This was my second time on the dream. Almost everything was great . We enjoyed the food, if you can’t find something you like then your too particular. Shows at night we’re good and games during the day were great. Room was nice and always clean. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the lido deck, where many people hang out by the pool. There was not enough entertainment . They played a couple games the hairiest chest contest and another one. Then they Played mellow music . They need to have a DJ and get the crowd of people involved . We were bored . They should have something going on from 10-5 by the pool. We wanted to dance lol. Just needs a little more action on the Lido deck . We did the captains table and that was a great experience . And the boat is nice and big . Read Less

We used to love cruising with Carnival. I don't know if it was just this ship, but Carnival has cut way back on the things we used to love the most about cruising. The shows aren't even worth watching. I used to love the Las Vegas style shows. There weren't any dancers! They were the best part of the entertainment. There's just so much that's not the same. There aren't any more cloth tablecloths except on elegant nights. You have to pour your own water at dinner. You have to pick between morning and night for having your cabin cleaned. It used to seem like the stewards would sleep under the bed. Haha. This ship is not laid out very well. You can't walk all the way across the ship on the 5th floor unless you walk through the smokey casino. The only thing that they have improved on is the wide variety of food. There are a lot more places to eat now. It's still the cheapest vacation for the buck, but I'm not sure we'll be doing this again. This ship did have the best cruise director I've ever had, but I think he's off of the ship soon. Read Less

We left from Port New Orleans! The embarkation was a smooth process. It took about 30 minutes from luggage to on board! We arrived about 11:30 and were on board by 12:05. We were greeted warmly by our Cabin Steward, Adi! He was phenomenal. He called us by our names and he was enthusiastic about our days ashore. Also, he made the most wonderful towel displays and left our cabin spotless! The food was ok most nights! We enjoyed the elegant nights the most. the dinner selection was wonderful those nights. Because our daughter likes to swim, many evenings we had to eat on the Lido because we wanted to be with her. I tried every restaurant and fell in love with Chrisann from St. Lucia at the coffee bar! She new just what I wanted (vanilla milkshake with shot of Espresso!--THICK)! The Entertainment was great! Chris the Flying Scotsman was our Cruise Director and he really made our experience wonderful along with his teammates, J-Swift and Stephen! I thoroughly enjoyed our journey together. We played bingo, participated in trivia, watched the LipSync Battles, visited the spa for the kids party option, danced at the deck parties, watched Dive-In movies, and more. I would do it again in a heart beat!!! We Definitely Lived the Dream!! We also enjoyed the Stingray City and Rum Beach excursion in Grand Cayman, We went to Paradise Beach in cozumel. It was probably the highlight of our trip. It was wonderful!!! Fresh Mojitos!!! The beach was ok. There was a water park area (inflatables) available; however, my daughter loves water but is a beginning swimmer and the water was too deep for her. BUT she LOVED The pool there! It was warm and refreshing! Wait until Cozumel to make your liquor purchases. Carnival matches the price BUT specialty items are SIGNIFICANTLY Cheaper!!!! We also did the hop on hop off in Montego Bay. Overall, the cruise was phenomenal. We enjoyed every moment! Read Less

