We were a bit worried because of bad reviews, but thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. Food excellent, cabins spacious and exceptionally clean. Entertainment good and varied. Good enjoyable trips, not always the best organised but they are in some countries which are only just getting into the tours business. Please note the yellow fever jab certificate was not required for any of these excursions. Weather was unusually windy, and some people were sea sick. The Dream handled the weather very well. Belize Ruins - Good guide, thanks Elvis. Although we didn't see much wildlife, the guide gave us lots of information. You are able to climb the ruins, which you can't at some sites. Food included, rice and chicken, enjoyable.. A bit of a diesel smell on the river boat which spoiled it a little. Roatan - Mahogany bay. Brilliant free beach. Fortunately we were the only cruise ship here so there was lots of chairs. Just a short stroll from port. No bites either. Costa Maya - Good guide again. Saw the howler monkeys. Climbed the ruins. Large site. packed lunch given which was quite good. Cozumel - Good port to look around yourself. Easily accessible. Montego Bay - We did Dunns river falls which was very enjoyable and fun. 40 usd for DVD of the day a bit steep but a nice momento. Santa Marta - Went to a coffee plantation, which is a new trip and we found it really different to the usual trips. We had a police escort too as traffic is really bad. We went high into the mountains, roads were very bumpy. Had snacks with the hosts which was well presented and very informative. Loved it.. Cartagena - You will need to get a taxi to the town 20usd each way. Old town picturesque. Large castle. Small nature park at the port with lots of wildlife. Panama - Do not stay in Colon, it's very run down. book a trip. We went to the Panama Canal, it was interesting but a very long day. Puerto Limon - A very good time at the Veragua Rainforest, saw monkeys and sloths. lots of information about wildlife and flora. Guide very knowledgeable one of our highlights. . It was very hot on all these trips, so take water, suntan lotion, and some insect repellent in jungle and rainforest. Although I didn't see any mosquitos.   Read Less

While the holiday over all was very good we were very disappointed with the Dream which is now looking very old & tired. Toilets in the public areas were blocked every day & the deck area around the pool on deck 11 needed a really good clean. Thompson claim to recognise returning customers but we did not get any recognition & at times some of the bar staff were rude ignoring you trying to attract their attention. Apparently there has been a change of staff & I can only say it was not for the better. There were many problems with the airport, transfers & getting luggage to cabins which other reviewers have discussed. The £50 per person from Thompson went some way to acknowledging the problem but did not sort it out for departure which was still a bit of a nightmare. Booked a late checkout cabin only to return to have a shower & change finding the cabin door wide open with our property on full view for who ever chose to walk in thankfully valuables were in the safe. The bed had been split into singles & made up & the bathroom was in a right mess with a maintenance engineer working in the roof space. When we eventually got to have a shower we found there was no hot water! Complained to reception who said there would be no charge for the late checkout but got home to find payment still taken......thanks Thompson! This was our third cruse on the Dream but sadly it will be our last. This is not a platinum standard ship & not worth the price paid. Read Less

My husband and I decided to book a cruise for my 60th birthday and our wedding anniversary as a special treat!!! It was a NIGHTMARE rather than a DREAM!!! First of all our luggage went missing (15 people) for 3 days so that meant we couldn't go to the "Captains Night". We bought new clothes for this which were all in our "lost cases". On the ship they charged us for toothbrushes and toothpaste which if we were in a Hotel we would get a complimentary pack. There was 1 shop on the ship which we had to buy clothes from and the prices were ridiculous. We received £50 each to last 3 days. A t-shirt cost £100!! Everyone was so upset. It was our First Cruise and will be our last. We have all written to Thomsons Head Office and received the same reply (they were sorry but couldn't help us). This is NOT acceptable as we paid a lot of money for this so called Cruise!! Maybe it was the Airlines fault for the luggage going missing but the Thomson Dream was a horrible ship. It was like "Butlins" not what we imagined a Cruise Ship to be. We had to que for meals (even in the restaurant which wasn't self-service). The swimming-pool was filthy!! Our holiday was ruined!!!! NEVER would we book through Thomsons AGAIN and we have made sure our family and friends wont book through them either. Read Less

