Well my brother and fiancé chose this cruise to get married on. Unfortunately at the last minute she was told she was pregnant and a high risk one at that so the doctor said she could not go. At that point being a bit short notice we contacted NCL to cancel some events and other items and move the rooms around a bit and get another relative on board to use the now vacant room they had. While it was a bit short on timing and we expected some hiccups with rearranging everything the problems and trips to the main desk seemed nonstop. Lost luggage on embarkation: Check Items we were told were cancelled and had verified were stilling showing up in billing Cards were set up wrong with food codes etc. reservations set up in the morning were screwed up and my mom got attitude for their foul ups when she pointed out to the people that our table was taken. The final straw was the cheap lipservice my mother was given. I just told her not to worry I had not gambled yet and was not going to spend a dime on the boat and neither of us would be cruising with them in the future and we walked off. Aside from these problems I did notice the following which are unrelated to our cruise: Rooms do not have drawers only shelves making it hard to keep kids stuff organized. Food quality was sub par even below that on carnival No announcements were made for disembarkation at the first stop No announcements for cruisers on where to find tags to mark your luggage for disembarkation. Pool areas are tiny Overall, it just seemed the people running the cruise ship are disorganized and not as polished as other lines. On the plus side the kids camp feature the kids did love and our room steward was awesome. Read Less

So glad we got on the Norwegian Escape. The ship is beautiful and designed to make every square inch count, but the first thing I noticed was how happy and relaxed the crew looked. They did not have that overworked, "don't want to be here" look that most of the crew members I've seen on the other cruise lines I've been on have. While on our cruise we took the time to speak to many crew members and asked about how long they had worked for Norwegian, how their shifts worked, what other cruise lines they had worked for, and how much vacation time they got, etc. Every single person we spoke to said they love working for Norwegian. Most had started with another line, but had switched and would never go back! They do work hard and have long shifts, but they all seem to be grateful to be working where they are working. They feel ownership in whatever section of the ship they are working. Norwegian seems to have learned the number one lesson in good management! If you want to provide good service as part of your business, you must hire, train, and take care of good employees! They are the face of your company! I have a few I must name specifically! Maria FeDucot-Dizon is the Assistant Maitre de at Taste! She is one of those people you feel you have known forever the moment you meet her! We all 3 (I was cruising with 2 other adults, 1 teen and one 7 year old) feel that she is truly a new friend! Sameer Shaikh is the head wine steward in Taste and he was a delight! He suggested special wines for my friends who drink and even brought the 7 year old and me "virgin" delights! They both went out of their way to find us each night and they really became a highlight of our dining experience on this ship! After dinner we headed to the Mojito Bar to visit with Phyll and Erwin! What a delightful duo these two are! They are proud of their bar, and the wonderful drinks they make! They work together like a well oiled machine and make the people around the bar feel like they have "come to the party"! No matter how busy they were, they never seemed rushed or distressed! They made me "virgin Mojitos" and each one was fantastic! I will forever be trying to copy the Ginger Mojito! The best drink I ever had! According to my ship mates, they are fantastic with the rum too although one of them preferred the Raspberry Mojito! Maybe you just need to try them all...you do have 7 days and nights! lol And last, but definitely not least, our Room Steward, Daniyanto! What a delightful person. He has a smile that will light up any room and is truly fantastic! It was as if he cleaned our room everytime we left it! It was spotlessly clean, and we always had fresh ice and replenished coffee supplies! He treated our little 7 year old like his own! She is Danielle and is called Dani by her family, so we had Dani and Dani! Everytime they saw each other they acted like they were excited! She would sit in the hall and draw a picture to give him as soon as he came by! Of course, he made the towel animals, but would always do a different one for her than the one he made for our room. He called her "the princess"! They acted like real buddies! He helped make this cruise fantastic! The highlight of this cruise will remain the smiling faces of every crew member we met! I feel like a have a bunch of new friends! Can't wait to see them all again! Read Less

