We traveled with a large group so, you can be sure we had a good time. The ship was quite nice and a perfect size--not too big. The staff was great--especially Diamond in the Bliss Lounge, Sandra in the piano bar, and of course our steward, Asep. Everyone working onboard was friendly, hard working, and attentive. The specialty restaurants were great-Teppanyaki, Cagney's, La Cucina, and Moderno (Teppanyaki the best) and dining in Alizar and the Grand Pacific were also very nice. The Garden Cafe always had a variety of offerings if you wanted to eat quickly but, finding seating was not always easy. The other dining areas around the ship were also very good. It was never difficult to find something delicious to eat, or drink either. We enjoyed the piano player, Toze, and the guitar player, David, enjoyed listening to their music, singing, and dancing-while it lasted. Sometimes it ended too early, stopping for a game show or some other activity which resulted in lots of people leaving with no where else to go to dance. We didn't go to any of the shows in the Stardust Theatre after the first night so I can't say anything about them. The ports of call were not the greatest. We did private tours in Cartagena and Costa Maya and they were our best excursions. Harvest Cay was nice and we enjoyed spending a relaxing day on a beautiful beach. The private beach in Roatan was okay and the animal refuge there was interesting. Our excursions, with not a lot to choose from, in Colon and Limon were fair at best and certainly not worth the price. It would have been far more interesting staying on the ship in Colon and going back through the canal to see what we couldn't see going through the first time. Limon was too much the same as Colon. Both of these cities were so run down and poverty stricken, that it was difficult and depressing driving through them to get to where we were going. I think my favorite days were our five days at sea. Disembarkation was easier than on any other cruise we have been on which made for a pleasant ending to an enjoyable vacation. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to go thru the Panama Canal again. We did it a couple of years ago and it was not a very enjoyable experience. This time was much better. Our cabin was ok, however I really did need a handicapped cabin, which the ship could not accommodate me with. Most of the food was ok, however having a dietary issue, at times the dining staff could not find a dessert to fit my needs. Sorbet and jello were usually offered, neither of which I like. Teppanyaki is an amazing restaurant, as was Cagneys steakhouse. Le Bistro's food was intensely over seasoned, and not palatable. We were disappointed with the Dolphin swim and Adventure at Costa Maya. It was amazing to be able to swim with them, however the costs for pictures were VERY EXPENSIVE!!! Beware, and cameras are not permitted. Our trip to Harvest Caye was very enjoyable, and our least expensive. The Capuchin monkeys, macaws, and sea lion more than made up for our disappointing visit with the dolphins, Otherwise, our trip was very enjoyable, excellent entertainment, things to do aboard ship, attentive stewards and cruise staff. I was leader of a group of twenty friends age 60-70. And we chose this cruise for the Panama Canal itinerary. We ate in 4 special dining rooms and the Alizar and Grand Pacific for dinner with reservations made before we left home. My group generally agreed the food and service was very good. Embarkation procedure was good although the terminal was hot and didn’t have enough seating. The entrance to the ship was lame and the atrium space is under whelming (but clean and nice) after being on some of the bigger ships. The public spaces were always clean. The food at dinner was very good to excellent, for lunch, in the Garden Cafe, the food was a little repitious but tasted fine. We did lunch several times in O’Sheehan’s. The burgers on the pooldeck were very good too. Dinner at Teppanaki was terrific, the food was delicious and I am not even a fan of Asian food. The chefs and their “shows” were fantastic. The group loved it. Cagney’s food was great too and service good. They were helpful with a large group. LaCucina was ok. It is small (as are all of the specialty restaurants) so less able to accommodate a group of twenty. Also there is nothing special about the ambience. No tablecloths just plastic place mats. And Moderno was also just ok. The same placemats as in LaCucina. The meat in Cagney’s and Teppanaki was better, but it was our last night and I could hardly look at food because I had already eaten so much. The cabin (a balcony mini suite) was great, clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a tub and shower. So much closet and storage space. We didn’t see all of the theater entertainment, but Blazing Boots was good. We felt like they missed the age demographic in the nightclubs. Not enough dance music from my time and too many games. Our cruise director was Jacky and I was not a fan. He tried too hard to get suggestive responses during the night time games and it felt like the only type of dancing he knew was line dancing. I felt the bar service was fine. There were always waiters circulating, but you can get a drink fast enough at the bar too. And a special kudo to Diamond, our bar waiter in the Bliss Lounge. We did a few excursions. Basically they all worked well and were as described. The day at the Panama Canal was not as smooth we spent too much time waiting in the theater for the tenders, probably because we were late getting into and through the canal. The good news was the ship was early getting out of the lake and to Colon where everyone who went on an excursion was taken to reboard the ship. That way less time to kill in Colon. Debarkation went well and we did an excursion in the Everglades that was a good way to spend time before a 5pm flight and it was also transport for the group to Fort Lauderdale. And one final point. We had an included drink package but bottled water isn’t even included. Considering the ‘charge’ is shown as higher than RCI’s drink package. Water bottles should be included. It is on RCI. Read Less

