This was our first Viking cruise. The experience was as wonderful as our river cruise. Service, food and itinerary outstanding. Guides were exceptional and we felt like we had real insider views from the locals of each country. The cruise offered a wide range of excursions and we enjoyed traveling by foot, bus, boats and cable cars. The food was the best we ever had on a cruise. Dining was open and it was easy to get a table whatever time we choose to dine. No long lines or hassle with reservations. The service and staff was outstanding. Rooms always clean, room service 24x7 in addition to all the diverse places to eat. Seafood buffet nightly was amazing and food in the dining room diverse and tasty. We were wowed by the entertainment, the house band and singing crew were wonderful. Everyone was up close and personal, it was a wonderful experience. Read Less

Although we watched little TV in our cabin, when we did operational is was slow to respond. The walking tours were great and most of the guides we good. The only on shore tour we would eliminate was Sete. It is a fishing village and does not offer much. The bus tour of Barcelona was good and gave us a heads of on where to go in the city. We stayed two extra days on our own. One of the best paid tours for the money was the Ca Lunae winery tour . It was excellent. The tea service was great. Maybe too much food. The pool area was crowed at times but manageable The wine served was very good and plentiful. Best meal was served at Manfredi's. Read Less

This cruise was to celebrate a special anniversary, our 50th and we wanted a very special cruise to a place we had never been. The 7 Night Iconic Western Mediterranean cruise did not disappoint. We felt pampered in every way. The ship is beautiful. The food was delicious and all of the Star's employees were always eager to please the passengers in every way. The entertainment on board was wonderful. The bathroom in the stateroom exceeded my expectation. It put a smile on my face every time I want in it and the heated floor was such a treat. All of the toiletries were high quality. I didn't have to use any that I brought, which I always do just to make sure. An especially nice perk is that every deck has three washer and dryers for guests to use free of charge, including detergent and an iron and ironing board. I was able to come on board with clean cloths and leave with clean cloths. I would highly recommend a Viking cruise. You will not be disappointed. Read Less

We wanted to explore Rome, Barcelona, and points in between; this cruise afforded us the opportunity to travel safely and with few worries. The Viking Star was the cleanest ship imaginable, and our cabin was immaculate. Staff members Made and Maha kept it that way the entire cruise, and accommodated our few special requests. We enjoyed all restaurants and cuisine we tried -- World Cafe, Manfredi's, and the Chef's Table. Dining al fresco was a special treat for the four of us. We enjoyed lectures available on board, and also the evening entertainment in the Star Lounge. An unexpected acknowledgment and recognition of the Viking staff on our last night onboard by the cruise director was a very poignant moment. (Good job!) The spa was a favorite activity, as was the infinity pool. Shore excursions were exceptional, if not a little tiring. We were very impressed with very smooth embarkation and disembarkation experiences, thanks to Viking's top-notch staff. And we look forward to our next Viking cruise! Read Less

We wanted to try Viking ocean cruise ships since we have made several river cruises. It was a beautiful ship with the customary superb Viking care, service and food. And we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary by visiting Italy for the first time, taking the Italian Sojourn, Venice to Rome cruise. We took the Tuscany extension which included staying in a 600 year old villa set in the beautiful Tuscany countryside. One of the highlights of that visit was an enchanting dinner at an even older villa and winery. Viking excels in remarkably designed cabins that maximize space and efficiency. We received the wonderful care by the crew on our deck as well as in the dining room as we have in the past river cruises we've taken. One of the bonuses of the ocean cruise was the remarkable lecturer who was uniquely qualified to communicate enriching information and insights into both Italy and Croatia as well each port of call. He was delightful and helpful in his presentations and happily answered questions one on one. Another bonus was the tremendous bargain we received by scheduling our next cruise while onboard during the cruise. We chose a river cruise from Lyon to Avignon in southern France and the saved a great deal by dong that. All in all, we encourage anyone to try Viking ocean cruises.. Read Less

