces are in college and our nephews in high school, we didn’t experience Adventure Ocean or the teen programs. We all arrived in Cocoa Beach the afternoon before and stayed at the Holiday Inn-Cocoa Beach, next to the Publix. We hit a slight snafu when the hotel decided to arbitrarily change our hotel rate ($40-per-room increase). We had a copy of our confirmation with the rate displayed, but we were told that they could change the rate at check-in. The desk staff was not very friendly and we had to call corporate to get it resolved. Not a great way to start a vacation, but we vowed not to let it damper our trip. Because of the way we were treated and spoken to, I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone. The next morning, we took a private shuttle, booked via Larry’s Limos, and arrived at the terminal at 10 a.m. since I like to get to the ship early! In fact, we also used Larry’s Limos for our shuttle from MCO to the hotel the night before and I highly recommend them. Very fair rates, and they were very prompt and friendly! Security and check-in were a breeze and we were walking on the ship around 11 a.m. Of all the embarkation ports we have used, Port Canaveral was the easiest and quickest that I have experienced. They have really figured it out! We headed to the Windjammer for lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the ship. Muster went very smoothly and we set sail promptly at 4:30 p.m. The rest of the review, I will break down in categories. CABINS We were all on Deck 9 forward, near the elevators. Two of us had balconies and had the divider removed. The other four were inside cabins directly across the hall. My sister-in-law had connecting cabins with her two sons. All of us commented that there was plenty of storage room. I was impressed with how the bathrooms were laid out. Plenty of storage and the shower seemed bigger than smaller ships we have sailed on. Because there was so much to do on the ship, we really didn’t spend much time there other than to sleep and dress. DINING We did not eat at any specialty restaurants, so I can’t comment on them. We had breakfast each morning in the Solarium Bistro and loved the quiet atmosphere versus the Windjammer. It’s the same food, but less people and a more relaxing area. We also had lunch either in the Solarium Bistro or Windjammer, based on what part of the ship we were at once we realized we were hungry! I realize food is very subjective, but we enjoyed the breakfast and lunch offerings at both locations. For dinner, we had early Traditional Dining in Silk. Our oldest niece has severe food allergies and the staff was wonderful in addressing her concerns and providing her meals each night without the worry of an allergic reaction. In fact, the waiters and entire staff provided top-notch service to all of us each night. The food was very good, and my only “criticism” is that I have noticed over the years that the offerings tend to repeat more than they used to. SHOWS We had reserved all the shows prior to sailing, so we had no problems seeing them. The Fine Line was fabulous! By far the best show at sea I have ever seen, especially considering we were on a moving ship as they were performing their high-flying acrobatics. The second aqua show later in the week was fun, if not a little “campy.” We also enjoyed Columbus and the ice show, 1887. Again, Columbus was a little “campy,” but it was funny and enjoyable. The comedians on board were also very good and provided a lot of entertainment. I did not see Grease, but those in our group who did attend really liked it. The only show none of us made it to was the Headliner Show. GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT We saw a few entertainers at Dazzles. Very good singers and the variety of music offered something for everyone. Some of us participated in karaoke and we only wished it was offered earlier than 11 p.m. so we could have participated more often. CASINO The casino was a pretty good size and we never really had trouble finding a seat at the blackjack table. Half of the casino allows smoking and the ventilation system worked pretty well in keeping the air pretty good. I wish they didn’t allow smoking at all, but it didn’t bother us too much. The wait staff was a little slow at times bringing drinks. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES We were lucky to have fabulous weather the entire week, so the pools and whirlpools were always crowded. That being said, our group never had trouble finding lounge chairs by the pools and we never had to deal with “chair hogs.” The kids enjoyed the water slides as well. We also played mini-golf and table tennis. None of us dared to try the flow riders, but enjoyed watching those who did. A couple of us experienced the Abyss and zip-line and enjoyed those as well. COCO CAY Since my husband and I aren’t really “beach people,” we decided to stay on the ship and explore. The rest of our family spent the day there and really enjoyed swimming and hanging out at Chill Island. They all said they would love to go back again. They did not use the water park or other “paid” options. ST. THOMAS We did not book an excursion, but took a taxi into Charlotte Amalie and went shopping for jewelry and other souvenirs. All the taxis have specific rates posted based on where you want to go, so no one needs to negotiate or worry about being taken advantage of. After shopping, we took another taxi from downtown to Magens Bay. We took a wild ride over the mountains to see this beautiful beach. The roads are very narrow and the locals seem to have no fear when navigating them! We really enjoyed Magens Bay before heading back to the ship. Our taxi driver also stopped at a couple of lookout points for us to take pictures. All in all, we all enjoyed St. Thomas. ST. MAARTEN This was my first time back to St. Maarten since the hurricane and you can still see restoration projects in process. Our group took the ship’s excursion to Maho Beach. Many in our family are aerospace enthusiasts, so we really enjoyed spending the day watching the planes land. This really isn’t a swimming beach (there was noticeably less sand than our previous visit before the hurricane), but our nieces and nephews did take a dip in the water. The adjacent restaurant, Sunset Beach, offers a great outdoor space to sit and have lunch while watching the planes land. We all enjoyed having a Guavaberry Daiquiri with our meal. The food was excellent and plentiful as well. Typically, I am not a big fan of large groups on a tour. However, this time, it worked well since we were only going to one location and no one on the bus was interested in stopping for optional photo ops or stopping in downtown for shopping. PORT CANAVERAL I have cruised out of many different ports over the years and this was by far the best experience I have had with a port. From baggage handling to check-in to customs and ground transportation, it was such a smooth experience. I look forward to many more cruises out of Port Canaveral! GENERAL OBSERVATIONS We booked this specific cruise because we knew Harmony would offer something for everyone. Harmony is a beautiful ship and in great shape! It was so smooth, it didn't feel like you were on a ship. Before the cruise, I was concerned about potential crowding problems. These concerns were unfounded as the layout of the ship and “neighborhoods” really spread folks around. The only time I really noticed the crowds was when the shows let out and at lunch at the Windjammer. Almost everyone on the ship seemed to be having fun and we only observed a couple of people who weren’t in the best of moods. This was a fabulous vacation for our entire family and are thrilled that our “cruise newbies” really loved the cruising experience. Read Less

Cruised with 27 others. Had family, friends and Niece and Nephew 17&18. HOTS june 2019. We all felt the free food was excellent except for Solarium poor service & food. I reserved two times for free dinner every night, Solarium 6pm and then also My Time Dining 8:30 since we had no idea of show times & did not want to miss since dinner service is alloted 2 HOURS every night. The room attendants and food staff that we saw or spoke were almost all exceptional. There is an 18% tip already paid, we paid an extra 10 to 15% on top and could charge to our room. RC constantly nickel and dimed during the entire pre cruise, items that stated would be included were not get everything email led to you if they tell you something. Voom almost NEVER worked, no way to communicate with rest of our group, RC should atleast put dry erase boards on doors so we could tell everyone where wewent and in four hours where we will be. Print out your entire daily planner, to prove what you paid for and time you scheduld since their app hardly worked. I had to fight to get 1-arcade $ back, since card did not work( had already worked with attendant night before), 2- $ back from cancelled port RC excursion, 3- proof of dinner reservation # reserved and time 4-i have limited mobility and diarrhea was noted on my reservation and RC could not confirm where the $1200 Chill Island Cabana i paid for was..of course 2nd in line on Day one excursion CS had my reserved cabana the farthest last one as far away from bathrooms as possible to walk in 4 inch sand THANKS RC for working with me . 4- got $ back on voom since down so many days. 5- got $ money off cabana since items that should have been included were not - combination locking lid, speaker, usb outlet all none Existant. 6- Got bottle of wine since CS sold me personal Flowrider for my Fam of 3 (my Ipad blocked some drop downs for some reason and i never could read the excursion notes) but not the personal whole hour one on one, was only personal with 12 other guests. 7- RC sponsored excursion start time changed weeks ago, noth Ng noted on my stuff, noone informed us i guess they dont know how to pick up phone or knock on door but willing to interupt my meal to ask me to change my dinner time to 9pm for the remainder of the cruise. Oh the biggy, the weather was crummy, the second largest ship in the world swayed all day and night the first 3 days - in bed, during day, durring dinner, on top deck on bottom deck while walking, everywhere. It was not killer, but i have vertigo so it affected me more than others, but everyone was talking about it. Cool to watch the water swaying out of the pools though. So when it rains no Flowrider, mini golf, rockclimbing or ofcourse pool..could use hot tub since under cover. Since voom did not work, dinner reservation for everyone went out the porthole, first three nights instead of 2 hrs, took an extra 30 to 45/min to seat, so turned into 3 HOURS for dinner. Which dominoed into evening events , that were cancelled. Bummer again. Ps RC luggage tags are competely different, confirm size and shape before buying the cutesie tags. We had an okay time, expectations were high, being let down could have been avoided. Check out Rcblog to get good tips. Read Less

