We love Celebrity. We enjoy the Soltice class ship. We did our first back to back and it couldn't have been easier. The crew was especially accommodating. My wife left her room card and drivers license at the cafe as we were going to a special event. Next thing we knew, it was delivered to us at the event. We had a toilet overflow and they totally took care of it immediately and made it better than originally. They followed up to be sure it was handled to our satisfaction. Our room Stewart was attentive to a fault. He had to search for a proper pillow for me for 3 days even though I was satisfied the first time. The food in the main dinning room was good as always and the service was great. We ate at 2 of the specialty restaurants and really enjoyed that. The folks in the cafe were great and treated us wonderfully. The Captain is the First Lady to captain a Celebrity ship and she's very approachable and has a great sense of humor. The hotel director broke into song at a senior officers event and could easily make a living singing. All in all, we had a relaxing wonderful two weeks and got away from the snow and cold of Pittsburgh.. Read Less

The crew was amazing, welcoming and helpful! The food was plentiful (especially in the Silk Harvest restaurant). The entertainment was above average for a cruise ship. We really enjoyed the glass blowing and came home with our own creations. We also toured the bridge and got to meet Captain Kate's cat named "Bug". The tour was interesting and I would recommend it to others. The only complaint we had was the cabin noise. I don't understand why a solution can not be found to lessen the noise from the restaurant above. I hope that is addressed when the ship goes into dry dock. With the expense of a cruise and especially upgrading to a suite, one does not expect to have to listen to that while trying to sleep at night. In summary, we had a great time and while no cruise is perfect, we would do it all over again - just in a different cabin! Read Less

Embarkation was smooth and fast. Celebrity asks you to board at different times based on your deck, so less crowding. We went Aqua class for the first time and are glad that we did. Dining in Blu was wonderful. Much faster than eating with 1000 people in the main dining room. Service was great, food delicious. No reservations needed, most nights, no wait for a table Well worth the extra cost. Oceanview cafe was very good. Always super clean, good selections. The last sea day had an amazing selection of desserts. Pizza was excellent. Also, the aqua class cabins are on deck 11, right under the pool deck so the balcony is under a large overhang and is completely shaded (which is what we like). Ports were good. We booked our own excursions ( check out trip advisor or cruise critic destination section for recommendations- generally smaller groups, better pricing) Entertainment was good. Every member of the crew that we interacted with did a great job. Would highly recommend celebrity for an upscale , fun, relaxing week. Read Less

After cruising with Princess three times, we decided to try Celebrity. The Equinox is a smaller and older ship compared to the Royal & Regal Princess. Overall the ship was in good shape. It is apparent that they are letting some routine maintenance items go since the ship is going into dry dock later this spring. Our biggest issue with the ship was the pool area. The outdoor pool area is small and the chairs around the pool area are placed with no room in between them. The walking/running trail on the upper level of the pool deck had chairs infringing on the walk. The indoor pool area was no where near at capacity. The grass on the top deck is a unique feature, but there is a lot of wasted space. The entertainment on our week long cruise was lacking. Only one production show. The cruise director Simon, was very energetic but not very visible around the ship. We found the number of activities and the selection of musical entertainment was significantly less than what we were used to with Princess. The waiters and bartenders were excellent. We found the quality of the food in the main dining room comparable to Princess. However, we were not pleased with the buffet. The layout is very confusing and there is no traffic flow during busy times. The buffet food quality was just ok. As far as deserts, the best thing on the ship were the cookies and the ice cream. The other deserts were very bland. During our entire cruise, we were constantly approached during breakfast and lunch about booking specialty dining. We did have one dinner at Murano, which was excellent. We were never approached by any photographer or spa person during our week long cruise, which is not the case on Princess. Captain Kate was very visible during the cruise. Her morning updates which included trivia were very enjoyable and she was on the gangway shaking everyone's hand as they left the ship. We did have a bad experience on an excursion, and Celebrity handled the situation appropriately. We would definitely consider sailing with Celebrity again but Princess will still be our go to cruise line. Read Less