We had gone on a Viking River Cruise, and were so impressed with the quality that we decided to try an Ocean Cruise. We added a 2 day stay in Barcelona before the cruise and a 3 day stay in Tuscany after the cruise. Everything was arranged by Viking for this. Upon arriving in Barcelona, we were greeted by Viking reps at the luggage pick up and they graciously guided us through customs and to our transportation to our hotel At the Hotel we were again greeted by a Viking representative to lead us to checking in to the hotel, and since we were early for our room, he led us to an area where other reps talked to us about possible excursions were could take while in Barcelona. Absolutely no pressure was put on us to take any excursions at all. The rep answered all of our questions and guided us to an excursion that would show us Gaudi sites in town. Our room was ready when we finished. The recommended tour was great, as was the night of flamenco dancing they recommended. We were given clear instructions about where to leave our luggage for the trip to the ship, and that all went seamlessly. At the ship we were again greeted graciously, and given champagne while we waited for our room where we found all our luggage already delivered. We were almost immediately greeted by our steward who answered all our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. The next 13 days were glorious. the excursions were well planned and left plenty of free time for us to explore on our own. back at the ship, the service was amazing. The staff could not do enough for you, and the food....I didn't miss a meal which was the only problem with the trip. Many of the staff knew us by name after seeing them only a few times and made us fee as if we were the only couple they needed to take care of. We visited 4 of the restaurants on board and the food was excellent in each. The 3 days in Tuscany afterward I would recommend to everyone. Bothe the hotel and oyr guide were amazing. Read Less

The best review is....WE BOOKED ANOTHER CRUISE while onboard! Our positives are too many to mention here...glorious sunrises with breakfast on our private veranda are at the top of that long list! Viking is a well-oiled machine...from coordination of airport transportation, embarkation, the fabulous excursion options, how we were organized to exit the ship for excursions, dining options, OMG! We felt spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. Our only negative was the post-extension in Rome. Going forward, we will consider a pre-extension....the post-extension affected our relaxed mood following the cruise where we were spoiled, but I’m sure that was the hustle and bustle of Rome. Wish Viking had offered us excursions in advance in Rome during the post-extension trip just as they did during the cruise as all cruise excursions were excellent. Of the two Viator tours that we booked on our own in Rome, one was phenomenal and one was a disappointment (the most expensive one!). The group dinner on our last night in Rome, that our Viking rep at the hotel coordinated after our arrival in Rome, was a night to remember, so.... more of that please. I personally needed to pre-arrange in advance to assure we took full advantage of our short time in Rome. So, giving us advance options for Rome through Viking would have been preferred. I heard a few others on the cruise who were also in the post-extension trip say the same. We now plan to take many more cruises with Viking. THANK YOU VIKING!!! Read Less

Well we came off this cruise with two more booked.....and can't wait to experience viking again Needless to say we LOVED it and it was the best experience we've had on a cruise (this was at least our 12th). -Embarkation/Disembarkation was super easy -The rooms were lovely and the layout of the ship was spacious and felt so relaxing -Our steward I Made was excited and made us feel very welcome for the two weeks aboard -The excursions ran very smoothly! and we loved getting free bottle water before we got off the ship at each port -The food was incredible as was the service in the dining areas -The spa was a lovely treat after a long day -We loved the board games too! Also provided garlic free dinners for special dietary needs. 50th Wedding Anniversary cake was fantastic and one of the best cakes we've ever had! Swimming pools were however too deep for elderly passengers to enjoys 5' 10" uniform depth. over 95% of passengers heads and had to tread water. Too discomforting! Also thermal suite was not monitored by a Viking attendant. Too much risk for the elderly: thermal shock, pool current very strong, slippery floors, lighting..... Would like at least one other entree choice at the Chef's Table menu. Say one meat entree and one seafood entree, Also not enough wine portions served with each course. Everything else at the alternative dining venues was excellent. Read Less

