Travel outside school holidays on a family ship so expected to see some young children but the ship was packed with children of all ages. It only cost £50 to keep them off school. Screaming and running around for the most part uncontrolled by parents and guardians. Children sitting and running all over the dance floors until midnight. Young children sitting on the bar counters and none of the staff saying a thing. Health and safety risk also not hygenic! No proper lifeboat drill some passengers told not to bother taking their life jackets to the drill! Didn't meet our cabin stewart for 3 days only after we complained to reception. Berth at Rotterdam not where we expected. At the makeshift tent which was cruise terminal there were no facilities apart from a shuttle bus which took at least 20 mins to get to Rotterdam and there was nobody from P&O at the other end to tell us where the main places were. We were given a map but it showed that the ship was docked at a different place so when the shuttle dumped you you did not know were you were!! Getting back to the ship was a nightmare as no one from P&O was around to control the Q's and the shuttles were few and far between. Very dissappointed and were glad to get off. Standards have slipped and no one seemed to be in charge of anything. Read Less

We cruised with P and O for many years up to 2014 when we decided that as their standards had dropped so much we would try other cruise lines. We found these other cruise lines were still up to the standards that P and O had before 2012. P and O had been in contact with us over the years trying to convince us to try them again assuring us that the standards were once again on a par with other cruise lines. We decide to use them during the May half term and go on Britannia on the 25th with the Grandchildren. We wish we hadn’t. The ship was late in due to some mechanical problem, (which we now know they had before they left on the previous cruise, so using it with this problem made it worse) and we were delayed many hours, but the worst of it was that having driven over 4 hours down to the port with children in the car we were them held on the port by CPS in a car park for at Mayflower terminal for over 3 hours without any facilities, refreshments or information. People who were not booked with CPS were allowed on the ship but anyone booked with CPS were kept away from the ship until almost 9pm. The organisation was terrible. Having got on the ship it was chaotic and we were unable to get any food until after 10pm, but had to leave it for the muster which was at 10.30. Because of all of the chaos on the ship continuing during the muster our granddaughter was lost in the crowds and no one would take it seriously saying that they would look into it after the muster. We refused to wait and one of us went to the reception to report her as missing, whilst one of us continued to look for her. The Captain went on and on during the muster, far longer than necessary, whilst the reception said they could do nothing. We eventually found her sat outside the room, 30 minutes after the muster, having found it by asking people where the room number on her ships map was. So generally a very poor start to the cruise, still we decided to put this behind us and enjoy the time together. Unfortunately, despite being told that because we had children, we would have a table for 4, but they put us on a table for 7. We tried to change it but were told it was unlikely that we would be able to move. In the end we had to transfer to freedom dining which we don’t like when we have children with us, it is never a problem on other cruise lines they always accommodate us. To turn to the cruise itself, the ship was a bit chaotic throughout the week, culminating in passengers not being able to get off the ship by tender at the last port for over 2 hours. There were several late night or in the middle of the night announcements, none of which made any sense. The Costa café was very poor, the service was virtually non- existence and when you went to the counter to seek a coffee you were treated to insolence. Many people left the café without ordering and we only went twice due to the issues. The food was okay but a bit samey and mediocre at times in the restaurants and the waiters were a bit hit and miss. The buffet was better than the normal with good access to tables. Since the last P and O cruise we were on the singers were better but the Headliners were not as good and the shows were poorer with less sets etc. There was also less shows generally. Daytime activities were also poorer and unlike other cruise lines, there is a lot less to do for older children during the day, although the kids club for 9 years olds was excellent and could not be bettered. We have been on most P and O ships and Britannia is the worst, is far too big to be so disorganised and whilst P and O are still pushing for bigger and bigger ships, they need to get their organisation Read Less

I chose this cruise to get a little bit of sun, rather than sit at home watching the rain. This being my third time on Azura, I thought I knew what to expect. Embarkation went smoothly, and I was in my cabin swiftly. I noticed that the plug in the basin was closed, and I wondered why. It didn't take me long to find the answer. I was on deck fourteen, but when I went to decks six and seven, THE SMELL OF RAW SEWAGE WAS OVERPOWERING !!!. Lots of people were complaining throughout the whole cruise. I spoke to reception desk about this, only to be told that they were aware of this problem, and they were working on it. Previous reviews that I have read have indicated that the problem has been on board the ship for some time. The Captain was never to be seen around the ship, except for photo shoots, nor was the chief Engineer,as I would have approached one of them to ask about the problem, which continued for the entire duration of the cruise.( I later found that the basin was kept plugged to prevent the smell entering my cabin). I dined in the restaurant on only three occasions,as the food was only lukewarm, and on one dinner the ribeye steak was so tough that three members at my table had to send it back. After that I dined at the buffet, where the food was Lukewarm too. The entertainment was mediocre, same old gags from old comedians. On one occasion the show was cancelled because of rough seas. To conclude, six sea days are too much, when the entertainment is poor. However if you like dancing,or quizzes,or overpriced bingo,or old movies then this ones for you. I won't be back on Azura! I have a Cruise booked on Brittania for next year, but I won't be going, unless P&o redress me for the disappointment that I endured on this cruise. Read Less