Found the ship really nice. Was my first cruise so nothing to compare against. Several people told me that the bar was now set pretty high now. We were in cabin 6129. Remember the water bottles on the bar and items in the mini fridge are not free. I took them out right away and put stuff we brought in there. Replaced the original stuff before we left. I am a coffee drinker. Frankly that was the worse thing about the ship. The coffee is not very good. In the Oceanside cafe it’s horrid. The only good coffe there is the one station as you head to the aft deck. In the main dining room it’s ok. For room service ( morning coffee ) don’t bother. Everything else was great. Bartenders really are not impressive. I get it they are not tipped by the drink etc but they could stand a bit more personality. Over all wonderful first cruise. Like everything, don’t believe all the flash in the ads but it felt classy. Read Less

This was our first Celebrity cruise, and we are now sold on Celebrity. We loved the ship, it was not too big, very easy to find our way. The Celebrity app on our phones helped with scheduling and navigating. We were in cabin 8293, and our friends were in 8295, so we were able to have the divider on our balconies opened up. Our cabin had plenty of space, and ample storage. We were close to the elevators. We only ate in the main dining room, and the food was fabulous! There was never a disappointment, and our waiter and assistant were wonderful. They anticipated our needs. I'm gluten-free, and they automatically had gluten-free bread for me, and advised on menu choices. The service on this ship is excellent! Our room steward was great. We enjoyed the entertainment and saw a great movie. There was a glass-blowing class, and a beautiful lawn on the top deck. We went to a presentation on Faberge eggs, and learned a lot about them. When we arrived in St. Thomas, our ship was bumped from the pier, so we had to tender in. This was an inconvenience, it took a long time to get off the ship. We didn't get off the ship in Punta Cana, since it would take a taxi ride to see anything. Nassau was in terrible shape, we were warned not to wear jewelry and watch our wallets. Sidewalks were missing bricks and you really had to pay attention to avoid tripping. We didn't feel safe. We took a sea and land tour of San Juan, and it was very informative, loved it. Embarkation was good, and we were greeted with glasses of champagne when we boarded. Disembarkation went fairly smoothly, just waiting for your number to be called. I would recommend this ship wholeheartedly. Read Less

Celebrity to us is EXCELLENCE. The only issue is that there was a private function going on-board at the time -- 800 people. We had asked about this prior to leaving, but the Celebrity rep said there was not a function going on, which obviously was not true. We were a bit inconvenience at times. But overall, service was generally very good, with very good entertainment. We loved both comedians, as well as the guest group UpTOWN which were a MoTown type of act. The cuisine is 2nd to none as always. Leaving out of Miami saw a much OLDER crowd that were were used to, even on Celebrity cruises. As age 52, my wife and I felt like we were the youngest on the ship! Captain Kate, the first female of a cruise vessel, was awesome -- it is great how she gets out and interacts with the passengers on board. Read Less

Our second cruise aboard the Equinox and we weren’t disappointed. The staff, the food and cabins are all amazing. Captain Kate certainly leads by example and it was lovely seeing her around the ship on a daily basis. We upgraded to Aqua Class this time but to be honest we found that Concierge Class on our last sailing was just a good. We didn’t use the Persian Garden but we enjoyed Blu although the main dining room is every bit as good. The buffet was also exceptional with a great variety of food for every taste. I would not hesitate in recommending the Equinox and her itinerary and will almost certainly be Looking to sail on her again when she comes back from being revolutionised. We are booked to sail on the Constellation, Millennium and the Summit next so it will be interesting to see the difference in ships. I’m sure we won’t be disappointed. Read Less