We chose Viking because of the small ship. All of our other cruises have been on large cruise ships and we are tired of those. We lived in Europe for two years so we weren’t interested in any of the River Cruises you offered as we have already toured those areas. We had not been to Italy so that was why we chose this cruise. We were so pleased with all of the staff on this cruise. From the cabin staff to the bar staff, they were all wonderful. We ate most meals at the World Cafe because we did not realize you had to make reservations so far in advance for the speciality restaurants. I would have liked to have had a more varied restaurant choice. The World Cafe was good but I do not liking eating at buffets, so it was not a good dining experience for me. I am also a vegetarian and there were not a lot of vegetarian dishes at the buffet. We would love to do a Viking Cruise to Scotland. Do you have any of those planned in the future? Read Less

We chose the Viking Cruise because of all the fabulous countries that it offers to take people. We have seen many commercials about Viking and we loved that everyone has a balcony to sit out and relax. With other cruise lines, this is given to passengers that pay more. Viking is also very different in a great way. We were given wine, beer and soft drinks with our meals, sit down dinner restaurants are also included versus other cruise lines where you have to pay for your meals in these restaurants. Food was outstanding with Gelato every day! You can have a steak cooked to your preference. Viking offers complimentary excursions in every port or you can opt out and choose one that you want to pay. With other cruise lines, all excursions are paid by passengers. The entertainment was the best. We had dancing in the lobby with the Cruise Director and entertainers participating. Washers and dryers with detergent and fabric softeners are there free for passengers. Outstanding staff that go out of their way to make the impossible possible for passengers. I have heard many former Viking cruisers that they will not use any others but Viking. We had a blast and will continue to return to Viking for our vacations! Read Less

This was our first Viking cruise, and overall we were thrilled with our experience. Looking for a cruise with more stops, and no sea days in the mediterranean, this was a great option. Service was king, and clearly on the minds of every staff member we encountered. From checkin to waitstaff... we were treated very well. The only major complaint was not being able to wear shorts in the dining room. This was pretty ridiculous. The rules don't say explicitly that we couldn't wear shorts. I wear pressed shorts and most days had a nice linen button up shirt on, with either sneakers or birkenstocks. Given that it was HOT in most ports and we were tired at the end of the day... being met with resistance at our wardrobe was not welcome. I'm told that we could have insisted in the dining room... but I would rather it just be clear... shorts should be acceptable. I would call the way I dressed more "Resort Casual" or "Country Club Casual" yet was denied access to the main dining room. Thankfully the buffet was excellent. The staff was attentive, quickly coming to tables for drinks and to clear plates. The food selections were also very good, even having a few fun nights at the pool where they had fish and chips and surf and turf. The coffee bar in the main lobby area was also excellent. It was also nice to have basic drinks included. We're not drinkers, but not charging extra for specialty coffees was a huge plus. We also loved that there was plenty of spacious room in the common areas around the main staircase, with beautiful blankets. It was cozy and warm, and felt more like a really classy hotel... instead of the Vegas glitz that many cruise ships have adopted. Even with my complaint about shorts, and the fact that the TV in our stateroom didn't have a sleep timer and we could hear the neighboring stateroom tv though the wall... it was a wonderful experience. The ship, the crew, the food, the overall experience was just amazing! There are not enough words to describe how wonderful our trip was. We were first time cruisers and we cannot wait to do another. In fact, we signed up for a river cruise while on board. The crew were very attentive and catered to our every wish. The room was very comfortable and quiet too. The dining was simply terrific! There was a variety of food to choose from every day and all day if you desired. The 24 hour room service on board was a wonderful treat for us when I did not want to get up and get ready to go to breakfast. NOTE: I do wish there were gluten free desserts readily available, but I did manage just fine. The entertainment was okay. I expected better, but we did not go on this cruise just to be entertained. The Cruise Director Jenna was the best singer of all of the singers on board. The musicians however were top notch. We loved that the excursions were included, but wished some of them were more than just a walking tour of the port town. We would have liked more INCLUDED historical excursions in Venice, Messina & Sicily. We did pay extra for some excursions in order to see the historical sites. Would we go again? You bet! Not this exact cruise, of course, but another ocean cruise in the future is highly possible. Read Less