My family chose this Cruise specifically because P&O advised it was going to Antigua my mothers original birth place and to see the rest of my family, and celebrate my Sisters Wedding Anniversary as she got married on the Azura and hen night on Jolly Beach Antigua. So a special and important Trip as it was also my Anniversay and my Brother in laws Birthday. My Sister has also been diagnosed with a serious illness so a reaaly important cruise for her and the family and close friends, so the party of nine booked this cruise paid alot of money and counted down the days to the cruise The cruise started off well the ship looked impressive on first glance, but on closer inspection for a so called new ship it needed a make over and good tidy. Balcony suite we had was small and pokey, bits of rust in the bathroom and a strange smell of cats wee. Lido deck entrance was damp and had blowers on trying to dry it out for most of the trip. So 3 days before the end of the cruise and the lovely island Antigua we should have docked in, we were told due to a technical issue we could not dock we were 4 miles away so we were going back out to sea and arrive in a day at Martinique instead. Imagine the outrage by not only my family but most of the people on board, we were fobbed off, told it was too chopey to tender us out when it was not. Then told we were the only ones who had complained. They wish P&O Managerial staff were all contradicting them selves with different reason for not docking in Antigua when customers challanged them, the queue to the customer service desk was unreal, all we know was it was a technical issue. When we met with the P&O Customer Service Manager to explain the importance of us going to Antigua, and my sisters diagnosis, we were told to look at the terms and conditions my sister left the room crying, the rest of the party were offered a drinks voucher for a house red or white wine to use in 2 days,we gave them back told P&O they need it more than us. He also said there will be no chance of any financial recompense what so ever, very good customer service P&O! Allegedly this is not the first time that they have missed out Antigua, according to people on the ship who sailed in January the same thing happened. Why you have the same technical issue twice in two months, and how strange at exactly the same island each time. While on the cruise P&O did a sponsored walk for teenage Cancer it was £10 to enter and £10 for a T shirt, I donated £20 did the walk with my sisters and brother in law and we all got the Tshirt. They raised over £1200 in total no mention of P&O topping it up, just thought it was pretty ironic that they were raising money for teenage cancer, but a real life Cancer Patient in front of them with a genuine reason to see family in Antigua they could not care less about. shame on you P&O Shame on you. P&O have made it quite clear that the customer does not matter, they are quite arrogant about it, they are a big company and what we complain about or do is of no concern to them. The cabin staff and servers and bar staff do an excellent job, and work so hard to ensure your stay is a good one, without them P&O would be no where. The Entertainment and Resturants were good along with the servic, our cabin steward was lovely and looked after us well The Ports we went to were great apart from not going to Antigua and ending up ing Martinique which was not so good. we went on one ship excursion only because you could only book it through the ship, otherwise we would not pay their riduculous prices. We had beenon the Rhum Runner excursion before and it was great a fantastic day and beautiful beach in Grenada. Would i use P&O No Would i recommend P&O No Is P&O value for money No The Britannia in my opinion was over sold and under delivered for a so called new ship to the fleet. So if you are thinking of a Cruise be very careful who you use. Read Less

Until this cruise I have only ever sailed with royal Caribbean, on the advise of a friend who is a travel agent I booked this cruise for 6 of us as a special birthday present for my wife. As part of the cruise I also paid for the ultimate package as a surprise for her. The group consisted of her parents (this was their 3rd cruise), my sister in law and her boyfriend (their first cruise) and my wife and I (this was our 5th cruise). We booked this almost two years ago and booked two balcony rooms and on inside cabin Room (for the sister in law) all on the same floor to help us stay together throughout the cruise. On the morning that we travelled to the airport we put our luggage labels on our cases that was supplied. Once we embarked we went to our rooms to drop off our hand luggage to find out that all three rooms that we had booked had been change, two was on the same floor as we had booked but my sister in laws room was 5 floors down (throughout the cruise this did not help us to arrange meeting up). We went to the reception desk and the response we got was that we had all proberbly been upgraded (I did manage to see my original room but it was exactly the same), the person on the desk didn't appear to be interested in our enquiry. When we got into our room there was a bunch of flowers waiting but nothing else from the package, at this point I didn't wonder about the other items as I thought they would arrive later. We had a look around our cabin and then went onto our balcony, as we went out our new neighbours for our cruise asked my wife's name as they had had a load of items placed in their room (On confirmation they proceeded to list everything and ruined my wife's surprise). They then told us that they had drank the bottle of champagne and eaten the chocolates before seeing an envolope with my wife's name on it. We went down to the reception desk again and got the same person and we told him what had happened and again he didn't seem interested but told us he would get it sorted. About two hours later we went back to the room and most of the items were there. After two days we still had not had anybody contact us to offer an apology and to deliver the missing items. We went back down again to find out that the first person had not put anything down about the issue, we were then told that we would get a call within 24 hours. Again we waited two days before someone called us so we had to go back. After our third visit the reception manager called us and we had to tell him what was wrong and that we were still missing items, he said that he would call back within 24 hours with an explanation. After 3 further days we had all the items and the managed finally called us back but said that it was an over site and he apologised and offered us some on board credit to compensate. Throughout the cruise we heard many people complain about several different issues relating to rooms not being made up,surley staff (We had also experienced this as well as others) etc. We also had a few other problems throughout the rest of the cruise. This will be the one and only I will go on a cruise with P & O as I don't think that some of the staff and management care about the customers once they have our money. I have received much better service on Royal Caribbean and will continue to cruise with them and others. Read Less