It has become an annual winter tradition for us to escape the harsh Maine winter for a week aboard a Caribbean cruise. In January 2018 we had cruised Celebrity for the first time aboard the Summit. We fell in love with that ship, however it was scheduled to go through the Edgefication retrofit during our normal cruising window, so it wasn't available. We decided for 2019 we would give Equinox a go on an Eastern Caribbean itinerary. We stayed in Miami the night before at the new Hilton Garden Inn near the cruise terminal, which is a great place to stay by the way. Embarkation was a very smooth process, honestly probably one of the best. We were sailing Aqua Class. We arrived at the recommended time provided ahead of time by Celebrity, and I'd say from the time we were in line until we were on the ship itself was probably no more than 10-15 minutes. Once aboard, while waiting for the rooms to open up, we did the usual scoping out of the ship to see where everything was. I don't know if it's because we aren't as novice cruisers anymore, or if it's the layout of the ship itself, but it seemed very intuitive, like it all just made sense, so it wasn't too hard to find anything. Our 2018 cruise had been a repo cruise with a super low price so we had splurged on a Sky Suite, so I was a little concerned "downgrading" to an Aqua Class room would be a disappointment, and I can honestly say it really wasn't. The room itself is smaller, mostly it's because it is narrower, but we still had a balcony and it has the same amount of seating. Storage wasn't really an issue either. We managed to store all of our clothes and belongings just fine. (Pro-Tip, use the space under the bed to store luggage!) The jet panel in the shower was great! The Aqua Class rooms come with a couple of great perks. One is the private dining room for AC guests, Blu. Now I'll be honest and say overall I think Luminae is ultimately the best dining experience of the two. But, Blu was a very excellent dining venue. We ate exclusively there every night. Quality of food is excellent. Maybe not quite as high-end fancy as Luminae. Staff at Blu were friendly and provided excellent service. It never ceases to amaze me how the wait staff can remember names and preferences when they serve so many people. Definitely a wonderful Aqua Class perk. The other perk I loved was free, unlimited* access to Persian Garden. Persian Garden is the thermal spa. What you will see pictured on the website is the semicircle of heated, tiled loungers. And those are great, but on either end you have a thermal, dry, herbal suite and on the opposite side an herbal steam room. There are also a couple of showers that have "tropical" and "spring" rain settings. In the changing rooms you also have wood saunas. On the Solstice class ships like Equniox, the thermal room is positioned so you can see the ocean. All the while relaxing ambient music is playing. I enjoyed visiting PG every day. (* PG of course has certain hours, and occasionally due to demand, guests would be asked to limit their use of PG to 20 minutes) The itinerary itself was great. For us, the only new stop was Punta Cana, although due to winds and rough seas, we ended up going to Samana instead. We had a great excursion there which included a tour of some caves with cave drawings and petroglyphs, as well as seeing native wildlife. In Puerto Rico we opted to just explore Old San Juan on our own by foot and using public transportation, which included a stop at the big fort. In St Thomas we did the Secret Sands excursion that we did in 2018 on Summit. This is a great, quiet beach on the other side of the island. It's part a national park in St Thomas. Finally in Nassau we did the Blue Lagoon beach excursion which was a very nice beach day. Other ship areas and amenities we experienced during our cruise. We really enjoyed the Solarium on Equinox. It doesn't have the thalassotherapy pool like is on Summit, but we enjoyed the standard pool there just the same, as well as the hot tubs. Seating was plentiful and we generally didn't have a hard time getting seats. One minor complaint is they seem to put all of the towels away in the later evening hours, even while the pools are still open. Now, the outdoor pool area is another story. We spent one afternoon of one of our sea days there, but it took some persistence and checking back to be able to land a couple of loungers. Back to the Solarium, the Aqua Spa Cafe was great. We enjoyed this venue on Summit for a light breakfast or lunch. Pretty much the same on Equinox and having it there in the Solarium is great. We mostly had lunches at the Oceanview Cafe. As cruise buffets go Celebrity tends to have the best selection and quality of offerings. Seating can be challenging depending on when you go. I'm sure there are some other details I'm forgetting, but overall it was a magical cruise vacation. We did book our 2020 cruise aboard which was great as we ended up with extra OBC for the next cruise, along with the 4 free perks as we are going back to the Sky Suites for our next cruise. The disembarkation process was mostly good. The biggest issue is that instead of having luggage in different numbered sections, the terminal used those carousels like used at the airport. The problem is your bag is amongst hundreds of other bags, it took a long time to wait for our bags to come out, and the signage was a bit confusing. But once we had our bags, we breezed through customs. I would highly, highly recommend Equinox to anyone considering a Celebrity cruise. It was easily one of our best cruises yet. It's the ship, but it's also the amazing, friendly, and expert service of the crew. When it comes to cruising, no one does it better than Celebrity. Read Less

