We wanted 3 days in St Petersburg to see as much art, architecture and history as possible. This was the only cruise that offered it. Our friends had taken Celebrity cruises before, and in particular, some friends had taken this Baltic Sea cruise last year, and they all highly recommended this cruise. Service on Celebrity ship was impeccable. This being our first cruise on a ship this large (Silhouette carries 2800 passengers) we had some concerns about congestion and service. But we were pleasantly surprised by the high level of service, personal attention, efficient exit from and entry into ship at every port, excellent food, etc. The pool area was a bit crowded occasionally, mainly because some people SLEPT on the lounge chairs (why they could no sleep in their staterooms, I will never know). My wife has restricted diet, and the restaurant staff did their best to accommodate her needs. The buffet had quite a bit of the type of food she eats (vegan), and the restaurant tried to make what she requested (although the chef sent a small bowl of mixed spices on the side, rather than cooking the spices with the vegetables - as is done in East Indian cooking). We met many many wonderful people from all over the world. (We also saw some small groups monopolizing some services, but this was tolerable). We did not get a chance to experience all the varied entertainment that was available on board. Shore excursions (with Celebrity) were very enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic, comfortable, enjoyable, memorable experience. Read Less

We always choose a cruise for the itinerary and this one had a great one. Also we had sailed on Celebrity's sister ship the Solstice last year and loved the ship. We find the service especially good with Celebrity, all staff are friendly and obviously well trained. The ship is beautiful as well as understated, with pleasing decor. On Celebrity's we also find the cabins comfortable and we'll equipped. This time we booked concierge class and the concierge was very helpful. Food is also tasty, we'll prepared, varied and as usual the service is excellent. As the itinerary is the main feature for us, we tend not to take advantage of the on board activities, games, casino, spa or bars, so we cannot comment on them. Evening entertainment was varied and interesting, although we found 2 out of 3 of their production numbers to be a little far out for our taste with odd choreography and unfamiliar song choices. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable cruise. Read Less

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Celebrity, the "Silhouette," the Baltic Sea countries, etc. The ship is laid out very well, the food, especially in the Specialty Restaurants, is fantastic, the crew (kudos to the activities staff) appear to enjoy their jobs, and the ports of call were wonderful. We did all of our tours on our own or with local Tour Guides. Highlights in each port include: Stockholm-Vasa and ABBA Museums, Old Town and Changing of the Guard; Helsinki-Walking Tour with a Local; St Petersburg 3 Day Tour-SPB-Tours is one class act!; Estonia-Walking Tour with a Local; Berlin-SPB-Tours (discount because of St. Petersburg tour); Copenhagen-Tivoli Gardens; Amsterdam-Private Tour w/ Tom's Travel Tours-Edam Cheese, Windmills. We met fantastic people from our Roll Call, who we are now fortunate to call our friends! Celebrity does a fantastic job overall, and I don't know if I can wait until our next cruise in March, 2018! The ship was elegant and cabins (veranda) well appointed and designed. The food was excellent. In my opinion there is no reason to pay extra for the specialty dining. Entertainment enjoyable. This is a port intensive cruise with only two days at sea, but that is why we chose this itinerary. We did not use the spa, pools, gym, casino, etc., but did enjoy some of the lounges and sail-aways from the outdoor bar. We did not use the ship excursions. For St. Petersburg we used TJ tours (excellent 3 day tour with only 12 person per van) and for Berlin (from Warmunde port) six of us had a private car/tour with Jeremy Minsberg (excellent). For the other ports we used Rick Steves Baltics Cruise book and toured on our own. This is very doable. We arrived in Stockholm two days before boarding and stayed in Amsterdam for two days since we had to be out of our cabin by 8:00 a.m. the day we arrived in Amsterdam. That, unfortunately, is a rather abrupt end to a very nice cruise. Read Less

Everything was very good with the exception of the quality of food in main dining room. We cruised on the Celebrity Millinium 13 years ago and the dining room food was excellent. We found it to be comparable to a dinner in a fine restaurant. Sadly, this is not the case now. There was a strong push to make reservations in the specialty restaurants for an added $80-&100 extra per couple per night. If it hadn't been for the fact we enjoyed our table mates and the high quality of service in the main dining room, we would have paid extra for better food. The food was not even comparable to dinner at "Denny's". Portions were very small ( you could order a second plate if you wanted but no one usually wanted to because it was generally not too good.) Sort of hit or miss but mostly miss. We noticed the quality of food increased a bit after the specialty restaurants became fully booked. The lasted formal nite had the best food of the cruise. Next time we cruise on Celebrity, we might try to upgrade to Aqua Class if we can find a good deal because they have their own dining room included in the price and we heard from cruise mates that the food was better. As for the highly pushed beverage packages, we found unless you drink 6 or more drinks per day per person or want high tier alcohol, or fancy cocktails, it was not a good deal. We generally had a gin and tonic cocktail before our 8:30 dinner seating and had the wine specials featured on the nighty menu. You will get 2 pours each from the sommelier. If he asks if you want more, then you are charged for an additional glass. Wine generally cost us a total of $20-$40 per couple per night depending on whether or not we had asked for more wine beyond the 2 pours each. You could also purchase a bottle for about $40 for inexpensive bottles. Celebrity allows you to bring aboard 2 bottles of wine upon embarkation only so we bought 2 bottles from the Duty Free shop and enjoyed drinks on our veranda. (Don't forget your corkscrew!) We loved our 3 days in St. Petersburg and booked the 3 day package tour from Alla Tours. It had a max size of 16 per van and it was less expensive than the cruise tour. Alla was able to shift around the order of stops to avoid long lines. The Alla tour was excellent and you really need the 3 days to see everything. Most of the rest of the Baltic ports were easily done using "hop on hop off" bus tours which usually came right to the docks. Using these tours plus a good guide book (I highly recommend Rick Steves Baltic Cruise Port Tour Guide.) was adequate and low cost. The people that did the Berlin day trip as opposed to local exploring, were disappointed. 6 hours of traveling and 3 hours in Berlin was not worth it they said. Service all through the ship was top notch. Entertainment wasn't nearly as good as 13 yrs ago but it ranged from just ok to very good depending on the night. Mixed bag. Read Less