I have been with P&O many times. I have always been full of praise and delight, about all off our Cruises’s However, I am now questioning if I will EVER use P&O again. P&O is now owned by Carnival, it shows that all they are interested in is money. The Britannia is a “Cash - Cow”. No interest in the care of passengers needs. I was on P&O’s Britannia for 16days to the Western Caribbean on the 26/10/18. Starting off from Southampton flying back from Barbados to Gatwick. I have never seen such disgusting behaviour from both passengers and overpowering bullying staff. The food was disgusting, I was with freedom dining in the Meridian. The staff were non existent, just like the food, we had to wait forever to be served. ( not the fault of the staff in the restaurant, perhaps bullying officer crew members) It was no different than the buffet dining, except in the buffet you had more choice of HOT food. We tried a few of the paid Restaurants £30 extra per person was it worth it... NO The only one that was good was the “beach hut” £7.50. In Epicurean Resturant a long hair was found inside a roll. A lot of people ( me and my friends included) were complaining about the type of clientele the passengers were I could only say Feral, loud, brash, drunk and disgusting. 10 people detained and escorted off the ship. P&O is now owned by Carnival, it shows that all they are interested in is money. Not the service or care of passengers needs. Too long at sea. If we had wanted to go on a Butlin’s holiday we would have booked with them. The design of the ship is awful! The entertainment was extremely poor throughout the two weeks. The reception is a very small enclosed space and to have pungently strong lilies is CRASS to someone who has allergic reactions, having to use an epi - pen. I could go on, however I will not. I thank you P&O Britannia for RUINING my holiday and making my holiday a MISERY for two weeks. Read Less

I was disappointed I put my expatations so high when I left home as it was British. Ship Brittinia was let down 3 year old ship felt more like 20 year old ship rusting most parts. I been on other 5 cruise ship smunched older they were far supier and no rust. The ship felt more like 5 star hotel. No atomephere anyway on board. The toilets so far away from bars and resturants and in general one main door leading to gents and ladies totlets when you did find one always blocked. The food in freedom dinning and Horizon basic standards cheap quality. Unless you went and pay lot of money to eat in other resturants. The sindue resturant £20 cover charge and lunchtime tapers £4.75 not value for money as is already paid for food on board all inclusive that was that was the on board pay extra for everything. The sindue resturant was disappointing the different than normal Indian it wasn't the michelin chaff standard the service was good. The Spar was a total RIP off heavy sale. The Elemiss Detox programme they do free simnar no pressure sale to book appointment for a test for £72 person or same price if there is only one. They say depending on the result of your test it's one of £80 DEXTOX programme no obligation to buy. When you go Christrieen said to me my sister in law have simlair results it's never happened before if we don't do any thing know we could head for stroke heart attack concert etc he says it doesn't mean it will happen but the tests are indacteing that. He wouldnt give us the name of products or diet and exercise programme unless we buy it for £490 each 6 months. He can't give us the test paper he needs to send result to doctor who will look at and he will proscribe the one for us. The diet exercise programme is same programme you put people on heavy weight training programme so much diffrent programme for each person. I can't believe I felt for his sale plater It's a total rip. But otherwise the cruise wasnt bad. Read Less

