Excellence is subjective but, to this cruiser, there’s no area where Silhouette did not earn her title! Ship was super clean and easy to navigate, even with my mobility issues. Service, above and beyond my expectations! (First experience in concierge class and it was wonderful). Thoroughly enjoyed the lecture series on Titanic and Hollywood stars! Found the speakers, entertaining, knowledgeable and informative! Evening entertainment was fine, especially the comedian and silent disco. Food was superb! Visited Murano, Porch, LePetite Chef, Tuscan and, my personal fave Lawn Club Grill. Casual atmosphere and AMAZING food! Lamb chops cooked to perfection! Oceanview Cafe provided outstanding array of breakfasts and lunches! Great service, entertainment, fabulous weather and great interaction between crew and passengers! Our concierge stateroom was clean, well appointed, roomy with more than ample storage spaces. I was glad I remembered my collapsing bins for the overhead cupboards because they make the space much more functional. (Thanks to CC for the tip!). Love, love , the pillow menu. Body pillow made reading much more enjoyable ! Great service, outstanding food and plenty of space for “me time”. Who could ask for more? Read Less

We chose this cruise because my husband wanted to go back to the Southern Caribbean (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). This was our second time on the Silhouette. Embarkation went very smoothly. The staff is amazing. Very friendly! We had a great cabin, the first time with a balcony. We were disappointed in the food, and the entertainment. We felt the food on Royal Caribbean was better with a better mix of choices. The Celebrity singers and dancers were great, they really put their heart and soul into their shows. We thought they were better than the other acts that were brought on the ship. For us, there doesn't seem to be much to do, which for some people, is exactly what they want. We want more activities that interest us. We are 66 and 69. We may consider another Celebrity cruise but it would probably be on another ship. We much prefer the larger ships of RC. Read Less

Love this 9 night cruise !! We booked this cruise through BJ’s because of the extra OBC and the Celebrity perks given on Black Friday-November 24, 2018. We traveled with 2 adult relatives who also booked this deal and they picked the room right next to ours on deck 9. First time in Concierge Class. Very happy with our balcony cabin. Sancho brought us “delectable delights” every afternoon that were quite enjoyable. Grand Curvee Dining Room - EXCELLENT FOOD AND EXCELLENT SELECTION. This is the best MDR food of all cruises we have taken. We had dessert every night too. Waiter Igusti Wiganata was excellent and we loved every dinner he recommended. Asst. Waiter Bibek was very helpful. The selection of wines was excellent thanks to Dusko. We did not eat at any specialty restaurant this cruise. Cafe al Bacio had excellent fresh baked goods every day including their cookies. We attended all the 9pm shows in the Silhouette Theatre. Most very good especially Uptown, Miguel Washington and Ashlie Amber. Cosmopolitan show was terrible-tried to take pop songs and add an international flair. 4 ports were all fun. We had been to 3 of them previously so we tried different excursions and they were good. Weather was sunny and warm every day. Played 2 trivia games in the Sky Lounge every day...wish the bar at that location was open during trivia though. Capt. Peppas made daily announcements every morning at 10am. I like to hear them. We would love to travel on this ship again !! Read Less

The ship is in grat shape. Don't believe any reviews that say otherwise. Our cabin was as expected. We only cruise Celebrity after we have been on most other iines. Dining was great. Even the noon crowd at the buffet was not as bad as it looked. Always found a table. Wait staff excellent and friendly. We are Floridians so the Caribbean is not as exciting as other foreign cruises. We went to be on the ship and get away. Embarkment very quick. Disembarkment not so good. There were 5 ships in port and not enough customs agents. Get Global Entry and look for that short line. We used anytime seating for our dining. Check in about 1/2 hour before you want to eat. Take the beeper/pager with you to a bar. We liked the Ensemble for pre dinner. on deck 5. The beeper will call you. Worked grat. Ate in Tuscan Grill and Murano. Excellent. DON'T pay full price. Ask you dining room waiter if they can get you a discount. They can book you. Try the Lawn Club. We have eaten there before and lots of meat! We will go again, soon! Read Less