My group leader planned it for a group of 17 and it was our first cruise after 32 years of marriage. I can honestly say we were very happy with cruise, the food and drink, the wonderful shows that Chris and his staff provided every night, our delightful room service and talented dinning staff. If you are awarded a chance to have Charlie Brown as your waiter, I promise you will love him. No complaints here, if anything, the teens and tweens on the ship should have been watched closer by parents, they were quite unruly at times. All around the ship provided us with the ultimate and lovely vacation. Look forward to another cruise! shore excursion, we paid Annis $20.00 per person and she took us to all the main points of the Grand Caymans. She will stop for you real quick if their is something you want to see. In Jamaica we did a 35.00 a person excursion that ship recommended and stayed safe. I must say that some women saw I had money in my hand to pay for a hamburger and they were trying to steal from me but I held tight. Coszumel, the Isla Passion, well worth it! Unfortunately teenagers were running around at all hours, shouting and throwing things, and when we complained to guest services, as this was carrying on until 03;00hrs, we were informed, there was nothing that could be done. On the deck below us, there was an out door chess set, teenagers would congregate there, throwing the pieces around, shouting obscenities, I requested if the pieces could be removed at night, but was informed that they were in a public area, so could not be removed. The food in the Crimson restaurant was served cold, so we had to return it to the kitchen, on more than one occasion, in the buffet, you may have chilli con carne, but there was no rice, we had roast turkey on the menu, but there were no vegetables. And when i'm sitting down to my evening meal, I do not expect a waiter to be wandering around with a tray of drinks, which he is trying to sell shouting, {shot, shot, shot}, this is just a booze cruise. We had children with us ages 3,3,9,11,13,15. There were so many rude children on this cruise. Too much chair saving with no one using them for hours. I felt like service was awful compared to previous cruises. I will never cruise during spring break with Carnival again. Entertainment wasn't what we were used to. Paid for premium internet and it was a waste of money. Paid for the bottomless bubbles for a couple of the kids...they usually were done eating before drinks arrived. Going to the bar for their drinks is a horrible set up for children. I loved the location of our room on the 11th floor. It was very convenient for pools, slides, and food. The BBQ restaurant was open about 2 hrs the entire cruise. Long lines and really was not that good. This was our 6th cruise, 4th Carnival, 2nd time on the Dream. Disembarkation was a huge mess. No one was following the directions of which floors were being called. We will definitely be trying a different cruise line just for comparison if we cruise during spring break again. Read Less

Wanted to try a cove balcony was worried about being on deck 11 was great wentvright out of our room and there every thing was! Lots of choices to eat. Mongolian, Guys burgers are good! But I do like the traditional grill with choices of chicken nuggets French fries, nachos. tried the new pizza wasn’t bad! Alternative dining seems to be going down on choices. Ice cream oh my had it a few times. Brunch was very good steak and eggs! Guys Pig & Anchor was amazing just wasn’t open enough it was open two of the sea days! Even though we missed our port in Roataun it will not stop me from cruising! Ship was clean! I miss a lot of the old perks. Bigger isn’t always better! But you have to roll with the times! Read Less

We had an amazing time on the Carnival Dream. The staff was amazing. We loved all the bartenders, when you passed staff members they always greeted you with a smile. Our most favorite was our waitress Olivia. She was beyond amazing and we made sure to ask for her every night. If you are ever on the dream and eat in the cremson dining be sure to ask for her. Food was good some days and not so great other days, but their was always something you could find to eat that you would like. The only problem I had was some peoples children walking around with their foul language mouths and rude, which is not carnivals problem but the parents problem. Loved the comedy shows, they played movies at night on the lido deck, they had an 80s party and a mega deck party. Overall, we had an amazing time and will definitely do it again. This was what we picked for our honeymoon and we were very disappointed. Numerous factors came in to play that could have made our trip better but as it was, we may never cruise again. This was my husbands first cruise and my second. Which my first cruise was amazing and I have no complaints. Embarkation was very, very quick and smooth. Even with the long line of people I was amazed by how fast they got everyone on the ship. Our Cabin was fine, no complaints besides the horrible television selection. Dinio our steward was wonderful. Always smiling and friendly. Dining...We truly looked forward to dinner every night. That, I think, was our favorite part of the trip. IGusti, Benni, and Ana were a well oiled machine. Dinner service was always very quick and with a smile. We shared every evening how each of our days were and loved getting to know the crew. As for buffets, they were average. Plenty to choose from and some items were wonderful and some not so great. Guys burgers made us sick the first day of the cruise which really set the mood for the rest of the week. Needless to say we didn't try that again. We never got to try the Ancor BBQ, it was only open one day that I know of and the line was awful. Entertainment was okay. The Flying Scottsman was however amazing and did well getting everyone involved and up beat. Another favorite of our was the Love and Marriage show. I could have went to another one of those during the trip. We laughed so much we cried. We missed alot of the shows because of timing. Our dinner was late so alot of times it interfered with shows. We would either have to rush through dinner or we would have to leave early and miss the ending. I did not enjoy the vocalist at all in the lobby. There was one male that was okay but the rest were awful. We loved Passion Island in Cozumel even though they cut our trip short because the water was getting rocky. It was very relaxing and well worth the money. We didnt do any other excursions unfortunately. The very one thing we had our hopes up to do was in Honduras and due to weather conditions, which I understand, they were unable to dock the boat so we had to go back to Cozumel. Other things added in to our horrible trip...due to timing we had to go during spring break which meant there were tons of kids and only one adult only area that I was aware of which was always full. (The casino even had children roaming through and lingering around) Normally that wouldnt bother me so much but young kids were unsupervised all over the ship and were VERY rude. They would make videos in the stairwell and then get mad when you walked down the steps. They would cut you in food lines to catch up to their other siblings. They took up all of the hottubs and pools during the day so you couldnt swim. The pools were supposed to stay open until midnight and the crew would close almost every night by 9pm. The last port we decided to stay on the ship and enjoy the pools since everyone would be off at excursions and low and behold they were closed. I had my last straw after a Pixel crew member was rude to us while playing cards. I went to Guest Services to talk to someone about my complaints and concerns and basically was told to deal with it. There were a few things out of their control which I understand but they should enforce better supervision of children. I would never let my 6 year old roam around a boat that large by himself. I was not the only one complaining about the rude children either. It seemed to be an issue on our cruise. Also I think the pools constantly being closed down with 4000 people on a boat was ridiculous. He gave no explanation just that they have to clean it. They had it closed our whole last day at sea and only started to fill it up at night when we started back up the river toward New Orleans. Im not sure I will cruise with Carnival again. The Guest Services did not feel like there was an issue with any of my complaint so maybe I am just not meant to cruise. DONT CRUISE DURING SPRING BREAK FOR A HONEYMOON! Read Less