Embarking onto the ship was a horrible experience and we were worried that this was an indication as to what our trip was going to turn out. Felt like we were be herded in like cattle. Thank goodness once we boarded the ship things turned around. Our first cruise with Norwegian; overall was a great trip! Cabin service was excellent and service in the spinnaker lounge was exceptional. Many dining choices. The ship was very clean and the crew was friendly. The nightly entertainment and game shows were so much fun; the Cruise Director/Co-Director were very fun with everything they hosted. We decided to book with Norwegian because of the wonderful packages they offered; by the middle of our trip we signed up with Next Cruise to book future cruises. Only negative - compared to other cruises we have taken we felt that the Shore excursions were a little disorganized when meeting to depart the ship and trying to find the right tour bus to get on. There wasn't much direction given. Also, one evening I went to the shore excursion desk and the gentleman working was very dismissive to me and seemed annoyed that I was asking him a question. The comedian was funny as was the ventriloquist, the singers and dancers were good, the singer from Vegas (Alyssa Harris) was great, the acrobat duo were fantastic. We thought the shows were the best that we have seen and we have been on 7 cruises across 4 lines. Main dining room food was the least appealing of all of our cruises. Crepe and omelette stations in buffet were nice. They know how to make real cheesecake! We tried many flavors. My husband liked the ice cream and the milk stations close together. :) We enjoyed the free pub, O'Sheehan's. We appreciated the many ports included on this cruise. We usually do our own excursions but went entirely with the cruise line on this one due to security concerns. They were expensive, but with the $50 per port excursion perk, they were manageable. It was a lot of time on buses and other transport, but the guides were good and the trips well managed. We were warehoused for a couple of hours before embarking, something that we usually avoid by arriving a bit later. They offered enrichment activities like painting and origami, but they didn't interest us. We exercise daily and found the track to be small but ok and the fitness room to be ok. Staff were pleasant across the board, especially the excursions desk which allowed us to make a couple of changes at the last minute. Overall price was quite high for a vacation for us as budget conscious travelers. We enjoyed our vacation and would book with Norwegian again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it fit in to our schedule, they offered free drink package, reduced airfare and 5 free dining upgrades. We were flown from Boston to Miami on a premium airline nonstop. We got their free shuttle from the airport to the ship terminal building. Once there, check in was immediate. We were on the ship at 12:06pm... 6 minutes after boarding had begun! Once on board, the staff welcomed us at every juncture. The buffet was open so we stopped there first to wait for our rooms to be ready at around 2pm. There are 3 free restaurants and 5 restaurants that you pay for but we had the 5 included in our package. We however, chose only to go to two of them. We found the other free ones quite nice. We have been on many cruises but this by far was the most “laid back”. We really could eat any time with anyone or just alone. The people cruising were very friendly. The entertainment was very good and the excursions were extremely well done. We chose an 8th deck cabin with ocean view which suited us fine. We saw many awesome sunrise and sunsets from our cabin. We especially liked the Tabyana snorkeling excursion and the one to the Miraflores locks because our tour guide was excellent showing us all the air bases and explaining the history. We would definitely recommend this cruise. We have been on other cruise lines (4 Royal Caribbean and 1 Carnival) and are traveling without kids (I think the other cruise ships have more for kids) this is a great cruise. It is not as fancy as some of the other ships we have been on, but the flexible schedules makes it truly a pleasure. Read Less

Checking in and disembarking went very smoothly. The specialty dining was excellent. The main dining rooms had the same menu so other than having to dress up more at the Grand Pacific there was no difference. The crew and staff on board were excellent. They were helpful and friendly and addressed us by name if they saw us several times. I lost my wallet at Colon Panama and they did all they could to help me address the trials and tribulations of this occurring. The steward said good morning etc. every time we saw him in the hallways. The room was always in excellent condition without him hovering or being in the way. The theater's seating was very uncomfortable as the seats were very low and hard to get up from. The lounge and nightclub seating was very uncomfortable as they were tight. I don't know how large people sat in any of the seating in the lounges. The bartenders and wait staff were entertaining and friendly. They remembered you if you went to the same lounge more than once. We had a mid-ship picture window room on Level 5 Our picture window was so scratched we couldn't really see anything out of it. This could be because our room was so close to the water level and is probably scratched from the salt water and wind during storms. The toilet area was tight but the rest of the bathroom area was adequate. The closet wasn't huge but there were plenty of drawers to accommodate clothing for an 11 day cruise. Entertainment was very good with a high quality and variety. There were many activities during the day that were a lot of fun. The digital scavenger hunts were very entertaining. The port in Belize is beautiful. I wouldn't plan an excursion at this stop unless it's something you can't miss as the beach area is huge, free and beautiful. The passage through the Panama Canal was the highlight of the trip. I sat right up front in the Spinnaker Lounge which has 90 degree view from the front of the ship. I used the NCL app on board. The wi-fi was active to use this app. I could check my account spending, the days activities and it listed which excursions and specialty dining were active for each day. You also can text others on the cruise that paid a $10 fee for this feature only. I did not have need of this feature but would use it if I was traveling with a larger group. Read Less