My wife and I have been on many cruises including the Oasis and Allure of Royal Caribbean. Of all the cruises we have taken this one was our biggest disappointment. The entertainment is the highlight of this ship. I do not think any other cruise line does a better job. Make sure if you are considering booking that you book early. Many of the shows fill quickly, especially the comedy shows. The room although small was comfortable and the steward kept it neat and clean. The excursions were organized although a little high priced. I strongly recommend XPLOR in Mexico. A little high priced but a great time. The biggest disappointment was the food. The amount of choices have dropped dramatically. Many items repeated constantly. Quality was average. We ate mostly at the buffet. The first morning it took us forever to find a seat and the line was so long we decided we would skip breakfast the rest of the cruise and go to an early lunch. The line was always long. Seating was usually difficult even though they sometimes closed off half the dining room. One night we went and it was so packed we decided to go to the show and then come back later. We got there a little after 9 and the buffet was closed! The enjoyment of a cruise is you eat when you want to. Never been on a cruise were they closed all free eating by 9! The pay to eat restaurant were all still open and doing good business, some being open till 3 in the morning. I think they are trying to force goers into pay to eat. We actually went to be hungry that night because we refused to pay more. Of all the cruised we have gone on we enjoyed this one the least. Read Less

My son, daughter-in-law, two granddaughters, wife and I sailed on the Harmony of the Seas departing on June 9, 2019 returning on June 16, 2019. The itinerary was Perfect Day at Coco Cay, day at sea, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and two additional days at sea. Our staterooms were 7630 and 7632, adjoining Jr. Suites. Note that my wife and I are experienced cruisers with more than 20 cruises, most with Celebrity and Royal but with others as well. This cruise vacation is summarized below. We live in Orlando so getting to Port Canaveral is an easy drive. We left the house at 9:45 and arrived at the port about an hour later. I dropped off our bags passengers and parked in the onsite garage which was very convenient though a little pricey. Check-in was very quick as we used the Royal App and had all information on our cell phones. I purchased the digital photo package on-line prior to the cruise so we had numerous photos taken on boarding. The on-line price for the package was $249, onboard it was over $300 (although Royal had different promotions for it throughout the week). Our rooms were obviously not ready so we headed to Park Café for lunch and to make our home base until the rooms were opened up which occurred at 1:00 as advertised. While others were getting their lunch I headed up to Country Kitchen to make our dinner reservations for a party of 6. This was my first disappointment on the cruise. I asked for reservations at 6:00 each night but was informed the restaurant opens at 5:15 so I could have 5:15 or after 7:00. They told me that they only had two tables for 6 so that was my only option. After much haggling they gave me 5:45 for the first 3 nights but 5:15 for the remaining nights. I chose to chill and explain the situation to my son and daughter-in-law but they were not happy as 5:15 as it was way too early for them. 5:15 was too early for my wife and I as well for that matter. Getting two young children (5 & 23 months) and themselves ready by that time would significantly eat into their afternoons. In hindsight I should have bumped up my issue to a higher authority above the restaurant manager. This situation resulted in much stress each afternoon but we all coped the best we could. I am not sure why they couldn’t accommodate my request as the restaurant was half empty each night and they easily could have created a table for 6 as they did one night. After lunch we headed to staterooms and met our stateroom attendant. As always the rooms were very nice and spacious with lots of storage space. If within your budget I would highly recommend booking a Jr. Suite as it just makes the cruising experience a little more pleasant. We had the divider opened between our two rooms making it essentially a two room suite. The grandchildren enjoyed being able to come over at will. Our stateroom attendant was friendly and did a great job doing his job. I would say he exceeded my expectations for service. Day two was supposed to be our Perfect Day at Coco Cay. It turned out to be anything but perfect. I bought tickets to the Thrill Water Park for all (the 23 month old was free) paying a little over $300 on-line prior to the cruise. I did my research and both my son and I clearly understood the restrictions for the 5 year old and what she could ride. However once inside the park what we thought the 5 year old could ride she could not even though she was well over the lower height restriction. The problem, we did not put a life preserver on her, our bad. But the life guards did not advise or direct us to do so either. They simply said she could not ride. Also for the adults the wait times on the rides were anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. They also closed the rides for 2+ hours do to lightening in the area (10 mile radius) although it never rained on site. Bottom line is that in a best case you could get maybe 5 rides in. In our case after taking time out for lunch and letting the kids play in the areas outside the water park none of the adults rode any of the thrill rides. The next day I received a message asking me to review the Perfect Day at Coco Cay and I gave it a very negative review. Subsequently I was contacted by guest services to clarify my review and in that conversation I requested compensation for my dissatisfaction. At first they offered 25% refund, which they were refunding everyone because of the weather closing, but I was adamant that I received zero value for my money. After two additional conversations with guest services and the manager of shore excursions they refunded me my total amount. I am happy that Royal eventually took my complaint seriously and did what I believe is right but I am disappointed that it took so long to do so. Bottom line is make sure you are willing to wait on long lines and maybe get only a few rides in. Also if you have a young ones over 40 inches but not yet 48 inches put a life vest on them (note though I only saw a 48 inch height gauges no 40 inch gauges). Also RCL should figure out how to accommodate chaperones who do not ride on the attractions such as older grandparents, why charge someone who is not using the facility. Will I use the facility again, maybe, but at least I will go in with full knowledge that I am just giving Royal my money with little value in return. Other ports were essentially noneventful. Getting off and boarding at each was easy and quick. We didn’t take any tours and simply made them beach days. In St. Thomas we took a taxi to Emerald beach which worked well for us. In St. Maarten we took the water taxi to town and rented chairs and beach umbrellas. We also had a great lunch in town in a restaurant along the boardwalk. The water taxi worked out well so I would recommend it if it works into your plans. On previous cruises to St. Maarten we simply walked into town which is an easy walk. Our dining experience onboard was mixed. We only used Windjammer for breakfast and lunch a few times. I was very disappointed in the breakfast served there. In the past on Harmony you could get eggs benedict there but not on this cruise. Also in the past you could get omelets made to order, no more, only pre made omelets. Pancakes and waffles were also pre made and were cold and dried out. You could get fried eggs to order though. Lunch in Windjammer was a little better. Windjammer food quality and choices though are simply declining. We went to American Icon twice for breakfast and it was ok but not great. I ordered eggs benedict and the eggs were over cooked and the Hollandaise Sause was dried out on top. Second time I simply ordered eggs over medium and they came out as you would expect. They also had a very good French toast that I enjoyed. In short I would say everyone in our party enjoyed their breakfasts in American Icon. The best breakfasts we had on the ship however was at Johnny Rockets, killer omelets with nice country fried potatoes in a nice location on the ship. Also Johnny Rockets had plenty of seating and service was quick and friendly. We also used Mini Bites a few times for lunch and snacks and were pleased with the offerings there. We ate dinner the second night of the cruise in Wonderland as my wife and I enjoyed it on our last cruise on Harmony. No so much this time. We simply remember the dining experience being much better. The meal was ok but nothing to write home about. We used a specialty dining coupon we had from our TA and in retrospect we should have eaten at Park 150, we have never been disappointed there. All other dinners were in Coastal Kitchen. The reservation times aside the staff there was spectacular. They honored our every request including asking for several items from the MDR. They were great with the children. The food offerings there however were not as good as I remember it on past cruises. One of the reasons I book a Jr. Suite is to dine in Coastal Kitchen. In the past we found it better than any specialty restaurant on the ship, but not on this sailing. We found the menu selections ordinary, nothing special. The head chef came by each evening and one night I asked him if the menu was his or Miami’s, he said Miami. Too bad, I think in the past the chef may have been given more flexibility to use their creativity in creating dishes. The food was not bad, just not the exceptional dining experience I have become accustomed to. One big mistake serve what is on the menu, one night they said they had Pear Salad but when it was served it was apple salad with a different dressing. The server should have known that the Pear salad was not available. No killer nightly dessert either, just ho-hum. As with Windjammer dinner in Country Kitchen appears to be on the decline, at least on this ship. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable. We have been on Harmony in the last 18 months so the shows have not changed. Make sure you make reservations online well in advance on line, we did and it worked out great. Although we enjoyed the shows we look forward to RCL rolling out some new shows on Harmony. I found the musicians on this cruise to be outstanding, better than I have been accustomed too. The two comedians onboard Nery Saenz and Heath Harmison were fantastic, very funny guys. The Headliner Showtime act, Tribute Band, Private Stock, was ok but not a great show although many in the audience enjoyed them more than I. Another new item I did not appreciate was the large number of reserved seats for suites (Grand and above), Diamond Plus (not there yet, maybe never) and Pinnacle as well as seats for those that purchased The Key. It used to be that the first couple of rows were reserved for Suite guests, now 2/3 of the seats in the center section are reserved for the above, very disturbing. It simply means getting in line early at the front so you can run to get your seats when the doors open. This simply creates more stress and watch watching during dinner. Guess it is just another indication of the cruise line going back to the class system; regular paying customers are not as appreciated as they were in the recent past. Daytime activities onboard were very good and what have become accustomed to. Note however a change in the procedures on the Flow Rider. My son is a very experienced Flow Rider having sailed on Freedom, Independence and Harmony. He signed the waiver, got his wrist band and was in line for about 30 minutes for the standup Flow Rider when the attendant told him he needed to ride the knee board Flow Rider first and get a different colored wrist band. So this cost him about an hour of wasted time in total. He should have been advised of the change in procedure when he signed the waiver. He complained and they began making announcements to this requirement, it would have been nice if they were making announcements prior to his complaint. Apparently this is a new procedure implemented a few months back, not sure what its purpose it has. I do not like writing what is mostly a negative review, particularly since my past sailings on RCCL have been outstanding. So what is my take away, will I sail with Royal again, sail on Harmony again? Probably yes to both depending on value and the itinerary. As I live in Orlando I will likely sail on whichever Oasis class ship Royal is sailing from Port Canaveral, not sure it is worth the drive to Fort Lauderdale or Miami for me. But given the value of the cruise and itinerary driving south is always an option. Will probably only sail RCL though with grandchildren, for me Celebrity is still my go to cruise line and ships. But I will also be looking more closely at Princess as I have had good past experiences with them as well. Read Less