It was a great cruise due to the great staff. First the Flying Scotsman (Chris Williams) cannot be beat! He did a one hour one man show on the last afternoon that went from Elvis to Italian Opera (an Impossible Dream in between plus many others!). Our housekeeping Team, Arry and Lulu, did everything we wanted and needed! Arry made me a new towel animal every day and let me keep them for the whole cruise. My favorite was a bird in a swing with a piece of bubble gum in his mouth! The wait staff was excellent - Putra, Arlianty (Leah) and Hannifi. Leah gave me extra scallops and made me Mickey Mouse chocolate melting cakes (with 2 ice creams). We had a lot of seafood - even extra lobster tails!!! Putra danced with my grandsons which made it special! With all the eating I was shocked that I had lost a pound! But we also did a lot of walking! Maghogany Bay was an excellent beach especially if you get a cabana but book early! They get sold out. The ecopark on Belize was a good tour as you can see a lot of the lay of the land and hear history of the people of Belize. We just shopped in Cozumel since we had been at that port several times before. We did pick up our bambo sheet set from Cariloha that we won on the Love & Marriage show. The CArnival Dream is VERY big - our first cruise was on a ship with 600 guests which cannot be found any more. I do prefer a smaller ship. The disembarkation was the fastest we have ever done!! Embarkation was even not too bad. We were there at noon. At our age, not sure we will go again but will use Carnival if I do - maybe Cuba??? Read Less

The Dream is truly that, a Dream cruise. Extra clean, very friendly personnel, restful time, great food, love, love, love the people who work for Carnival! They are so friendly and accommodating. They took care of every request with no complaint and with a smile. Every area was clean and neat. I never saw any messy areas. Our cabin always had clean towels and extras in some cases. Our steward personally delivered the next days itinerary and any messages. Rafael was GREAT!! All the public bathrooms were clean at all times. There was never any trash left anywhere because someone from the crew was always there picking up, mopping, vacuuming, and wiping down every area. I never saw any unsanitary areas. All public bathrooms had plenty paper and soap. Every where I turned, there was a dispenser for antibacterial solution and it was always full. Every time someone left a table in any eating area, there was someone cleaning it for the next person. I have NO complaints about any part of the cruise.I didn't rate the entertainment excellent simply because it just wasn't my musical tastes, but my husband who is a musician said that every musician and dancer was talented. I highly recommend sailing with Carnival anywhere and will sail Carnival again in the very near future! Great job, Carnival!! Read Less