First went on P&O canberra in the 80s' but this new one is not as good as the top class ones we have been on. RCI, Princess, and Holland America are the premier league ones. This new ship is very drab. The passengers who all deserve a holiday age in 80+ if you do not have a wheelchair, scooter, walking wheel frame or walking stick you are in the minority. This is meant to be a family friendly ship? No so the children like us like ice cream, £1.95 a scoop or £2.15 for a Magnum on a stick. All other good cruise lines have these free. The shuttle bus in ports are £4.00 each way other cruise lines are free.Gratuities are £7.00 a day pp.14 night cruise is £98 With 3500 passengers = £343.000,and tips not going to the crew who have told us they get paid in US dollars. The cabin and bar staff and restaurant crew are excellent..The Headline theatre holds 930 seats for 2 shows a night.= 1860, then with 3500 passengers this leaves 1640 people who cannot see the main show.Dining is moderate to poor..Health & Safety, washing hands with anti bacterial is most important, the Horizion buffet has sinks to wash on entry, but the main dining rooms dis not have until we reported it,the the sprays were put in place at the entry to the dining areas..If you go ashore you have the sprays on you return to the ship, but if have all aboard by 4-30pm the sprays are taken away at 4-15pm so the last people on board cannot clean their hands. The worst 2 weeks of our life, this was supposed to be our honeymoon! Where to start... Firstly we arrived in our balcony cabin to find remaining confetti from someone who must have had the room before us i imagine, no tea bags, coffee or milk available we had to wait 30 mins until someone bought us some. The first night- major design fault in balcony rooms, balcony doors did nothing but creek! The next day after no sleep we askes to speak with a manager in reception where the inconsiderable woman told us we would have to come back as he was unavailable until 5pm, no apology no care whatsoever. After numerous complaints we made they finally decided to move us into a different cabin for the night- relief? I think NOT the useless people moved us to another room which were right next to the flippin boats generators! Horrible grinding and vibrating noises! So once again (its now 11.45pm) we called reception and 20 min later they bring us a new key to another room! At this point i believed i was going insane the new room they have us for the third time made the same horrendous noises as our first room! At this point enough was enough we asked the staff member to call reception and explain to them that this was not acceptable, when the staff member came off the phone he told us we had to go to reception in our pjs as they would not come to us at this point i think any sane person was contemplating jumping off the ship due to no sleep for over24 hour! Once we got to reception i asked the manager to make his way to once again ANOTHER cabin where we them offically gave up as it was a situation we were never going to win! Dining- no organisation whatsoever!! We were not "allowed" to reserve a 2 person table it was a first come first serve which is ridiculous considering how many passangers there was even after explaining to the dining manager it was out honeymoon and we didnt think waiting 45 minutes every night for a table was good enough after paying over three thousand pound he seemed absolutely useless did not show any interest in what we had to say, no resolution once again. The food in the "Horizon" dining room was TERRIBLE everything was reheated right down to the poached eggs! We saw the so called chefs bring out the pre cooked poached eggs out and throw them back into hot water to warm them up! The same happened with some fish my partner had! He saw the chef place the tray in the microwave to reheat when my partner asked him why he did that the so called chef replied with "theres too many people this is how we do it" absolutely unbelievable we could not believe what the heck we were seeing or eating! For 11 out of the horrible 14 nights we were on this night mare we ate at the "beach house" where it was the best of a bad job each night we paid an extra £19 a night as there was a subcharge to this resturaunt another joke in its self! Room service- an absolute con! So our cruise apparently is "all inclusive " well dont be fooled what a big fat lie that was! They charge you for everything other than your poxy brekki! I ordered a pizza one night the pizza arrived like it had been sat in a box for the past 3 months, dry burnt and completly inedible i called room service and immediately asked them to take away the food and i was not going to pay for it- 4 hours later the pizzs remained outside our cabin door!! I seriously would not feed any of that food to my dog if i had one! Burnt toast, no grilled meats weve been living a nightmare! Staff- exceptionally RUDE other than our cabin steward Suneesh and the staff from the beach house restaurant, the rest of them had no idea what was going on from reception staff to chefs to managers absolutely disgusting i have never experienced anything like it. There is not one good thing we can say about out 14 night experience on p&o i urge anyone who is contemplating travelling with them to NOT do so, all they want you to do is spend all your money! Lets not forget the "service charge" of £98 per person i think NOT i can assure you all now they do not deserve any service charge. Thanks p&o you truly ruined our honeymoon not that you care ! Wont be wasting money with you. Read Less

We booked a taster cruise as we are looking to book a family holiday next year, we haven't been put off cruising but definitely won't be booking with P&O. Due to an on going IT issue Britannia was late to leave, late to arrive in Zeebrugge and we couldn't go on our excursion. Total lack of organisation at all levels, too many people trying to get off at once leading to closure of gangways for a time, finally able to leave ship around 1pm so too late to do a lot. Unorganized getting back on the ship with gangways being moved around, leaving everyone dockside. No record of our restaurant booking and being told we couldn't have a table at all anywhere as it was too late to book one by 2nd sitting so only option was buffet, which was average at best Breakfast was the most awful affair, literally like a scrum to get any food, queues everywhere and no tables. Rude staff that couldn't be bothered to serve at the bars or restaurants. Managers who spoke to servimg staff like dirt in front of customers. Cabin steward just letting himself in and out of the cabin without knocking, including when my husband was drying himself after a shower. The whole experience was stressful, badly managed and made worse by rude staff. Safe to say we'll be spending our money elsewhere. Read Less