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT, BAD SERVICE AND MEDIOCRE FOOD THE BAD RC has gone to new depths to encourage you to spend money. There is no comfortable seating anywhere in the ship, including your cabin, except in the bars. There is no place to sit and read a book. Indeed, there is no library on board. The only half decent food is in the specialty restaurants. So if you do plan to go, despite my warnings herein, add the cost of specialty restaurants to the price of the cruise and make your reservations early. Their on ship app is awful and frustrating, it has limited information, doesn’t always work, and doesn’t notify you if you get a message. So....you will have to buy the WiFi package. The upsell is constant and they must be under a lot of pressure to make quota because they won’t take no for an answer......so very annoying. The shops are over-priced, you can get the same thing in the overpriced tourist traps on shore cheaper. One thing of note, an 18% tip is added to all the bills and called a “service charge”. . So when you are contemplating a tip keep in mind that you have already given them 18%. For myself, I don’t appreciate the deliberate deception. Give great service for a great tip. THE UGLY MEDIOCRE FOOD. Looking forward to great food on your cruise? You won’t find it here. This ship falls way below standards. In main dining the chef does a decent job of cooking the meat properly, but the meat is of the poorer cuts and such low quality that it is tough to cut and chew. The sauces are watery and served skimpily, perhaps a tablespoon. I can’t say if they are tasty as there is not enough served on your plate to make a determination. I don’t know what the eggs are, but they are not real eggs....powder maybe? Note: if you still take a cruise on this ship, there is a fried egg station hidden aft ..... we found it on Day 6. OJ is simply disgusting, not made from oranges. I could go on. Most of the alternatives for lunch, such as Johnny Rockets, aren't worth paying extra for. BAD SERVICE. The wait service in main dining is non-existent. They are quick to take your drink order and charge your account, but you can wait up to 17 minutes (we timed it one night) to have your food order taken. THE GOOD WONDERLAND SPECIALTY RESTAURANT In contrast, we ate at Wonderland one evening and experienced the best meal we had of our life. We have traveled around Europe and the US to some of the best restaurants, so that is saying something. The creativity, the imagination...and I’m talking about the food, not just the surroundings. Bread made into foam, clear tomato juice, meringue dessert in the shape of toadstools. The explosion of flavors as they hit your palette. I won’t spoil the awesome surprise with the smoking eggs and chocolate dessert. Don’t let the menu dissuade you, this is an experience not to be missed and be prepared for the gastronomic experience of your life! THE GOOD GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. I was very impressed with the variety of entertainment and quality of the performers. The ice shows were spectacular. We saw 1887 and the iSkate show, the latter being one put together by the performers themselves. They are world class champions skating for your entertainment pleasure. The aqua show was equally outstanding. The stage rises and falls, the choreography is wonderful.....high divers, tight rope walkers, and a guy who twirls for 10 minutes. We asked, because we had to know, but apparently he meditates and that’s how he can do it for so long. The thing to keep in mind is that they are doing all this on a ship that rocks back and forth! There is also a lot to be said about the cool things on the ship. Imagine the elevator doors opening up and there before you in the elevator is a funky guy with a funky hat, singing and playing the piano.... a piano in the elevator! I rode up and down with him and had a jolly good time. So cool! Or you can order a drink and watch a robot make it for you! Too cool! Or you go sit at a bar in Central Park to have a drink and the entire bar rises and falls three stories! Or ride a carousel....on a cruise ship. Or how about watching a replica of the kinetic sculpture of Kafka in Prague (a silver head that turns around in sections). Hard to describe. Zip lines, water slides, this ship has it all. For us, this was our first and last RC cruise, even if they did improve the service and the food. In addition to the things discussed above, there is music everywhere. You cannot get away from it. Music in one area competing with music in another area. Then on top of that, the many passengers trying to talk above it all. Waiting long periods of time for the elevator because of the masses of people waiting for one.The lack of comfortable seating. The void of a place to go an sit quietly and talk or read. The awful food and service. I can spend my money on a ship far more enjoyable that doesn't confront you with a sales pitch at every turn Read Less

We' cruised on the Allure out of Ft Lauderdale the past two years and wanted to try a new new ship. We traveled to CoCo Cay, St Thomas and St Marteen on the trip. OUr daughter and her best friend just graduated from college and the trip was a gift to them. We took the Cortrans shuttle service from the Embassy Suites airport hotel in Orlando to the cruise port and from the cruise port to the airport at the end of the cruise. Relatively inexpensive, timely, friendly and comfortable. Embarking at Port Canaveral was a breeze. On the ship in 15 minutes from the time we stepped off the shuttle. The Harmony is big, beautiful, and busy. Longer lines than the Allure, but nothing severe. All the shows were fantastic, and the food was great. We tried the Abyss slide (very cool, only slightly terrifying at the beginning) and the water slides. Both were fun. We also did the Escape Room on the trip and found it very entertaining. We did "escape" with ten minutes to spare lol. We've done the zip line and rock climbing on previous cruises. The water view rooms we booked (3654, 3656) were fantastic! Quiet, convenient and perfectly situated. After the cruise the wife and I both agreed that we liked it better than our previous interior balcony view rooms on deck 12 on the Allure. Steps from the elevator and main dining room, but around a corner so there wasn't much foot traffic going by, and plenty of room to move inside, with lots of storage. St Thomas, St Johns and St Marteen have all come a long way from the hurricane damage of 2017. We love St. Marteen and toured the nation park on St. Johns. It was incredibly beautiful and we would love to go back. On St Marteen we toured Ft Luis in Marigot and took the See and Sea tour at Grand Case. Much cooler than I expected! Saw sting rays, sea turtles and a barracuda at the reef. The "kids" did the sting ray excursion at Coco Cay and the Sea Lion excursion at St. Thomas and can't stop talking about them. And speaking of, Coco Cay was wonderful. Lots of activities on the island, beautiful beaches and the water was amazing. We went kayaking and saw coral reefs and sting rays swimming by. Also spent some time swimming in the huge freshwater pool. We both liked it even more than Labadee. Dining room was excellent as always and it seemed that the staff on the entire ship have been given happy pills. The crew members on RCCL have always been great, but this was over the top. You always felt like a VIP every time you interacted with a crew member. All in all a great time! Read Less

