I wanted a smaller ship as I was travelling on my own. Having read previous reviews, most of which were positive, I decided to book it. The whole of the holiday was perfect from start to finish. I had a single cabin (1023) which was roomy and clean with modern decor. Plenty of drawers and wardrobe space. The entertainment, food, service and cleanliness of the ship was faultless. Comments with regard to ship being old are certainly true but it did not deter from the holiday itself. All the bars, dining rooms and communal areas were modern and tastefully decorated. I have travelled many times on several cruise lines in the past and I can honestly say, that I was not disappointed in any of the experiences on the Marella Dream. I would like to say a special thank you to the member of staff that certainly made my holiday memorable. A young 24 year old - Calum James Smith - with the title of social host. He was wonderful with shall I say the elderly ladies of the ship. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing holiday. Read Less

We haven’t cruised before and wanted to celebrate our anniversary so we went for a low end weeks cruise as a taster with Marella Dream, with no exaggeration from the airport going to the airport coming home it was fantastic, boarding the ship on the first night we were really impressed with the friendly staff and condition of the ship, every day after just got better and better with super entertainment, friendly staff, top restaurant food, we met lots of new friends and thought the whole ship had a great atmosphere, we would have a great day on shore then always look forward to getting back on board. We especially liked the Orion restaurant, tides bar and waters edge, all very fancy and drinks are lovely, we didn’t need to upgrade to premium from all inclusive. Our cabin was larger and nicer than expected and very comfortable indeed. We assumed we were booking a inferior cruise maybe being a bit snobby but we couldn’t be more wrong it was exceptional value for money and a top experience. How this cruise would compare to p&o or Royal Caribbean I don’t know but cannot wait to find out as there’s no going back from this. Read Less

We've been on at least fifteen cruises with a range of companies including RC, P&O, Celebrity X to name but a few but this was our first cruise on the Marella Dream. We chose this cruise as we wanted a week of mild weather without the need for a ten hour flight to the Caribbean so we opted for the colorful canaries and Morocco leaving on January 5th 2019. I have to stay we were slightly apprehensive having read some of the reviews but we were so pleasantly surprised that I feel the need to write a review, something I rarely do. The ship is spotless, the cabins and storage areas are bigger than what you find in most of the larger ships these days. The food is excellent always hot and varied with a choice of restaurants, there's a variety of enjoyable entertainment, something for everyone really. But what stands out more than anything is the excellent staff, nothing is too much trouble, always friendly and smiling. Yes, the ship is not as big or as glamorous as some of the newer ships these days but that said it lacks in nothing, it's absolutely lovely inside and has a homely feel to it which in itself can make all the difference to your holiday. If you're looking for a very nice relaxing cruise where you'll get excellent value for your money, do consider the Marella Dream, you wont be disappointed! However if you want the whistles and bells that come with the larger new ships and are happy to pay much more for that, the Marella Dream may not be for you, look elsewhere. Read Less

First cruise ( apart from an educational cruise on the Uganda in 1968!) Loved every aspect of it. Ship was a little dated but not a detraction in any way. All crew fantastic and couldn't do more to make your holiday a great experience. Food was excellent, tasty and varied and super choice of restaurants. Minimal queuing for tables even at bisy times. Able to choose your won table or sharing. Even had lobster and steak on a couple of the menus. Though food in the waiter service Lido similar to the buffets, was beautifully presented. All-inclusive had extensive choice of drinks and cocktails, all branded. Waiter service very thorough. Cabin roomy and cleaned to a high standard. Turn down service with nightly chocoltae on the pillow. Brilliant entertainment, specially the shows. Amazing value for money ! Those who find fault with the Marella Dream probably find fault in everything. Read Less

The ship is a lovely place to holiday on. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. How anyone could find fault with this ship they must be used to 5* plus. The entertainment crew were professional and the singer/comedian was very entertaining. The all you can eat buffet restaurants had lots of choices and even a chief cooking Chinese fresh for you. The all inclusive drinks package included in our price even included Prosecco. The swimming pool was freezing, it has a roof which covers over in bad weather. The jacuzzi was lovely and warm. There was just a lack of sunbeds on our day at sea which was to be expected, we had quizzes in the afternoons around the pool. There didn't seem to be any children until our ship picked up the night before we came off because it was the week before Christmas. Had a wonderful time on this ship. Read Less

