The reason we picked this cruise was because of the itinerary and the overnight stay in St Petersburg, Russia. We had over 10 cruises in the past 2 years with different cruise lines and have been cruising with Royal Caribbean most of the time, so we thought it would be nice to try Regal Princess for this Baltic/Scandinavia trip. This was a family cruise with my husband, our 2 young children, my mom, and my aunt. However, we were very disappointed with Regal Princess. The ship layout was similar to Disney Dream, so there was no wow factors, and no high ceilings in the Dining Room. The ship décor was pretty outdated and tacky. The service and food were overrated. We were used to RCI's Junior Suite, but Regal Princess' mini suite was smaller than RCI's regular balcony room, with no walk-in closet and very little storage space! The balcony & bathroom were very tiny. When we arrived, we were shocked by how dirty our room was! There were dusts on the vanity table, coffee table, night stands, bathroom countertop, bathtub, glass shelves. There were hair and dirt in the drawers. We found leftover food and drinks from the previous passengers in the mini fridge. My mom and my aunt's Balcony room was even worse. It had only 1 chair, as it didn't even fit a sofa! The Medallion didn't work on the 1st day, and this Medallion is overrated as well. We preferred the traditional Key Card which we could carry in our wallets, instead of wearing the metal piece (Medallion) like a pet. The apps were a joke. We needed to download quite a few apps, one for pre-cruise check in (Ocean Ready) and a few others during On-Board.... And the apps were not even that great. We didn't understand why couldn't they put everything into one single app? The variety of food at the Horizon Buffet was nice. During meal times (even dinner time!) and Sea Days, it was very hard to find a table. If the buffet was crowded during dinner time, it told you that the food at the dining room was horrible. The breakfast buffet was the same every morning, and the selection was fantastic! I love the smoked salmon. Lunch and dinner consisted of traditional American staples, Asian, Indian, European, and theme cuisine. We were disappointed that the desserts were mostly Americanized (way too sweet) in this Baltic sailing. Many cakes were too sweet to a point that we could swallow. We miss our Royal Caribbean desserts, which was more European style with less sugar and more delicate. We did like the Afternoon tea, as the English scones were as good as those at InterContinental Hotel HK. Dining room service was ok. On Day 1, when we arrived Concerto Dining Room for Traditional Dining but found out our assigned table was occupied by another party. So, it turned out Regal Princess made a mistake. No big deal, they seated us at another table temporarily that evening. The head waitress was awesome. The assistant waiter was friendly at the beginning, but once he found that we were there for only one evening, his attitude changed immediately. From then on, he didn't want to serve us, so the head waitress needed to work super hard, including taking orders, bringing out dishes, and cleaning up. We felt bad for her, so we gave her some tip after dinner. The next evening, they re-assigned us to Allegro Dining Room for the traditional dining, and the waiters were great, thoughtful, friendly, and professional. The quality was the food wasn't to our standard. The fish dishes were always dry and overcooked. The steak quality was bad. The mussels were tough. Food was too salty most of the time. There was one time that my daughter's salmon has turned bad due to poor food handling. The only evening that was excellent was on the 2nd Formal Night, with delicious Escargots that resembles those at the 5-star hotel, lobsters that was fresh, and quality prime rib that was perfectly prepared. We like the Afternoon Tea time (3pm to 4pm) at Allegro Dining Room. However, we had a horrible incident on Day 10. We were going to meet up my aunt for afternoon tea. My aunt arrived the dining room first, and we were 10 min late because we got lost in Deck 6. My aunt asked for a table for 6, but the manager didn't let her go in because the rest of the party wasn't there yet. My aunt was 71 years old and just had radiation treatments for her breast cancer, so she was very tired all the time. In addition, she didn't have lunch that day and was starving by 3pm. So she asked the manager if she could have a small table and eat by herself first, as she was very hungry. But the manager still insisted no, and had her wait out there. Once we arrived, the manager was shocked that my husband, my kids, and I could speak English fluently (we are Asian-Americans). Then, his attitude changed completely, and was super sweet to us and treated us like VIP (What a jerk!)! Throughout the afternoon tea, we were not very happy with this manager for not respecting his wait staff and treating them like slaves by screaming at them and commanding them like slaves. The waiters and waitress were very efficient though. They were very nice to our two young children. The scones, pastries, and mini sandwiches were amazing. The service at International Cafe was a hit or miss. The crew member who served us was very nice, but the one who served my aunt was horrible. She mistreated my aunt just because my aunt spoke broken English. Sabatini's was disappointing. The dishes, including the complimentary bread sticks, were mostly deep fried at some point during the cooking process. This was not how Italian cuisine supposed to be. The seafood dish that I had was overcooked and tasteless. The menu of this Sabatini's on Regal Princess was totally different from the Sabatini's locations on Land. The Fitness Center was small, but served my needs. The machines were so close next to each other that I could smell the sweat of the man