I chose the Celebrity Eclipse because I wanted to do its 3 back-to-back South America cruises. So it was the itinerary that was the draw. The ship is beautiful and comfortable.I cannot imagine how its upcoming renovation could make ir any nicer. The crew, from Captain Leo (probably the most visible captain in my cruising experience) to every person working onboard, was excellent....and genunely nice people. My personal favourite was the solo guitarist, Sashi, a charming young woman from Indonesia, with not only a beautiful voice, but also a beautiful personality. She's the whole package and my day was never complete without taking in one of her sets. I'm not really sure what else to add, but I can say that I could have stayed onboard forever. The cabin - and I just had a large inside cabin on the 9th deck - was comfortable, clean and well laid-out. The food at the Oceanview Cafe was a terrific buffet-style restaurant. And the in-house entertainers are so, so talented. This is the first cruise during which I took in every show. In sum, the Celebrity Eclipse has my highest recommendations. Read Less

One of our best cruises ever. We have been on 4 cruises with Celebrity, twice on Reflection and now twice on Eclipse. ANd this cruise was just amazing. The ship was perfect, the crew fantastic, great entertainment and from the top (Captain Leo and CD Gioseppe) to our cabin attendant etc. was top top noch. Food was great in Luminae and BLU and spec. restaurants. To all the hardworking people in the Martini Bar, Luminae, Michaels Club, Guests relation, FUTURE cruises, Murano, Qsine (Le petit chef), pool area, pool bar, entertainment, orchestra Ocean View Cafe, El Bacio Security people, THANK you so much for your hard work. You are the reason that we will continue to book Celebrity cruises. And to see RIO during carnival was fantastic - you really cant imagine how big it is, until you are there and discover it yourself. Think we might be back one day. Read Less

Couldn’t pass up this amazing deal to do an 11-day balcony cruise to 3 countries in South America, including 3 days at Carnival in Rio, for only about $950! The Eclipse was recently remodeled, and the rooms and public spaces are beautiful. We’ve done 45 cruises and Guiseppi, at only 26 years old was probably the best cruise director we’ve ever had. He really was made for this job. The captain was one of the most visible we’ve ever seen, attending many events and chatting with everyone. He gave great reports from the bridge twice a day. The theater shows and live music were of extremely high quality. We loved the dancers 4 singers and Cirque-quality acrobatics. Keep that up and we’ll be back lots of times. We love eating in the main dining room and our two waiters were great. Although the quality of the food is down the past few years, Celebrity still has the best dining room food of the standard cruise lines. We appreciated having lobster in the main dining room, even if only one night. Formal nights are gone, for better or worse. Stateroom attendant was very efficient and charming, though they need to replace those horrible do not disturb signs that always end up on the floor. Having great internet really makes a difference and I was more than happy to pay for it. Apple internet center was nice, but should be staffed more often. Beautiful library but need more travel books. The Captains Club host forgot to call us and never sent us info about special events, so we missed all of them. That needs to be much better organized. Would like to have booked a future cruise, but there never seemed to be anyone available, and when there finally was the promotion offered the first few days was over. A lot of folks complained about this and it was a real lost opportunity for the cruise line. Pool, gym and spa were all in the top 10%. The always seemed to be reducing the the buffet just as it got busy, causing long lines. We found it difficult to get a clean table and almost impossible to get a drink from anyone on the buffet level. Port staff was good, but the port terminals in South America were horrible, usually requiring long bus rides just to get from the ship to the terminal and back. Security staff were great. We loved being at Carnival. If you buy tix at right place, you can get decent seats for $19. Don’t pay $600 to get them from the ship. Unfortunately, Rio during Carnival is a difficult place. Everything is boarded up, including every ATM machine, due to roving wild crowds. Everything is closed and most tours are cancelled. We did find a reasonably priced tour to see Impanema, Copacabana, Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain. That and going to carnival added up to one wild day. But one day in Rio would have been enough. We never really felt unsafe, but it’s pretty wild vibe if you are over 30; even the locals don’t take their kids out. Unfortunately, the port at São Paulo is 2 hours each way from the city, too far to be practical for an excursion. But Santos port is a nice little city and trying hard to be fun for tourists. We really enjoyed the Coffee Museum, the Pele Museum and the trolley. Montevideo was fun and we did the free walking tour there. Buzios is the St. Bart’s of Brazil, but at 1/2 the price. Don’t pay for expensive ship excursions. Right at the tender port you can get a ship to take you to all 17 beaches with swim and snorkeling stops at three of them and a free drink for $15-20. Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve seen. Almost as nice as Paris, but cleaner and literally 1/4 the price. Do any of the free walking tours, which can be found on the internet. The Eclipse is a very happy ship and it shows. From the lovely staff who are proud of their ship who cannot do enough to help you to the very young Captain Leo whose 10.45 announcements we looked forward to. He is always ended with 'Life is Beautiful' and it certainly is onboard The Eclipse. Spotlessly clean especially our cabin which our steward Alistair looked after immaculately. Entertainment much improved from our other Celebrity cruises and the Cruise Director Guiseppe was great, truly funny and entertaining... Food great as ever - if you cannot afford the speciality restaurants then the Oceanview Cafe has super food and the main dining room very good, especially Cynthia the Maitre D. - she always tried to find us our favourite table. Antarctica and truly amazing and the talks on scenic cruising really helpful and well informed. It was good to have more sea days to really appreciate the ship and to relax. One slight nag is that WIFI is desperately expensive as are the tours....however, we shall always try and go with Celebrity as they seem to get everything right! Read Less