New Orleans is fantastic, stayed 4 nights either side of the cruise. Embarkation was organised and so was disembarkation. I liked :- The ship itself- it’s lovely, the ships decor, cabin was good size with ample storage, cabin steward very nice, dining room, theatre ( good special effects), live band & the brass trio, Guys burgers were delicious as was the smoke house, Indian and Italian lunchtime food. I wasn’t so happy with dining room service being so slow although the staff were super and the food delicious ,the desserts looked lovely but didn’t always taste as good as they looked and I felt they went mad with gelatine in them, our pillows and sheets smelt quite unpleasant and I asked for new pillows but they smelt the same so must have been what they were washed with. I also got small itchy spots all over my arms and legs but my husband didn’t. I thought perhaps I was allergic to the sheets??. They went as soon as we left the ship. Getting on and off the ship was very smooth on excursions. I didn’t think the excursions were good value as they brought you back to ship so early. We went to one place and just had time to get round it quickly then had to head back to the ship which didn’t leave for 3 hours. We went to another which was a beach and spent hardly any time on the beach at all. In future I’d organise that myself. We went to a midnight film and really enjoyed that, perhaps the bar staff could have been a little quieter as they were shouting, laughing and crashing about lol! Luckily not all the way through the film :) The comedy room was really good and very popular- lucky to get a seat in there so paid to be early. The shows were good but the singing was iffy (harmonies mainly) at times. The entertainment director Chris was fantastic, he put his heart and soul into everything he did, he’s such a hard worker! I think I’d opt for anytime dining in the future, we spent so long in the dining room it took over the evenings so we went to the buffet a couple of times. One big gripe was the bar service, not enough staff so long waits at times, then they’d disappear with your card so another wait then sign - why don’t they just scan your card which they do when you get on or off the ship. It would save all the waiting and paperwork. All in all though, we still had a smashing time, we were on holiday so chilled out and went with the flow. The ship is great for kids, they were all having a ball and the special clubs looked fabulous, the waterworks were brilliant too. I must also add that every single time I used a restroom anywhere on the ship they were spotless and actually very attractive, like hotel ones! I’d definitely go again so it couldn’t have been that bad even with the couple of gripes that we had! I’ve tried to be as fair as I can, we really enjoyed ourselves. Read Less

Have been wanting to go on another cruise for years. Friends were booking a trip on Carnival Dream and asked if my friend and I would like to join them. So glad we did. The ship was clean and there was so much to do. It was particularly windy during most of our time at sea but we still enjoyed time on deck and playing the trivia contests in the Ocean Plaza I even won a Ship on a Stick for the Golden Girls Trivia Contest. The movies by the pool at night were really fun. The food was good though not the greatest. However, our servers, Francis and Wenscislaw were wonderful and were more than helpful if we requested something. My one complaint would be the temperature of the hot tubs. Many of them were cool and some were just simply luke warm. By our final night at sea, the hot tub on the Serenity Deck was finally at a decent temperature. I would definitely cruise Carnival again. Read Less