on the elliptical next to me. Shopping was very limited, as we were expecting more name brand shops such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Coach, Cartier, and so on. The kids' club was one of the best, with very attentive staff and fun games & activities. Our kids (7 and 8 years old) had a blast! They looked forward to Sea Days, because they wanted to go to the kids' club. However, other than that, there wasn't really anything for them to do while on this ship. The photography team was the best of all! All of them were very helpful and very good at their profession. The photo quality was the best out of all the cruises that we have had! We purchased the pre-cruise package deal at $199, which came with all print and digital copies. We took almost 300 photos in total! The service on the ship was not up to standard. The crew members seemed to be unhappy, comparing to RCI. We even witnessed how the supervisors yelled at the crew members and called them names (e.g. "You stupid!") in front of the passengers. The Internet service was slow and unstable, even at the ports. It made it very challenging for us to work and conduct our business transactions and bank transactions during the evenings on board. We missed the Royal Caribbean's VOOM, which was the fastest internet service at sea, even in Europe. The excursions were amazing, which made our trip unforgettable, despite of the poor service and food on the cruise ship. We signed up the Discovery Exclusive tour in St Petersburg, where we could tour the palaces during the before and after hours, in order to avoid the crowds. At Catherine Place, we had an exclusive tour of the garden and the palace at night (after the palace was closed to the public), followed by the orchestra and Royal Dance performance in the grand Reception Room. The ball room was even more splendid at night, and the dancers in costumer brought you back in time. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience which would last for a life time! Another thing that we did like about Princess Cruise is that it provided very informative and educational materials about all the ports and cities every evening. We wish that the other cruise lines could do the same thing too. In general, we loved our excursion tours offered by Princess Cruises (especially the Discovery Exclusive ones), but not the cruise ship itself. We didn't regret for sailing with Regal Princess, because we were all about trying different things (Hey, at least, we tried it!). However, we will definitely go back to Royal Caribbean, or try another cruise line, in the future, unless there is an itinerary that we liked very much and is offered by Princess Cruise only. My husbands dream vacation has always been to go to Alaska. We finally saved enough money to go. He is handicapped. We took a land & sea tour, May 14 – 26. It all started with the molded wheel being totally broken off when we arrived at our room at the Denali Lodge. It’s very hard to break them off. I did go to the front desk & the baggage department to report it & advise them their staff should be more careful when throwing luggage around. I also had to go to the front desk 4 times to get a new room card, as our door wouldn’t open. It was very hard for me to go back & forth with my back. They finally sent someone to fix the door. It took over 2 hours to get it resolved. We stayed at the Denali Lodge for 2 nights. We put out our tagged suitcases & wheelchair to be transported to our next hotel, the McKinley. Our luggage arrived but not our wheelchair. The manager was gracious enough to call the Denali. They told him our wheelchair was there and they would send it directly to the Cruise ship Royal Princess. The unacceptable nightmare began there. We had no problem boarding the ship. We never received our luggage until 11am the next day, no wheelchair! We find out that we were assigned to 3 rooms. Our luggage was found in one of the other 2 rooms. We checked with guest services every day. They did give us one of their wheelchairs, but I couldn’t push or maneuver it as I have had 2 back surgeries. My husband has a lightweight transport chair, which I can maneuver. I tried using it for the 1st excursion at Skagway. I couldn’t maneuver it, he even tried pushing me. We weren’t able to go ashore at Juneau because there was no shuttle. We did do a shore excursion at Ketchikan because a bus picked us up right at the ship. We were confined to only part of the ship due to our lack of a wheelchair that I could maneuver. We were at least fortunate enough to be close to the elevators. Luckily we had transport services at the airport for both of us. 11:30pm on the evening we returned home I received a phone call from the Golden Princess asking me where we were. He had our wheelchair. He said they didn’t return to port until June 1st. I emailed lost properties when were returned. Received a return that they have 2 weeks to respond. We had another trip booked for June 5 - 9. We had to borrow a scooter from a friend. Unfortunately it broke down on our 2nd day. Now we have the added expense of fixing their scooter. We were fortunate enough that we had brought 2 of our grandchildren along. They were able to push both of us in wheel chairs. I received a call while on our trip on June 8th, advising me that our wheelchair was being shipped via FedEx. We received it yesterday; June 12th. My husband has had 5 ventral hernia & 2 back surgeries. He has neuropathy in both his feet & lower legs. He also walks around the house with 2 canes. As I stated earlier I have had 2 back surgeries and am in need of another. I feel Princess Vacations could have been more sympathetic as they ruined our Alaska dream vacation. This Alaska vacation was a total disappointment & waste of our money. I feel everything that happened was totally unacceptable & avoidable. Read Less