Reception staff ignorant & miserable, very unhelpful. Watched an entire show, but could not get a drink. Chose this cruise for our golden wedding celebration. Having been on several carnival cruises before we were looking forward to the p&o experience. What a disappointment this was......... The ship is dull, there is no wow factor anywhere onboard, navigating the ship is confusing with only deck 7 giving front to back access, and the entertainment was poor. This ship should be renamed the " quiz ship". This was the main activity all day and night across many of the areas. The headliner theatre featured 2 guest acts over the 14 day cruise, who performed for about 30 minutes each, then empty the theatre for the next show. Couldn't believe it. The only decent act were resident band Pulse, who performed each night in the live lounge. All the executive dining options carried a £20/25 cover charge each, the spa treatments were out of our price range, the cookery club was £49 per person, even the wifi was £16 per day? It seemed to us that trying to get extra money from the guests was the main priority. For a 3 year old ship it showed signs of wear and tear, rust on the tables on deck, rust on our balcony rails, and our balcony glass was so dirty we could hardly see through it. The food was ok but nothing special, sometimes just warm in the oriental restaurant, horizon buffet was about the best. Many people swear by this ship but for us it was nowhere near the standard of fun and entertainment we are used to. Back to Carnival for us.!! Also worth a mention was the chaotic muster drill. God forbid a real emergency were to happen. We were assembled with about 300/400 other guests in the restaurant area, showed via the staff how the lifejackets were worn, then proceeded to try ourselves. No one could move, many of us including my wife never got the item worn, just another box to be ticked i thought, then we were ushered out and back to the cabin. We never even repacked ours we were so disgusted. We didn't get shown where the lifeboats were nor which one we would be assigned to. Sorry for the long review but other potential guests, and p&o themselves need to be made aware of what we saw as problems and concerns. Read Less

Flight from Gatwick to Barbados was good, no delays and flight took approx 8 hours. I felt like every time I fell asleep I was woken up with food. Cannot complain about the flight or the stewards/stewardesses. The ship is another matter, it lacked atmosphere throughout the ship but I suppose it all depends on what you are looking for. I personally have never been so bored before on a cruise before. The food was awful to say the least. Cold no matter what time of day you arrived. Steak was like boot leather and lacked taste. The Epicurian was an absolute waste of money and not the experience they claim that you will have.. totally disappointing. The buffet restaurant seemed to be Indian curry and or a roast dinner every day and night and lacked choice. The MDR food was rubbish, Luke warm and steak tough as anything.. little choice for desserts unless you like ice cream.... The main pool deck felt more like Butlins on steroids with childish party games, certainly not what one would expect after paying over £3000 for two people for one week. I am glad we only booked for one week or I think we would have had to seriously look at paying extra for an early flight home.. talking of entertainment, the Crystal lounge on deck 7 seemed to have ball room dancing all the time.. ok if you like that kind of thing, but not for us unfortunately. The only thing enjoyable was when we visited Aruba & Tobago. St Vincents was another story, getting off the ship was like running the gauntlet with men standing holding maps of the island trying to get you to take a taxi ride. In the space of a 2 minute walk I must have been stopped approximately 25 times. The walk in to the town directly from the ship was an awful experience.. with hundreds of make shift market stalls all selling vegetables and people staring at you became quite unnerving in the end. At one point I received a call on my mobile, a man saw me and made a bee line towards me whilst staring at me quite aggressively, my husband had to move and stand between me and him to stop him from stealing my phone as i’m Sure that’s what his intention was.. The walk back to the ship was just as bad, quite scary. The last thing I will say is, being on P & P Britannia has actually put both me and my husband off taking a cruise for quite some time.. which is a shame as we have cruised many times with Royal Caribbean and Princess before and enjoyed them. Save your money and go with another cruise line - P & O do not know how to keep their customers happy or entertained. Read Less

We selected this ship thinking it would be perfect due to the age and size, and how wrong were we. Who ever designed the ship needs to have a rethink. The whole layout is wrong. I felt it is crammed with cabins. Nothing is grand and giving off a wow factor. The service on the ship is average - nothing special. Staff are not really interested or bothered. The food in Horizon is just normal canteen food. hygiene on the ship is the worst I have ever seen, it's not policed at all by staff, people just walk past staff disinterested staff, water bottles being filled up at the water drink station again staff witnessed but nothing said. We had food in Merdian this was a hit and miss, you either had good service one night and awful service the next. My feeling is as soon as you get on the ship they want you to spend and spend. The drinks are expensive. Our room was ok we had an inside cabin but noise issues and complaining we were moved to a balcony- no way would I pay what some people paid for 23 nights. The entertainment was very poor, no real interaction in the day time, and night time was poor. P&O you really need to listen to customers and take on board what people are saying and learn from it. You have a British ship but yet hire Indian people....nice enough people but they are not giving the best customer service...and the reason is they don't speak 100% English. Would I go on P&O again my answer is definitely NOT, nothing special was given to me. Read Less