**Second 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Jade in 2 years.( 4 total NCL cruises in past 5 years.) Really enjoyed last years’cruise on the Jade and decided to go on the Jade again to visit the islands we were diverted from last year because of the hurricanes. Big mistake ! **Food was mediocre at best. Even the upcharge restaurants could not seem to serve food that was hot...food was luke warm at best and bland. The buffet was almost inedible...starch, starch, and more pale white starch. Coffee is the worst ever.Ugh. Most of the meat was tough and flavorless. I noticed food handlers, at the buffet being reprimanded by their supervisors on numerous occasions for different infractions. I work in food service, so I’m highly aware of food serving standards . Not a comforting thing to see while trying to stay healthy on a trip. **Drink package was changed, unbeknownst to me, up charges on premium brands. Ugh. This is on top of paying for taxes and a 20%gratuity on the “ free “ package.Super long waits at the outdoor bars. **Free WiFi was a joke as the free 250 minutes were used when the logout did not work. On board app needs much work, very frustrating. **Mini suite and cabin steward were both great. **After only ever sailing on NCL, this cruise has me questioning my loyalty ...don’t get me started on the latitude tier program...a joke. Will be venturing out to sea on another cruise line next time. Read Less

Drinks at least $15 and soda was $4.11(15) for a plastic cup. Shows and Night Life were GREAT. Bring something WHITE to wear for the White Dance. Activities were good. Latest Movies that were shown on television were SUPER! They were Oscar movies too. If you have to leave your cabin for any reason, the movie would repeat at another time or day depending. A big negative was the heavy smoke in the Casino. It was so heavy that you could cut it with a knife. As we visited more port of calls, the smoke did get better but it was still smokey. Not just a southern Caribbean experience but our Norwegian experience was awesome. We loved the smaller ship experience and the food and service couldn't be beat. We dined in all the speciality dining restaurants as well as the main dining rooms. We could not have been more pleased with the food choices and wine choices. We were treated like royalty for our Anniversary. We were even given a professional photography shoot which was amazing. The photos came out great. The experience of the staff is commendable. I felt like they were serving the same thing every time I went. The specialty Restaurants are much better than the regular restaurants , in my opinion. I just find that they keep going up on prices. The employees work very hard and are very friendly! I never encountered an unfriendly one. The casino staff was great! They would visit my machine to make sure I didn’t need anything! Way to take care of your Ruby players! I loved the ports we visited! St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. kitts and St. Thomas were my favorites! Barbados was just ok! I don’t think I would visit there again or maybe next time I would book an excursion here. San Juan was also ok! Also, I find they are lacking on activities and also the entertainment is just ok. That was my second time on this ship. I just love the newer ships with more to do. Read Less

We chose this cruise because there was only one island that we had already visited and we love the longer cruises. We also love the Eastern and Southern Caribbean. The ship was lovely, clean and comfortable. No matter what part of the ship we were at, we felt welcomed and at home. The Jade is a smaller ship and very easy to find our way around. This trip we booked a balcony room, as usual it was clean and welcoming. Our cabin steward was amazing, friendly and alway present and ready to meet our every need. He cleaned and checked our room twice a day, we never lacked for anything. There is nothing better than sitting on the balcony watching the lights of the approaching port get closer as the sun rises. Seeing Miami fade into the distance is alway exciting! The specialty restaurants were great!! This trip we visited Cagney's (twice), Le Bistro and La Cucina. Every item ordered came exactly as requested, even the steaks were done correctly!! Not to mention the desserts, oh my! We did several NCL excursions and were not disappointed. Great boat rides, private beach and island history. Oh yes...and a volcano!! So many choices and so little time!! My best take away was the fresh banana from a roadside stand on St. Lucia. The van excursion driver bought them for us. I am sure I will never taste a banana that good again!! The saddest part was leaving, can't wait until we can cruise again. We love NCL. Read Less

We booked this cruise as we wanted to do another Caribbean, winter escape, cruise. We really enjoyed our cruise a couple of years ago on the Pearl and wanted to sail her sister ship, Jade. Hadn't been to the southern, eastern Carib islands before so the itinerary was perfect. And it did not disappoint. Nor did the Jade. Embark went well, very efficient, no issues. Our cabin was on deck 8 ocean view pic window, 8624. Space and layout of these cabins are spacious and roomy. Bed very comfy, very nice pillows. Bathroom is very adequate, good space in shower with awesome water pressure. All in all the cabin has plenty of room for two, closet and drawer storage. Our cabin steward was stellar, thus so waupers the cleanliness and all things stateroom. Dining and food was very good. Dined in Cagneys twice, experience and food was good, however, not quite as good as two years ago on the Pearl. Other specialty venues that we dined were good, but not great. Honestly, the Grand Pacific was the best dining for food and service we experienced. It was super, great