This was our third consecutive, annual cruise with Viking. Having enjoyed several of their river cruises, we decided upon an ocean voyage this year, in part because we were taking our two "under 30" ages kids. Viking ocean cruises offer more onboard than do their river going sisters and thought the additional options would be more suited to their interests than the rather sedate life on a river cruise. As we expected, the cruise was wonderful and one all of us will always remember. The itinerary was selected for its historical and cultural value. The ship embarked in Athens, but, since Viking offers no excursions before boarding, we booked a private company to pick us up at the airport, provide us with a personalized tour, and deliver us to the ship in time to sail. Regrettably, flight delays caused us to miss the (expensive) Athens tour and almost the ship itself. Although the flight delays were no fault of Viking, Viking imposes a financial "penalty" for guests who plan their flights through their air department and wish to fly in on any date OTHER than day of embarkation. This really cuts time very, very short, with little allowance for flight delays. For some absurd reason, Viking charges $100. extra, per guest, if they choose to fly in a day early and avoid the type of grief we experienced. Why they feel this cost is justified is beyond our comprehension. First, the customer saves Viking the need to provide an airport transfer to the ship. The customer purchases their own transportation, hotel, entertainment, food and beverage. It costs Viking nothing and actually save them time and trouble. I'm still annoyed with this policy as it affecting our next cruise plans with Viking. Once aboard, everything was delightful. The food was exceptional. Excellent variety and selections, fresh, beautifully presented and prepared with an expert hand. Since we are wine enthusiasts, we always purchase the Silver Spirits package as a convenience. It is actually quite a bargain. The wine list was adequate and far from legendary.Nevertheless, the Sky's sommelier, Roman, was delightful and went to extra effort to make suggestions and recommendations. Our waiters and the hostess always recognized us and called us by name! Our cabin steward, Edy, was equally fantastic. He could not have been more friendly, helpful, attentive and thorough. Always at the ready to assist in any way possible, including remembering my cabin number when I forgot it the first couple of days. If you are looking for a cruise with non-stop entertainment, Viking is not for you. We choose Viking specifically for that reason. No casinos, no guests under 18, no ambitious broadway shows, rock-climbing walls or on-board surfing. Viking caters to a different demographic. In the case of the Sky, guests could enjoy several pools and jacuzzi's, a heavenly spa facility too impressive for me to describe here (it has a "snow-room", if you can imagine), a full gym, and outdoor exercise and sports options (putting green, shuffleboard). Plenty to occupy one's interests when not ashore. We have always found Viking to provide exceptional shore excursions. The guides are very knowledgeable and, with few exceptions, quite amenable, enthusiastic and helpful. We did, however, experience quite a bit of unhappiness and discomfort on the 5 hour optional excursion to Krka National Park. The park itself was spectacular and well worth the time. The problems occurred when the guide seemed to underestimate the time required for many "older folks" to walk across narrow bridges or pathways. Secondly, the bus driver became completely lost on the way back to the ship. This confusion added two hours of unhappiness, which became more and more pronounced as time ticked on. Guests were unhappy, and the bus driver and guide swearing at each other! The final problem, and very upsetting to us, was the communication (not) provided by the Viking representative at the Hotel Molino Stucky where we stayed during our three day post-cruise extension in Venice. Poor communication caused us great confusion, grief and some money. When this fact was brought to her attention, she became very hostile and defensive. Rather than simply say " sorry for the misunderstanding", she thought it better to pursue an argument. She was truly the only completely rude Viking employee we have ever experienced. Embarcation and disembarkation are non-events with Viking. Quick, simple, no lines, no confusion. So, all in all, a great trip. We forgive Viking the glitches and will be repeat guests. Off to the Nile in 2020! Read Less