Just saying that there was little fun on this ship to be had apart from for the riotous kids who had taken over the swimming pool. A badly designed ship, with sharp elbows from fellow diners in the self service restaurant. Did they think that there would be nothing left for them? The cabin was good as was the cabin steward. The food was not so good, and the areas cordoned off and charged for separately seemed to be an apt comment on p&o money grabbing. We normally go with Royal Carribean and missed out on the fun, the use of Sauna without having to pay tens of pounds a day, the only thing that we really did not like on our RCI cruise to the Canaries last year was the BIG TELLY which took over the top deck and pumped out football all day and night. No wonder they are throwing cruises away cheap! Read Less

I have cruised 4 times with P&O and never again! My son and I don't use the restaurants we use the buffets for our meals, the choice is terrible with curry served every day the prawns were falling apart as were the mussels like they had been frozen for too long also calamari which was over cooked all of the above mentioned food was on par with what you would buy in Iceland (i kid you not) we even missed one meal as there was nothing we would eat off the menu we felt we were eating food we didn't really want as this was the only choice. The organisation when disembarking in Sardinia was a nightmare people stood in queue in the baking sun this was due to P&O giving us only 5 hours to visit so everyone was trying to get off the ship at the same time (poor organisation) the room service on this ship you now have to pay for (last three cruises this service was free) you can eat in the nice restaurants for a small fee, why should we pay more we already paid for the cruise and greedy P&O are trying to squeeze more money out of us. the engine was blowing black soot all over the deck which had to be washed down every day so some areas closed for cleaning. I my honest opinion I think this cruise is over charged for what you get Britannia Curry Cruise Never again Read Less

Myself and my husband ( with our two children) were sailing for 6 days cruise to Spain ,France and Guernsey. Before this cruise, we regularly go cruising, with different companies. But we never sailed with PO Cruises before. Overal I will describe a cruise to be like a boarding school experience with terrible food and really bad service. We had many issues with the service on the cruise, such as: There were 2 black tie nights during our 6 nights on board. My husband did not bring a black jacket and boe tie . We, because if this, were not allowed in the restarant and on desks during those nights. We had a terrible problem with our room card is not working and we had to go to reception 5 times to sort it out. It took us nearly 3 days and during this time we were not able to buy drinks. The food was just not eatable. It can be described as very bad quality pub food, the same every day. The were very long wait at every port and everyone had to wait for up to an hour for transportation and to go back onto the ship. The staff either ignored our complains, or constantly told us off. They appear to be only interested in selling extras to us. Our last port of call was cancelled by the captain due to the 25 knots wind . It looked fine and snny to me, butthe captain just told us that there will be no stop in Guernsey. We both felt that PO cruises provided us with the experience which we can not described as a holiday. We were so glad to arrive back to Southampton. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we wanted a short break and to visit Brugge .Please do not book suite cabin G733 or the cabin next door which is G731. The vibrations that we encountered in G733 from the engines were horrendous .They are so bad that you won't be able to sleep for much of the night. You will also get loads of soot on the balcony . The problem with cabin G731 is not the same vibrations from the engines BUT you will hear all the noise from the Live Lounge which is situated under this cabin. We did think that we may be able to hear distant music but not to the extent that again you cannot sleep. It sounds as if the music is coming from the other side of the wall!! This not only happens all evening and into the early hours of the morning but also every time they have rehearsals. The vibrations from the music can also be felt and you will notice if you put something on the table that you can physically see it moving even when you are docked. The staff are aware but P&O still sell these cabins. The service onboard was ok,nothing great but the food was well presented. We went to the shows which were of a good standard. Read Less

To celebrate two friend 70th birthdays we saved all year for this weekend break to Brugge arriving at Southampton excited they had in correctly produced our key cards Wrong and this is where I think all the problems stemmed from they soon made new ones and we (all four of us )boarded the ship we had two cabins both with onboard credit !!! Only every time my two friends tried using their key cards to pay the didn't work we reported this on two occasions but the staff in my opinion were not qualified to sort this problem out WHY !! I was rudely told that I would have to sort it when we returned on shore WHY !! I ordered two bouquet to be in there cabin on arrival which they were but nearly dead WHY !! I ordered a cake to be presented at our table on Saturday night it DID NOT I complained and they thought it was ok to put it in there cabin on a plate not even wrapped for them when they were leaving WHY!! On Friday evening we were turned away at 9.20 (it does say 9.30) because they already had 130 other people waiting WHY !! On Sunday morning we were up earlier for breakfast then returned to our cabins at 7.45 (you don't have to be out till 8am) and the cleaner had already been in our cabins removed all our cases and handbags off our beds and remade the room ready for the next passengers and had thrown away our toiletries from the bathroom WHY!! Our final bills were NOT delivered to our cabins WHY!! On returning home I have spoken to many employees of p and o and have politely asked them to investigate WHY our on board credit was not credited off our bill and also WHY am I still waiting for a refund for the dead flowers and cake WHY WHY WHY am I sill waiting when we were told we have a complaint to be investigated within 28days are we still waiting for customer relation (Jessica Neal ) to even acknowledge our emails WHY I have sailed previously with p and o and other cruise ships but this was my three friends first time I do not think now that they will ever go cruising again ( well certainly not with p and o) the worst bit about it is being ignored Has an experienced cruiser I think this ship is too big for them to cope with ,staff have very low moral the food was basic yes basic (unbelievable for a cruise ) For just a weekend away there was a lot more to complain about but I won't bore you any more I've had enough of complaining us four friend are very happy cheerie people normally such a shame Read Less