We(26m/25f) really enjoyed this cruise. This was our second celebrity cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation went fast and smooth, not much waiting at all. I was kind of expecting the entertainment to be lacking due to some other reviews I read, but we thought it was great. The on board singers/dancers/acrobats were amazing! We went to all their shows and were amazed at every one. I particularly liked Elysium the best! The magician, juggler, and Jane Curry were also awesome to watch! We missed the motown group, but heard they were great. Cruise Director Dan was awesome and had some hilarious one liners. The full moon white pool party was great fun. We tend to eat in the ocean view more then anywhere else, so can't comment on the food too much. There was lots of options and the desserts were endless. I do wish they had oven roasted chicken breast every night though!! Our cabin was always kept clean, twice a day. Our cabin steward was great and very helpful. In San Juan we walked to both forts, cathedral, and to the umbrella street. Got some great pictures. In St Thomas we took a shuttle that cost $10 ea to Magens Bay, which was a beautiful beach. Punta Cana was cancelled as I expected it would be due to weather. We went to Samana instead which I was happy about. We paid $120/pp for a ziplining excursion through celebrity, which was very fun. In Nassau we did the dolphin encounter and beach day on blue lagoon island. This is a very beautiful island that I will be visiting again. Overall very happy and booked our next cruise while on board. Hope it's the same entertainment! ;) Was very disappointed to return to -30 degree Celsius temps back home. Read Less

We booked this particular cruise as we are a bit older, and like our cruises to be a bit more relaxed, not the constant party like some other cruises. The service was top notch, our room steward (Jorie) was one of the best we have had in the eight cruises we have been on. Regi in the dinning room was also exceptional, when something wasn't 110% he made sure it was brought up to his exceptional standards. He always had fantastic recommendations, and brought small samples for the table to try. The gang at the Martini Bar, World Bar, and Sunset Bar were also very accommodating. As we had C-3 concierge staterooms our embarkation was very fast, less than 10 minutes from security to ship. Debarkation was also very quick, maybe twenty minutes from waiting in the dinning room to the shuttle. Kudos to the Celebrity team. We also took advantage of the Future Cruise and booked Celebrity Summit for 2021. We do not find Celebrity to be the best when it comes to entertainment, and shows. The two we did catch were very good. We saw the late night comedian and a matinee show with a singer( Julie ?) Read Less

Great cruise, it was a part of a "family gift" on occasion of my parents-in-law's wedding anniversary. Everything went smooth, from the booking to the debarkation. Embarkation in Miami was trouble-free, luggage was delivered as expected. Onboard activities were satisfactory and excursions were mainly value-for-money. The itinerary was changed a bit, we visited Samana instead of Punta Cana in Dominican Republic, due to adverse weather. We were scheduled for a dune buggy excursion in Punta Cana, which we were looking forward to, but luckily we could book an ATV excursion in Samana at no additional cost - that excursion turned out to be the best of all the excursions I was on. MDR was fantastic, in general all the food places were great. My girlfriend and I both had the premium non-alcoholic drinks package, which meant that virtually anything non-alcoholic (including virgin cocktails) was available. I personally feel like I didn't use the package to its full value, but that's totally my own fault, I probably should have taken the soda package instead. We didn't really use/see any entertainment activities onboard, we were in the casino one night, because all guests got a free 5$ casino credit, and my mother-in-law managed to win 120$ on her first 2$ spin on the slots - so I guess you could call that a success! The ship itself was great, this was our first time cruising so I don't have anything to compare with, but the ship didn't feel ten years old. We already booked a new cruise on Equinox in January 2021, same stateroom as this cruise, so we are looking forward to see how much is changed with the "Revolution". All my best recommendations for this cruise! Read Less