However to be fair I never used the apps very much ,its just not convenient for me . The weather was great . The ports were very good but we never seemed to stay very long at them . We were in Mexico for about 10 hours . The use of tenders to get ashore although necessary was a pain . I did enjoy the comedian and the cover band . We did take two excursions one in Jamaica which was a tour of Islands wildlife. And one in Cozumel which was the sunset cruise .. All in all ok Read Less

Too many unattended children. Children running in halls, children swimming and drinking water in hot tubs. No parental supervision. Princess did not address the children running and being unattended in the hot tubs-sign posted "no children in the hot tubs." Luggage did not arrive to room until 3 hours after we left port. Luggage was being delivered to rooms at 7pm after we left port at 4pm. Food was very good. Buffet had great selections. Entertainment was great. Movies on Demand was awesome. The movies were available on your big screen TV in the cabin after it was shown on-board atone of many locations. Ship was clean and service in the buffet area was very good for drinks. We had a port issue at the Caymans. We had tenders at the South Port which is rarely used. Waiting for a tender the lines were long in the sun. Princess supplied cold water, a cold rag and umbrellas for the hot sun. Carnival Vista was also at the port and their passengers were not offered anything while waiting in the long line for the tender. Read Less

We have cruised many times before but this was our first cruise on a Princess ship. When we booked this cruise we asked for fixed dining for our evening meal. Once on board the ship we found our time for evening meal had changed yet again - this was changed twice in the UK - without notification - from 8.15pm to 7.15pm and then on arrival on the ship to 7.45pm again without notification. The service in the Allegro dining room was terrible - most nights well over 2 hours for a 3 course meal - too late for seats in the shows. The meals were not fine dining and the presentation on the plates was awful. Soup was sloshed around the side of the dish, which left marks on the table cloth and a meat pie in a pot was the same. The sea was not rough. Another day we had cold potatoes and rock hard vegetables - is this the norm on Princess ships? We never felt full after our evening meal. Then one evening one meal we chose off the menu was a beef tenderloin and asked for it to be well done. This arrived red raw and was sent back via our waiter. It had to be returned 3 times - could not eat it - felt ill - the Head waiter in white jacket was aware of the situation. What happened to formal night? We dressed up for dinner - others dressed in shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. We were given a time of 11pm to put our cases out on the last night - then this was changed to 10pm at the last minute - just before we went for dinner. This was not possible, as we were not back from our evening meal which took so long. We booked trips earlier and arrived on the ship to find that they had been changed with extra money added onto our bill - without any notification. 0ur original trip on home flight day was cancelled for some reason. We queried our bill and the extra money was deducted. We had to vacate our cabin at 8am so had to take the trip that had been allocated for us - without our knowledge - at an earlier time of 8.15am in the Concerto Restaurant for 9am coach on our last day, as we were not flying home until late evening and although the coach took us to the airport we still had 8 hours sitting about. We had a mini-suite which was good - no Kettle in the cabin but very clean - but by the time we got back from the safety meeting on our first day - our champagne was flat! Our cabin steward moved items around and some papers, maps etc., disappeared. We are tidy people. Some items were moved in the bathroom the day before we were leaving - obviously trying to clean up for next people! VERY DISAPPOINTING - NEVER AGAIN Read Less

We were just looking for a getaway (we live in Florida so weather not an issue). We had sailed on Princess before - and they had the best food of the "mainline" cruise companies - so that was our reason for picking the Regal Princess (and this part did not disappoint). We went all out and booked a full suite - and there, my friends, lies the problem. Very, very disappointed with Princess suite amenities - if we are going to pay almost $4000 for a one-week cruise, we expect to get amenities commensurate with that. First, the suite passenger venue (concierge lounge) wasn't worth going to - it was so small I would be embarrassed if I were Princess plus this is a pretty large ship and we were at the front and the lounge was as far aft as you can get and 3 decks up). Other than a one time minibar set up, we had to pay for everything: Every other ship we have been on over the past 4 years provides complimentary Wi-Fi to suite guests - but not Princess (150 complimentary minutes on one device - so either me or my wife was out of luck - so we didn't even bother). To me, the crowning insult was having to pay for a quiet spot on the upper decks. We both love to relax on a cruise so look for a quiet shady area to read, nap, etc. There aren't any such places on this ship unless you want to pay extra ($80/day for a cabana in the Retreat or a similar amount for a lounge chair in the Sanctuary). Our cabin was spacious - but the bedroom was probably 3 times the "living" area - seems to us they could have given you a little more room for when you are awake! Clearly Princess is trying to appeal to a younger audience - no quiet background music anywhere. And so much for their policy of not holding lounge chairs (supposedly in unoccupied for 30 minutes, the crew would remove belongings ha ha ha) I would go for a cup of coffee at 7:00 a.m. and most of the chairs already had stuff on them - but no people! And that goes for the minimal number "shady" chairs that were available. Enough - Princess is off our list!!! Read Less

Princess cruise was always our go to cruise and loved the Regal but they are trending in the wrong direction IMO. Cutbacks on every front - skimping and saving wherever they can. Entertainment was bad, same old and tired stuff - time to invest in new production shows !!! The comedian was the absolute worse ... just NOT funny at all ... embarrassing really. No live bands at the pool. They try and stick the solo steel drum guy everywhere as "LIVE" music - brutal after the first song. Staff on the ship look like they are for the most part all drawn out and at the end of their contract and just putting in time. This cruise was so bland and boring despite our efforts to try and spice it up. The only saving grace was the games shows we went to that were fun, funny and entertainment. Also, as corroborated by many, for some reason the cruise director Lexi just didn't really translate into a good cruise experience. Read Less