food, impressive menu, impeccable service. The entertainment in the pool areas on deck 12 & 13 in the afternoons was very fun, music always upbeat. Evening entertainment in the bars area at Magnums as well as the Atrium was beyond great. We didn't go to the shows in the Stardust theater because the music and entertainment in those other venus was so good. The guitar player that did the Neil Diamond tribute was outstanding. He was in the Atrium area, and it was packed, standing room only. Service ship wide was stellar. Crew, customer service, wait staff, all of them. Enjoyed all of the ports of call. Our time at San Juan was short, enjoyed a short tour of old San Juan and San Christobal. St. Thomas, we did the newly re-established Tree Limin' Extreme Zip Line excursion. Great Fun! A must do if you like this sort of thing. Guides were super fun, very good about teaching safety and good technique so you could have a good experience. We traveled with a group of 10 friends. We are all in our 60s and had a ton of fun with this. St. Kitts is stunning. We did the Scenic rail tour. Very enjoyable, good culture and history of the island with this fun old train tour, not to mention some really good rum drinks served along the way. Barbados - we did the 4x4 and Harrison cave tour. I can not recommend this enough. The 4x4 specialty vehicle is a hoot as is the guide that drives it. Stops along the way are beautiful. Then you go to the Harrison Cave. Amazing. Ancient history. Truly a great experience. St. Lucia - didn't do a shore excursion here. St. Maarten - as with all of the other islands, St. Maarten is so beautiful. We did the Ultimate Explorer and Island tour. Part of the tour was on a nice air conditioned coach bus, the water part was on a catamaran boat called Explorer. Boat guys were a lot of fun, great tour of both sides of this island. More of those yummy rum drinks flowed freely. This island has made a lot of headway with repairs and recovery since the 2017 hurricanes, however, there is still a great deal of damage and destruction that is very visible, humbling. Truly a great cruise. Disembark was good. I think disembark is always a bit hectic. We did the Everglades airboat to MIA international airport tour after disembark in Miami. Good experience and tour. Guides give a great airboat ride! Learned a lot about the everglades we did not know. Look forward to the next NCL cruise. Read Less

First time with Norwegian, we did only a dozen of cruises to date with different companies. Departure was Miami port, easy access 30 minutes from airport depending on trafic. Let get rid of the negative -Driest embarkation, not even a glass of water in the waiting hangar, no welcome cocktail on board. Be prepare to wait (in the sun) before embarkation, the security is close to the entrance queue overflow outside. This should be corrected when the new hangar under construction, is finished -The "oceanview" cabin is extremely small and the equipment under expectation, not even a chair to sit, no table. Wall to wal bed, small desk with the hair dryer. -very small efficient bathroom, has 3 sections separated by 20 inches doors, do a test at home before reservation ... you've been warned -Disembarkation : very slow took 30 minutes to get off Now the good things The Grand Pacific dining room has the nicest decor we ever saw. The food is very good nic selection, some previous critics mentioned the food was sometimes cold ... be aware some entrees are served room temperature, unfortunately no mention in the menu. The cafeteria can get crowded rush hour, but not an issue, the food selection is more than enough. about specialty dining here's a secret ( a secret is an information you can tell only to one person at the time) no need to reserve, cuz if you are like me I never know in advance what to eat and where. Just walk to the maitre d"hotel of the specific restaurant around 5:30 on the same day, and request a table for exact time you want to eat .... 90% success. If you have a "specialty dining" package it is worth, I would not recommend to pay extra to eat in those restaurants. The entertainment is what you should expect on a cruise, level "B" nice selection of shows, not different representations every night. Some websites mentioned the ship has waterslides, which is not true. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was 10 day and covered 6 ports. I was originally on the Jade for the November 16th fiasco. This was my first cruise ever and the experience was just as the title suggest. 'Nightmare' I can start off my saying there is simply no thought process or communication. First port of San Juan we get back begin the to prepare for our shower when the captain comes over with a message that basically said " Cruise is over and have a great life" this caused complete chaos. The guest relations desk only had 1 person on staff at that time of night. That is where I first noticed the incompetence of this cruise line. You should know people are going to have questions so as you can imagine the line for that one person was about 200 deep. We were told originally there are 1 staff for every 2 guest. I know a lot of these are wait-staff, housekeeping etc. but there are enough staff on that ship that interact with people to have come up with a better game plan. They should have thought about this and typed up some documents with anticipated questions and answers and staffed at least a dozen or so staff at the guest relations station and surrounding area to assist the quest. Also there was never a clear communication of what was going to happen. The captain said everyone would have to be off by Tuesday but staff was informing that if you were not flown off prior to that day then they would not simply 'kick you off the ship' which is exactly what happened! You could as 3 staff members the same question btw and get 3 completely different answers. It was also communicated that your room number could be called and when it was you have to be packed and ready to go in 20 minutes so we could not even enjoy anything on the ship while we waited for our room number to be called or Tuesday to come. So when Tuesday did come we were