We were 7 people and were all satisfied. The weather was fantastic and the sailing went well. We loved the restaurant dedicated to Aquaclass passengers only as it was more quiet than the main dining room and the personnel was more attentive since they recognize you because they have less guests to take care of. Our cabin was spacious and well maintained. We would definitely recommend the Equinox and would go back any time! The itinerary was also very good as we only had two sea days, one at the beginning of the trip and one at the end of the trip. We visited Key West, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Grand Cayman island. All very nice and fun to see. Can't wait for my next cruise on the Serenade of the Seas and the Summit! Read Less

I was looking forward to this post-holidays getsway. Weather was cooperative all week. I chose to stay on the ship rather than venture off in Grand Cayman/Mexico because the excursions offered did not excite me; I wanted to take advantage of the ship’s amenities and resort feel, instead. No regrets in that department. This particular cruise attracted an older crowd (which I liked) than the same cruise in December a friend took and despised because there were many 30-40 year olds who partied loudly, apparently. My January cruise likely averaged 60 years old so it was an enjoyable experience on sea days-everyone having a fun time without craziness. The Aqua Class cabin on deck 11 was lovely and spacious. Celebrity always does a goodjob about providing good amounts of storage space. The balcony was also spacious (two chairs, ottomans and a table). Although there was an overhang from the pool deck above, you could still get plenty of sun during the day if you chose to sit out there and see valuable amounts of the horizon. My cabin attendent, Belvin, was terrific and took great care of my cabin and my comfort. The only ‘bumps’ I ran into was food-wise. The daily hors d’oer es brought to the cabin each afternoon were unappetizing and lacked toothpicks to eat it/sample it. I was not about to dig my fingers into potato salad, marinated olives, guacamole, etc each day. Blu dining room offered great service and management (Linda), but the menus were lacking creativity for the most part. Best menues there were on the first and last nights. Dinner in Murano was disappointing because the frisee salad was not ‘dressed’ as described and the sea bass was tasteless and dry. Even the mashed potatoes were inedible-very dense and flavorless. Dessert was very good, however, and we brought a bottle of champagne from our cabin to dinner to enjoy with that course. Overall, I have to say this was not an enjoyable meal and certsinly not worth the extra $50-there was nothing special about this dinner experience. The Oceanview Cafe buffet lunches were quite good. Had dinner there one night which was an exasperating experience-I chose the fresh fish-made-to-order area but the expeditor was disorganized. People didn’t know where the line formed, orders were taken randomly, grilled fish tended to sit and get cold for some. Plus, no fresh lemon to add to your plate. This area needs work-it is a great idea and I was looking forward to my entrees but my particular experience took away the pleasure of eating there. On a positive food note, the Mast Grill on 14 was reliably great, as was lunch in the Silhouette dining room where you could get a nice salad and glass of wine served in a gorgeous Reidel glass. Service there was hectic but well done, just the same. Officers were very visible which I like to see. Live music, however, left much to be desired. The rock band was LOUD and as a result, many cruisers left the pool when they were to appear. A duet of two women in Ensemble Lounge sang terribly off-key every evening, so we took our cocktails in Sky Lounge for the final four nights of our cruise. Read Less