Great value for cruise also itinerary was great and liked the idea I had 9 days and somewhat a break in between before island hopping. Past experience with service with Celebrity usually A+. Classy feel mostly mature adult crowd. The food on buffet was plentiful well prepared and well organized. Again service was outstanding at the buffet as well. Was very surprised with the quality of their production shows. They were all very talented and very entertaining and I was very surprised by this. The acrobatic entertainment was extraordinary. The talent they brought on board was also pretty good for the most part. No juggling but comedians and performers that did a good job. This to was a nice change to get away from the usual. Warning not many kids and a mature crowd for the most part. But after 15 cruises was ready for this and really enjoyed cruise. The casino, karaoke, silent dancing and the service along with easy navigation and getting around ship all worked out for my wife & I. Read Less

Wanted to visit the Dutch "ABCs" Did resort for a day passes in Aruba and Curacao and sailing/snorkeling cruise in Bonaire. The underwater marine life in Bonaire is incredible. Bring a twenty dollar underwater camera! Also thrilled to visit, pet, and feed sting rays in Grand Cayman again! She's a lovely ship with a devoted crew. She's clean as a whistle and the crew is friendly and provides excellent service. The food has somewhat degraded over the years but still very good in "Blu". Ship shows some signs of wear but due for refurb in 2020. The main theatre is worst with sagging chairs and threadbare carpeting. Hanging overhead window gaskets in aquaspa pool tacky. Most of the ship is meticulously maintained however. Sorry the cabanas have taken over the pool area too. Overall I'd give the Silhouette 4 out of 5 stars and will enjoy sailing again after the refurb. Read Less

When we booked this cruise, I searched high and low for reviews of Celebrity cruises with kids under the age of 10. Since I didn't find much, I thought I would share our experience of cruising with two boys, ages 8 and 9. We booked this cruise the week before departure and didn't know much about the Celebrity cruise line. In the past, we had traveled on a Royal Caribbean ship, which was very child and family friendly. The demographic of Celebrity is definitely older, with many retirees and seasoned cruisers on board. On our ship, we only had 20 kids (out of 2,000 passengers). Overall, we LOVED this cruise and since we had so few kids on board our boys had a wonderful experience in the Fun Factory kids club with lots of personal attention. The kids club staff were all very professional and highly trained. While the boys loved playing X box, they equally enjoyed all the activities (camp out, bingo, arts & crafts, cupcake decorating, scavenger hunt). A big THANK YOU to Ma'Bel, Lilia, Dalia, Bon-bon, Lulia, Jelena and Eli! Our kids also made lots of friends on board since it was easier to get to know other children with a smaller group on board. Our experience in the dining room was also flawless. Being selective eaters, our kids asked for chicken fingers (an off-the-menu item) and had this awaiting them every night. Our waiters, Wiganata and Bibek, seemed to anticipate our every need and the food was amazing. We did run into a serious housekeeping issue, which we reported to Guest Relations and were very pleased with their response and attempt to rectify the situation. We spent a lot of time pool side (one deep and one shallow pool) and were pleased with the amount of shade available. While it did get busy and loud mid-day, we always got our swims in either early or later in the day with no crowds We were very pleasantly surprised by what an easy and fun family experience it was to cruise with Celebrity, Since our kids couldn't wait to go back to the kids club, my husband and I also got lots of time to relax and read! I've attached an outline of some of the activities offered by the Fun Factory kids club. Read Less