Read so many negative comments about the boat. Don't believe everything you read. Crew and staff 10/10 could not fault anyone Food 10/10 there was always something you could choose from. There was plenty of other restaurants you could easily have eaten in but we chose to eat in the minstrel restaurant or the lido buffet. Ship and decor 9)10 Yes it's old but such a lovely boat kept spotless clean and in good order. Entertainment . Broadway Theatre So professionally put together. The shows easily compared to any London stage show. Transfer excellent with no problems. Always giving excellent advise prior to landing. My one and only quibble would be. There's no espresso coffee available unless you wanted to pay a small charge. Which was still cheaper than Costa. Overall my wife and myself really enjoyed the cruise. In no way were we disappointed with anything. I can only reiterate. Don't believe anything negative until you have cruised on the Marella Dream Read Less

We had never been to Tenerife before so decided to have a week in a hotel ion Puerta de la Cruz and then do a week cruising the Canaries and Madeira. The Hotel Ctalonia Las Vegas was really lovely. The rooms were spotless and the staff were all nice especially Lydia. In the restaurant the staff were so accomodating. When they found out that I was diabetic they came up with wonderful desserts = a real treat. It made me feel really special. We enjoyed it so much that we are going back again this year!!. It was about an hour to the cruise terminal and when there everything was really quick and smoothly executed. We went down to our cabin and the luggage was already there1 That's service fr yoy. The bed was made up to a double but we asked for it to be two singles, much more room. Our steward was Gun Gun and nothing was too much trouble for him. The cabin was always spotless, couldn't fault him. The ship was just a little tired but spotlessly clean. There were plenty of lounges, bars and a show theatre. The shows were good, really professional. The main restaurant -Orion was fantastic. The food and service was impeccable. we ate there every night and the occasional lunch time too. The self service restaurant was good. There was always a good selection of hot and cold dishes which were very nice. We had an all inclusive wine package and the house wines were okay. We also bought a 5 bottle wine package which at £72 was reasonable. The choices were excellent. Organised shore excursions aren't really our thing so in all the ports we did our own thing and really enjoyed ourselves. All in all a fantastic holiday. Read Less

This was out 3rd time on the Dream and again we had a thoroughly great time. The captain and crew are extremely friendly and helpful.....nothing is to much trouble from having our cabin changed from double to twin beds,to 2 incidents with poorly passengers dealt with within minutes and bar staff remembering your special tipple. The ship maybe one of the older in the fleet but is one of one most friendliest I have been on. Food options in the Orion and both buffets restaurants offered appetizing and varied menus.Entertainment in the Broadway theatre was superb with great singers dancers and colourful costumes. Other bars had different entertainment according to your tastes. Our outside cabin on deck 7 was kept spotless and had plenty of space. Ports of call around the canaries is great at this time of year especially the island of la gomera which was a new destination for us....a gorgeous tiny island with traditional dancers in the town centre to greet us Would I do a repeat? This was our first cruise and picked a smaller ship to start with to see if we liked it Firstly the staff on board were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you , nothing was too much trouble. We had a inside cabin on deck 7 right at the back of the ship it was small but adequate as we weren’t going to be spending much time in it. The housekeeping staff were brilliant and cleaned the room twice a day x Food x plenty of choice lots of different areas to eat buffet style or an amazing sit down served restaurant which was excellent we ate there every evening The shows were excellent too I loved them we went every night and then we went to the waterfront late bar which had great singers on too All in all there was something for everyone on board and the people we met were so friendly x plenty of off ship excursions too we went to see pisa which was amazing x yes the ship is an older ship but was clean an comfortable x I read some reviews before we sailed and glad I didn’t listen as some people I think want to pay less money and expect all singing and dancing x if you expect 5 star you will have to pay more x Read Less