Choose this cruise specifically to see Antarctica and wildlife. We were not disappointed! Weather was great. Paradise Bay is an amazing place. Started out a little hazy but by noon sun was out and Penguins, Whales and seals galore. Great time in the Falklands at Volunteer Point. Chance to get up close to King Penguins, Gentoo and Magallenic. Celebrity speciality restaurants were great. Buffet was ok but seemed to have enough choices. Captain was amazing sailing so close to icebergs and keeping us in smooth waters. Service was great, will definitely look to sail Celebrity again. I wouldn’t recommend the premium drink package unless you plan to have 7-10 drinks a day. Was nice not to have to worry about most drinks but even with that package there are still some menu drinks that are outside the package. Cruise director was a hoot. Lots of energy. Lastly, our cabin steward was very attentive and went beyond every day. Read Less

Sailing to and from the same port of call is a great advantage to me. This time from beautiful and cosmopolitan Buenos Aires is a plus to this cruise. I live there! The celebrity Eclipse is a luxury ship with plenty is amenities for all tastes: fitness center spacious with many elements and sea view from all corners, live music all the day long in different locations, matinee shows on sea days and evening shows every night with international artists, indoor and outdoor pools and whirl pools, spa and Lersian garden to relax. Food is fantastic in all restaurants, main one Moonlight Sonata is huge. We had access to Blu the exclusive restaurant for Aqua Class passengers which was cozy and well attended by Nelly and all Blu staff. Buy sailing along Paradise Bay in Antarctica is the most fantastic experience I have had in my entire life! Put it in your bucket list!! The views are outstanding with a few huge whales and tiny penguins swimming along the ship. Ports of call are also worth visiting Ushuaia southern most city in the world, Falkland/Malvinas Islands, Puerto Madryn , Montevideo and Buenos Aires. Each has it beauty and charm. Read Less

After over 100 cruises with Celebrity, I am still impressed with the excellent service. I just keep thinking it couldn't get any better, but it always does. I have cruised all of the major cruise lines over the years. Basically, they all have the same cabins, pretty good food and beautiful ships, but Celebrity takes the first place award for the friendliest and most accommodating crew on the high seas. On the Eclipse, the cabin and common areas were always immaculate. When I hear guests complain about cruise ship food in general, just the tremendous variety in the Celebrity buffets should appeal to everyone's individual tastes and/or food requirements. The prime ribs and lobsters (my husband ate more than one) in the dining room were equal to some of the best restaurants on land and the presentation and servers of all their meals was 5 stars. There are always interesting guest speakers and many huge assortment of activities, although in recent years, I tend to read books and relax. I really enjoy the scrapbooking, painting and other creative activities in an atmosphere where I can talk and make friends with guests who have similar interests. There were many different areas on the ship at any given time, with live music to appeal to the different passengers. All talented and excellent. I just booked my next back to back cruises on the Constellation with Celebrity and I can't wait!!!! . Read Less