Enjoyed the coffee shop on deck and the prices were very reasonable for coffee. Roatan was fantastic, We went to Little French Key, and will go again. Belize, we took the Carnival Snorkeling excursion and was not impressed. A 45 minute boat ride to a sand bar in the ocean. Snorkeling was not ideal as equipment was awful, and current too strong to enjoy the snorkeling. Cozumel, we went to Mr. Sanchos and it was excellent as always. The staff is what made this cruise really special. The dining staff was amazing. The guest services staff was amazing. The food was as expected. It wasn't the best thing I've ever tasted in the world, but I really can't complain. They are feeding around 5,000 people several times a day. The shows were really good. You have a lot of chances to win prizes. Everything in the shops is overpriced, even when they say you're getting a good deal. The only really good deal you're getting is with alcohol (when you buy bottles from the shop). I didn't think the alcohol drink package was necessary. We pre-ordered $100 bottle of Malibu room to our room, and we brought a 2 bottles of wine and 2 12 packs of mixers (between the two of us). This lasted us for the entire cruise. We did order around 1-2 drinks a day from the bar while at sea. Excursions: At Cozumel, we did the salsa and margarita making excursion. The hotel and view we had during this excursion was GORGEOUS. This is definitely an excursion for someone who has a low activity level. You get endless margaritas, but they have no sugar in them. We weren't a big fan of the margaritas. You will definitely get drunk very quickly. Learning how to make salsa was fun. The hotel we were at had wifi, which was nice. The bathrooms are pretty small, but the entire place is kept very clean. You are able to stay for an hour after the event and use the hotel's pool and man-made beach, but we elected to go back to the port. At the port we shopped and had a really good time. At Belize, we did not do an excursion, but we should have. In Belize, they do not have a big port that cruise ships can go into. You have to take a smaller boat to get to the island. This was a 2 hour process. There are a few shops and restaurants to explore. I recommend booking an excursion, because otherwise Belize is kind of boring. At Roatan, we booked a beach day at Mahogany Bay which included: beach chairs, umbrella, and pool/ocean floats. This was by far my favorite. I suggest getting out there as soon as possible to find good seats. We were at the front row right in front of the ocean. We took a ski-lift to get to the beach which provided amazing views. I really enjoyed that. Read Less

We went on this cruise with 85 new and old friends. We first started cruising with this group in 1998. Since then the quality of the cruise has gone down a lot! The food and service used to be wonderful. The food on the Carnival Dream was awful. Poorly cooked, never hot and very repetitive. The quality was terrible. We had a balcony suite at the very back of the ship because we were told they were bigger. It was bigger, but it was filthy. Even after they washed it (5 days in) it was still not useable. The furniture and the glass railing weren't washed so we couldn't sit down and see out and enjoy the view. The wait times in the Dining Room was terrible. We waited one night over 50 minutes between our appetizer and main course so we had to skip the dessert and coffee or we wouldn't have made the show. Most nights the food came lukewarm at best because it sat around waiting to be served to us. Carnival has cut back a lot on the number of wait staff they have. The cabin was clean, but very dated. The couch was worn and the leather needed washing. The paint was peeling off of the lamps. The main shows in the Encore Lounge were very good. Embarkation was easy and went well. But it was raining when we embarked so finding a seat to have our lunch was next to impossible because everyone was trying to crowd into a sheltered area. The pools were very clean and nice to swim in. Carnival totally destroyed my luggage on disembarkation so now I have to go thru their hoops to get a claim reviewed. I had to ask them to wrap my suitcase in duct tape so I could get my mangled luggage onto our flight home. They didn't seem to care that my luggage was beyond repair and put on the form "broken zipper" The whole end panel was totally ripped off! And in fact the zippers worked! Overall, Carnival has slipped below the standards we expect in cruising and we won't be sailing with them again. We went on a 21 day cruise in January with Holland America and they will be our cruise line from now on. Just about everyone in our group of 85 were disappointed with the food and service. Read Less

Departing from New Orleans was interesting as I had no idea how far the port actually was from the ocean. Our balcony cabin had plenty of room to spread out and also for storage. Dining room food was generally very good and the service was top notch. I particularly liked Guy’ Burger Joint (LOVE their fries) and also the BBQ place (I don’t recall the name.) The buffet, especially at breakfast, was really good—really enjoyed the custom omelet station. On sea days the pool area was very crowded and sometimes it was hard to find a place to sit. Entertainment was pretty good, but it would have been nice to have had more options for activities during the day. Unfortunately, the hot tub we visited wasn’t working well. The water was only lukewarm and so with the wind on the deck, it made for a chilly (and pretty unfun) experience. All in all, a pleasant cruise and a relaxing week. Read Less