Sailed out of Fort Lauderdale (1st time) and what a breeze. Embarkation was smooth and concierge class and above is the only way to go. Disembarkation was just as smooth. Lounge with coffee/juice and pastries was available on the ship while we waited for our time to disembark. The customs system at the port is smooth (picture taken) which eliminates the long line ups to be interviewed by custom officials. The ship was clean but a little outdated. We understand it is due for an overhaul...new carpet, room color, etc. Will make it much better. They need to understand that no one used the grass area. Great for publicity but not practical. Could make additional seating for guests on the top back deck (bar area). Cabanas were used by 1 couple on the whole trip. I think over priced and another item that could be eliminated. Dining: we have learned that it is not worth eating at the main dining area. We found the same food at the cafeteria and more relaxed and less crowded. The cafeteria food is bland but seasoning is available everywhere. Understand that everyone has different tastes, it is better to be bland and season your food (ie salt/pepper) to your liking. They did have Ox tail in the cafeteria that was exceptional. We (and others) requested to the chef to have it served again. Low and behold, 2 days later there it was (not something they usually do). The chef even made a point to let us know when it would be available. Nice touch.Specialty dining is hit and miss. Sushi on 5 was great. Fresh and appetizing. The Porch , not so much. Without improvements, it could go. Over priced, small protions and the food was not that fresh or tasty. Lobster bisque was the best part of the meal. The seafood tower was very disappointing. Entertainment: probably the least attractive item on the ship. Again, thru past sailings, we found the entertainment to be average at best. Don't expect Jersey Boys, Cats, Seinfeld or David Copperfield. Usually home grown and again average at best. Casino: Very nicely laid out. Staff was amazing. Very talkative, not pushy and that goes for servers to dealers to management...Joseph, Amy, Sol, Lou, Diedra, Hania, Charlene, and yes, you too Kyle. I know I missed some names, my apologies. Celebrity needs to loosen up the slots ! They need to know that any winnings on average just get put back into the machines. Probably the worse payouts of all our cruises. We have only cruised Celebrity and will continue to do so, but we are hoping the refurbishment and maybe some other changes will keep them at the top. Time will tell. Read Less

We have sailed on 5 Celebrity cruises, Equinox, Eclipse twice on Reflection and first time on Silhouette. We love Celebrity for the low key, kick back relaxing atmosphere. we are 55 and 62 years old. So not young and not ancient. Celebrity really does treat guest with respect. (except maybe Guest Relations, they need to work on this) We choose Celebrity mainly for the duration and ports. plus the bang for the buck is awesome with the perks they offer. Getting on the ship is amazing fast and well organized, we always fly the red eyes. And arrive at port around 10am and are checked in and on the boat by 11ish. Getting off this time was a breeze. with the face recognition they do we just walk out once we found out cases. Amazing. This time we did an excursion on Grenada, Ultimate Sea, Sun and Fun Cruise . Well worth the money for sure. Snorkel at the underwater sculptor park and another area, then a wonderful lunch on Calypso Island, which is a rock formation with a restaurant at the top. It was amazing. St Lucia we booked an outside vendor Ambrose tours to Joulise Beach. Would not recommend at all. Not worth the cost at all. Sugar Beach is amazing on the resort side of the dock, the Public side is a grimy rocky beach. But you are able to go over to the resort side for sand and swimming. Public side did have snorkeling area. Next time we will probably just taxi it to Rodney Bay or Pegeon Island. I think Celebrity should think about removing Dominica from its Itinerary. We had stopped there on a previous trip and was not thrilled at stopping there again. I only got off the ship to walk through the vendors and back on again. The Ship is looking a little old but I understand it will be going into drydock next January. Can't wait to see it, as we booked next years on Silhouette again. We love Barbados and always just taxi over to Harbor Lights and have a good beach day. St. Martin we loved in the past because we would go over to Orient bay, but after the hurricane we now just beach day it usualy outside Kokonuts which is closed now but still have access to Chairs and umbrella we negotiate price for that and bucket of beer. We booked late so we were given a cabin on the 6th deck with the life boats. not great but it did ok for us. On board Dinning was good. We tried Quisine Le Petit Chef for the first time. It was fun but would not do it again. Lawn Club Grill is amazing. did that one twice. Main Dinning room we actually only ate there twice. Not for any fault of theirs but because after a few buckets of beer on the beaches we just relaxed and ate at the Buffet. Which is nice and chill. Variety is good, something for every one. Entertainment was alright. Not to impressed with the first production show cant even remember the name.. Second production Pearl was good. Some of the other shows did not interest us, did even bother going in. Not for us, but could be great for others. Read Less