This cruise ship was amazing and the staff was really nice and informative. After watching YouTube videos I had expectations of the embarkation and disembarkation to be a madhouse and frustration. But to my surprise both the embarkation and disembarkation was really smooth. We got to the terminal around 11:00 and we was on the ship by 11:30. (we did online check in prior, which I highly recommend) As far as disembarkation we left around 9:00 we waited in line to get off of ship for like 20 mins. Our suitcases were easy to find as well. Overall for disembarkation it took us like 45 mins to actually get in the shuttle to go to the airport. The ship was sold out so we had close to 6,000 people and yet it didn’t feel crowded. We wasn’t bumping into each other. The ship was so nice and clean. My husband and I stayed in a ocean view balcony cabin and it was spacious. I wasn’t feeling our stewardess, I feel she could had been a little more attentive. We had prepurchased dinner for 2 specialty dining and let me tell you that we wasted our money. The food nor the wait staff was good. We went to 150 Central and Chops Grill and we were so disappointed. We had a reservation for hibachi for our anniversary but we cancelled and got a refund because we were afraid we would had the same bad experience that we had with the other two restaurants. But let me tell you... the main dining for dinner was really good. Also the windjammer for breakfast and lunch was on point. They had plenty to choose from and the food was delicious. We saw the shows and hands down the best one to me was Columbus. Grease was not good at all!!! It was too long ( 90 mins) and boring. If we weren’t sitting in the middle of the row we would had been left and found something more exciting. The karaoke had limited out of date songs. They really need to update this. But overall this was a nice experience and I most definitely will go again. Next year we are doing the Symphony of the Seas only because it’s a littler bigger than Harmony and I want to see what it has to offer. Read Less

Will do it again next cruise.First time to Coco Cay. Amazing day. Only cost was for the Balloon ride. What fun. Got some great photos. The pool is great. Perfect depth and little benches and in water lounges a plus. The food was outstanding. Good variety. Can't wait to go back ..Had fun in the ports.Did the Chocolate tour in Roatan. Very informative and made some chocolate from bean to candy. Just walked around Cozumel and Costa Maya as we have been on most of the tours there already. Embarked at 11am very quick and was on the ship and eating lunch by 11:15. Disembarked at 6:30 and it was a very quick walking. About 10 min to car. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it worked for our kid's spring break. We were concerned about it being crowded since it was a sold out cruise but I can say we never once felt like it was crowded. The design of the ship is supposed to prevent overcrowding and it worked. We had an owners suite, which provided so much room for two adults/two children. Our balcony included a dining table for 4, 3 lounge chairs, and plenty of space just to walk around. The perks for being in a suite are huge. The private restaurant, which hosted a nightly "happy hour" in the bar, offered complimentary wine, beer, and cocktails and a nice variety of appetizers. The common areas were in different themes, very beautiful. Central Park was full of trees and plants, almost forgot we were on a ship. My kids loved being able to get a slice a pizza anytime they wanted. Restaurant staff went out of their way to provide great service. The only time it ever felt a little off was in dining room, that may be due to how busy it was. The food was great, Windjammer was surprisingly good for a buffet. Something for everyone, great variety of ethnic food. There was so many choices for entertainment, our kids had a blast ice skating. We loved the rock climbing, Flow rider, mini golf. The spa...……….. Let me just say I wished we had skipped it. Beautifully designed but I had flashbacks of Timeshare seminars. My daughter and I booked a simple treatment (eyebrows) only to find ourselves in the middle of a cosmetic procedure presentation. We checked in, filled out the paperwork and were directed to sit in the café until our names were called. And there we sat, watching hard sell tactics for Botox and a variety of "work". After 45 minutes I had to remind staff we were still there. I was then reprimanded for sitting in the wrong spot and told I needed to relax and not be so grumpy. The procedure involved my daughter being insulted about her skin and me being reminded I should relax more. Oh, and would I buy their products. A spa should be a place of relaxation, not coming off as a used car lot full of sharks. Hard-sell tactics are such a turn off. That being said, the cruise was nice, ship beautiful, food really good, entertainment and activities great. Shore excursions are what you make of them. The spa is beautiful, but not a relaxing place. We would go on this same boat in a heartbeat! Read Less

Being very loyal to Royal, and having been on more than 60 cruises we go with an open mind with intent on having fun. I hate to post anything negative unless it's something important so here goes, I'll get the bad out of the way first. Morning one, we decided to have breakfast at mini bites. It was scheduled to open at 7. We arrived shortly after. It was not open so I asked if I could get a cup of coffee and wait. I was told they don't have any coffee there. A breakfast place without coffee? Ok so we went all the way forward to the solarium bistro which was open, got coffee and tea and went back to mini bites because it is one of the few places that make omelets. We placed our order, they gave us a number to place on our table and said they will bring the food to us. After a very long wait, our omelets arrived, cold!. As we waited we noticed flies feeding on the food in the serving line. I found a supervisor and told him what was going on. As soon as the staff saw him, out came the coffee they claimed they didn't have. We left without finishing our COLD eggs and didn't eat there again. Latter when we passed by, the food was covered, hum maybe it was still the same food the flies were enjoying? On the up side if you are an omelet lover we found them at Johnny Rockets. No charge for breakfast, the food was very good and the service excellent. Best of all it was clean and no flies. Next gross issue. It's becoming more common. People putting their bare feet on top of tables. What are they thinking? Would they want to eat of their own table knowing someone has been using it a foot stool? Let's think about the health issues and keep your feet off the tables. Ok enough about the bad stuff. The cruise was very good. But it's more geared to younger cruisers and those with families. If you are a more traditional cruiser this might not be for you. Boarding was the fastest ever in the more than 60 cruises we have been on. They used scanners to confirm our boarding pass. We went directly on board, got something to eat and went to our cabin. The sea passes were on the door of the cabin and our luggage arrived shortly after. Very impressive. Our cabin was a balcony overlooking boardwalk. We wanted to check it out since were we determining if our grandson would enjoy the Harmony for his first cruise. It was a bit noisy at times but lots of fun to watch what was going on and we're sure our grandson will enjoy it. We saw lots of kids having fun and would recommend this ship for anyone with families. The cabin was one of the best we have had. Lots of storage, plenty big for 2, nice bathroom roomy shower, comfortable bed and a great cabin steward. After the first morning disaster we had all our breakfasts at Johnny Rockets. Very good and great service. The rest of our meals were at the Windjammer. It could be crowded at times, but it you avoid the peak times you'll have no problem finding seating. The staff was super, the WD was clean and lots to choose from. Some of the meats were a bit dry but overall the food was very good. The layout is a bit odd and you get the feeling you're hunting for you food instead of just going to a buffet. We saw it as a fun challenge. The crew was great, the ship clean and well maintained. Being older and more of the traditional type of cruiser we felt the only down side was the lack of dancing earlier in the evening. They had nice bands almost nightly, but they didn't play until around 9PM. That tends to interfere with other activities we'd like to do in the evenings. Overall we had a great time but unless we take our grandson on a cruise we'll stick with the smaller ships. But like I said I'm sure if you have a young family you'll enjoy the Harmony. Read Less

This was my 9th and LAST RC cruise. It started with the most disorganized safety breifing and got worse fron there. The VOLUME of music is intended to cause hearing loss. Not just the venues, the music playing around the ship. The pool deck is so loud you cant hear someone speak directly in your ear. There are NO quiet places to smoke and only one quiet place without A/C to play games. Don't ask the crew where or when anything is- they do not know or care. We tried Trivia but the two spermalougers were snarky, condescending jerks. RC sold us a cabin with noise intrusion nightly (from an aqua show) without telling us. We gave RC four weeks to apologize, refund, or respond and we got nothing. The Columbus Musically has multiple burping lines. It's a cross between Pirates of the Pinzance, spring time for Hitler. To say it was terrible would be to give it too much credit. There were plenty of things to do for an upcharge- escape room, specality resturants, zip lining. The Kareoke bar is only open for two- three hours per day even though it is a kareoke specific bar called "on air". Generally open from 11pm u til 1:30 AM. Not all of us need liquid courage. We chose this cruise because we love the Oasis class ships and had been on Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas the two previous years. While they are all very similar, each has their different nuances. We have been on 12 cruises ( 8 with Royal Caribbean ) and this was by far absolutely the quickest embarkation ever. I can't say enough good things about it. I had coffee one morning with a guy that had been on over 70 cruises ( not a travel agent ) and he confirmed what I already knew, Royal Caribbean all the way. They have the embarkation down to a science. Another thing I've always liked about Royal Caribbean is they do the muster drill in one of the dining rooms so there is a place to sit as opposed to other lines that have you stand for 30 minutes or more on one of the outside decks. The ship itself was beautiful and well maintained. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely sail on this ship. The only thing I noticed and didn't like was that you could hear the noise inside your cabin from the Boardwalk whereas on the Oasis and Allure, you could not. We also noticed that the closets were configured differently ( which we liked ) and had drawers in them which the other ships did not. The shower was noticeably bigger with a completely closing glass surround. ( again, we liked this ) I don't remember the name of the motel we stayed in ( Titusville )( I think it was a Quality Inn ) but it was a dump and the steakhouse that they were so high on ( on the grounds ) had good food but I don't think they've cleaned their bathrooms in a couple of years. Our room steward Delano was great and very attentive. The entire staff was very friendly. The cabin was always very clean although I wished they had vacuumed a little more. Shore excursions were mediocre at best. Next time, I will not book any shore excursions. Perfect Day at Coco Cay was fabulous. We had a 10 o clock balloon ride booked which they had to cancel due to the wind. ( Royal Caribbean has no control over the weather ) Even though it started off cloudy in Port Canaveral, we had pretty good weather 95% of the time. ( again, Royal has no control over mother nature. ) The new Coco Cay is gorgeous. The entertainment on board was superb. As a guy, I don't normally like musicals but I thoroughly enjoyed Grease. Great production. We traveled with another couple and they enjoyed the cruise as much as we did. The service in the MDR was a little slow but there are 13 complimentary places to eat so this really didn't matter. That's another thing I like about the big ships, variety. Even though it was a large ship, I've been on smaller ships that seemed a lot more crowded. The belly flop contest, worlds sexiest man and women's cannonball contest were hilarious. The second Aqua show was a lot better than the first. Read Less