This was a wonderful trip. I have not sailed on Carnival in 10 years and my boyfriend had never been on Carnival before this trip. We spent one night pre-cruise in New Orleans at Hampton New Orleans Convention Center, it was very convenient and offered a free shuttle to the port you just had to sign up at the desk. The quickest embarkation we have ever experienced. The terminal was organized and the employees were polite and knowledgeable. The food was great, there were always plenty of choices and if you didn't like something it was encouraged for you to order something different. Our cabin was plenty big for 2 adults and offered lots of storage. Activities we participated in were fun, we tried every bar, lounge, saw every show and each comedian and the piano bar. There was never a lack for options. We enjoyed the ports and excursions very much and felt the value was worth the experience. Disembarkation was simple and organized, it even started a little earlier than expected based on the documentation we were provided. Read Less

We chose this cruise because I wanted to cruise Carnival, it was affordable and out of a port of choice. The Carnival Dream is nice enough, about average. Embarkation and debarkation were about average as well, though the porters and available assistance staff were lacking a bit. GREAT SERVICE-- ARTY was a server near the pool. He was one of the highlights of this cruise. Very accommodating and friendly. Some of the best customer service skills on this ship. KADEK - was exceptionally friendly in giving directions. Goran in the Casino-- top notch, fun and friendly. But whatever you choose to do; AVOID the CLOUD 9 SPA Seminars. Many of the seminar host are extremely rude and demeaning if you choose not to purchase. Though we went to the seminars to get more information and were fully aware that it would be a sales pitch of sorts, we were not expecting to be insulted and demeaned. A young arrogant male- We listened to two of his seminars, one on pain relief and another on detoxification and overall health. Both products were of interest after hearing him speak. Pain relief was for Good Feet arch supports and the seminar was interesting but we did not ask for further consultation. Later, he gave another seminar on having a flatter stomach, which turned out to be a 'beneficial algae supplement that detoxed and cleansed'. We also attended that and was interested enough to go to the next step and have a private consult with him. The 30 minute consult took about 4 minutes after he asked my friend if she had been in earlier. When she said yes for the pain seminar the conversation turned to what she thought of the insert demonstration. Then the humiliation started. Her answer to him was that the product was impressive (she had participated in the demonstration) but she could not afford them right now. His entire demeanor changed in an instant. He said "Well if you can't afford them, you can't afford this" speaking of the algae supplements. After a few more berating comments he told us that he had other clients waiting and rushed us out of the room. My friend was in tears. Our last seminar was with a Asian woman. She was an acupuncturist and was going to relieve pain in our "entire body" with natural/ancient medicine. I am a believer in natural healing so we attended the seminar and promptly scheduled a session. It was shocking! There was a health questionnaire and she asked what ailments we had. We each explained our individual problems and she pretended to know what they were. It was explained in simple terms that manipulation of certain body parts would cause great pain. She said she understood and then proceeded with the exact same process on both myself and my friend. It was excruciatingly painful. But that is not the worst of it. She inserted the acupuncture needles (ungloved), left the room and told us to continue moving while she was gone. We were following her direction when we noticed the floor was covered in used acupuncture needles and my friend was BAREFOOT! We counted 37 needles on the floor. Has this person of natural medicine ever heard of blood borne DISEASES?! When she returned we pointed it out; she basically ignored us and the hazard and went on with the sales pitch. After several times of leaving and returning to the room she asked if we would like to schedule another session. We of course said No. And she had the exact same answer that the arrogant man had given us earlier in the week "I have other clients waiting" and rushed us out. We were so shocked. DR. INES- The only saving grace of the spa. She was professional and courteous. She stated her professional medical opinion about the product and how it would benefit each of individually. The incredibly poor customer service is obviously a systemic issue in the CLOUD 9 SPA on the CARNIVAL DREAM. Because the verbiage was so close with these two, one may assume it is part of the Salesman Training for Carnival? While I understand that time is money; there are better ways to end a sales pitch. EXCURSION ACCIDENT- While on a shore excursion booked through Carnival, my friend was accidentally hit in the face by the boat captain. He was pulling an anchor rope when it let go and he elbowed her hard in the jaw. She was hit hard enough that she was knocked into the crowd which prevented a fall and the impact was great enough to cause discomfort and later, swelling. We were a bit surprised when no one from the crew asked if she was OK but we made a point to tell the Captain (as well as other management staff onsite) what had had happened. The boat Captains response was "I think you'll be fine" with no apology whatsoever. CARNIVAL MEDICAL Staff -- A M A Z I N G !! As soon as we returned to the ship we went to medical to have my friends swollen jaw examined. The staff was amazing! Two incredible nurses (didn't catch names), both from South Africa were the best health care professionals that I have seen anywhere in many years. My friend was seen by the on board Doctor and she said the exam was thorough. She was very satisfied with the service she received. We just cannot say enough about how efficient and friendly the medical staff was. OVERALL- I have been on many cruises but this was my friends first. Over the years I have noticed that the staff on various cruise ships have become less and less hospitable. When I first started cruising the employees seemed happy and very friendly. Most seemed to enjoy the work. NOW, The majority appear to hate their jobs. On the CARNIVAL DREAM this time there were almost no smiles, very few chats and not much interaction between staff and cruisers. Read Less