Post cruise thoughts. We booked this cruise because we loved the Celebrity Equinox and were told this is the sister ship and exactly the same. It is mostly the same but some important differences. No bar in the back of the ship on deck 14. A underutilized Master Celler wine area and just not the service level we expected. While we enjoyed our cruise I was disappointed with Celebrity in many ways. Mostly with the entertainment. Being a Musician I am probably more critical of the music and shows than most would be. And I must say that the quality of all the musicians was excellent. However I thought most of the music in the lounges was inappropriate for the age of the crowd and there was not enough of it. Even the PA music was hip hop, pop and even rap. Really? Did they not look at the age of the crowd? Only Ocean 5 and the Silhouette orchestra met my taste. I know it's different strokes for different folks and there were passengers from many different countries, but BR4 was playing mostly slow Latin beats and seemed to have a repetoire of about 20 songs. Listing them as a dance band was ludicrous when you saw very few people dancing to their music. Again they are fine musicians but wrong for the crowd which had to average 65 years of age. Also they looked pretty bored and like some others, playing for their own amusement and satisfaction. Angie Hernandez soloist was very good, in the Ensemble for listening. The same for the string duo. But I didn't go on a cruise to sit and listen. The string duo was actually putting me to sleep. I know many like that but I want to party. Dallas Bridge duo were building their background music with what is known as a looper. In effect they were creating backing tracks by recording and multi layering song parts over one another until it was sufficient for them to play and sing to. This takes a lot of talent and expertise but I really didn't want to listen to 4 to 5 minutes of creating their backing track for a 3 minute song. After 1 or 2 songs it became tedious and boring for the listener. Basically in the evening there were 3 places to hear music, Ensemble, Sky, Grand Foyer. They did not run simultaneously. Many nights we had no place to go to dance. Only Sky lounge was large enough to accommodate a crowd, During the sea day there was the pool and maybe deck 15 occasionally. Basically 1 soloist, 2 duos and 2 dance bands for 2500 people in 3 locations at separate times for 12 nights. Huh? for As for the shows, I thought most were amateurish and corny. Only "Uptown" blew away most people. They are one of the best acts I've seen anywhere. The comedian Dan ???? on our last night was also very good. After the first 3 shows we basically stopped going. The dining room food to me was a 7 or 8 out of 10. My table mates rated it lower. In my opinion the specialty restaurants were way over priced. We did try Q-sine when it had a sale, but the lobster tail was tiny and tasteless and the filet mignon was the same as well as dry. The projected chef was a clever idea we enjoyed. Dining room service was excellent as were the bar servers. My room attendant was new and not very good though she tried hard. Many days our room was not made up until after 3 and every night my bed was short-sheeted. My wife cut her foot on broken glass in our cabins carpet. I sensed a real cut back on employees. This was my 18th cruise and it ranked there as well. I guess I remember the old days at Celebrity when they were a notch above the rest. I remember when waiters used to carry your buffet tray to your table; The kitchen staff used to parade around the Dining room with the baked Alaska and Cherries Jubilee: Specialty Restaurants were $15 to $25; etc. etc. Still as I said up front, we enjoyed our vacation and will cruise again. Last year we cruised Equinox and loved it, and we are scheduled for Equinox next April. Maybe this was just a Silhouette problem. I should say that I find the size and layout of the ocean view room to be about the best we've seen. But I used to lean towards Celebrity. No more. I will go where the best deals are. Maybe it's time to try one of the Mega ships. Read Less