Zumba Cruise for 120 people. If i don't have to go back to Nassau, it will be too soon. We took the excursion and it was a marketing tour for the local merchants and not much else. Coco Cay was a rip off. Anything you wanted to do, you had to pay for. I understand paying for the zipline or the balloon ride, but charging to use the pool and water, is utterly ridiculous. The food was well prepared and an excellent choice for the buffet. The evening dinner was excellent with fantastic servers. Eating there was the highlight of the cruise. The entertainment at the theater was well done and very entertaining. The music throughout the shop was very good. I don't how a ship that has children on board, will allow smoking in the casino. to get to some of the facilities, you had to go through the casino, it was disgusting. If you stood on the 5th level close to the stairway going to the casino, it had a terrible smoke smell. I have been a smoker in the past, but if was disgusting to have to smell that. Overall the cruise was good as long as you stayed on the ship. Royal Caribbean lost my business because of Coco Cay. Read Less

Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas relocated to Port Canaveral on May 6th and made its first seven day sailing on May 12th. My wife and I, along with several neighbors and friends, booked the cruise shortly after the relocation announcement. We all live less than one hour from Port Canaveral so the Harmony will be our home port RCCL ship. The Harmony will be sailing from terminal one, a relatively modern port designed for the Oasis class ships. So we had a new ship, a new port, a new terminal and the first seven day cruise. We booked a grand suite so we have the Harmony and a suite experience from its new home port. Nice! Embarkation: Efficient and fast. The process starts with a check of paperwork followed by a security check. Check-in begins before 11:00 am but boarding doesn’t begin until about 11:00 am. A lot of people check in early and wait in a large holding area. There is a separate, adjacent holding area with comfortable chairs and couches for suite, diamond plus, and pinnacle members. It is not real large. Check-in is done using iPads, so having checked in on line and holding a sea pass and passport are necessary. Photos may be taken with their iPads if necessary. Boarding is done orderly with the priority area boarding first followed by each RCCL cruisers’ status, so loyalty does have rewards. We have our own wheelchair so we were met by a “pusher” at the terminal entry who guided us through the process and on to the ship. We did call ahead to ask for assistance and it was provided willingly. Dozens of passengers were in the same situation, some with their own wheelchairs and some just needing one of the RCCL’s chairs to get up the ramp onboard. Ship: The Harmony is an Oasis class ship with more up-to-date features that one would expect with newer ships. The iPad check-in system is the first of the new features. The card key system that uses a touch process (touch the cabin door) rather than a slide or insert system for use around the ship. The casino slot machines, for instance, use the touch process so no more concerns about leaving your room key in a slot machine. There are digital and interactive displays in many places around the ship. There are new water slides and even a dry slide, a huge multi-story slide called the “Abyss”. Apparently, the RCCL app is useful on board the ship for getting a variety of information. We left our iPhone in the cabin and got along just fine. It is newer, nicer and more modern than its sister the Oasis and the Allure, as would be expected. Restaurants, Food and Service: All the restaurants we sampled had excellent food and service. Our primary breakfast and dinner restaurant was the Coastal Kitchen on deck 17 that is reserved for suite guests and pinnacle cruising status members. The Assistant Maitre D’, Ace, leads an excellent staff who are seasoned veterans. Ace described the process for becoming a staff member and the results have produced some of the best servers. They all have different personalities but work very well together. Ace rotates the waiters among tables so it is easy to meet most of them in a week. The food was very tasty and nicely presented. Chef Henry led the kitchen staff and was out sampling feedback from guests. I try fish at many meals. The branzino was the best. The lobster, cod and shrimp were also nice. We ate in the Windjammer for a few lunches. The food was very good and a nice variety was presented. Some people miss the pasta bar and desserts, complete with ice cream located toward the back of the ship (aft). We also had lunched in the Sabor and Izumi restaurants. Both are recommended. Casino: The Harmony of the Seas has a large, brightly lit and active casino on deck four. It contains a wide selection of modern slot machines and table games. There is seldom a time when there are no places or machines to play. We had no problems. The casino uses the “tap the card key” process for logging on to each machine when played. The computer awards points for play that can be redeemed for cash and used for awards of small discounts on future cruises, although the restrictions are pretty stiff. Onboard credit can be redeemed at the machines and cash can be charged to the cabin. No more standing in line and having the cashier handle the transactions. There are also machines for cashing in chits, much like on land casinos. Interestingly, the casino is open a lot more than in the past. It was closed only for the port of St. Thomas on this trip. We enjoyed playing every day that the casino was open. Our favorite time is in the mornings while the place is quiet. The downside of the casino is that smoking is allowed in one area. Smokers, many who do not play, just use it as a smoking lounge. A real negative and no one but the smokers’ benefit. Suite Experience: We have enjoyed the experiences and the benefits of ship suites for a while. They may be of interest to some readers. First, the cabins and the benefits do cost more, sometimes a lot more. It might be worth a try once, but be careful as it is easy to get hooked. Hint: Suite cabins sell out very early in the booking process so procrastination can cost you your favorite location. We book at least six months in advance and normally a year. We tried four months recently and the selection was limited. The experience starts at embarkation. The terminal has a special, comfortable lounge for waiting embarkation. Suites are the first to board so you can beat the race to the restaurants. The Coastal Kitchen and the adjacent suite lounge are open so it is an opportunity to relax then have a nice lunch at noon, when the restaurant opens. Snacks and beverages are also available in the lounge area. The cabin is the next benefit to experience. The grand suite is 371 square feet with a 105 square foot balcony. It has a bedroom, TV room, two TVs, large bath with combined tub and shower, an entryway with a bar, lots of storage space, a safe, coffee maker and large balcony. Treats are delivered a couple of times during the cruise. The concierges, Elaine and Checker, are located in the suite lounge area and are helpful in making reservations and arrangements as well as answering questions. The Coastal Kitchen is open for every meal. Breakfast and lunch require no reservations but dinner does. Sometimes there is a waiting list for dinner. The food and service, as mentioned above are superior. Assistant Maitre D’, Ace, and Chef Henry do an excellent job managing the operation. There is also an outdoor suite pool and lounge area. We did not partake in that benefit. Reserved seating is available for suite guests in the ice, aqua and main theaters. A special area is saved until about ten minutes before showtime. The seat locations are nice. Disembarkation is the final benefit. The concierges lead guests off the ship at three times, the first meeting at 7:15 am and leaving at 7:30 am. The suite guests are provided priority at each point in the disembarkation process. This is a very nice benefit. Because we have a wheelchair the concierge also made special arrangements for a “pusher” to get us into the terminal. Conclusion: The Harmony of the Seas and our suite experience on the ship’s first seven-day cruise out of Port Canaveral was all we expected it to be. The entire staff that we encountered were excellent. The venues were all in top shape, many have to be seen to be believed. We highly recommend the suite experience for at least a once in a lifetime experience. We are booked for our next Harmony experience from Port Canaveral. Read Less

