Well where do start. I know how about Sunday morning at 7am where the crew was dragging some big item across the floor and banging with a large hammer. How about the disgusting smell at the elevator entrance that makes you want to commit. I realize it's a cruise and your not suppose to set in your room but maybe having more than 5 TV channels that repeat programming over and over. Now let me get to the main complaint. The food on this ship is horrible. Why do you only have one buffet that is a hodge podge of nothing. Why is it shut down multiple times a day. Why does the most popular thing in the ship the burger place close at 6 everyday. Even the Mexican place closes. If you choose to wait till after 6 to eat you either go to the nicer dining hall or eat the crappy buffet. Sorry I have been on other ships and this was not an issue. Even the nicer dining hall sucks! Our room was decent but that's about it. Rumor has it this ship is leaving and a different one is coming to Charleston. Hope so because if not this is my families last one. Oh one last thing. My wife can occupy herself and have fun about anywhere but she is bored out of her mind because there is nothing to do on this boat. Be warned, drive on down the coast and get on a other boat. This was our second cruise (cruised on the Magic last year), and we were prepared after reading reviews and watching videos- for the fact that this is an older, smaller ship. Plain and simple- your cruise is what you make it. Yeah, there were some weird smells in the mornings. Yeah, it was a little rocky the first night (it's a boat). We actually enjoyed a smaller ship. We could walk the whole thing, there was way more outdoor and indoor seating than the Magic. The buffet food was okay. If you don't like anything on the buffet, go eat at Guy's or get a pizza; it is always good. Breakfast and desserts were great, we ate in the dining room twice. There wasn't quite as many activities during the day, we got some books and read a lot. We were on the Ecstacy for 8 days and had a great time. Kyndell Fire was our CD, she and the Fun Squad did an amazing job and brought the best energy. Because of the reviews, we were a little nervous about the Charleston port and had only sailed from Orlando. We were very pleasantly surprised. It was easy to find, the staff/security/drivers and porters were super efficient and friendly! Embarkation was super fast with no confusion. We went from our car to the boat in like 20-30 minutes. This included the shuttle, check in and all. We boarded an hour and a half before our scheduled time with no issues. Debarkation was also smooth. We were on Deck 4 and were able to leave before our scheduled deck time, staff had designated elevators and it was easy and fast. The cabin was bigger than we expected. Im not sure how we ended up with 2 pull down beds, but we didnt need them. Room was clean and steward was super nice. We visited St. Maarten, San Juan, and St. Thomas. We didn't have any excursions booked when when we boarded. We went to a presentation with Kyndell and they went over the excursions offered- we ended up booking two and I'm so glad we did! We did the Kon-Tiki party boat in St Thomas (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and the top 10 Best of St Maarten. The ports were beautiful! While we are looking forward to cruising on the Sunshine out of Charleston next time, we have good memories on the Ecstacy. Read Less

The ship was built in 1991. This wouldn't be relevant except for the fact that the whole ship stinks. In every area during any time of the day or night there would be a sewer smell. In our cabin, off and on there would be the smell of a skunk smoking a cigarette. No kidding. Distinct skunk smell pumped in through the air conditioning vent. We were on the 11th floor and still had the sewer smell coming up through our drains in the bathroom. The food was so far below par too. I've never had such bland cold food. I think I actually lost weight on this cruise. We have never rocked and rolled so much either. The ship shudders and shakes more than the others I've been on. There were a lot of sick passengers. The staff was very good. No complaints there. The shows were good too. Will never sail on this ship again. Read Less

So, I did an 8 day trip to St. Thomas, St. Maarten and San Juan. I was very hesitant on this because it was 1. My first cruise 2. I was going solo and 3. All the negative reviews. I did it anyway. One thing I learned, people will gripe if you hung them with a new rope. Was there a smell? Yes, it was hardly noticable. Did the ship list and rock? Yes, the best part about the whole trip was the rocking me to sleep. I will be going on this ship again, it's small enough to be able to walk without getting worn out but big enough to hide from the world. Don't get stuck in the negative. It is a vacation, things will happen....as is life. Take the trip. Enjoy the uniqueness of the ship. Repeat. The food was outstanding save for being lightly seasoned (bring garlic salt). Tacos were spot on, Guys burger excellent. Entertainment options got sparse during the 2 day haul back to port, but who cares, hang out on the deck and enjoy the sun. All of my excursions were cancelled due to weather, or no interest. No big deal, made my own excursions. Get the drink package. Fruity drinks are $10 plus, coffee $3 plus. I would suggest to get an interior room, I didn't spend much time in mine. Embarkation was speedy enough, debarkation was like hearding cats. Ship was clean, always. They were constantly cleaning, painting, shampooing and vacuuming carpets. I have only one complaint.....wanted to stay a few more days. Read Less