We have done Viking River Cruises and they have been very nice. Thought we would like to try the ocean and weren't disappointed. The itinerary was also a draw as we hadn't been to these places. Hard to say what I liked best so I will just leave it that the 'package' was marvelous. Food, service, décor, excursions were all outstanding. We didn't eat in one of the reservation only dining areas but the others were so good! I quickly found that three desserts with each meal was perfectly okay. I also did the afternoon tea and it was great. A room service breakfast started the day right. Our cabin steward was so nice and by the morning after we embarked knew our names. I enjoyed sitting in the public rooms listening to music and having a drink in the afternoon. Things were tasteful and not overdone and quiet. No bands blaring at the pool! We had very knowledgeable guides for all excursions and learned a lot. It was hot but that is normal for the area in August. Too bad there isn't a rating higher than 5. I can't wait to go on another Viking cruise. Read Less

OK this site wants me to type more so here it goes. My lovely wife of 32 years were considering the world cruise and she said Whoa! Our first experience on an ocean cruise was a tiny ship in Alaska I think it held 60 people. That was an amazing experience and our son was 10 then. Our second was Carnival Cruise the Mexican riviera and it was horrible even with the suite we hated every moment from embarkation to debarkation. We did that cruise for our teenage son to socialize all he did was read LOL. We have done 4 AMAWaterways trips and loved them but those were river cruises. So When it was announced Viking was doing a world cruise the same day I booked ES1 cabin 4000 put a deposit down and happily called my life partner and she said WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY! She pointed out the horrible Carnival Cruise experience and said what the ^%$& are you thinking. I promptly called the best travel agent and she was yea its a long trip but its the best ocean cruise not a Carnival cruise at all. She suggested a 14 day and I went for the 21 and suite 4000. With that said here we go. First the transfer to the hotel (four nite pre cruise) was flawless and tours amazing in a wonderful hotel. Our guide was awesome picture My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Embarkation was smooth as silk. The room; well lets just say like home. Our steward Mohamed and his team made us feel like we were at home and we wanted for nothing. Never waited in a line and never for want of a pool chair or towel or a drink. Our mornings were greeted by Gregory the Viking bartender, he also woks in the Restaurant, Alway a pleasant smile and makes the best coffee on the ship in fact the best I ever had. He always put Mr Dan and Mrs Lisa on the lids with smiley faces. The food was incredible Ellard and Glen always made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurants. The Kitchen table experience was our favorite shopping with the Chefs in Monaco was Perfect. All tours were amazing and frankly to many to thank we cant think of much to change. What we did not like: The internet is horrible I can fly at 40,000 feet at 680 MPH and get better internet. The TV channels are lacking but movie selection was great. And on departure they had a lousy exchange rate to pay your bill in EUROS and a 3% fee. Were in Europe for gods sake be fair and convenient. Kind of a sucker punch at the end of the cruise. I just put it on my card and got a way better exchange rate and no fees from bank of america. We booked two more ocean voyages with Viking and were looking at that world cruise! :) Read Less

