Chose this cruise because of the ports and the emphasis on Champagne . Every thing connected with that part of the trip was excellent. didn't like the fact of sooo many tender dockings and did not like where the shipswere docked when we did go to a port. They were far from the destinations. There were shuttle buses to take us to towns and that was great if you didn't go on ships tours. Oyster tasting excursion was excellent. Didn't do any other shore trips because they were frightfully expensive. Trip from Rouen to Paris airport was another long bus ride. AIrport service was excellent. Attendant at airport was very accommodating. Dining room service was excellent and so were cabin attendants. Every one went overboard to make sure you were pleased except for the reception desk. They were inexperience .One said this was her first ttime. Cruise director was very attentive and tried so hard to be helpful when something wasn't running smoothly. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it had an excellent itinerary of small ports along the coasts of Portugal, Spain, and France. Most other cruise lines only make one or two stops along these coasts. Also we had had an excellent experience with Silversea in Alaska so we expected the same this time. Not so. Our primary problem was being given an inexperienced butler which we didn't understand until half was through the cruise so when she didn't answer her pages or was extremely slow we assumed that Silversea had cut down on their service. The second problem was that dinner service was not available in any dining room before 7PM, and they have no dinner buffet or option for casual dining. Since the service in the dining room was extremely slow, it was impossible to finish eating early enough to get enough sleep before going on tour. They really seem to think that having their "guests" wear tuxedos is more important than meeting the needs of their passengers. The cabins are fine. We couldn't go to any entertainment. It was too late for us. The tours were good. I recommend the itinerary on another cruise line that isn't so impressed with itself. Read Less

This cruise went to places that we had never visited before. Having Silverseas handle all the transportion made for a more relaxing trip. Our Cruise Director, Moss was one of the best we've had in over a dozen cruises. Our only dissappointment was the limited number of speakers and other onboard activities which we were told was becasue there were not sea days. Still think there should be more as we do not go ashore or take shore excursions ever day. The shore excursions we did take were very good for the most part. There was only one that disappointed us. The fitness center could use some upgraded equipment and a little more room. There was also too few machines for the number of people onboard so you either have to wait or come back another time. Our butler was very good and went out of her way to address any of our concerns. Read Less

The Silver Spirit is a beautiful ship with many places, both inside and out, to spend time. The itinerary was as beautiful a one as I could have imagined. Each destination was interesting and welcoming, and Dr. Sherri Hut's talks were wonderful preparations for sightseeing. The food was excellent for the most part, and our butler, Maurice, couldnot have done enough to make us comfortable. I appreciated the suggestions of the Maitre d' to join other couples if we were by ourselves. We would definitely choose Silversea for another voyage. Things to be improved upon: 1. Aiport arrival was chaotic, and at least two passengers' names were not on the list. This should not be hard to fix. 2. The Japanese restaurant was disappointing from the cuisine's point of view (the service was fine.) Not worth the special reservation status. 3. The excursions were too expensive. For example a $199.00 price tag to go to Santiagode Compostela was a rip off. About an hour coach ride either way, the price was probably justified by the wine and snacks at the lovely hotel of the Reyes Catolicos, which were nice, but not necessary. I really wanted to see the ceremony of the 'Botafumeiro' in the cathedral, and the guides were pretty inflexible about allowing time for it. The answer was simply "I'm sorry, we can't do it." This was my 23rd cruise as a single with Silversea and my 9th cruise on Silver Spirit since its debut in 2009.although I have cruised with other lines I have always much enjoyed cruises with Silversea and the superb service together with top class food and a very friendly efficient, professional crew. I boarded smoothly and quickly at Civitavecchia and the first week visited Livorno,Monte Carlo,Antibes,Marseilles and Barcelona. The second cruise visited Ibiza,Cartagena,Malaga,Gibraltar,Cadiz and Portimao and I finished by flying home from Lisbon.I tend not to book the excursions preferring to have a walk in the ports of call each morning and then spend the afternoon relaxing in the private thermal suite of the Spa.o The ship had about 500 guests and nearly the ratio of one to one with the crew. There is much public space on this good looking, clean ship although do not expect much arranged entertainment on board:the afternoon feature the enjoyable Trivia Quiz and this is followed by a golf putting competition for prize points, which can be changed at the end of the cruis for small gifts.I did the morning Silver Quiz sheet available in the extensive Library and IT area. The evening entertainment included shows presented by the six Voices of Silversea:I enjoyed the Opera show best of all. I always had the same single table in the main restaurant and had the same waiter who got to know your preferences quickly.I was invited to dine with the Captain on the second week and also enjoyed the dining company of two officers on other evenings. It was always a memorable meal and when I returned to the main lounge bar after the meal there was always the coffee and delicious chocolates set out on a table. The best feature of the ship, which is privately owned by an Italian family is the insistence of arriving as a passenger and leaving as a friend. I always book on board for the following year and in 2018 I will cruise on the smaller Silver Whisper for my annual luxury cruise on this outstanding line. Read Less