This was our first time on Norwegian and only our second cruise. It was for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We sailed out of Miami. We booked a MiniSuite Balcony room - mid ship. It was a great room. If you have never stayed in a balcony room you must!!!! Our room stewart was Mr. Kasmani he was amazing! Thank you for all of the towel animals!!!! So cute! Okay for the high points!!!! Cagney Steakhouse - AWESOME. You must have the 8 oz. filet. So good! Porterhouse was cooked well and flavorful, but we are from Texas and it was not very thick. My husband was a little disappointed. MINE WAS GREAT! LaCucina - also amazing!!!!! The Churrascaria - food was good but there was just too much of it. I have never ate so much meat at one setting! The all-inclusive restaurants were also pretty good. Loved their soups!!!! We had the drink package so I drank my weight is Cosmopolitans!!! SO YUMMY!!!!! Spice H2O was awesome. That is where we layed out the most, as it was all adult until the evening. Our bartender there most of the time was Shane and he was so awesome!!! Thank you for those MANGO MELTDOWNS!!!! Oh so good!!!! And the mudslides weren't too shabby either!!!! I have to say, all of the bartenders and wait staff were pretty awesome!!!! Always eager to help and please. Now for our Cruise Director Tyler and his assistant Jackie - so awesome!!!! From the 80's party, to the Glow Party, to the Battle of the Sexes the last night (I was chosen to participate and had the time of my life). GIRLS WON by the way! Tyler was everywhere and always making sure everyone was having a blast!!! Keep up the good work!!!! Now as you know everything has negatives, and so I will touch on those for just a second. The excursion - Champagne Catamaran in St. Thomas to St. John - well it says a beach and snorkel break but honestly by the time we got to the beach and off of the boat we did not have much beach time. We literally got off of the catamaran, went to the bar, purchased a beer and sandwich; went back to the beach got a chair, ate the sandwich and it was time to leave. When I pay over $100.00 a person for a beach break I expect to be able to lay out on the beach. Sorry. Also, our excursion on the last day (Parasailing in the Bahamas) was canceled due to weather. Of course that was not the ship's fault and they immediately refunded our money to our account. I have to tell you about an excursion you MUST do! It is the Catamaran to JOST VAN DYKE. We took this and it is WELL WORTH THE MONEY. The catamaran is the Rebel Yell and the crew, well they were simply awesome! We had 2 1/2 hours on the beach and SOGGY DOLLAR BAR is so fun. You must have a painkiller. That is their signature drink. We were so impressed, my husband and I are going to plan a trip back just to stay on Jost Van Dyke. The Soggy Dollar has some beach bungalows you can rent. My overall rating of this cruise was A++++ 100%. Selection - awesome. Amenities - Awesome!!!! WOULD DEFINITELY DO THIS CRUISE AGAIN!!!!! This was the first cruise I have taken (since 1998) and everywhere you eat, the food is exceptionally delicious. The bread is never hard, the meats are always tender, and even the sugar-free cakes and pies are great. Getting on and off was incredibly easy. The ship stayed clean despite 4100 plus people aboard. We stopped in the Bahamas, Tortola, and St Thomas. The shore excursions were mostly water related, but we did take in some historic views, Not a drinker, so I can't tell you about the drinks. The ship has 20 decks with three or four water slides, and sky line activity that children can take part in including walking a plank that extends a little over the side of the ship. This cruise ship is certainly family friendly with the variety of shows that you have to get to early in order to get a good seat. Read Less

We have been on two cruises and this one takes 1st place. The ship is beautiful and kept so clean. It has an abundance of choice's for dining from grab something quick in the to white linen dining! We tried several of the specialty dining and and I cant say which was best because they all were excellent! The pool area is rather small for a ship that carries 6,000 guest but we did so many off shore excursions that we did not spend that much time at the pool. We are not into the loud areas but always found a spot where the traffic was less. Our excursions were all amazing. Hands down our favorite port was Roatan, Honduras..................Maya Key was AMAZING! The cruise director was simply AMAZING AND TALENTED BEYOND WORDS! We went and caught the Howl at the Moon, dueling piano show. What a great rock ‘n’ roll dueling piano show. They performed some of my favorite songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today. TOTALLY AWESOME! This was my second cruise, first solo. Family and friends unable to go. I was in a solo studio cabin, with access to the studio lounge. Lounge has cookies, baked items, fruit, ice water, orange juice, and best of all a cappuccino machine. We had a solo coordinator (Jacky Tang) WONDERFUL!! We ate in the main dinning room for dinner. Breakfast I either ate in one of the main dinning room or the Garden Cafe, depending on how busy the day was. When I did eat lunch I ate in the Garden Cafe. I felt the main dining room's food was not as good as it could have been. The choices were limited and the food was not the highest quality. I feel they have put their time and effort into the specialty restaurants and let the others decline a bit. Howl at the Moon was my most favorite entertainment. Lots of activities for children and younger people. I did do the rope course and the blue slide. The service was wonderful, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Harvest Cay was beautiful, but the weather was on and off so most people stayed or came back to the ship early. I did "Discover Scuba" in Costa Maya at a small dive shop Dreamtime Dive. They were great, and very helpful and understanding. My only complaint was I had to visit the medical center, they informed me about the cost of the exam, but didn't advise me of the additional cost of the RX. An antibiotic cost nearly as much as the visit. On a good note I had trip insurance. I had a wonderful time, meet other solo travelers, checked several things of my list. Yes I would do it again, in fact I have the Getaway booked for next year! Read Less