Food, everyday same menu, steak so thin unlike before from my experience from other Royal caribbean, Grease and Fine line is awesome, I suggest come in 20-30 mins before to line up, to get good seat. SERVICE!! NOT SO FRIENDLY, AND GUESS WHAT, A SECURITY GUARD OF DECK 10 AND THE HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING ON DECK 10 CAME TO OUR ROOM, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE THE SIGN OF "DO NOT DISTURB' IN OUR ROOM IS POSTED IN OUR DOOR., I OPENED THE DOOR AND THE SECURITY GUARD INTRODUCED HIMSELF NAME JACK AND PUT ME ON CAMERA, AND I SAID YES, AND WHAT THIS IS ABOUT? HE SAID 'WE WANT TO KNOW IF YOU'RE STILL ALIVE?' What kind of questions is that of course we are alive coz we' re in and out of the ship, coz we were on port on that day, and spend 3-4 hours only but we also rented the towel and scanned our sea pass, so obviously we are alive, and HE ALSO WANTS TO CHECK OUR ROOM. So I let him. this was so intimidating TREATING US LIKE A CRIMINALS. this is my 5th cruise, and i wasn't treated this way, They should teach their crew how to ask properly, I understand that they have policy to follow, but at least ask nicely, like " sorry ma'm to disturb you we just notice your sign is still up, is everything ok? " They should teach them how to be polite. So we had a meeting with the Head security and head of the maintenance of the ship, and all they said was sorry. I'm actually glad that it was on camera and they heard how the security guard ask me. and they didn't offer anything to compensate us. The last day of the cruise I went to the guest services and talk to Maria B, and she offered us at least a bottle of wine, But i don't drink, and its end of the cruise and my husband won't drink it anymore. She was kind enough to offer me port credit. So Thank you Maria B. Good thing our next cruise is not with Harmony of the sea. Read Less

Having been a fan of royal and it’s sister ships - this was a huge disappointment. I chose this ship that was suppose to have a dreamworks program catered to little kids. After paying in full I was told the program was canceled and nothing would be replaced. I paid 500 dollars for an almost 2 year old to sit a one mini splash pool. The best part is kids wake up early and the pool doesn’t open to 10. The last day the filter was broke and we couldn’t even go in for hours. LocAted right next to a larger splash park that she couldn’t go in with a diaper or any other pool on the ship. I was told there would be multiple options of things to do with a young child - ok great if I want to put my baby in an indoor playroom on vacation NO THANKS. Do a Disney Cruise is all I can say. The food was about good as a cafeteria in a hospital and lines for places to pay were a mile long for also mediocre food. 150 central dinner upgrade was the only positive thing I can say about this cruise. Service awful, out of everything form drinks to hot dogs, they never had anything. I haven’t taken a royal cruise in many years and will never again. Celebrity has always lived up to its expectations but with a child I was told Royal was the ship- NO go If you dont want to be nickel and dimed for every penny you spend skip this cruise line. I am a person happy to spend money on a trip especially for my baby girl. I have cruised on most lines and vacationed from beaches to the best resorts. Thank goodness we are going to Disney world after this or id be so upset right now. Lesson learned I will spend my money elsewhere where by daughter can actually have things to do like the characters and parades that i paid for but we’re canceled. Embarkation was a breeze, our room cards were waiting for us in our room. Loved the Coastal Kitchen for Breakfast and lunch. We actually bought the dining UPGrade and had a dinner in 150 Central and Chops Grille. While the service was nice in both restaurants; the food quality was just ok. We ordered the Halibut in the 150 Central and it was definately overcooked; I know we could have sent it back but..... The next night in Chops; the appetizers were great. We both ordered filets; medium rare. Not the best quality filets we ever had; they lacked flavor. Thought at first they were overcooked but the center was medium rare. As much as we liked the smaller dining experience I don't think it was worth the upgrade price. The Coastal Kitchen service was great; the one dinner in the Main Dining Room was also great; just too big. We went to the Grease show; well done. I always think these shows go on just a bit too long. People were beginning to leave before the show ended. Loved the Grease music so we stayed for the entire show. We went to the Fine Line water show. WOW, WOW, WOW. Best show of this type that we have ever seen, Pay attention to the first performer to come on stage; we twirls and spins for at least 15-20 minutes and then he is also in the show. I was on the Royal app and looked in calender first my dinner for first night had just me and husband at 5 pm just 2 of us and no dinner for rest of cruise I called again asked what was going on , After they looked into it I was Told Janet called and changed it "Janet" who is Janet no one in our party by that name ,so now we had to have dinner between 5-530 pm every night because it was booked I called got nowhere there was nothing they could do ,Ok we left it , 2 days later I get email the show picked for second night was cancelled and we was put in for 3rd night so i called and asked what happen to the show we booked for 3rd night :oh we cancelled it" so I asked did you move it to second night ,oh no it s booked, So now all 8 of us got THE KEY which was useless as anything just a waste of money,and the WOW bracalet ,the didn't take the WOW any where unless you took off dining room would not take it so if you didn't take your card you was not getting a drink, We had reservations for the Comedy show on first night get to show 15 minutes before, all these people from dining room just going in ,here me with this so called KEY with proroity seating was a joke I got NO SEAT AT ALL no one was there checking to see if everyone going in had reservation, Next day went to Customer service desk what a waste of time , I asked her what did i spend money on if the key with VIP seating is a joke and the WOW is not taking any where ,all she could say to me was whats can do for you , Did you read the paper you have to go to show 30 minutes before I sad no it don't say that, Then every time my husband ordered a drink they would put on my name I didn't have the drink package had to stand in line again I think in 3 days i spent more time at the service desk,, The boat itself was huge and very crowded on Nassua day we was there all day and night we left boat for about 3 hours only so much you can do it port that there wasn't much to do there at all went back to boat for lunch tried to use Johnny rockets oh no its closed all shops closed only place to eat was windjammer ,photo shop closed you think it would be open for so people cant get stuff done with out all the crowds no so you just hang in your room or on deck 5 and sit and watch people go by I felt like i was at the mall waiting for it to open,, They put your little newspaper thingy in your room telling you things happening on boat one was 20.00 off for photo package we go and ask was told Oh there is no promotions today I took the paper out showed him and in black and white it there but he said NO that was first night I said look at day its day 2 he would not take it guess where I was next ?? back in service desk, I had called Royal several times and wrote email before we even got on board email where answered by ROBO MAIL some one will get back to you in 48-72 hours ,NEVER HAPPENED never got phone call from Supervisor like i was told even once on board nothing was resolved ,, was never offered a credit a dinner a drink NOTHING for them making this the worse cruise We have a cruise already booked on the Symphony in november we was all debating to cancel it or not ,, we know we are staying away for making reservations for dinner and NOT GOING NEAR THE KEY NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT IT waste of money Our special Key times for zip ling was for monday between 2-3 pm . we were not on the boat monday i asked them this and they had no answer Read Less

Large number of passengers....I believe they said 6,000+ so elevators always had long waits. My suggestion if you are able is to take the stairs that way you get where you want to go faster and it works in your daily exercise program! Lots of walking from one end of ship to the other. Food was better than I anticipated, based on past RCCL cruises. Written communication was strange....I had reservations for comedy show the first night but it was not listed on the programs. I had to find the venue to be sure it was still scheduled. Evidently the comedians were also confused as it was mentioned during the show that they didn't know they were performing at that time. The comedians were not good. I booked the Chef's Table upon boarding and was given a slip of paper with no time nor date. There was no information sent to the cabin and I was unable to get anyone to answer the phone to see if we were confirmed for that night. The food and presentation were both outstanding but the venue was more like being in a tent. But it was really good. Read Less