part of a group that were treated like refugees and shipped to a convention center in San Juan. Also note that people on a cruise usually aren't packed to fly so a lot of people had 4 or 5 suitcases for a 10 day cruise. Norwegian and its 1 staff per 2 guest never offered to assist passengers off the ship down this dilapidated staircase in San Juan. We met an 80 yo man on his first cruise also "Children had paid to send him on it" No one helped the elderly or handicapped with their bags! No one! I had 5 bags or I would have tried. I have pictures of this BTW! To wrap this one up I was never reimbursed as promised I'd be! I live in Florida so I did not have a lot of expense once were flown back to Miami. We were sent a $99 check to cover, rental car 82.80, taxi service 12, gas for the rental 25.00, hotel deposit that night in Miami 50.00 and breakfast at Denny's. 16.96.I still have the receipts. Norwegian also closed my case. I also spoke to their guest relations Patricia Tamarit in February regarding Case # 02246443 and was told this was being looked into and was taken very serious! Still haven't heard anything from her. Again the great Norwegian customer service that we received on their ship! So we did the make up cruise March 1st. I went on with a bad taste in my mouth because I know I am sailing without a company that doesn't care. Bothered to offer me nothing btw, I'll be 100% honest I am used to doing business with local companies that offer you something with they know they dropped the ball. BTW Norwegian could have offered us an onboard credit, Free dinner at one of the upgrade restaurants, free excursion or something but they truly could careless about how you feel about them. March 1st my room looked like crap when we arrived. My mattress looked like a camel. The safe was not functioning and the numbers unreadable. They did replace the mattress and safe as I refused to leave the guest relations but of course as luck would have it my new suitcase was completely ruined. When it arrived to the room looked as if it had been sliced with a razor. I brought it down to the guest relations and was told to allow their "carpenter" to look at it. he would have it back in one day. 3 days later when it was returned to me it looked as if a 10 yo had attempted to spot glue 3 sections. I told the girl at the guest relations that I was unsatisfied with this. She got nasty and said " You can't expect us to make it brand new again!" I had the same thing happen it the Atlanta airport and was sent to customer relations where I filled out paperwork and was mailed a check. Norwegian did nothing for me. My loss once again for choosing Norwegian. I only rate them one star because I have to pick something. Their wait-staff or horrible. They bring you your food and you never see them again. When you go to the bar to get a refill of pepsi because the waiter is no where to be found, wait-staff like " Adinos" get nasty and tell you basically to go sit down. These rude people should not be allowed to work with public! I talked to the manager and he said " It'll go on his report card" not sure how many chances these people get to speak down to the public. I could go on about their ship but it would sound like bashing at this point. We met 3 out of 1000? decent staff on Norwegian Jade. Bottom line is stay away from Norwegian and if you don't and have a horrible experience then its on you. I have been asking for SOMEONE, ANYONE with Norwegian customer relations to call me. I have given 10 different people my number and they flat REFUSE! They DO NOT CARE! BTW Attempted to add photos is not allowing me to upload on this site.hmmmm Read Less

I cruised Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines and wanted to try another cruise line. I went with Norwegian Cruise Lines instead of Princess because it was going to 2 other islands that Princess was not, OK so lets talk about what went wrong! We noticed that in the beginning of our cruise, we were smelling sewage in the cabin hallway by our room. The cruise line, receptionist sent someone to spray a refreshsioner on the carpets, which only last for a few hours. We complained a half dozer times along with other passions. We smelled that for 10 days. Another problem was that the food was never hot, only warm. I sure it must be difficult to prepare for a thousand people but other cruise line can do it. The type or one can say menu in the buffet never changed. 10 days of the same thing. This reminds me of feeding our pets, the same thing each meal each day. I believe that Norwegian Cruise Lines must not of vetted the shore excursion vendors. Half of them did not care about their passions and did not give a history of the island on the sight seeing exclusions but instead played their music turned way up and just drove us from point A to point B. One of them even dropped us off at a shopping area and said they will be back in 2 hours, which we do not know what he did or where he went, but he did come back 2 hours later and drove us to another point of interest without and information of the island. After that, took us back to the ship. What a waste of money and time. The only positive rating I could give Norwegian Cruise Line is for their room stewards and the kitchen/galley help. Read Less

This was a great 10 day cruise. I'd only ever been on the Star but the Jade was very nice. I arrived in Florida a couple days before the ship left. I took Lyft to the port from my hotel in Fort Lauderdale and that went very smoothly. I arrived at the Port of Miami around 11:45am and there was absolutely no line to get checked in. I think I boarded around 12:30 or so. I went straight to the dining room for lunch. Delicious and quiet! Room was ready around 1:30 or so and my bags appeared around 3pm so all in all, embarkation was excellent! I had an interior cabin on deck 9 mid-ship all to myself and I requested that the beds be split apart which was done very quickly. This gave me a lot more space to move around. The room was fine; very clean. I could hear running water but I sleep with a small noise machine so it didn't bother me. The room steward, Xavier, was fantastic. Always greeted me by name, room was done very quickly. I only ate at the MDR for dinner (except one night, I ate at the Jasmine Garden). Food was fantastic! No complaints. Buffet was usually for breakfast and lunch if I was on ship. No complaints there either. I took most excursions with the ship since I had the Shore Ex credit. All were great. No complaints. All the ports were very nice. Getting on and off the ship very easy. The only thing the Jade lacked was an adults only section like the Star had with Spice H2O (which also had two hot tubs!) I wish there had been a place like that on the Jade. All in all, I really liked the Jade. And NCL is still a great cruise line. I had a wonderful time. Read Less