My family & I are easy-going people & we had fun despite the fact that this was the most unfriendly ship we have ever sailed on! The food was also average to below average & I am not that particular. The best place to eat was the grill on the ledo. The buffet & dining rooms were a disappointment as was the coffee shop. They did not notify us that 2 of the 4 excursions that we chose were sold out & failed to give us tickets to the other 2 until I went down & brought it to their attention. Also- beware of locals in Grand Cayman offering tours. We were offered a tour with 6 items & they only took us to three. When I asked them about seeing the dolphins they'd promised, they just kept saying NO DOLPHINS! One of the three things they took us to was to snorkel. We were told to hurry up because we only had 20 minutes to snorkel. I also had problems getting the correct photo from "Stingray City" that I paid $20 for. After they had me choose the photo I wanted out of about 8 that they took, they sent me another family's photo. When I emailed them back & told them, they said they were sorry & emailed me one of my family- but not one I chose & my one daughter's eyes were closed. Now they will not even respond to emails. The person on the local boat in charge of it is Mary Palacios . They promise a lot but deliver on very little. Anytime dining for 4 people required sitting and waiting 45-75 minutes the Symphony Dining room. We were discouraged from dining at Concerto because it seemed there were a lot of special events whenever we wanted to go. We liked that there was a library where we could borrow board games, pick up suduko puzzles and brain teasers as well as books. There were a lot of activities scheduled and we missed the dance lessons but it looked like everybody was having a lot of fun. We wished that the dance lessons would have continued through the end of the cruise. We did not attend any of the entertainment in the theater. The movies under the stars was a great idea because we could sit in the hot tub and watch the movie or just lay out on the lawns chairs and they provided blankets when it was cold. We watched the balancing act at the piazza and we really liked the piazza setting because it was some place you could walk into whenever you wanted just to see what was going on, have a cup of coffee or snack, etc. The only friendly face and the crew was our cabin steward. He always seemed surprised and somewhat nervous but at least he smiled! My teenage daughters signed up for the teen program and when we signed up we specifically asked if there was organized activities or if it was just come in and go out when you want and they said there was nothing organized. Unfortunately, although my daughters were excited to meet other teens, the 1st night they wanted to go at 9:30 to kind of slip in in casually and get to meet others without all the anxiety and pressure. What ended up happening was they got there in the middle of an ice breaker that the crew did not think to mention and they were mortified when to they had to pull up two extra chairs and sit down in front of everyone who was in a big circle. Once the icebreaker was over they left and never went back. I was going to insist they give it another try but the teen Beach House opened at 9:00 p.m. and usually by then we were winding down for the evening and the girls were tired and not interested in going. I am planning our next cruise during spring break, but I am booking with Carnival. Read Less

I selected Princess Regal because most reviews were good and the price of our balcony stateroom was fair for a Christmas cruise. This was my fourth cruise and my daughters first. I have cruised with Disney and Royal Caribbean prior and fully trusted this was going to be equivalent to them, NOT true! Embarking was just ok, felt like a “number” and felt rushed by the staff. Staff appeared unhappy and all had fake smiles, nothing seemed genuine and we certainly did feel welcomed. (Compared to Disney and R/C where we always felt appreciated and literally felt like royalty). Food was equivalent to school cafeteria, it all “looked” tasty however we had to take two plates to taste-test - it was pretty bad. Service was even worse, staff not friendly and we almost felt invisible on this cruise UNLESS they wanted to solicited you for an event. Was told prior to cruising that all cabins were equipped with Roku and Prime TV. (Told by Princess Cruise Lines 800 #) NOT true! Our tv did not work for any of the News programs. If you try to call Guest Services they never answer! Room service was good (must be a different kitchen) however menu is somewhat limited. Staterooms very small, as well as balcony. Nothing fancy and furnishings are worn and broken. Refrigerator was barely cool. Balcony table broken and beat. Anytime Dining was a joke! Long lines! We only experienced the Dining room one evening, food was less than stellar, tasted like Scwanns and pre cooked! Horrible! And I just could not get past how unhappy the staff was. I am sure this comes from the top, Princess must not treat their staff well! Disembarking went quickly however, again, the staff was NOT friendly! Old gentleman monitoring the escalator literally YELLED at my daughter! My daughter never wants to sail again. I will stick with R/C and Disney, I never thought I would be miserable on a newer and expensive cruise until now! Read Less