The overall experience with the quality of the food and the staff on-board were excellent for the large things and most of the small things. There are many area's that NCL can improve related to small things that would improve the overall cruise experience 1 NCL on-board application lacks basic functionality such as ship map, integration with activities selected in port, integration with bill activities where the tv and app had different information 2 Elevators go to different floors which creates confusion. When disembarking from the ship, the information said go to the 4th deck but the aft elevators that went to 4 were prevented from going to that deck. 3 Signage throughout the ship gave different messages 4 Show availability on-board where i thought reservations needed but they were not. When i made reservations, they didn't show up in the application so that i was reminded of it. 5. There were signage issues that caused confusion. Rope area had a sign about where to go get pix but it was the wrong floor 6 Pix area directed people to folders to review pix but our folder was empty. Used the kiosk/app (link in on-board app would be helpful) and found a handful more pix. There were also pix missing associated with our room. 7 A fee per usage of room service as listed in the literature caused us to not use it... We had a balcony room and other cruise lines without this fee would have had us getting coffee in the morning and tea/milk in the evening on the balcony but not here... Read Less

This was our fifth cruise but first on Norwegian. We were pleasantly surprised when we boarded to find, compared to other cruise line(s), the food that was available at 1200 when we boarded was fantastic. On prior cruises, the selection was essentially hamburgers and hotdogs; not on Norwegian! Embarkation as simple, quick and orderly. The staff were friendly, professional and took the time to answer all of our questions. There was a couple of declaration pages to complete prior to boarding; it would be nice to have those available to download and fill out ahead of time to save that 10 minutes. To begin, the ship was larger than any we had been on previously; which just meant it was easier to get lost! The "6-7-8" area; where decks 6, 7, and 8 converge made for an easy spot to get your bearings. The carpet along the hallways where the rooms are have fishing point towards the bow of the ship; cleaver! The room wasn't huge, but how much space do you need for two people when you're just sleeping. We had adjoining balcony rooms. I asked to have the balcony door in-between unlocked but they refused citing "regulations". I appreciate the concern for fire but those doors weren't floor to ceiling so if fire had happened, it would still spread; this was the only real "disappointment". The are dozens of dining options. We did not make use of the up-charged dining rooms as we were pleased with what was included. Some friends we made said they visited Cagney's Steak and were disappointed so we didn't feel we missed out. The excursions, as with any cruise line, are pricey. We found a private company in Roatan and enjoyed the day with just the five of us and our own tour guide. I would recommend looking into those options. We did book a Dolphin excursion and L-O-V-E-D that time! Swimming with them was AWESOME! Oh - birthday celebration. Our 17 year old turned 18 on the last day of the cruise, only the cake was delivered on the wrong day and the card address to the wrong person. And we even stopped by the concierge once aboard the ship to verify everything; that was frustrating. Service was mostly very good. We did have a few occasions where the dining staff couldn't have cared less we were there. When I mentioned the issue to the Maitre D', it was immediately addressed and the attitude quickly changed. It's unfortunate I had to say anything and this is my greatest concern with having a set amount of gratuities charged to my room; why should the staff work hard when they know they're getting a set amount? How about introducing a sliding scale of mandatory tips? This way you're ensured they receive something but not a forced 18%? We were disappointed to find the main pool was 18 and over during the day. Three of our four girls came with us, 20, 17 and 16 and to disallow them from the MAIN POOL AREA was inappropriate. Perhaps this should be reviewed and considered being lowered to 10 or 12 and under. The entertainment was enjoyable, the comedians were funny and the "Brat Pack" show was enjoyable. Disembarkation was not as smooth. As we did not check any luggage we self-exited. PLAN AHEAD! After 10 minutes of trying to get an elevator from deck 12 at 0745, we gave up and carried everything down to deck 7. Once there, the line was LONNNNNNNNNG and we were directed to keep walking to the aft to get in that line. Big surprise, no line, we walked RIGHT OFF and past the 200+ people in the other line. This should be addressed, I am glad we didn't wait in the first line. OVERALL: I would sail with Norwegian again, the food is good, the rooms are adequate and the staff are friendly! Read Less

