Food and facilities were generally excellent. Terraza was a bit hit and miss - excellent the first time and not so good the second time. Sushi Restaurant was great - first timer for sushi and I loved it.. Stars Supper Club has the potential to be excellent (great music and ambiance) but food wasn't quite up to scratch. Stars has a tapas/small plate menu, so each morsel has to be perfect and they really weren't. The Grill has excellent steak and shrimp. The main Restaurant was great every night. Wine selections could not have been better - if we didn't like the daily selection we asked for others and got them at no extra charge. Service was excellent in some areas but not so good in others. Passengers want personal service from crew and now that they have to use iPads in the dining areas for food orders the personal service and interaction has been removed. I think the iPads affected the level of service. Use the iPads away from the customer - After you have taken the order. Read Less

Since it was my first time in a cruiser, I find it difficult to make a comparison. Our butler Dorothy and our room service Hilda were perfect. They did their best to make us comfortable and to meet our wishes. Other crew members were also friendly and easy to talk to. Two of the 8 restaurants onboard did not meet our expectations and we went only once in each. The other ones were excellent. In one of them we had live music with a very good singer. She performed a tasteful repertoire. Unfortunately, I attended only one of the night shows and it was not what I expected. The singer had a good voice but used a lot of playback, which I found disappointing. When he played with the Silversea Trio, then it was good. All in all, I hope to take one or more cruises with Silversea in the near future! Read Less

I have just returned from 10 days of the most relaxing holiday on the Spirit. Nothing is too much trouble for the crew. The ship did not feel crowded at any time and we met very interesting people. The ship is in great condition and the suites are very clean and a good size. The different pillow options are perfect as DH cannot sleep without a hard pillow, and the bed is a good size. I loved the Bulgari shampoo, conditioner and body wash they provide. The hairdryer had good power I have long hair and it was absolutely fine. The fact that the mini bar is stocked with whatever you want I had champagne and DH wanted G&T which they made sure fresh lime and lemon slices were in the fridge daily. The food choice is outstanding, we booked all the restaurants and enjoyed them all. Room service is 24 hours and also included. The bar staff will make any cocktail you request, there is a cocktail menu but my favourites were not on the list but it was no bother they just made them – and they are all included in the price. Internet for an hour for each passenger was free per day, but there are packages that can be purchased for faster or longer periods. The only negative is that I had to come home, but we certainly will return Read Less

Having not sailed Silver Seas for some years it was with some interest we ventured back having sailed with Regent the past four times over the past year. For space this ship really is hard to beat almost like a private sailing on occasions. A downside is being advised what to wear in the evenings ,I much prefer the Regent and Seabourn "country club casual" which in addition to being much more comfortable saves on packing space. The other down side is the charging for a couple of restaurants,on premium ships like this it should not be the case and unlike Regent unless you are hot off the blocks and make reservation months in advance even paying you wont get in as the regulars seem to book in even if they want to eat in them or not. The supper club idea really dosen't work and thought should be given as to what this could be turned into ,clearly dosen't work as it was empty most of the time with very few repeat visits. The transportation in most ports is wonderful and the agents used on this sailing all top class. The entertainment was all a bit samey with singers on every night nearly although doing different themes,no band to sing to taped soundtracks ,just one of my personal hates ,hire musicians!! Food in the main was fine ,again in my view a notch below Regent ,although the anytime dining menu was available in the dining room they don't really remind you of that. Special dishes can be requested normally 24hour before which is nice and they aim to please. On this cruise so much time was spent in port that sea watching happened rarely ! Sliver Spiirt is a fine ship offering a fine vacation ,but my personal favourite line is still Regent by a small measure. Read Less

We are long term fans of Silversea and wanted a relaxing cruise with plenty of days at sea. The service was excellent form the butler and room attendant to the restaurant crew, bar crew and executive staff. This was our first cruise on the Spirit having sailed on the Wind, the Cloud, and the Shadow and we did not know what to expect as far as a larger ship. We were very pleased that there was no feeling of crowded areas. There was plenty of room to spread out in any of the public rooms and pool area. The ship was practically a modern art museum with works by Miro, Dali, Chagall, Erte, and many others which added to the overall cruise experience. The entertainment was quite good for this type of cruise. There were three lecturers. Two of them were execllent. The third did lectures on baseball which we did not attend. Read Less

I chose the ship based on the itinerary and past experience with Silver Sea. The food and service on board were fantastic. There is a great variety of restaurants and activities. The entertainers were exceptional. I didn't care for the violinist or flautist. It would have been nicer to have a comedian or magician or something along those lines. Most of the people slept through the concert. The Silver Sea entertainers are fantastic. Stefano the singer should be on Broadway. His voice is amazing. The DJ did an outstanding job of keeping the dancing going late in the Panorama Lounge. I enjoyed dining in La Terrazza very much. More time in Lisbon would have been good and because of weather we missed Horta. We did enjoy an overnight in Punta Delgada which was nice for all of us. The staff is very conscientious and they go out of their way to remember your preferences. It's amazing they meet so many people but still remember faces from past cruises. Read Less