Our letter to P&O - the response from them was dreadful! TERRIBLE customer service!! Our Cabin We booked an inside cabin on the A deck, room A249. On arrival in to our room it felt clean and tidy which was nice, however, when we got in to the bathroom it was different story. The wallpaper on the approach the bathroom was coming off the wall! Inside the shower, we found black mould build up around the door and on the sink and plug holes. I have printed pictures so you can see how this was. For the thousands that we spent on this holiday, this was not nice to be met with! We asked our cabin steward to clean this for us, however, it was not the best job so we did it ourselves eventually. We phoned down to reception also to ask if we could upgrade on multiple occasions, but were told we could not at that stage. We were never offered an explanation why, other than to try back the day after, and the day after that, which we did, but we were always told the same thing. Our cabin steward though, Victor, was very nice to us and very accommodating when we needed something. The Buffett Sailing on board Ventura, some 5 years ago, we expected the Buffett to be as good, if not better on board Britannia, however unfortunately this was not the case. The buffet aisles were so small and narrow that there was just simply not enough room for the amount of people that there was to navigate successfully with a tray to get their meals comfortably. Everyone was moaning about this, and at peak times, it became unbearable, as you could not get to the food for the amount of people that were in the way, so on a couple of occasions, we left and came back later. This is not how it should be, and we should not have had to do this. If there were a need to evacuate in that area, I would have serious concerns that this would be a risk to passengers. Secondly, why do you feel the need to not label all of the food and we just have to guess what the dish is being presented to us? Half of the food had no labels, and when we asked the people behind the counter, they did not know and had to find someone, or could not understand us enough to help us. It was very poor and made our experience worse in the buffet. Thirdly, the quality of the food was at times, questionable. The pies had very bad pastry, and on one occasion, I had to send it back as it was not cooked properly, and the eggs for Breakfast were often under cooked, as well as numerous other dishes. It just felt very school canteen like, and not the standard I would have expected for a luxury cruise liner. When we approached members of the staff in here to ask them questions, they were also short tempered with us and didn’t really look interested in answering any questions from passengers about what the food was, or where the toilets were, sometimes just pointing the answer out or asking someone else as they didn’t know the answer. It was very odd at times. The Meridian Restaurant Whilst the quality of the food in the Meridian improved somewhat, the service was questionable. One evening, I had to get up and pour my own wine because the wine waiter was conversing with his colleagues, which was clearly more important than being attentive to the needs of some of the passengers. We also asked where our food was on more than two occasions, as their were delays between some courses. Again, not what we expected and were left feeling disappointed. The Entertainment Team If I were to use the word, flat, this would probably go some way to describing some of the colleagues working in this team. We were very impressed with Tracy, the woman in charge of the team, but her colleagues were very poor. We had to listen to a young Scottish chap in the team, who over the microphones was draining! His energy was so weak when he was describing something that should have been exciting. I am not sure where his head was at, but he was not engaging. The other members of that team also felt like they were there and being punished rather than working to try to make our experience better. Again, not good. The Headliners Theatre As keen theatregoers, and after seeing the production quality on board Ventura previously, we really thought that Britannia was going to pull out all of the stops. We were very impressed with the LED Wall; however that is about where it stopped. The quality of the singing from one of the male singers was dreadful, whilst the others mimed and danced around as if they were imprisoned, rather than displaying bags of energy and fun! The shows were lacking something, which again was different to Ventura, which were all about acting, dancing, singing… Maybe they relied too much on the LED wall for the visual and forgot what they were there to do, which was provide us with that superb memorable experience. The sound was dreadful! At one point, one of the girls was singing, and the speakers started to distort somewhat, and it was a very uncomfortable listening experience. In addition, at other times, it was so quiet you could hardly hear anything! Again, just so messed up all over and never really did anything run smoothly in that theatre? You are supposed to be the crème de le crème of theatre and visual excitement, but at times, it was very uncomfortable viewing, to the point where we felt like we did not want to see any more. It was way down in our expectation level. The lighting was also all over the place, with the house lights randomly coming up mid performance and lights not joined up on the stage. Something small in the grand scheme of things, but enough for us to notice! The Live Lounge The performances in here were ten times better than in the Theatre. Pulse were amazing and Verity, one of the singers, was so good! However, some of their performances were ruined by poor technical quality. Every night, the sound of mobile phone signals would be very loud through the speakers, which would ruin some performances. Why did the technical team not notice this and do something about it? It was so annoying. Even pulse noticed it. This is a problem of 5-10 years ago surely, and something should be in place to prevent it. A small point, but one that annoyed me and our guests as it ruined our experience somewhat. The main issue in here was the waiter service and time it took for us to order drinks and for them to be delivered to our table. On a couple of occasions, we could not find a waiter to order, and had to go the bar and order ourselves, and on other occasions, it took an age for the drinks to arrive at the table after we had ordered them. Not good enough! The Dress Code This is something that I was very annoyed about in many ways. On formal nights or when there was to be a dress code in place, such as smart casual etc, there were numbers of guests walking around in shorts etc. On one occasion in the live lounge during a black and white formal night, a large family, and others, came in with shorts and caps on which they had been in all day, being very loud after being highly intoxicated sat right in the middle of the room around 100 people who had made an effort to get dressed up, to have to listen to and witness that! Why did they not have to comply with the dress code? The dress code was applicable to the buffet and this was abused regularly with staff members choosing to not deal with this! Why on formal nights do they let people in to the restaurants with suits on rather than black tie? Alternatively, open neck t-shirts rather than smart clothing was not being challenged? I know you cannot stop everyone but not a single person was challenged on this, and it made our experience, and others, a poor one! This is a tradition on cruise ships, one that we enjoy, and due to P&O’s lacking approach to conserve this, it made the ship feel cheap, and tacky! General The toilets around the ship generally were very poor. On several occasions, we found no soap in the dispensers to wash our hands with which we found wholly unacceptable, and on other occasions, they were dirty and regularly blocked. Again, just not good enough to operate in this way! The ships temperature was also not good. In some areas, it was very warm and others very cold which made certain experiences uncomfortable. Why your staff cannot notice this rather than passengers having to alert someone that it is either too hot or too cold, I do not know. On the last day of our cruise, we went to watch a film as other passengers were disembarking. During the film, there were several announcements over the shops PA system that was fine, but it only cut out the noise of the movie rather than pause it also. At key points in the movie, the film played whilst we had to listen to someone go on for a few minutes about disembarkation. I understand the announcements. Why can the film just not be paused whilst this happens? Frustrating and annoying. On the whole, the experience was poor than we would have expected from Britannia, bearing in mind we half knew what to expected, after travelling with you on Ventura, some years ago. You have some real staffing and technical issues which you need to iron out on that ship. We spent £3,000 on our room bill and £2’500 on our fare. So for £5’500 we felt very annoyed about what we had experienced and felt it necessary to put these feelings down on paper. Read Less