We Arrived in Athens, we did the extension. I think it would be good to be more informative about the options on tours during the extensions. We had no idea that any tours could be booked there, so we did research and booked our own before arriving. As it turned out we did end up booking another tour with Viking that was guided, to the Acropolis. And thank goodness I had booked a "Private tour" for the same thing the next day, that wasn't guided, but since it was Private, we asked to be taken to different things. The lack of information might have been because we went through a tour company and they didn't know. But again, I think it should be a priority for that information to be given out, it would have been nice to have that option. Embarkation was a delight; we have been on two others cruise and it was so long. We ended our cruise in Rome, it was epic. We saw so many wonderful things. The ship was wonderful very beautiful and Clean. Same with our room and our Steward was the best guy, efficient and fast and so nice. The 24-hour room service was awesome only used it once, but the food was great and hot, just as good if prepared right in front of you. The restaurants were so great, wonderful food, all of them. We were very impressed by the quality of the food, and that it was truly all included. On our other cruises the Restaurant's that you had to make reservations for, the optional ones, were more money. The entertainment not so sure about, as we were so tired from our excursions we just wanted to sauna, hot tub, and snow grotto which we did every day and it was wonderful! we did go to one concert and it was nice. The violin players were very nice also. The excursions wow, they were wonderful. I love History and every port there were the best things to do. The only problem was I wanted to do them all. We did do 5 tours that were the included tours and surprisingly they were very good. I figured they would not be so nice, as the ones you had to pay extra for, but they were just as nice. The places we went and saw and learned about, is indescribable almost. We walked where Apostle Paul waked, we saw history frozen in Pompeii, The Acropolis, The Roman Coliseum, and everything in between. We are still in Awe and feel so fortunate to have been able to do and see the things we did. One thing I would recommend is water on the busses. Everywhere we went it was so, so hot. To have a cooler full of water available during the excursions would have been wonderful. We ended up after a few days learning and grabbing two bottles on our way off the ship. However, that was long gone after about two hours. The service was very, very good we felt pampered the whole time. I had to watch myself sometimes because if I joked about oh, I would like this, or that, or something, the next thing I knew it would be in our room or handed to me. I asked for bottled water once at the bar to bring back to my room and after about 5 minutes I was handed two bottles of water. Then he apologized that it took so long. Stating "sorry it took so long I had to run down five decks to get it we don't stock that here", did I mention the service was outstanding. This cruise was we thought A "once in a lifetime cruise" to celebrate our anniversary, 31 years. However, we are already talking about where we have to go next on Viking. Viking has brought our Cruising expectations to a new level. Also, fun fact there is a little museum area that was on our ship telling about Eric the Red a very popular Viking in history, I happen to be related to him. My grandfather has traced our lineage back to him. So, I Told my husband Maybe Viking would give me a discount rate because of this.... My Uncle Eric....again History, History everywhere! Dining options were exciting and enjoyable Manfredi's was a delight, the Restaurant our favorite and the Chef's table a pleasant experience too! We also enjoyed the seafood by the pool! Overall a great trip and we look forward to another. Thanks Viking. Read Less

We chose Into the Midnight Sun on the Viking Star because the itinerary was appealing and we find cruising with Viking to be enjoyable. Viking is attractive because their associates are friendly, engaging, sincerely concerned for our welfare and pay close attention to making certain that all details are covered. The itinerary included a pre-cruise option to visit Reykjavik, Iceland. We enjoyed visiting the Blue Lagoon; the national park and its fabulous waterfall; and the city of Reykjavik. Our cruise started in Bergen, Norway and continued on the inside passage past the Arctic Circle to Norway's northernmost point, the North Cape. On the way we visited breathtaking scenic fjords and small villages. The landscape photo opportunities were endless from daybreak to sleep time as there was no darkness. On our way to London, we had relaxing days at sea prior to reaching Scotland's Orkney and Shetland islands where we visited Viking settlements that dated back 5000 years. The final leg of our voyage was exceptional as our large ship navigated the Thames River from the English Channel to Greenwich, London. Read Less