HiIghly recommend both Celebrity and this cruise we especially enjoyed Tallin and St. Petersburg. While we took the ship provided excursion to Tallin, which was excellent, friends of our utilized Hop-on/Hop-of and seemed to have seen much of the same sites. After speaking to our friends, unless there is a specific reason to do so, I don't think we will utilize shore excursions in the future but will utilize the Hop-o/Hop-off system in the future. We followed their, our fiends, suggestion to use Hop-on/Hop-off in both Amsterdam and Copenhagen. At first we were concerned about getting back to the ship but this concern was soon elayed when we realized that these buses and barges looped and would always take us back to the ship. We would take one complete loop noting the sites we would like to see and then repeat the loop Hopping off at the sites we noted and hopping back on the next bus when we were ready to go to the next site . . . . a really great, economically way to tour. We can't praise the crew, especially the wait staff in the main dining room. We found the meals in the main dining room to be excellent and while we did dine in one of the specialty restaurants we could see no reason why you would want to dine anywhere other than the main dining room except that you would want to be showy. Great cruise. The ports were all terrific. Amsterdam was a great place to begin The food and entertainment exceeded our expectations. The staff was accommodating and friendly. We dined in three specialty restaurants: Tuscan, The Porch (Seafood) and The Lawn Club and all were fantastic and worth the up charge. The only negative was the Internet. Very pricey and sometimes extremely slow - not usable. St. Petersburg was our highlight. Two nights - three days. Exhausting but glad we had the three days to tour. We love Celebrity but they have to solve their Internet problem. It is too bad that they can do so much right but can't see the need for affordable and function Internet. Great guest presenters, especially Jim Kennedy, former NASA director. All the cities made great stops. We really could have used another sea day after 3 intense days in St. Petersburg and one in Helsinki. As luck would have it, we were delayed getting to Stockholm by 10 hours due to weather, so it was like an extra sea day Read Less

We are active seniors and very frequent Celebrity cruisers, normally cruising three to four times each year. We love Celebrity and the Silhouette does not disappoint. This was our second Silhouette sailing, the "President's Cruise," which we found even bette than the first. The ship was in perfect condition with every area spotlessly clean and attractive. There always were attendants in every restroom and our cabin attendants, too, were excellent. The cabin was in tip-top shape. Service in every department was excellent and every member of the crew with whom we came in contact was attentive and friendly. We were unable to reach one port due to a storm and the Captain kept us informed with frequent updates. The dining was, as always, excellent. We sailed in Aqua Class and ate breakfast and dinners in Blu with impeccable service and delicious food. The maitre d' in Blu was impressive as he observed everything and ensured that all was perfect. It was one of the best-managed Blu restaurants we have experienced. All servers and the sommelier were always accessible. It was clear that each and every one enjoyed what they were doing, which was reflected in their service. Throughout the ship, the staff went out of their way to ensure that all was perfect, and it was. I do love Celebrity! Read Less

Friends were already going and we decided to give cruising ago and joined them. We loved the whole experience but there were a couple of things that could have been better. The ship was lovely and even though there were so many people on board there were always areas of solitude. The main dining room menu was very limited and the food was not always very good - we choose to go to the Oceanview cafe instead some nights. The service was excellent and all the staff were helpful and cheerful. The cabin 6101 was extemely comfortable but very noisy when coming into port due to the platform opening which was at 03.00 one morning which woke us up with a start! I will not be booking a forward cabin next time. The entertainment was fine and short so it fitted around dinner and drinks. Copenhagen and Rostock were lovely. Tallinn was very busy but interesting but I should have done more research before going as we missed some highlights as the maps we had were not great. We did these 3 places independently with no problems. We booked Guide Guru for our 3 days in St Petersburg and they were great and we learnt so much.We booked a private tour for the 4 of us as one of our group has a mobility scooter and the guides went out of their way to accommodate his needs. We did not get off the ship at Helsinki as it was very wet and then we were delayed going through the Archipelagoes and did not arrive until 19.00 in Stockholm so only did a Celebrity coach tour on the morning of disembarkation to delay the wait at the airport. The airport is very limited so take a good book!! As I searched all the reviews as a first time cruiser I will admit to being a smoker and can reassure any other 1st timers that there are areas to go that are kept clean and are comfortable - if it is not too windy!!! I came home feeling totally relaxed and looking to where to go on our next cruise! Read Less