Booked this cruise because of a very attractive sale offer. Normally, most Patagonia sailings aren't round-trip from and to Buenos Aires. This one was and so had more sea days than usual. But it was still a superior itinerary compared to your typical Caribbean sailings. The Eclipse did reflect a "modern luxury" look. Getting around the ship was fine, despite only having two elevator locations instead of three. We enjoyed our cabin balcony view. Dining in the MDR was mostly hit, though there were some nights with nothing really good. I did appreciate the late night pasta station and made-to-order breakfast Omelet stations in the Oceanview Cafe. Excellent service from our cabin attendant Maria. We had the fixed early seating and our waiters Mardita and Nengah added a light and humorous touch to the experience, though it seems the ratio of passengers to waitstaff has increased. The cruise had a significant international mix of passengers. Almost all the passengers we encountered were polite or friendly, and we became great friends with two separate couples . Our cruise director Alejandro was terrific, as he was able to connect with passengers from all sorts of nations. The first few shows started on a somewhat negative note, with their volume being extremely loud. But Alejandro and company listened to the complaints and the volume was dialed down in subsequent shows. Really enjoyed Jordan Bennett and the tango show by Edgar and Pamela. During port days, a lot of the shipboard activities were scheduled while I was still in port, so I didn't get to partake as much in trivia as I wanted. The Eclipse had an excellent Destination Guide in Mickey Live. His port presentations were full of good information with minimal marketing. Our Captain Michael and the winds at Ushuaia blessed us with extra time in port, so we got to see the glorious Chilean glaciers in daylight instead of the wee early morning hours. It was the highlight of the cruise sailing in the narrow Beagle Channel with majestic mountains and glaciers very close to the ship. We were also very fortunate in making it to Punta Arenas and leaving just before the winds picked up there. Two major negatives, but not sure how much of it can be controlled by Celebrity. First is that the Buenos Aires cruise terminal is not really passenger-friendly. The terminal requires a bus shuttle service on a common street road to the actual dock. Embarkation took about 1.5 hours from getting a number to being on the ship. We had an overnight in BA, and the afternoon trip from the terminal back to the ship on sailing day took over an hour on the shuttle because of street traffic and a freight train and commercial trucks blocking the port entrance! Also, the tendering in our first port at Punta del Este was a mess, the wait time for us was about 3 hours. Good thing we didn't have a tour pre-booked. These negatives took place in the first 3 days of the cruise, but things went much smoother the next 11 days. So they ultimately had little impact to our fond memories of the cruise. Read Less

We were traveling with friends and my friend found the cruise. We had traveled on Celebrity before so we decided to go. We were concerned about the number of sea days but that was never a problem. There was plenty to do onboard. The staff was excellent from our room steward, Pablo, to the servers in the dining room and specialty restaurants. The entertainment was the best of any cruise we have taken. We love the live music and the shows. The ship’s public areas were spotless. The only problem we encountered was disembarking at ports. The wait was ridiculous with long lines waiting in hot corridors. There also was too little help for handicapped people getting on buses. Overall it was a great time. I would recommend it wholeheartedly. The food was very good especially in Murano’s specialty restaurant. Quisine was different and the food better than expected. It is more of a novelty restaurant. Chose this cruise because it was a Repositioning cruise to S. America. Spent 4 days in Barcelona, exploring the city and enjoying all that it has to offer. Embarkation was quite crowded, but the lines moved smoothly. We had outstanding service on the Eclipse, both cabin attendants and dining staff were attentive and very friendly. Cabins were adequate and were in excellent shape. Our cruise director Alejandro, was entertaining and involved with the Activities and entertainers. Throughout the ship, we experienced personnel that were motivated and always willing to assist. We chose Celebrity for an excursion in Lancerotta in the Canary Islands, not disappointed very interesting 4 hour tour of this Volcanic island. I was not impressed with the port in Santos, Brazil. Not worth the stop, I would recommend that Celebrity substitute Montevideo,Uraguay, more interesting. Very impressed with Cartagena, Spain and Buenos Aries, Argentina. I have been on 7 Celebrity cruises, this ranks near the top! Read Less