We sailed yet again on the Dream on the 14th June with an inside cabin number 5111. We have had this cabin before so knew what to expect. It lacks storage space for clothes etc. The crew again were exceptional with special mentions to our waiter Norman, our wine waiter Richard and our cabin steward Christina. The ports of call were fine as was the weather, we did one organised trip from Livorno to Lucca which was was 'reliving an earlier visit to Tuscany'. As regular cruisers with Thomson we knew what to expect and again were not disappointed. We ate in Sirens during the day but prefer the more formal the Orion in the evening. The entertainent tries to cope with most tastes and we particularly enjoyed the shows in the Broadway showlounge. The upgrade to Platinum cruise does not seem much of a change and what has happened to the availability of ice cream in the Lido and Sirens. We left the Dream to spend a week in Ca'n Picafort and have already booked to sail on the Dream next June but we like Thomson Cruises so much we are also booked to sail on the Celebration and the Spirit as satisfied customers.   Read Less

Tbh I often check reviews, but rarely write them myself as I always worry what I like others will not. However I was intrigued to see what others thought of the same cruise as I was on as this was our first cruise. I wanted to write a review as other reviews had sent me into panic before our cruise thinking the dream was horrible. I was surprised by the bad reviews the dream recieved from others so I wanted to give a differing perspective. Flight on time, thomson staff pleasant and helpful. Straight forward booking onto the ship. Cabin was larger than I expected, but it thought I was going to be living in a show box for two weeks. Three of us in one cabin and still plenary roon. Slightly disappointed at the plain white bedding. Silly I know but I do think the orange throw in the pictures really brightens the room. It was clean and basic, but more than we expected for the minimal time we were spending in the cabin. Cannot fault our steward Ronaldo - he kept the place spotless And friendly. Ship itself agin exceeded our expectations, clean and nicely decorated. Plenary choice f bar areas. Although it was frustrating at busy times waiting on a drink when people would walk in and get drinks before us especially as when I did go to the bar to queue I was asked to sit down, but that really was minor. Red wine quality was great - not one hangover which was a bonus. Ate mostly in them mdr-food quality was superior to any four star hotel we have stayed in. You literally could eat all day if you wanted. I especially loved a wee scone in the afternoon. Pool areas clean. We personally had no problems finding beds except int afternoons after trips. We expected this and always did get a seat or a bed in the shade, just not in prime position. Staff came and took drinks orders at the pool also. Shows I found were really good, with over a two week period two that were horrific. However I put this down to taste and know others would love an Andrew Lloyd's and clasical type spectacular. My particular fav was the queen show. Tbh we did our own thing and did not get involved int other entertainment. In my opinion this is why thomson is so good as you can get involved in as much or as little as you like. Now for the bad........ Several customers believe it or not. We are younger and have never had such ageism on any holiday. The height of this was an older gent with a stick marching up to us on the top deck of the pool and accusing us of stealing his two euro paper towels and bed. Bearing in mind thomson provide the towels and I'm much more accustomed to heat magazine than the mirror. He then proceeded to shout and wave his stick very aggressively. For my partner it was funny but for me I was ragin as I would never treat anyone like this no matter what their age. Although it did make my dad when it was pointed out to his wife they were actually on the wrong side of the ship and his paper and towels were exactly where he left them. Again another passenger with a small child I saw being treated horrifically by another passenger. Her little one was on reign hand walking about and he felt it his duty to huff and rudely tell ur it was not a crèche. We all pay the same price no one has more or less right to be on holiday although some people may think so. Overall it was an amazing holiday with some great ports. I most likely will do it again but the attitude of several passengers have gave me mixed opinion which really is a shame as overall it's a great ship with lovely staff   Read Less

We sailed on the Thomson Dream from Palma on the 10/05/14 on the treasures of the Mediterranean although she is an old lady of the sea we were pleasantly surprised as to how good she actually is. Our cabin was on deck 7 inside and was clean and quite spacious the food on board was of a good standard and plenty for everyone I do sometimes wonder if some people complain just for the sake of it. We did not find a problem with sun beds as some people have expressed on other reviews. However it do’s appear that Thomson have cut back on the number of crew as we found unlike previous cruises we had to wait quite a while before anyone came to take our drinks order and a lot of times we went to the bar area to get our own which they then would bring to us this more so around the Lido pool area But as usual the crew could not be faulted Now to the trips that Thomson run in Sardinia we did our own thing in Sorrento we went to Vesuvius and Pompeii the climb to the top of the volcano is not for anyone with walking difficulties but the view from the top is well worth the climb Pompeii was well worth the visit but you really need a good day to see it all. From Civitavecchia we did the Rome all day trip this involves a lot of walking but you do get to see a lot of Rome and it is easy walking however you do not get a meal with this trip and be warned Rome is very expensive and for what you pay we thought it was way overpriced also as this trip runs on a Wednesday when you get to the Vatican it was very crowded and it was a bit of a fiasco getting out of Rome Lastly the disembarkation at Palma to get the coaches to our hotel was a complete shambles and farce Thomson really need to get their act together on this but all in all a good cruise.