I booked this cruise with my family for Christmas and New Years thinking that this was going to be a cruise of a lifetime. I have previously sailed with Royal Caribbean and thought that this cruise would be equivalent. I was sadly mistaken. I was met at the airport and got to the cruise ship easily. The ground transportation staff transporting you to the ship was easily identified and waiting near baggage claim at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. After waiting for a bus to appear, we climbed on-board and went to the ship terminal without a hitch. Got to the port and the embarkation process was a hot mess. Because my flight got in late in the afternoon, I was in one of the last groups to get on the ship. The embarkation staff is rude and they don't have a handle on managing the crowd or flow of people that are checking in, and they have this little mean man that yells at you to hold on to the handrail on the escalator. There are several choke-points that will keep you waiting to get on board the ship. Their security staff seems to be unable to screen your carry-on bags because they are too busy checking their text messages. The ship while small, is beautiful and was beautifully decorated for the holidays. My cabin was okay, and the balcony seemed a bit tight. The sofa in my suite seemed a bit run-down. One negative was that there wasn’t an outlet by the bed, as there is only one outlet on the opposite side of the room on the desk. One other negative is that the outlet in the bathroom didn’t accept polarized plugs, thus forcing me to shave in the desk area. During the vast majority of my cruise, the live TVs in my cabin didn’t work. We called guest services, who insisted that the TVs worked. After escalation to the director of guest services, they sent a tech up to our room who said, “Yeah, your TV doesn’t work, and we know it. We’re trying to fix it, it’s a programming issue.” For my trouble, Princess generously gave me a $25 credit. (Please note the sarcasm. A better solution would have been to give me free WiFi.) One final thing that was really bothersome about my cruise was that I ordered water packages in advance, and I called Princess prior to my cruise to make sure that I would have my water upon boarding the ship, and they didn't give me the water that I paid for until day 5 of the trip. Our cabin attendant was good and very attentive. However, the rest of the staff seemed as if they could care less. Their attitudes seemed to vacillate between indifference to outright rude. The food at Sabatini’s was good. The food at the Crown Grill and main restaurant were uninspired and pedestrian. I had to send dishes back on several occasions. It seems like the chefs and cooks learned their culinary skills at Chipotle. Their overall cooking philosophy seems to be: “add more salt.” Most days, it seemed that the food in the Horizon Court was much better than the food in the Main Dining Room, and I found myself going to the Horizon Court after being disappointed in the Main Dining Room. Toward the end of the cruise, I just gave up on the Main Dining Room. Alfredo’s Pizza was decent. One thing that is really odd about the ship is the Crab Shack “Specialty Restaurant” which is simply a roped off area in the Horizon Court that you need reservations for. It is just weird. Also, it should be noted that if you have a drink package on the ship, you can't use it on Princess Cays, which is really obnoxious. The hot tubs seem to be small and always crowded. The fitness center was crowded in the mornings and you may have to wait for some of the equipment. The entertainment was uninspired and at times was awful. The spa was very nice. Overall, there are better cruise options out there. Read Less

My family and I have been on approx 30 cruises. We have status with RCL (Preferred), Norwegian and Carnival. We had only heard positive things about Princess so decided to on a 7 day Princess Cruise leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale. The cruise was paid for in early November 2018 for 3 Balcony Cabins. One day before traveling to FLL for the cruise, Princess (working with partner cancelled one of our paid for cabins. This action taken after one of our cruisers was unable to join the rest of the family. In no way was there any communication to Princess that the other sailors wanted to cancel any of the 3 paid for reservations. After some haggling with Princess via Planner, they provided us with an Inside Cabin...all the way on the other side of the ship...and charged us the same price as what we had paid for the Balcony? Not only that, but as a Military Veteran of 11 years, I was informed in writing by Planner that each of the 3 cabins would be provided with $100 spending. Upon check in,, none of the 3 cabins was provided with anything. After working with Princess Customer Service Manager on the Regal, they finally decided to provide my cabin only with the $100 credit. Note that I provided a copy of my DD214 to her and to Partner and to Princess...all to no avail. There are plenty other horror stories to share about our adventure on the Regal, but that would be for another topic...also note that Carnival owns Princess, Holland and other cruise lines. So if planning a Christmas Cruise and stopping at the Caymans as example, where a Tender Boat is required, plan on waiting 3+ hours to get off the ship, and worse, each of the cruise lines only had 1-2 Tenders running at a time meaning your return back to the ship meant spending at least another 2+ hours in line...it was so bad that our ship was sailing and we still had over 1000 people waiting to be tendered back to our ship. The anger from the passengers was incredible...the ship offered everyone a glass of wine as a means of saying sorry for the inconvenience. By far the worst cruise line of the 4 i've been on. I would never recommend Princess to anyone...I will limit my cruising to Royal Caribbean and Norwegian going forward. Lesson learned! Read Less