My husband and I cruised on the Harmony of the Seas for our Anniversary. We were interested to cruise on a big boat without the price tag of a seven day cruise. Harmony gave two, three day cruises in early May before it started regular seven day cruises from Port Canaveral. We were excited to take advantage of the opportunity. Harmony is a very, very beautiful boat. She is new, updated, sleek and technologically advanced. The decks are so huge. I can see where it would be easy to become lost. But, after a few days, its easy to catch on. The boat is divided by colors: blue, green, yellow, and orange. But, if the halls and stairs were labeled, I missed it. We had a great cruise and would sail on Harmony again. But, cruisers must be prepared for a TON of people. There are people and lines everywhere for the first day. Then, it starts to even out. Thus, embarkation was very, very crowded. But, we made it through security and onto the boat in just about 25 minutes. We chose to park off site at the Raddison in Port Canaveral and it was efficient and easy. Food: We totally avoided the Windjammer on the first day and made a beeline to the Solarium buffet, which was delicious and had plenty of options (the Solarium didn’t open until Noon on embarkation day). The Solarium never seemed crowded and there were always plenty of shade and chairs. We also had a bite at Park Café and Sorrentos; both were very good. Park Café offered an awesome bagel bar in the mornings and it was actually really, really good. We ate one hot dog at the hot dog stand on the Boardwalk, and tried to get several more hot dogs… but the hours were squirrely and even when the hot dog stand appeared open, staff would not serve… very strange and kind of frustrating. We ate dinners in the Main Dining Room, which provided great service and great food. One night, we were out of the Main Dining Room, within about 65 minutes, which was awesome! We also requested a table for two during breakfast in the Main Dining Room. After a little humming and hawing, we were accommodated, which was really nice! I was SO disappointed the Main Dining Room was not open for lunch when we were in port at Nassau. I was really looking forward to avoiding Windjammer and having a relaxing lunch… but no luck. On the day we were in port, there were only two (free) food options available…. Windjammer and Park Café. Since we had yet to be at Windjammer, we decided to bite the bullet and try it. It was crowded, but the food was very good. They even had a ice cream bar in the back, with staff scooping different flavors. That was very unexpected and very nice! So, I should not slam the Windjammer too much. But, the best dining experience we had was at Jamie Olivers. I highly recommend up charging to Jamie’s. We went for lunch and it was the highlight of our cruise. The service from Daniel was suburb and the food was absolutely amazing! We let it slip it was our Anniversary, and they treated us so very well. Casino: We had fun playing in the casino. The craps minimum was $10 and we found low-limits for Blackjack in the cruise compass for $6. The dealers were fun and the crowd was great too. Shows: When checking in online, I noticed there were options to reserve seats for the shows. So, I was confused when there were TONS of people in long lines to get show reservations. Then, when we went to the shows, there was no one “checking” to make sure we had reservations. I inquired about this, as I was confused. If you arrive at the shows 10 minutes prior to start time, the show becomes general seating and anyone is welcome. We never had a problem getting a seat and we arrived just moments before the show started. I didn’t care for the water show, but my husband loved it. My husband walked out of Grease, and said it was boring with no sets and inconsistent dancing. But, we both agreed Columbus was THE BEST SHOW we’ve ever seen on a cruise boat. Columbus was totally entertaining, funny, and we didn’t want it to end. The Ice Show was good too. There were men dressed as women in the opening scene, which was very painful to watch (it seemed to be purposeful and part of the show). But, after that, the ice show got a lot better. Water Slides/Abyss Slide: The Ultimate Abyss is one awesome slide! You start on Deck 15, aft and slide down to the Boardwalk. The slide is not scary. It has fun lights, wind, and sounds during the slide. The best part is even before sliding… the view at the top of the slide are amazing. You are allowed to have a cell phone (they show you how to tuck it away) and you can tuck away sun glasses too. If you have bare shoulders, bring a sweater or shirt to wear, as they won’t allow uncovered shoulders. Don’t bring your coke glass, as you’ll have to leave it and then retrieve it later. This looked like a giant pain for guests. On the flip side, the water slides on Deck 15, forward were very, very disappointing. The Perfect Storm was a disaster from the beginning. The lifeguard at the bottom of the slide made us remove everything…. Jewelry, sunglasses, waterSOCKs, and even my WATERPROOF watch. This was a complete turn off, as we had to take valuables back to the room and leave flip flops and watersocks by our chairs. Then, we had to trudge through the boat, barefoot, which was gross to me. The lines were long and they are overly cautious with when guests can slide. Once on the slide, it was so slow, dark, boring, and especially slow, I was glad when it finally ended. Honestly, my hair didn’t even get wet. Did I mention how SLOW the ride was? So, this made us even more frustrated… why have us remove all our jewelry, go barefoot, with THAT SLOW of a ride?? It was a complete turn off. Save your time and go on the Ultimate Abyss or do anything that’s fun. It would have been helpful to know there are more “rules,” besides the ones posted on the signs. I hope by reading this review I’ve saved you some time. Diamond Lounge: The Diamond Lounge was wonderful with great service. The food was good and the drinks were plentiful. Since there were so many Diamonds on the cruise, they opened up a second option for lounging, which I thought was a really nice touch. Thank you! Read Less

This was our first experience on the cruise. We really enjoyed the food and the entertainment. They had a great daycare and kids areas. Even though it was raining for 3 days, with the amount of activities available on the ship we didn’t even notice the bad weather. we were extremely impressed with the service. Our waiter Zaldy was incredible - he would make figures out of napkins for our kids. That was definitely a highlight of their trip - they were looking forward dinner time every day. His assistant Giomire would tell us plenty of entertaining stories. They definitely made our stay extra special. Our cabin was without windows but it felt big enough for a comfortable stay. The facilities were really clean. What we really enjoyed was spending our evenings listening to the live music. Karaoke nights were also fun. Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend. Read Less

We loved this ship! We experienced lots of new things. We rode the carousel even though we are older, we rode the rising tide bar twice, watched the bionic bartenders, saw the show Grease, Columbus the musical, the ice show, the aqua show and all were very entertaining. Our cabin steward Xavier Fernandes was exceptional, he kept our cabin 12698 spotless, made a big deal out of our anniversary, and had a please personality. The food was delectable, our main dining staff, Tianyu, Rhoy, and Blanca were the best! Service throughout the entire ship exceeded our expectations. We did not get off of the ship for the ports because we had such a great experience. The last night parade was fun. We ate at Jamie's Italian and the risotto was just like what we had in Italy. Chops Grille was beyond exquisite! From the bread to the final course, the food was amazing! The service is on the slow side, but we didn't care. Since we enjoyed it so much we booked Allure of the Seas for December 1st. I would highly recommend this ship to all. The Solarium is actually 3 levels which I never saw before, however, they do not have a pool in there. Too many kids on board though. I don't know if they have to provide proof that their kids has shots for measels or not, but they should have to as this is a major health concern. Lots of rude people not sanitizing their hands. This needs to be reinforced more. We used the fitness center 4 times during the week, so we didn't gain any weight, and there were plenty of machines. I never had to wait for a treadmill, or recumbent bike, plenty of towels, a scale, and restrooms. Read Less

The food overall was very good and the presentation was improved as well. Service in the dining room and our room steward service was wonderful. Every person we encountered was friendly. We were beyond pleasantly surprised. I always recommended Royal, but I stopped and also we weren't looking forward to going again. The casino was boring and wasn't really playing very well - so I quit going there. Perhaps they are using the money saved in there for food. The comedy club was disappointing. Adult is ok, but disgusting isn't necessary. It seems with such a diverse group on board a ship, the comedians could be funny without being crude. I wish they would clean this up a bit. We are heading back to the Harmony for Thanksgiving with our family - pretty sure I won't be booking the comedy club. Not much enrichment but I'm not sure what I would suggest. Otherwise everything was fantastic and we are looking forward to Coco Cay. Read Less