We arrived at Miami port to a very smooth check in process. We were on the ship within 15 minutes. Stateroom We had a balcony stateroom which was well appointed. The bathroom is a little bigger than other lines we have sailed on. Crew Every single member of the crew that we came across on our cruise was highly professional and very friendly. The restaurant staff in particular made our cruise all the more enjoyable. Food We ate in the Sioloutte (main dining room) most evenings. On the whole the food was of a very high standard. They also serve al a carte breakfast (at no extra cost) if you do not wish to go to the standard buffet. The ship has a number of speciality dining restaurants, we tried Murano which was excellent. The speciality dining is quite expensive though. The Ship/Amenities The ship is well appointed in all areas with some outstanding feature rooms. It really is luxurious. The ship has all the normal activities and facilities that you would expect. It is probably aimed at a slightly older crowd, they do have facilities for children but there are no water slides etc. Overall We had a fantastic cruise, and would definitely recommend the Equinox. Get ready for my all over the place, rambling review! We sailed on Equinox last year for a 3 day cruise. I really wanted to try the Celebrity brand and we just fell in love. Previously we cruised Carnival and Princess. This was our 5th or 6th cruise. I'm in my 40's, BF is in his 60's. Flew in the Friday before since weather in PA/Baltimore can be iffy in January. Took SAS Transportation ($15/pp) from FLL to downtown Miami. Got a room at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Miami on Priceline for $115. Regular price was $269+. Got two doubles instead of a king but that was no big deal. The Hyatt is beautiful. We went to Whole Foods that evening for dinner and got cheap wine to take on board at CVS, both within a block of the hotel. Ubered ($5 plus tip) to port the next day, around 11. Waited maybe a half hour in line to check-in and then we were onboard. Love that welcome glass of champagne. Headed up to Oceanview Cafe. Absolute zoo the first day, as are first day cruise lunches. Muster drill was in the Silhouette dining room so at least we got to sit. Year before it was in the photo area and we had to stand for over an hour. Dorky video, same as year before. We had a partially obstructed balcony cabin on the 6th floor. It wasn't too bad, the lifeboat takes up maybe 2 feet of your viewing area at your feet. Rooms definitely need renovations. Worn carpets, beat up fixtures, etc. Bathroom nice and big. I was NOT happy with our Steward. First day he came and introduced himself and immediately started talking about the mini-bar. Last year we didn't take inventory of what was in the fridge when we first came on board and we were charged for things that weren't there to begin with. So learning our lesson, we took inventory first thing this time and it must of offended the steward. He kept going on and on about how if we went to Customer Relations to get charges reversed, it would come out of his pocket. Uncomfortable. He also was very adamant about the fact that he was done by 9pm every evening. We always take late dinner and like to have wine and get ready in the room before that. We found ourselves leaving the room earlier and earlier each day to get out of his way. We had to tell him several times that we were on late dinner. It felt like he was constantly intruding. Our room keys stopped working several times. I am an afternoon napper, while my boyfriend liked to run around visiting the bars. If his room key stopped working and the line at Customer Relations was too long, he'd just knock to have me let him back in the room. One evening I was napping and heard a knock. I groggily got up to let my BF in the room (sans clothing, mind you) and the Steward walked in. AWKWARD. Good thing I am becoming less modest in my old age. Lastly, the set of toiletries on day 1 were never replenished on the 7 days we were onboard. We had to ask for soap! And why doesn't Celebrity have ice/ice buckets?? That would have been nice. The room wasn't kept the cleanest either. I know these guys and gals work hard and long hours, really I do. I usually give them extra cash (on top of the ship gratuities) at the end of the cruise. I didn't this time. The food in the main dining room was AMAZING. Other than appetizer sushi rolls at Sushi on Five one evening, we ate in the MDR every night. Yes, the portions can be laughably small. After eating all day, I'm fine with smaller dinner portions. Plus more