This was our first cruise and Ecstacy sure did set the bar high. From the moment my 11 and 8 year old boys seen the ship till the last day unloading the excitement never stopped. Kyndall Fire was our CD and she was amazing. She interacted with all the kids, danced with them and of course for one last time, unloading, had to say, BYEeeeeeee ok bye, to my boys. They loved her. Boarding was a breeze. Not knowing what to do at customs, they were amazing in assisting us. The food was absolutely incredible. Highly suggest the burger joint. Our room steward, I Made, no his name is not pronounced the way it is spelled but anyways, he was amazing. Asked our name one time and never fumbled the whole time. Always had our room cleaned and amazing towel animals made which also excited my kids. The water slides were a big hit for the boys along with putput and a huge chess game. The entertainment was off the chain. Amazing staff and performers. So would have paid more for this trip without a hesitation. If you were board, or your room was dirty and smelly its because you stayed in your room. Thank you Carnival Ecstasy for making our week an unforgettable one. BYEeeeeeeeee! Ok bye. Read Less

Chose this cruise due to its close proximity to our home. I wish beyond wishes I would have read reviews before booking. As soon as we walked on boat my husband and I looked at each other in horror. The smell is so overwhelming. Complete and utter sewage smell ALL the time. The boat felt so unclear as it is outdated, old, rusty etc. I could barely sleep...it felt like I was sleeping in an RV camper and I HATE camping. We were so bored...had 5 kids with us and hardly any activities, overcrowded pool etc. Our 3rd stop was supposed to be half moon cat which is the one place I could not wait to go and the captain determined the waves were too high so we could not get off boat. While I appreciate them keeping us safe the thought of staying on that boat for one more sea day made me cry. I woke up with a migraine every night from the boat rocking my head up and down so hard every night. I will say the staff was absolutely incredible and made our trip somewhat enjoyable. They deserve a medal for living with that sewage smell and The constant rocking of that ship. NEVER AGAIN!! Read Less

Seemed the bars were always understaffed, wait time could be long. Not sure why they would wait for your pizza order before they would make a pizza, line was long and they made pizza when you ordered It instead of a pizza buffet. Daycare was great, my 3 year old loved it! this was a great kid cruise other than the smell and swaying. I would take Carnival again but not this boat. I also didn't like the drink package, it was time consuming having to provide a drink card so they could swipe it and you had to sign a ticket afterwards, I prefer the all inclusive "free at Sea" cruises, NO Hassle! The Charleston port was kinda dingy as well compared to other ports but we could drive there saving on the costs of flights. But the drink package as about the same as our flight cost would have been so that's a wash. Read Less

Chose this cruise because it was 5 days and at a port not too far from where we lived. Easy drive. Embarkation went smoothly. Cabins weren't ready until 1:30pm so we went to Lido Deck buffet. When we got to the cabin, our room attendant came in and asked us when we wanted our room made up. Morning, afternoon or night. We chose morning. That means they don't appear again till the next morning. Surprise. No more evening turn down. The ship, the Ecstasy, is old. And it shows. Outdated d├ęcor, so much paint, you can count the layers. The ship smelled bad, especially afternoons and evenings. Other people commented on that too. We were on the 4th floor. It smelled like a nursing home. We ate the first two nights in the dining room. We had dine when you want. We were seated promptly. The first night we ordered salmon. Overcooked as was the baked potato. The food was not hot. The second night we had prime rib. It was okay, but again it was cold. The other nights we ate in the buffet. The food was at least hot up there. The best thing about the food was the desserts. They were great. Guy Fiery's hamburger joint was also good. We have been on many cruises and always looked forward to lobster night. Well, no more, That will cost you $20. I also got a glass of wine the first night. $11. I can buy 2 bottles of wine for that. The entertainment was good. Their private island is beautiful. We didn't take any excursions from the ship. Too expensive. You can arrange sightseeing off ship for a lot less. Overall, we were very disappointed with the condition of the ship and activities. Thank God they had a place where adults could go. IT's at the back of the ship. Disembarkation went smoothly. Read Less

This ship is small, outdated, and poorly kept. Stateroom feels like staying in an old camper. We experienced a disgusting septic backup in our bathroom and guest services refused to offer anything other than a credit for a $50 bar tab. Beds and bedding are cheap and uncomfortable. Ship was cold with no heat available in room. No specialty restaurants are available. The food offerings are repetitive and boring. Free drink selection was limited to water, coffee and rancid tasting "tea." No indoor pool or solarium available in case of inclement weather. The outdoor pool, hot tubs and sundeck are ugly and overcrowded. The onboard shops were very limited and tacky. Very limited tv options in room. Other than the Atlantis excursion in Nassau, there is nothing to see or do in either Nassau or Freeport. I will not ever sail with carnival again. We were very disappointed in the condition of the ship and the ports of call. Read Less