First cruise with Norwegian and first Caribbean cruise, leaving from Miami and visiting Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St Kitts, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Martin, hopefully the first of many. Embarkation process was good, there's often a little queuing to be done but chill, you're on holiday, so tell your face! We had an inside cabin which was more than adequate and the bathroom was bigger than some I've had on other ships. Our steward was great and the clever towel animals he left always made us smile! The food was amazing and more than enough choice in the included restaurants, so we didn't try any speciality dining. Our favourite was the Grand Pacific for ambience but the choice in the buffet was fabulous and great quality also. As we had a few early starts with excursions we ordered room service on a few mornings (included) which was a very welcome addition. They did make a few mistakes but these were rectified with a phone call. We bought the beverage package but it does NOT include the Starbucks coffee, so be aware. We found staff at all the bars to be friendly and helpful, especially Marcia in Bliss. Cocktails under $15 are included and as most of them were we enjoyed trying a few different ones! Entertainment was good, nothing spectacular, but good, apart from the "Las Vegas" singer singing Whitney Houston songs who I think would have been more suited to Tina Turner than Whitney! The aerial due were fantastic and I think I've seen them on another ship. We entered a few quizzes which were fun, but didn't play in the casino or bingo, which I thought was quite expensive at $39 for the smallest package! I did treat myself to some spa time, although I did think their prices very high, even for a cruise ship. I think the norm is about £1 (75c) per minute but their prices are more than double that. I did think their spa package was good value though, $219 for the week (about £24 per day) for the use of all the facilities - sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, therapy pool, relaxation beds, etc. We had booked an excursion at each port, again a bit pricey but not having been before thought it best. If visiting again however I would definitely make transport enquiries and explore myself. Enjoyed all the excursions bar St. Lucia Historical Island Tour which was very rushed and a waste of time really; the best by far was the Legendary Kon Tiki Beach and Sightseeing in St. Thomas, which was fabulous fun and not to be missed! My travelling companion was a cruise virgin and has already asked if I'd like to join her on another one next year - yay! another convert! She loved it and, like me, found nothing of note to complain about, so those that do are either extremely unfortunate, VERY hard to please or just miserable and looking for something to complain about! Norwegian Jade and this route definitely recommended! Read Less

Chose this cruise for the ports of call and the voyage delivered that, otherwise probably my least favorite cruise. The cabin was quite satisfactory and our steward Rendra was superb. We opted for a window cabin , not a balcony but bigger than a porthole. We were on deck 5 and I and recommend it as you have easy access to both of the sit down "complimentary " eateries (Alizar and Grand Pacific) and to the sally ports at each destination. The buffet (Garden Cafe) was always crowded and the menu changed very little day to day and it was just ok so we usually opted for the "complimentary " sit down cafes or Jasmine (Asian) or O Sheehans (pub food). Service at the cafes was good. The seafood dishes were not good and there were 2 that were inedible although the Fish and Chips at O Sheehans was good. Great Prime Rib one night at Alizar and consistently great at Jasmine (other than the shrimp) . Be aware though than the menus at all the "complimentary cafes did not change much and you will not see Lobster Night on the voyage in the "complimentary cafes. Another blow was the $8.95 service charge levied for all room service even just a pot of coffee in the morning. All in all food was satisfactory but the least desirable of any cruise I have taken, I found even Carnival to be better. Wifi was expensive and slow. We did not take any of the NCL excursions but did hear some complaints from other passengers about both the quality and the required shopping stops. If you are wondering about the quotes around the term complimentary its because i found the use of the word amusing seeing as how we paid for the voyage and these meals were included in the price. On the plus side the embarkation and debarkation process were the best I have done. The ship and service is good the food very average except for the Jasmine and O Sheehans which had some really good dishes,Fish and Chips and the hamburger at O Sheehans and the pot stickers, the hot and sour soup and the orange beef at Jasmine. ( The hot and sour soup was the best I have ever had) Read Less