We have cruised as a family on 5+ cruises now and this is one of the worst we have been on. Norwegian and Celebrity are MUCH better than Princess for about the same cost. The food, entertainment, ports--everything was better with them. Princess needs to stop cutting corners and amp up their customer service. Cruise staples of soft serve ice cream and pizza were bad. If you like breakfast food, bring your own because they have no idea what good breakfast food is (and as we all know, it's hard to mess up breakfast). The ports were okay, but the tender service in the Grand Caymans was a NIGHTMARE. The tender I was on I waited 15 minutes for, but we were sitting out in rocky waves for an hour while everyone was throwing up. It was a disaster. On the way back the tender line was wrapped around itself with people waiting. All of the other cruise lines in port had minuscule lines compared to ours. While we were waiting, we had the "pleasure" of an extremist evangelical preacher screaming at us all in line. Ironically, he got on our tender as he was a passenger on our ship, yet Princess staff did not diffuse the situation. This was our first and last cruise on Princess. Read Less

Recommend by someone I was quite disappointed from the start. Waiting for the fun to start and it never did. The food was average and the service was nothing to write home about. The room was small and we are glad we went for the balcony. The entertainment was none existent and the one show we went to was no better that a high school musical. It was their first show and you could tell. The promotional video shows more but this was not on this cruise. Didn’t agree with the extras especially the gratuity. A few complimentary drinks would have been appealing not charging for every pop and juice. And the drinks package at $7 each per day was not the way to go. The whole cruise was revolved around the promotion of the jewelry store. What a con to get you into their store. Disappointed with the undersized room and the phone booth sized shower. Doubt if I will cruise again. $7000 by the time we were done. Come back Disney all is forgiven. Read Less

I was on this trip with a casino group. I am disabled and during embarkation there was no one to assist with the carryon bags or to help find the stateroom. Throughout the cruise, ship employees only interacted with the you for the purpose of selling something to you. They have someone convince you that shoe inserts will help with you back and hip problems. They sell you a $200 pair of inserts and make an appointment for 72 hours later to make sure they are working. When you go back and tell them that because of your neuropathy they are just too painful to use, you are told you need to wear them more so your feet get used to them. Then you say you have been wearing them at all times except sleeping you are told to wear less. They then say that the box the inserts are in tell you you cannot return them so you end up stuck with junk that cost you $200! There are just a bunch of cons on this ship trying to sell you junk at crazy prices. A picture taken of you at dinner the first night they want to sell for $25! The one from your cell phone is better. They also will not take care to protect you from illness or make right when you find plastic in your soup or eggshells in your eggs. My roommate had Norovirus and I asked that they tell her she should stay in her room so as not to infect anyone else on the ship. She was allowed to continue going to the buffet, dining room, casino and any part of ship she desired. I feel they did not quarantined was because she was spending much in the casino so was allowed to continue throughout the ship until the day before disembarkation. Many could have gone home and became sick due to this. Princess is not interested in or concerned for anything except the dollars they can get from the passengers. Beware of what you eat and touch. I will say that when you are selecting dining, ask where Bennie Soriano and Jeffrey Mazadarano will be the waiters. Those guys are professional, knowledgeable, helpful, intelligent and very entertaining. They are superb waiters that are the best part of the cruise. Read Less

Overall ok and like most cruises still very relaxing, but very disappointed with Princess over other lines like Celebrity. Small, very small staterooms with low ceilings and very, very poor food choices and quality. Went to steakhouse, and the steak could not be eaten as it was so tough and fatty. Main dining room also was mostly poor, with the hamburger probably the best option for lunch at least. Some nights you could not eat what they served. Maybe because they were using up all the old food on the transitional cruise. However did have nice music in the lounges, which we enjoyed most evenings. The boat is newer and adequate overall and had nice swimming pools. Movies under the Stars was ok, but most of the movies were very old and not what you wanted to see. I would not given a choice go on Princess again, except if it was a much better value than other lines. Read Less

The crew needs a vacation. Really surprised at how many crew would not make eye contact or smile. Had to track down waitstaff to get a Coke every time. Ship is nice but unhappy or tired crew is palpable and left us feeling less satisfied than previous cruises. Food was so-so. Internet connection better than previous Princess Cruises, and was actually usable and functional. Room was clean and attended to promptly. Captain was good at communicating about sea conditions, since we were coming out off NYC, where there was a storm. Please be aware that transfers from airport to ship are poorly organized. Princess will tell you one thing but the people who actually pick you up don’t talk with the Princess phone staff and vice versa. We were almost left behind despite waiting exactly where we were told to wait. It was a comedy of errors and very upsetting. Read Less