We were traveling with our two daughters, sons in law, and 4 grandkids ages 6 to 10. We last cruised together two years ago on the Allure and wanted another newer Oasis class ship. We had an ocean view balcony and the other two families were across the hall in boardwalk balconies. They liked the layout on the Harmony cabins much better, particularly the two separate closets and the trundle bed as opposed to bunks. Edwin our cabin steward was great, best we have had. We ate breakfast in deck three American icon restaurant. We enjoy the option of either ordering off the menu, using the buffet or both. We found the breakfast buffet far superior to our last few cruises with NCL, MSC and Princess. Quality was much better as well as selection. Service was outstanding! For lunch we did either Windjammer or when open American icon. Again Windjammer was far better for lunch and dinner than the previously mentioned lines. Had trouble initially getting grilled cheese sandwiches for the grandkids, but we spoke to manager and we were able to get the sandwiches. My time dining was at Silk. Again, Royal was superior to other lines. Service was top notch as well, especially Jansen and Marilyn. The shows were very entertaining. The fine line aqua show was amazing! I didn’t think the Allure could be topped, but it was. We went twice it was so good. The grandkids enjoyed the ice show as well. They sId they enjoyed grease too, but I thought it was too long. The swimming pools were a big hit as well as water slides and abyss. They also did zip line, rock wall, basketball, soccer, ping pong and carousel. Daughters and sons in-law had drink package and enjoyed it very much. Bar staff was super. Grandkids had soda package that comes with boardwalk balconies. They loved the all you can eat ice cream There were a few negatives along the way. The beds are hard as rocks, and all adults woke up sore on a regular basis. The comedy show was a real let down. Both comedians were below average and we are accustomed to much more talented and funny comics on all other cruises we have taken including Allure two years ago Our main gripe was the kids club. The staff in general and one person in particular were terrible. Dinner stretched out for well over an hour and kids were done eating in 15 to 20 minutes and forced to sit there. A lot of negative interactions between staff and children it was not a welcoming and friendly place. We felt so let down, we did not book our next trip onboard as we did last time. Despite all the positives, we will explore other options. Other parents were interacted with were similarly disappointed. We did our on thing at the ports of call. I wrote a lot, so I headlined everything so you jump to the part that is relevant to you. LARGE GROUP REVIEW We choose this cruise line 1.5 years ahead of time to celebrate my father retirement. We scheduled 1 big family excursion which was to swim with the Dolphins since my two younger nephews were limited with what they could do. In addition, we chose the Royal Caribbean because they had DreamWorks associated with it. With less than 6 months to go, they canceled both. So we all ended up doing something different in Saint Maarten. My mother took the younger kids for an excursion and my husband, brother, and sister in law did something different. Day of port they canceled the one with my mom and the kids again!!! This time because there was a protest going on near the French side of the island. They did not cancel ours, we talked to our tour guide who said they canceled over 100 peoples tours for no reason. She said the tour companies even told Royal Caribbean that the demonstrations were done a week ago. Overall, not a lot of tours for 5-12-year-olds. Dinner times sucked. It was 5:30 which tended to be literally right when you got back from the port or 8 which is way too late for people with children There needs to be a 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm time slot like Carnival or Norwegian has. KIDLESS ADULTS This cruises entertainment sucked. The shows we extremely below par. The fine line was an aqua show where everyone was out of synch. Reminded me of the Shark during the Superbowl. It was as if a bunch of HS hip hop kids wanted to do Cirque de Solie but had only a week of practice. It was like they were using actors from other shows as background dancers. For example, the divers from the water show were performing in the musicals. Some of these performers never took dancing classes and it showed. There was limited comedy clubs with no variety of performers. The only good show was the headliner (juggler) and the ice skaters. Also, they had reservations for shows which kind of worked like fast passes. This was stupid so I ended up signing us up for all of them and not showing up to some of them. Because who wants to plan everything out on a cruise. The adult pools were 16 and up but was never enforced. Do not expect this to be the place for 20- 30-year-olds with no kids. Also for you, drinkers, DO NOT BUY THE BEVERAGE PACKAGE!! To make it worth it, you have to drink close to the max amount of drinkers per day (13) including excursion days. It appears to be worth it because they charge 18 for a drink. Here is my tip. Go on the website and send your room alcohol through Royal Caribbean. It comes with mixers such as sprite and coke. My mom had the refreshment package ( nonalcoholic mocktails since she likes pop and she would get us virgin pina coladas, which we made nonvirgin, with the rum we ordered to the room) We saved $500 and never ran out of booze. You also get to bring one bottle of wine per adult. We ended up taking 3 bottles of wine home (they were gifted to my brother's room complimentary and he doesn't drink). You think you are a drinker and its worth it, I am telling you my husband is a drinker (he makes his own beer since he drinks that much). In other words, I just can not see the drink package being worth it for anyone. Even if you don't get the refreshment package you can make screwdrivers with the free orange juice in the morning. ADULTS WITH SMALL CHILDREN My brother and his wife have a 3, 7, and 10 years old. This boat is for you if you have kids. It was very teenage-centric at night and kid-centric during the day. It had a carousel which I took the 3-year-old on many many many times. The 7 year old loved the kid play zone and went there almost every day. However, the play zone center did lose 3-year-olds clothes somehow. The credited my brother account for this. My brother said he would have rathered gone on the Disney cruise and thought the boat was not kid-centric however, I strongly disagree. His standards might be too high for cruises and kid stuff. Maybe he thought this because the plays were very adult orientated and the kid ones were more for the 3-year-old rather than the 7 and 10-year-olds. The sports activities were meant for teenagers so maybe the age 5-13 is not well represented. The tours for this age bracket was also very limited. ELDERLY REVIEW My father is very limited in his ability to move. There were very few activities he could do. Most cruise ships do tons of trivia for the older crowd. There was little to no trivia options compared to other ships. There were some, but most ships I have been on have them every other hour not just once every other day Also, my dad needed a scooter which they required to put in his room. However, how they designed the room made it extremely difficult to get it in. The bed was close to the door and there was very little space between the bed and the wall. As a result, they had to put it in the space between the bed and the bathroom which blocked the entire entrance and made it difficult to get up and go to the bathroom at night (especially for someone who needs a cane to walk). EXCURSION REVIEW: 1) Excursion: St. Maarten (RHINO RIDER) After all the cancellation we did a Rhino Rider (Small JetSki Like Boats). We were to ride to the French part of the island and go to a beach called Happy Beach which is named that because its a nudist beach. My husband and I did this one buy our self. The jetski ride was cool, you get to see all the capsized boats from the hurricane and even saw a boat in the middle of the road near the coast. We had to follow the instructor to avoid all the sunken boats until we got to the other side. This was pretty cool, as some of the boats looked like they would be perfect for a horror film. We rode to the beach area where we were supposed to swim to the shore and have some time on the beach. I wanted to half participate (topless) in the Happy Beach but not like near people I had to ride back with. So we walked about 5 minutes from the boats down the shore. My husband stood on some rocks and say every one getting on the boats. We had only been there for 15 minutes top. We had to run back and get on the boats and go back. This was way too short!!! 15 minutes on the beach is not enough time even if you are just snorkeling. I have done other excursion where you get an hour or two on the beach. That is what I get for trying to replicate the Carnival experience I had the last cruise. The worst part was, there was no reason the excursion to be that short. We had plenty of time before the ship left (>3 hours). The reason they have it so short, was because the next tour was waiting to use our jetskis. Wow.... all about the money. When we got back to the boat company they had taken some photos that I wanted to check out and see if we wanted to buy. The bus driver was yelling at everyone to get on the bus before the photos even came out. AGAIN there was no reason for this as the ship did not leave for another 3 hours and it was a 20-minute bus ride back. I am not kidding on the rush I am 28 y.o and very healthy it was not like I was dicking around. The photos had not even been developed yet digitally. Overally, extremely rushed. 2) Hati (Luxurious Sail Yacht) We were supposed to take a Yacht ride to a private beach for a swim but it was too windy so they just cruised around. The rum punch was unlimited so that was cool. It was pretty windy so I get why they diverted. PORTS REVIEWS 1) ST Maarteen Typical Cruise Port Feel. Tons of Jewelry stores and souvenir shops. We did not mind this as it was the first port. We bought some local Rum that was confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise ( normal for cruises). 2) Puerto Rico Puerto Rico is its best port because it's the only non-cruise port location and has tons of history such as the building architect, town church, and forts. However, you only get to be at this port from 7 am 1:00 pm to see the town. I assume they do this because they don't own the city and money spent there, is not money in their pocket. Do not do the excursions, they are a waste of money. I knew this ahead of time because I have visited San Juan once before. The walking tours are a rip-off. My brother bought a walking tour since he has small kids (7&10) at first, but we convinced him to cancel it and we walked the city with him. In the end, he said something along the lines "They were charging $60/person for something you could do in 3 hours with two kids just by going to the information stand". Remember PR speaks English, your phone works 100% ( just like it would if you were in another state) and San Juan can be walked in less than 3 hours even with kids. You can google anything you need, just like you would if you were in a foreign city like NY, Chicago or San Fran. My biggest issue is that the time spent there is way short and they know it. I just filled out the survey for the Royal Caribbean and they asked about the amount spent at each port except the one in San Juan. I wonder why they don't care about the one, $$$$$. 3) Hati This was the port we were most excited for since it was the only location we had not been to. They advertise this as Hati, but it really is just a peninsula of Hatti that they have rocked off from the rest of the land and commercialized. You were not allowed to leave their resort area. You are at a private resort where you can use your room card to buy everything because they own everything. They should not be allowed to call this Hati. The couple's cabanas were $100 for a small little umbrella-like structure and $500 for the bed like structure. I guess my bother did not know that you had to pay to use it, and accidentally used one during the day. So you could always try that. Do not rent the rafts they are of horrible quality for the price. I saw people try to use them and give up after an hour or so. The food was good though. SPA & FITNESS The three girls ( mom, sister in law and I) did the spa message with the seaweed treatment. Overpriced which is typical in cruises. We all 3 bought the products they pushed. However, I returned it because it was so overpriced and probably not worth it. My sister in law and mother followed shortly after. In other word do not feel like once you purchased something you are stuck with it. In addition, on the first day, we received a free consultation for feet arches. My sister and law and I did it where they fitted us. They then said the inserts were $200, so I passed. My dad ended up doing it on day 3, and he paid 99 for the consultation and 99 for the inserts. Yeah, so that "free consultation" was not free but built into the cost of the shoes that my dad got for $99 CABIN, SHIP & DINNING These are the only things I liked about the cruise. The cabin was huge compared to other cruise lines even for the budget option. Food was very good in the dining and the service was of course very good. Very friendly staff. The pizza was served till 3 in the morning which was nice. The Ship was very well designed, I liked Central Park as it had a big garden that was pretty. Read Less