We chose this ship because of tv advert and that it was a new ship and hadn't sailed with P&O before. No stairs midships so lifts were always busy had to go down just to get up 1 floor.we were below the lido deck which was always noisy shifting sun loungers about early morning. And music booming out at night. The seating area surrounding the tables at the pool were very dirty and the table bases were rusty, windows could do with a good clean too. We certainly will not be aboard this ship again. We are in our 60 s and 70 s but does not mean we do not enjoy a good time. The entertainment also was dreadful. It reminded me of a holiday camp and so did the food not a lot of choice.the food was very repetitive in the horizon with people wandering about with trays to see if there was anything different, also food was very dry and sometimes not very warm. Crew were rude and disinterested, WI fi at £12.50 per day only worked for 8 hours, the librarian was simply one of the rudest, most arrogant men I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, refused to conternance any refund without a massive argument and a recourse way above his pay grade Read Less

We chose this cruise as a member of my party can only go in school holidays, and having cruised the Baltic on the last one we decided to go for warmth this year. The first disappointment, we were informed before we had even got on the ship that Gibraltar was canceled as they could not berth the ship to to it being very busy on our day of arrival !!!!! should the ship's berth not be booked as soon as the cruise go on sale to the public ???? the substitute was Guernsey !!! Embarkation was well organised and done swiftly, our cabin was kept spotlessly clean by our steward Ram who was warm and friendly, we were disappointed at the size of our balcony hardly room for two people to sit out with the chairs reclined. the ships lay out is ridiculous, you can not walk from one end of the ship to the other without going through the dining rooms and using the lifts, anyone with a disability would find this ship extremely frustrating as the lifts are always full because of the lack of stairs from people that can and will use them. (with the exception of the stairs that go to no where). We chose Freedom dining and i have never experienced such non discript food on a cruise before, several same items were on the menu every night, and on a couple of nights food could not be eaten due to under cooking (paella) and quality of meat (lamb). The Horizon buffet tried its best but food was often cold and repeated, very poor choice of fruit available all the same for 14 days !!!! The majority of staff on Britannia need to smile more and try to be a little more friendly towards the guests. Some of the ports were very well organised but to be charged 4 euros each way for a shuttle bus at a port that you can not walk out of is a disgrace. Our final port of Guernsey was farcical to board the tenders was organised chaos and the delays getting off the ship were ridiculous. Never again P&O for you its all about the money, you can take of your passengers whilst on board. Read Less