I start this review as a seasoned cruiser. 9 to be exact.Carnival and Royal Caribbean. First cruise on Princess. Never again. The ship is beautiful. Well maintained and clean. The crew (for the most part) was kind, helpful and caring. But thats it. We only had 2 hot meals and that was in the specialty restaurants. The buffet food was always, with out exception cool at best. Same with the dining rooms. The coffee was excellent tasting , but I could count on one hand how many HOT cups I had. it was barely warm enough to drink. The food quality was great! and a lot of choices. But it was always cold. The toast felt like it was made hours before hand and the butter was always frozen. You had to wait for it to thaw to use it. Even the hot soups were lukewarm. You never had to worry about getting burned. Lobster night was great. Until you got the food. Cold lobster is not my favorite. I paid extra for an upgrade to a "Mini-Suite" . Compared to Carnival and Royal, the regular balcony rooms were bigger than my "Mini-Suite" They put a full size table on the small balcony. We had to move it to even look over the railing. With the 2 chairs, foot stool and full size table you couldnt move on the balcony. I got a Mini-suite on Carnival once so I know what to expect from a suite. This a NOT a suite. Oh, and the toilet smelled like a port-a-pottie. Although very clean, it was a terrible smell every time you lift the seat. And it wasnt just the room. It was the public bathrooms also. It had to be the water. The theater was very small. Just over 600 seats. There are 3000 people on board. We got there at 7pm for an 8pm show and almost didnt get seats. One single floor for the theater. And if you didnt carry around the itinerary they gave you in your room, you would have no way of knowing what was going on around the ship. No announcements, no signs posted, No additional itineraries anywhere around the ship. We missed so much because we were never informed of what was going on. And everything is not even listed in the itinerary. We tendered 2 ports. What a nightmare. They used lifeboats. I've tendered many many ports and they always had dedicated tenders. I guess I will need to check on this next time before booking a cruise with tender ports. In closing, If I was never on a cruise before, I probably would not know the difference. But if you have ever cruised Carnival or Royal Caribbean before, DO NOT take Princess. They don't measure up. Read Less

I agree with previous reviewer. There is almost nothing to do. Arrive at shows thirty minutes early to find them filled to capacity. The food is dreadful. The buffet should be ashamed. They try to wow you with assortment. The quality and freshness is so lacking I thought it would be a funny reality show. Having chefs walk around. The dining rooms are an improvement but do not live up to the Princess reputation. We did miss a port. The Captain was very apologetic and sincere. I did believe he had our safety at heart. I would give him a five for at least helping me survive the worst cruise experience of my life I have sailed with Carnival and disliked it. Royal Caribbean is worlds above with food, service, entertainment. The staff on these ships staff greater then 9 months and it shows. They are polite but look drained. Shape up Princess or you will lose in the future. Only so much line dancing and trivia one human can do. Read Less

Well after finishing the survey which took almost an hour, I figured I'd complete this review, although I doubt it will be shared. After being on the Ruby Princess in Alaska, I was ready for another Princess cruise and saw that the NE/Canada trip was inviting as I haven't see fall foliage in a long time. I can't tell you how disappointing this cruise was, regardless of missing one of the best ports (Bar Harbour), which was for good reason due to weather, we had a day at sea, which I dislike immensely. Looking forward to getting off the ship in Saint John's only proved to be a bigger disappointment. I took a 2 hour bus tour and although the bus driver was great, this little town is lacking a lot and it does not even invite people to go explore. I for one think that this port of call should be withdrawn as it was a waste of time. The way the dining rooms are set up you have to use the elevator to go to the 7th floor, go to the end of the ship (I could never figure out which end!) and then take the elevator to the 6th floor to go to dinner. WHAT??? how ridiculous and difficult especially when traveling with people in wheel chairs or scooters. The entertainment left a lot to be desired, which was not the case on the Ruby Princess. The first night was awful and many people left before the show was over. The daily activities were lame, but I'm not big into these types of things anyway. Thank goodness I was traveling with awesome family and friends, that's what made this cruise bearable. I will cruise again, but most like not on the Princess lines. It cost too much to be this disappointed. Read Less

Entertainment and Activities: Boring Sea Days. Limited entertainments and activities on the cruise. Don't take this ship in Fall/Winter time, as the entire deck is dead and swimming pool and jacuzzi water too cold to use. Night shows are not interesting. The singers were mediocre. The comedian was not funny (we had to leave his 2nd show 10 minutes after the show started cuz his jokes were not funny at all. The weak laugh from some audiences was more like fake laugh). This is a rare experience where we ended up watching movies in our stateroom (watched 3 movies in a 7 days cruise) b/c there's not much activities to do on the ship, and we could have just stayed home to do that. FOOD: It's okay but not amazing. The dining and buffet met the standards on a cruise ship for the price. SHORE EXCURSIONS: DO NOT purchase the shore excursion from the cruise b/c the markup is soooooo high. We paid $109 each for an shore excursion which includes a 20-min bus ride to two historical sites with self-guided tour, which we later found out the ticket price to the two sites only cost $29. The bus ride was not worth $80 difference. It was a total rip-off! Read Less