This was by far one of the best cruises I have taken and I have taken over 100. I could not find one thing to complain about. Getting on and off was a breeze, I would have thought with almost 4000 people this would be nuts...very easy. Food was the best I have had on any ship. The specialty restaurants especially Cagney's was incredible. The free restaurants also had a large variety and the food was good and hot. Harvest Cay in Belize is not to be missed, you have to pay for drinks and food but prices are not any more expensive than getting it at any other port. I had a balcony room and spent many a night sitting and admiring the stars, bathroom shower was larger than most. All of the staff on board are friendly and nice. For a ship this size we never stood in line for anything. I had the drink package and if you drink more than 3 drinks a day it is well worth it. The cruise director Tyler was a hoot and kept the activities going. Do not hesitate. Book the Escape Read Less

ROOM 11772 (BAD GIRLS CLUB) The two ladies in room 11772 (next to our room) for the first 2 nights between 2am-3am would yell at other and swear up a storm with verbal threats to do harm to each other. The first night one girl was upset that the other girl brought a man to their room. This went on for 45mins. Both ladies sound intoxicated. The 2nd night they fought over why one girl wasn’t in love with her and not grateful that she paid for the room (again lots of verbal threats of physical harm). The 3rd night between 2am and 3am the girls physically fought on and off for 30mins. There were lots of slamming each other against the wall, slaps and punches thrown. It got much louder when they took it to their balcony (I thought one of them would throw the other overboard). I called front desk all three nights from the room phone and they did very little other than send housekeeping to check. I even went down to guest services to complain twice and they said that it’s proper protocol to send housekeeping before security. They said I couldn’t get a room move due to the ship being booked to full capacity (I never requested for a room move though). The girls continued to argue the other nights but no physical altercation. They were also not as loud as the first 3 nights. At this point I just gave up on guest services because they were of no assistance. DISCRIMINATION Myself and my family while onboard had a unfortunate situation in which we felt we experienced a bit of discrimination with hostess at Food Republic. She is a tall asian lady (I didn’t catch her name). She told my cousin that she had to go to her room and put on shorts because her summer dress was too short. After she put on shorts we sat down and noticed a caucasian women and her husband was seated (she was wearing an oversized sheer/see through blouse) in which you can clearly see her bikini top and bottom. They said nothing to her regarding her wardrobe. Another caucasian women with her kids was seated wearing a black summer dress that was approx 4 inches above her knees with a slit that went 4 inches up on her side and was not told to change. AFTER MIDNIGHT SHOW This show is amazing. I just wish that their were more black performers and shows on all cruise ships. Kudos to NCL for getting this show right. TEPPANYAKI HIBACHI GRILL Just WoW! Such an amazing experience. The customer service here was exceptional. The chef was interactive, fun and friendly. I've been to several hibachi grills but this was by far the best experience. Rowen C aka Mr. Washy was also there to assist us. He's such a joy to be around. MR. WASHY Rowen C. aka Mr. Washy was the most fun, friendly and memorable staff on board the NCL Escape. The energy he exudes is fun and mesmerizing. Many cruisers including myself had the pleasure to interact with him on multiple occasions. In all my years of cruising Rowen C deserves to become cruise director of his own ship. He's more entertaining and memorable than cruise director Tyler. If Rown C becomes cruise director of a NCL ship I would be glad give NCL cruise another try. Read Less