This was our first cruise and our family has been cruising with Carnival approx 2 times per year for several years now and it was time for us to give it a try. We are hooked! We got home from New Orleans on Sunday night and I booked a Carnival cruise less than 48 hours later and another one tonight! The dining was superb and the waitstaff was on point! Our steward could not have been better and the cruise director, The Flying Scotsman, made the cruise better than we could have ever imagined. And a shout out to Randy Andy who was the comedy director. Great shows, entertainment, service, and food for all ages and palates. Next March 2019 cannot come fast enough! We have booked a 7 day on the Carnival Breeze. I have never felt more at home and relaxed as I did this past week. Thank you Carnival, you got it right! Tammy McCrory Jennifer Mooney Read Less

My husband and I just returned yesterday from our 7 day cruise on the Carnival Dream. It was the first cruise for us together and since we didn't take a honeymoon in June 2016, we decided to make this our honeymoon trip. We loved everything about the ship and we got a balcony room so that we could relax on the balcony in the mornings before starting our day and in the evenings after a long day of entertainment to unwind. Only 1 major problem...the cabin below ours had a smoker and YES, he was smoking on the balcony, which is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. We reported it the second night and the next day, he was there again smoking. I actually saw him with cigarette in hand and called to complain again. The next day, a crew member came to our cabin to check to see if they could figure out what cabin it was, as they had gone to other cabins and found no evidence of smoking or they knocked on the door and no one answered. So, I went on my Carnival Hub app, which is awesome, by the way, and looked to see where our cabin was and counted from the elevator how may cabins it was to get the cabin number below ours. We contacted guest services once more when we yet again encountered the SMOKER on the balcony and this time gave them the cabin number. Well, needless to say that nothing was ever done since yesterday morning he was there yet again SMOKING on the balcony-which my husband now has photo evidence. I am appalled that the crew on this ship did not know what cabin was below ours and that nothing could be done about this guest smoking on the balcony. My balcony that I was looking forward to enjoying became a nightmare. I asked on this forum before I left about a clothing steamer and found that it was prohibited due to being a fire hazard; however, smoking on a balcony or having an open flame (lighter) anywhere on a ship with 3000 guest is allowed. This however, as upsetting as it was, was not going to ruin my honeymoon, so we just hoped and prayed that the ship would not go up in flames and we made the most of the time we were on the ship. Guys burgers was amazing and the pizza was out of this world. The shows were impecable with the production of Flick so well done. Mathew was awesome as Flick as well as the other performers. Our cruise director, The Flying Scotsman was so full of energy and made the cruise so much fun. We loved all the crew who serviced our cabin and provided excellent care with our needs. Aside from the smoking issue this was a great first cruise for my new husband and I together. Read Less