Silverseas cruise line is one of our favorite and our recent cruise on the Silver Spirit once again was proof to us of Silverseas excellence. Our Mediterranean cruise from 5/31/17 thru June 7th 2017 provided us with a lifetime of memory and the crew of Silverseas played a major role in ensuring a memorable time. Our vacation started out rocky due to a mishap with British Airways meltdown and lost luggage. We had planned three days in Rome prior to the start of our cruise and we were left without luggage so when we boarded our cruise we had no luggage and limited clothing . Of course it was not the way we wanted to start our cruise but the Silversea crew came roaring to our rescue! Priscilla the Guest Relations Manager, Marlon our butler and Gracie our maid and so many others were absolutely wonderful to us. Priscilla was compassionate and understanding and arranged for a crew member to come to our suite and was able to provide me with shirts, slacks, t-shirts, dress shirts etc so that we could enjoy the cruise in comfort. Priscilla and her crew truly only wanted our happiness and wanted us to enjoy our time with Silversea and went above and beyond for us and for that I give this cruise-line and the Silver Spirit a 5 diamond rating!! The ship itself was very nice and the food, entertainment and accommodation were great. We did find the excursions to be a bit cramped for time and some of the excursion guides were difficult to understand but overall the excursions were adequate in terms of guidance the excursion locations were wonderful. The only other negative we would have is that our experience with the Silver Whisper on a prior cruise was a bit more intimate and the embarkation process on the Silver Spirit was a bit sloppy and not as memorable compared to our previous experience. But we would like to thank Priscilla the Guest Relations Manager, Marlon our butler, Gracie our maid and Miles the cruise director and all of the Silversea staff for a wonderful experience, these crew members work very long and hard hours to ensure our comfort and happiness and they deserve outstanding recognition. We will return! Read Less

Our friends, who are regulars, asked us to try a cruise with them and what a fabulous time we had. We appreciated the smaller ship and of course all the amenities. The crew was wonderful from the very outset and having a butler to supply anything we wanted, was a real highlight. The food was wonderful and we had such a great time poolside at The Grill, that we ate there 3 times in a week. Dining at La Tarraza, as we sailed from the port, was truly an unforgettable experience. My spouse has gluten allergies which can be a tough ordeal when traveling, but Silver Seas really impressed us. Each of the restaurants had multiple offerings and let me brag again on the butler. He brought a gluten free lunch to go for each shore excursion, which proved to be invaluable and removed the stress of finding an appropriate lunch location. Read Less

My second Spirit cruise to the Monaco Monte Carlo GP. The trip to and from race was efficient. The Ballet school gives a good view of the race circuit. I love the Spirit and the crew. The only disappointing and extremely annoying aspect was the internet service. I purchased the premium service at app $30/day and the service was spotty, disconnected from the internet many, many times /session. I have travelled on the Spirit many times and this was by far the worst and most expensive internet service yet. The crew is, as always, excellent. Food menu is predictable but adequate. Chef always available to provide meals of choice. Italian restaurant ( La Terrazza) menu changes every 3 days. As I have been on board so many times, the entertainment show themes stay the same, the performers change every 4 months. I have my favourite wines but the head sommelier always offers alternatives. We chose this cruise for the itinerary but, this specific week, because of the weekend watching the Grand Prix in Monoco. We began in Barcelona, a city we were anxious to see. We enjoyed seeing all the Gaui buildings but La Sagrada Familia was truly a work of art. It is a reason, in itself, to come to Barcelona. Cannes, even with all the crowds for the film festival, is a beautiful city. Monte Carlo (and the Grand Prix) speaks for itself. As does the charming little town of Portofino. It was so pleasant to just stroll around the town. The side excursion to Florence left us breathless and wanting to return. As did our stay in Rome and the sites we saw. Could not have asked for a more perfect itinerary. The ship was very luxurious. Our cabin was quite large and very well appointed. The choices for meals were many. And the menu in each of the restaurants was outstanding, meal after meal. There was enough entertainment to fill the evenings and it was all quite professional and enjoyable. The service by everyone was impeccable. Our personal butler could not do enough for us. Everyone always greeted us with a smile and hello - all the day long. It was obvious that everyone had the same mission - to make our stay aboard the very best. And it was. While you can't take credit for the weather - that too was perfect - the entire trip. All pre and post travel arrangements were very well done and took the stress out of our travels. Thanks SilverSea Read Less

We have sailed Silversea's before and switched to Crystal. Decided to try the Silver Spirit since we had not sailed her before. The ship is beautiful and the service from all crew members was excellent. However, we missed a few things that we enjoyed on prior Silversea voyages. There was no Galley Brunch, no live music on the pool deck, and not much fanfare as we left ports. Also, there used to be two shows in the evening. Now, the only show starts around 9:45 PM. For early diners, the gap is too long and there is very little to do while waiting for the show. The Supper Club concept sounded fascinating and romantic but was a huge disappointment. The food was not good, the room was half empty and the "Supper Club" ambience was lacking. Seishin had sushi on the menu but was actually a variety of pre-made rolls that were very heavy on rice and skimpy on fish. After Silk Road on Crystal, this was another huge disappointment for sushi fans. Champagne lived up to its hype. Great food and excellent service. A truly special dining experience. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise and will likely continue sailing with Silversea, but it isn't quite as special as it was 10 years ago. PS: The wi-fi is rediculously frustrating. At these rates, everyone should have wi-fi 24/7 anywhere on board. Read Less