First cruise of this length. The allure of an Atlantic crossing got our attention. 5 days at sea; relaxation, entertainment, pampering, gourmet dining, interacting with others. We're not regular Princess Patrons, but the itinerary through Scandinavia, Scotland and Ireland was very appealing. That proved to be a pipe-dream, for a whole lot of reasons that you'll see below. Embarkation was simple and efficient, but we were very bothered with the the handling of passports. We are told to NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, SURRENDER YOUR PASSPORT. Before we knew it, the passports were gone and a coat-check-like slip was in our hands. This has never happened to us on any other cruise. The passports were delivered back to us on the way to Scotland by a stateroom attendant, and recollected after an onboard customs check. There is a whole lot of wrong with this process. We get the passenger convenience thing, but find a different way. Don't if cruise length or itinerary was a factor, but it made for a very geriatric passenger base. As one passenger but it to us: "Princess is becoming a cruise line for retired people, their parents and grandparents." Evening activities were most definitely catering to that crowd, leaving the ship largely devoid of people after the show, as the multitudes ascended to their state rooms. Just not a lot to do in the later evening. That is especially a negative with 5 full days at see on the Atlantic crossing. Similarly, and again not knowing if that passenger demographic was a factor or not, the crew seemed much less happy than on any other cruise or cruise line we have been on. Service was professional, but not exactly friendly. We were very surprised at the lack of attention given to passenger cleanliness around the food venues, especially the buffet. With no crew at the door pushing people to wash and sanitize, seeing people cough, sneeze and then handle food service items was disgusting. That said, Food was excellent, and the Chef's table experience was one of the best meals of any cruise. We noticed up-selling to be a major theme on this cruise, and it was tiresome. Our philosophy is charge me a fair and full price and most of all, PAY YOUR STAFF. Service is not something extra, it is an integral part of the vacation. Wait, kitchen and stateroom staff are as integral to a cruise line's business as the bridge crew. Would you expect them to live on tips? The stops at Aarhus, Denmark and Kristiansand, Norway were curious. Both cute villages in their own right, but little to do except walk around the port. Felt like they were added to the itinerary to check a box for number of ports. We did have an incident at port in Kristiansand, Norway. When the ship was disconnected from shore-power (since ships in Norway cannot idle and spew exhaust -- yay Norway!), The Regal computers shut down. Big oops on someone's side for sure. But a ship's computers being down means the keys don't work, there is no point of sale equipment for bars, and most of all, they can't confirm that everyone is on board (or should not be!). Princess did a manual count, which required everyone to be room bound for more than a couple of hours. As a result, we missed the tide and wound up majorly late into Greenock. This made Greenock and Glasgow a write-off. Most folk's excursion plans were cancelled, and with a scant few hours, looking for something to do. Don't get me wrong, stuff like this happens. The apologies however were too frequent and too empty. No sort of compensation was offered. Com'on princess, man-up. Guess the experience soured us to long cruises. Maybe better luck on other itineraries or cruise lines? Read Less

Quite a character and a bundle of energy The casino slot machines were brutal but that's a normal thing for any cruises I have been on. We were rushed through the specialty dining . we ordered a glass of wine each and as soon as the drink arrived they took our order. The soup arrived within seconds and when we were finished the soup our steaks arrived - felt like I was at McDonald's Considering I've had over 40 cruises I didn't feel very special lol - especially after they confiscated and destroyed my 4 beer purchased at the final port just prior to 5 sea days that I really didn't want.. not happy and for the first time did not purchase a future cruise credit Read Less

Picked this cruise for the Baltic ports. Definitely enjoyed most of the ports except Helsinki and the fact Princess was the only ship to Park an hour away from Stockholm, wasting much of everyone's day do they can save money. Celebrity had a ship that followed us to most ports and docked right in town. I would recommend that ship, better entertainment too. I have sailed on many cruise lines and while this was a beautiful ship it definitely was the most boring ever with the exception of the Beatles tribute band. The definately need to replace the entertainment director immediately . Every band and musician on the ship where made to play what I call sleepy time music and we were bored to tears. The main shows were so bad I had to walk out after 10 minutes. The main dining room was hit n miss with mediocre service and just ok food, so only went twice then started going to the buffet. The food overall wasn't anything memorable. I actually had better food on a carnival cruise I took years ago. Room was nice and well serviced, room service worked out fine. Staff was nice and international cafe useful for late night snacks went to a few trivia events at princess live that was fun. Would I cruise this ship for 11 days again? No way, ports are wonderful but sea days and evenings are beyond boring. It's a shame really as they have some nice lounges and talented musicians . I also hope the phase out formal nights for more casual nights as other cruise lines are doing. It's difficult to drag so much luggage around the world and airlines are getting so restrictive on luggage weights and amounts. Read Less

This was my 14th cruise with Princess, however it may be my last. Princess I always felt provided excellent quality at a reasonable price, but alas !! That is no longer the case. My last 2 cruises have been extremely disappointing both on the Regal, and Royal. The food is really bad, and unless you pay for the Sanctuary you can’t get away for a little peace and quiet. Ship is over crowded, anytime dining is a farce, dining room can’t hold everybody at once so unless you get there early you will have to wait. For some reason they only open one dining room for breakfast and that’s the Alegro which is the most difficult to get to. The food court is very poor, and people are pushing and so rude that I just gave up. Room service is pathetic poor choices. Entertainment was reasonable but not the best I have seen. Staff in dining room were sometimes so pushed that you basically get your food thrown on the table. The couch in our cabin smelled of body odor, the carpets were not clean, the drapes had stains. Sorry Princess but next cruise will most definitely be with some other cruise line. Read Less