Feb. 3, 2018 Day One, my Wife and I arrive at the Days Inn Gretna, La. one day earlier than our Cruise, this is our normal routine. As we check in I notice things are getting run down and in disrepair, the continental breakfast that is still advertised is no longer available and the lounge has been turned over to a private contractor and did not even open. Our room looked ok but had water spots on the ceiling and a stale odor. The room next to ours had several screaming kids from what appeared to be a family living in the hotel (not a good night). The Days Inn is a park and cruise hotel, but this was definitely our last stay. Our next cruise is scheduled in May and we are not driving, instead taking the train from Memphis. Embarkation was fairly smooth had an issue with removing all the metal before passing through the detector. Once onboard we just sat in the theater for about an hour, this is to let all the (me first) I am (in a hurry) people try to get to (where ever) before anyone else. When you first get on breath and try to relax! This was our 4th cruise on the Carnival Dream and our second cove balcony. The Dream for us is a very entertaining and fun ship, Capt. Bovo and the crew were fantastic, Our cabin 2354 Main deck had a little noise, but nothing like what I had read on another post, if you want total silence visit the onboard morgue! The cuisine has improved with the return of Lobster and our servers (always changing due to anytime dining) were great. The entertainment was very good but we missed Chris Williams our Cruise Director from past cruises on the Dream. The port day's my wife and I stayed onboard, we have the ship to ourselves, no wait elevators or food lines. The truth is my wife broke both sides of her cervical just before our cruise in September 2017. We are on the Dream again in August and November 2018 hope to see everyone then. We chose this cruise two years ago when we were on the Breeze. We always book onboard for the perks and were only on the Breeze because Carnival had cancelled our cruise on the Dream! Only once we spoke with the future cruise booking agent on the Dream we were told that our former booking should have never been cancelled! As a consolation gift they gave us a $25 bar credit (we don't drink) and we didn't figure out until the last day of this cruise that we could have used it all week for specialty coffees! We checked in online as soon as final payment was done and neglected to realize that we needed to select a boarding time! As a result, we ended up having to arrive at the pier 2-2:30 and felt like we missed out on half a day. Our fault I suppose but we still felt like we missed out unnecessarily. We walked on with our luggage (no porters in sight) and went straight to our cabin since it was so late, and yet, no sign of our cabin steward and the room was cleaned but had no card with his name, no rubber cloth to protect the bed from the suitcase, no bottles of water (past guest), no tickets for purchased shore excursions, in fact, there was no card in the phone to show which button would reach which party! My husband pushed a button and got 911 and they got really angry that we didn't have an emergency! When we reached the services desk, we told them our room wasn't ready and within minutes we had a knock on the door. It was our room steward who wanted me to write a note stating that he had made up the room!!! I wrote it and managed to ask for an ice bucket - but in the process he decided what I meant was that I only needed a clean up in the morning and no evening turn down. By now I was not having fun, we had not gotten to eat anything or even hear any music, some cruise!! and it was already time for the muster drill! After 27 cruises, we know how to enjoy a cruise, any cruise, there is no such thing as a bad one, but this one truly tested this belief. I didn't mind him not refilling toilet paper or tissues or leaving the brown box out instead of replacing it in the dispenser, replacing towels even when we left them on the towel bar, etc. We had traditional seating and ended up alone most nights at a table for 5. Then we found out that our table mates (who showed up twice) had been severely ill just prior to boarding, and were still sick that first formal night that they sat at the table with us! They told us this on the second formal night when they once again came to dinner. In general, the food and services on this ship were really not good. I heard that the staff and crew had been transferred to the Vista and that these were people in training. One thing that truly annoyed us was that on the last day of the cruise, the food was finally what we had been hoping for the rest of the week and the entertainment was great as well. It disappointed me to think that they wanted us to like the last day so we'd go home happy... umm.. what about the other 6 days???? So, in spite of this experience, we figured it would be better on the next cruise so we went to book a future cruise booking. Well, it turns out that not only would they not allow us to book out as far as 2020, they don't offer the same perks anymore. The onboard credit has been cut in half and they won't allow you book an open booking, you have to pick a specific cruise. Neither of these conditions will work for us since we already have another cruise booked for 2019 and we don't know exactly which cruise we want for the next year that they won't let us book anyway! I cannot say enough good things about the Mahogany Beach in Honduras!!! The beach is spectacular, the snorkeling very good, the chair rail ride to the beach super nice, and the staff on the beach could not be nicer! They worked seamlessly with one another creating a wonderful, pampering environment for us, the guests! Unfortunately I am afraid it is goodbye to Carnival and we'll just have try some other line for 2020 which is really too bad since there are many things we still truly love about Carnival! Read Less