The staff on the Jade were awesome. I feel that NCL provides excellent customer service anyway but this crew was top notch. The Cruise Director and CD staff were phenomenal. They were all high energy, funny, seemed to work well together and enjoy their jobs. The wait staff were all very attentive. We ate more meals in Alizar and O’Sheehan this cruise. The food choices in the buffet seemed limited. It seemed like the daily food items were the same each day. It would be nice to have the theme of the night put on the app to help passengers with meal planning. There is diversity in the options within the buffet (Asian, Indian, and American), however, I wonder why there is not a Mexican food option. I figure it would take a small amount of room to offer tacos, nachos, burritos, and fixings. I think it would go over well with the younger crowd that can be found on NCL. This was our first time at the Miami port for embarkation and disembarkation. I felt it was very organized and we got through both quickly. It seemed as if the rooms were ready and our bags to us in record time! The entertainment on this cruise was good. The comedian was hilarious! The shows were very enjoyable. There was a gentleman that performed with a guitar who was exceptional. We also enjoyed the C-Notes. Manilla Soul left a little bit to be desired. They played well but the singing was off. One of the singers continued to sing songs out of his range (using his head voice) and it was bad enough that I had to leave the area. Unfortunately, there were others I overheard complaining on the ship. There was a group that hung out for karaoke. It was disappointing that the song selection was very outdated. I also found it odd that with the great technology the ships have now that the Jade would have a very old karaoke system that was a stand-alone that could only display on one television. There was a big screen tv facing the audience and it would have been great to see the words displayed. We had three excursions this cruise and two of them were disappointing. We tried Sun, Rum and Salsa. We got put in another group because there was some walking and my husband has MS. The tour guide we were assigned to took the group up and down hills and walked continuously showing the guests where to go after the tour and where was not very safe. I am not upset that this tour guide chose to do that because it was helpful for the others. However, I had specifically asked if my husband’s disability was going to be an issue and was told the longest the walk would be was three blocks. Finally, the assistant tour guide took my husband and me to the bar the groups were meeting at. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done making it difficult for my husband to do much walking the rest of the cruise. My daughter and her boyfriend were over-heated and said the walk was difficult for them. The other excursion that was disappointing was one a beach break in St Kitts. We had been to St. Kitts the previous year and stopped a beach that was awesome. There were water toys available for rent, the beach was well kept and the bar/restaurant was very nice. We had thought we were going back to that location when we booked it. Unfortunately, the beach we were taken too had a run-down bar with an outdoor restaurant. However, it did not look like a place a health department would allow to serve food if here in the states. There were people constantly trying to get us to buy things and the little bit of water toys available were overpriced. My husband and I were unable to participate in our excursion in St. Lucia. However, our daughter still attended. The excursion was supposed to be going to a beautiful waterfall and swimming in and around it. My daughter brought back a picture of the waterfall that looked like something slightly more than overflow rain from a down spout. I suggest that NCL re-evaluate the excursions they are offering. My critique from last year’s cruise listed several ideas of how to improve the NCL app while on the ship. This year, I found the app to be a huge improvement, thank you! A few more ideas that would be useful is if you could favorite some of the activities and set a reminder so that you are not late or accidently miss it. I think it would be nice to have the theme of the buffet and special entrees from the complimentary restaurants listed daily with verbiage that it is subject to change. If NCL had the schedule of the day/night’s activities available on the app for more than 24 hours in the future, it would encourage passengers to use the app and cut down on paper and printing costs for the daily activities newsletter that is delivered to each cabin. It would also be one less thing the cabin stewards had to concern themselves with. Another item that would be great is to have the excursions for each port listed with a description and cost per person. Maybe eventually allow booking for the excursion from the app. I would also like to have the option to share account information with optional numbers. My husband booked our trip however, we use my phone when on ship. I could not see our on ship account because it was under my husband’s name and number. It is still difficult to know what time it is on the ship. It would be awesome to have the time displayed on the electronic screen in the elevators. It would also be awesome if during the day the view from the front of the ship was also displayed instead of a picture of the Jade (in the elevator). I did come down with pneumonia while on the cruise that peaked around day four out of ten. My husband and I did not go on excursion for our last three ports due to my health. The staff was very accommodating. I did have to eventually go to medical when I ran out of the meds I had brought. The medical staff was very thorough and got me on some new meds immediately. This was my first experience staying on the ship while others went to the port. It was awesome!!! I have told friends and family here at home to not feel sorry for me because I became ill on the cruise. I was at one of the best places I could have been. I got to lay out in 80 degree weather, I had someone cooking and cleaning for me, along with having food delivered to my room if I was too tired to go out. After the first night, the staff in O’Sheehan’s knew I was coming in for my nighttime hot toddy. Our cabin steward check in on me. I had it better than at home! (Although, I would not recommend becoming ill on your next cruise.) Not only do I appreciate the professionalism that NCL staff promotes and their ability to make you feel like “one of the family.” I also appreciate the perks that NCL offers and the opportunities granted to latitude members. We