I have been on Silver Spirit several times and always throughly enjoyed the experience however on this 18 night cruise from Buenos Aries to Bridgetown it was awful. Lots of people were sick and confined to cabins , no one was making sure that people sanitized their hands before going into the restaurants and no tanoy announcements to warn people. Food was appalling , I was traveling solo but met up with several lovely couples but apart from the Italian restaurant everything was always cold , even the fries ..hot rocks steak was lovely but baked potato cold and when I complained to an officer he said " it is what it is " This Cruise is not cheap and people expect 5 star treatment but we certainly didn't get it on this ship sadly and all the people that I had made friends with said the same and would never book with Silversea again , we couldn't wait to get off in Barbados and have a decent meal at the hotel . Cabin was also very tired looking and stains on the carpet I had a 33 night cruise booked on this ship for later in the year so I wrote in to customer services to complain as I didn't want to spend 33 nights eating cold or luke warm food and they did apologies and said that they would call the ship to make sure that the food was hot ?? Why should they have to do that ..no compensation offered so I cancelled my future cruise and booked Crystal ! Sadly " it's not what it was " Read Less

The experience on the Silver Spirit completely exceeded my expectations. The service is impeccable, the food and drink superb, the fellow passengers interesting, and the ship itself is a beauty! The artwork on board was totally unexpected and much appreciated. Having never been on a cruise before, I really have no comparison, but venture a guess that I chose one of the best. I thought that the idea of having a butler sounded a bit pretentious; however, it really helps when you are attended by one person during the entire cruise. He quickly came to understand what we liked and he made sure we always had a chilled bottle of Champagne in our suite, and he served our coffee every morning at precisely the time selected. Jazz venue, Stars, was wonderful. All of the restaurants were excellent. Tip - reserve early for Le Champagne and Seishin. Hot Rock grill and La Terraza were our favorites, but just barely! Panorama (outside area) and Observation Lounge were quiet and lovely. It is hard coming back to the real world after having been pampered like this for 10 days! Can't wait to take another cruise with SilverSea. Highly recommended! Read Less

Wow, what a fantastic adventure! Silver Spirit is a beautiful ship, crew is attentive, incredibly service oriented. The destinations were amazing, a blend of nature adventure and opportunities to sample local culture and events. Silver Sea's all inclusive approach makes everything smooth, no awkward moments when meeting with friends or meeting new friends about who gets the tab. Wine enthusiasts, foodies and just plain adventuresome folks with means should consider Silver Seas. One complaint, smoking!!! Beware that half the pool deck, the pool bar, the outside dining at La Terrazza and outside lounge at Panorama are all smoking areas. Though only a very small percentage of the guests were smokers (perhaps 20 guests of 550?), a few dedicated chain smokers made life miserable in the above venues. Given that smoking is increasingly a habit most reflective of older, less affluent folks, why does Silver Sea dedicate so much space to a shrinking demographic? In retrospect, a wonderful adventure, we've booked 2 more Silver Seas cruises and are loyal customers. Read Less

Simply delightful. Traveled solo. With work, it's easier for us to get away individually. As a solo traveler, I never felt "solo". This cruise has gentlemen hosts that make u feel welcome and genuinely interested in u having a great time. There were usually about ten solo travelers that would meet for drinks and dinner nightly. Made some new bff's. We r on the last 2 days of this cruise and it will b sad to say goodbye. Butler service... not your butler from the Caribbean.. need a chap stick with spf 5 minutes before your tour? He will get it for you. Along with the usual food and beverage service, they will do your running around for you, which I appreciated. Need a ticket to the sold out tour? What a surprise! He got me on. Need paperwork dropped at reception? That too. List goes on. Mention in passing that something was not to your liking? Quickly resolved and brought to managements attention. Service in general... excellent. Nice fun folks work this ship. They know your name and your preferences very quickly. Maybe tough to fly under the radar. Lol. Entertainment.. go to Stars to c Esther and Chantal. U won't b disappointed. Small jazzy setting. Class act and they r super people to get to know. More bff's.. Cabins.. I had a deck 8 veranda cabin. Very large, clean and well decorated. Did I mention clean? Spotless. I'm sensitive to bad smells. There r none to b found here. Food.. no complaints. If u r picky, they will accommodate your needs. Even at the buffet.. I saw people having their breakfasts or lunches brought to them. I prefer fixing my own tho. Water is excellent on board too. They have good wine choices as well. Plenty of choices for restaurants. If a res is needed, just ask your butler and it will b taken care of. I tried every restaurant including room service. Dining is an experience here. Dress... i was happy that I brought dressy clothes. We had 3 formal nights. Loved them. Most evenings r informal, but that is still an opportunity to dress up. Most do. Informal is not casual. I would definitely sail on Silver Spirit again. I would also suggest it as a good cruise for solo travelers. Read Less