We had done a River Cruise with Viking on the Rhine River Basel to Amsterdam. Vikings level of service was outstanding. Last Year we did our first Ocean with Viking on the Sun British Isles Explorer London to Norway 16 Days. It again was outstanding! Fantastic Itinerary. For this Summer we chose Viking Star on the 12 Night Mediterranean Odyssey. I can't say enough great things about the ship and crew as a whole. Everyone works extremely hard and pleases each and every guest. From our cabin (Deluxe Veranda) 3066, was always immaculately kept, House Keeping, Room Service, Maintenance when I locked our safe incorrectly. Wine Service all top Notch! The shore excursions were fantastic, especially the ones we chose. Unfortunately when we signed up for excursions, 2 were Sold Out, The Helicopter tour over Monaco and the French Riviera and the Gondola tour in Venice. However when we were on board Alonya working at the front desk who had sailed with us on Sun British Isles Trip was unbelievably helpful and got us waitlisted and cleared for both. Amazing Service and Amazing tours. Another familiar face was Hector the Wine Sommelier! He is fabulous and was so accommodating with our wine selections along with Ramon the wine steward. They both made a point to come to our table at dinner every night with recommendations. The Dining options are wonderful, the food amazing and the service again Top Notch, We never waited for anything whether a cocktail poolside, water service on the Aquavit Terrace or in any restaurant. Embarkation and Disembarkation super smooth. Our luggage did not make our connection as we were delayed out of Boston but the crew got it to our cabin before we even arrived. The only slight thing I would mention is that a few of our Ports of Call were not that pretty for the cruise Terminal. Would prefer to Moore off the coast and tender in but I understand all of the logistics in moving all the guests, buses etc. Monaco was Amazing. We just booked New Zealand, Australia and the Great Barrier Reef with Viking for 2020! :) Will never choose any other company than Viking. They do everything extremely Right :) Read Less

First time cruising with Viking. Won’t be the last. Really enjoyed shore excursions and cruise ship experiences (Spa, Snow grotto, pools and entertainment)! Food was delicious; Manfredi’s was favorite because of its popularity, reservations are required and availability is limited. We visited four countries in seven days. By far, Italy and France were our favorite countries and shore excursions. We enjoyed a Day in Tuscany and Pisa. We enjoyed a wine-lunch with friends on the Canal du Midi and where we had the most free-time, Avignon. We had visited Barcelona earlier this year and enjoyed revisiting our favorite spots in the city for example, the Gothic District, Las Rambla, La Boqueria and something new — Flamenco dance and dinner show. Embarkation and disembark processes were organized, safe, secure and seamless. Every crew member with whom we interfaced was knowledgable, helpful and professional. Many were multi-lingual. Overall, we had a wonderful first taste of Europe and will definitely cruise with Viking again. Read Less

Everything that Viking did for us was exceptional. The ship was beautiful, the food was magnificent, and our cabin was perfect. The service on the ship was wonderful and everyone was so helpful. We were so pleased with how they handled greeting us at the airport and on the ship, even with champagne. Shore excursions were great and the tour guides very pleasant and knowledgeable. Every restaurant on the ship served excellent food whether it was the formal restaurants or the casual buffet. We also liked that we did not have to dress formally to go to dinner. All the employees on and off the ship were helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. Disembarkation was smooth and when we arrived at the airport, Viking employees even took our luggage into the airport for us. Overall, we would recommend Viking to anyone who wants luxury and wonderful service. Read Less

This was a 25th wedding anniversary cruise. The boat was amazing. Room was a wonderful size. We had a deluxe veranda. The food was 5 star quality and was absolutely delicious. No need to eat off the boat. The meals served were from the region we were visiting - and did I mention they were outstanding! The excursions were good. I would choose differently on some of them now that I have been the the Iconic Mediterranean cruise. We added a pre-excursion in Rome and so glad we did. The concierge at our beautiful hotel arranged a night bus tour and fabulous meal at a restaurant in Rome. One of our highlights. The staff on the boat were extremely kind and funny. Always smiling and willing to help in any way. The only port we stayed on the boat was Montpelier. I wish we could have skipped that stop and had two days in Barcelona. Our flight on the way home was the only bad experience but not the fault of Viking. Took us 28 hours to get from Barcelona to Pittsburgh. Hope we can travel with Viking again. Loved every minute.