should be getting close to the platinum level. I always think when it comes time to fill out this survey that it would be awesome to have a job to cruise and give suggestions of improvements, give recognition on the things that are exceptional, and help improve on the areas that need it. Enjoyed the small ship of the jade. The port of Harvest Caye was nice except the beach was full of seaweed and the water was brown so we stuck to the pool. We got the cabana near the pool which was nice to have. It wasn’t busy at all, workers were friendly. Costa maya was a pleasant surprise. We rented a golf cart outside of the shopping area to go to the beac town of mahauel?. The golf cart company has a setup with a parking area and they took care of us by giving us a table and lounge chairs right in front of the beach. We stayed in room 4501. It was noisy because it’s near some mechanical room and you feel every wave hit, so not good if you’re sensitive to motion sickness. We paid for the thermal spa which was the best thing bc no one uses it. The weather at this time was amazing and the cruisers were mostly adults. We enjoyed it bc it was before the obnoxious spring breakers. Read Less

We went on this cruise with some of my wife's cousins, and we had a great time. Our cabin was fine, and we had a balcony so it was great to be able to look out over the water. Our cabin attendant was very nice, very professional. The staff on the ship were very friendly. I like the free style dining - there are lots of choices, and the food was very good. The entertainment at night was excellent. One of the dancing shows was phenomenal, and Lord Nil, magician/illusionist, was outstanding. Understand, that when you get to Belize, you are not going to the mainland unless you signed up for an excursion - you are actually going to an island owned by the cruise line, but the island was a lot of fun. They had a nice pool, a beach, and for a price, you could go ziplining (and it's really long extending over the water), parasailing, or you could go on a ropes course. And, of course, they had shops so you can spend some more of your hard earned cash! The next stop, Costa Maya in Mexico, offered a number of excursions. We took a 4 hour tour of Mayan ruins. Our guide, Frederico, was probably the most knowledgeable tour guide I've ever had. He seemed to know everything there was to know about the Mayan civilization. The ship had a nice fitness center with lots of treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and other equipment. They also have a card room where you can go to play cards or other board games. The ship also provides some daily puzzles like Sudoku, crosswords, and trivia. The trip was definitely worth the experience. The cruise was a lot of fun, I just wish it had lasted longer. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of price and ports. We got a deal that included three speciality dining nights, internet and drink package. That was great. Our aft balcony cabin was small but just what we needed. The speciality restaurants we dined in were good (Brazilian steakhouse, Italian and Japanese). Japanese was our favorite. The other restaurants were also good. The drink package included almost all top shelf alcohol so there were plenty of options. Didn't appreciate on day 5 finding out there was a time limit on "reserving" deck chairs (long story but the chairs I had our towels on weren't "unattended" as the pool workers thought). That should be posted somewhere. It worked out fine as there were enough chairs but it was annoying. Not generally a rule breaker so would have liked to know that day 1. Lounge entertainment was poor. Of the three acts (single guy with guitar, single guy piano player, husband/wife duo) the piano player was the best. The duo was unlistenable and actually caused us to leave the lounge they were playing in. The on ship highlight was far and away the staff that worked Magnums/Mixers. Matt, Sonya and that crew were so much fun!! We spent every night more entertained by them than any act. Exceptional service and fun fun people. Would love to have them on a future cruise. Biggest issue was trying to get thru customs at Key West. Instead of going by the groups we had been assigned, they announced all Americans to go through at once. They must do a better job. The line was unbelievable. Overall a great trip though. Aside from the couple things noted above we'd cruise on the ship again without hesitation. Read Less

DH and I have enjoyed every cruise we’ve taken since our first in 2007, whether with family, friends or just by ourselves. Until this time, we’ve always wished the cruise could last longer, even after a 12-night sailing. Our first time on NCL was several months ago with our six young adult kids (sons, niece and significant others). All of us had a fantastic time, so DH and I were really looking forward to this sailing. The ship was a nice size, laid out well and clean. The crew was friendly and hardworking, but there were fewer of them than needed. The officers were rarely seen, disorganized and generally seemed unconcerned with passenger comfort or convenience other than Haven guests. One big negative was a newly revised smoking policy that was unfair to both the smokers and those trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle at sea. The casino didn’t have any non-smoking areas that I found. Smoking was restricted to three small areas on open decks—forward decks 13 and 7, aft deck 7, all starboard. The walkers were forced to go between smokers at the narrowest part of deck 7!! For the record, I smoke but felt this was unfair to all passengers. Food was plentiful, but those who didn’t book specialty dining pre-cruise were out of luck unless in the Haven. Many, many unused tables on the three nights we ate in those restaurants because they were being held by Haven concierge according to a couple Haven guests. NCL purchased airport transfers and Customs clearance in Key West were both hot messes. Ship officers made the Customs process an absolute nightmare with a line that stretched twice the length of the ship!! In the hot sun. Will cruise again, but likely not with NCL. Read Less