room for cocktails and dessert. Service was amazing, loved our waiter and assistant waiter. Wine guy and bar guy were great too. We were probably the only two people on board without a beverage package. I only drink 1 or 2 drinks a day on vacation, once a year. The beverage package didn't seem worth it. I would tip an extra dollar or two on top of the 18% automatic gratuity on our drinks and that gave the servers extra incentive to check on us and refill drinks. Last year in the Martini Bar, it was impossible to get a drink. This year, two Martini Bar servers would come up to us right away and get us drinks. I will probably get a beverage package in the future just because it cuts down on the headache of signing everything and it includes coffee and bottled water. We also loved the Sunset bar. Our evening bar guy even found me by the pool one day and got me a drink. Those extra tips do help. Trying to get a drink at a bar directly was just a headache, the bartenders ignored us, it was better to go through a server. Loved coming to the Celebrity tent after port stops to get the icy cold towel and water. That's such a nice touch that other cruiselines do not do. I'm not really into musicals so we didn't go to some of the shows. We did go to all of the comedy shows since I love standup comedy. The first comic was not funny and got most of his jokes from the internet. I knew the punchlines to 90% of them. The second guy was much better. They also showed Bohemian Rhapsody, which we were dying to see at home and just too busy to see over the holiday. Yay! We're probably also the only two people on Earth that hate.silent.disco!! I/we just don't get the appeal at all! My social butterfly boyfriend hated it. I'm as introverted as they get and I hated it. Plus the lines were long and there was no way to get a drink at the bar at the Sky Lounge because it was understaffed. Those 2 poor bartenders and all those people. Ports: San Juan - we just got off the ship and walked around. I had blisters on my feet from new cruise shoes so we stopped at CVS for bandaids and Senor Frog's for a drink. Next time we plan an excursion. First time cruising there so now we know. St. Thomas - took a taxi from the port $4/pp to Emerald Beach Resort which is the beach closest to Celebrity's dock. Rented beach chairs for $7/pp from the resort and just hung out and had a beautiful beach day. Will try one of the further away beaches or an excursion next time. Punta Cana - tender port. I actually like riding on them, it's an adventure. The ride to port isn't very long either but it can get bumpy. So my boyfriend LOVES cigars and we were going to take the Celebrity Cigar, Rum and Chocolate shopping excursion. $69/pp or something like that? Found out, they take you to Don Julio Cigars/Mundo Autentico. If you are staying in one of the Punta Cana resorts, they will pick you up and bring you back FOR FREE to do this!! Yes the Celebrity excursion also takes you to the Dolphin Mall for a few hours as well but it still isn't worth $69/pp. So I arranged my own excursion. :-) I've read mixed reviews about Mundo Autentico but we loved it and would love to go back. There were cigar samples, demonstrations, coffee samples (OMG so good - I wish I would have brought back more than a pound) chocolate samples, mamajuana samples (tastes like Jagermeister to me) lots of affordable souvenirs, I got a pair of Larimar earrings, BF got cigars, etc. Nassau - took a snorkel excursion through Celebrity. LOVED IT. Now I want to snorkel more! I know it sounds like I'm complaining a lot about this cruise but we really did love it and can't wait to go back next year after the refurbishment. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to try a different line.(Previously been on NCL) Service was excellent, always greeted with a smile. We felt like royalty. The Equinox just had a refined feel about it without being stuffy. The ship was sparkling clean, never had to wait long at all before an attendant would come get our drink orders even on busy sea days. Food was very good on MDR, cafe and burger bar. We didn’t try any specialty restaurants. Can’t say enough good things. We will sail again with Celebrity. We had only sailed NCL previously and although I did enjoy NCL, there is no comparison between the two. Celebrity is much more elegant, the staff is more plentiful and friendlier. Also the excursions and disembarkation was much more organized than on NCL. We did book another cruise while onboard the Equinox and look forward to going again! Read Less

My wife (52) and I (50) just got back from the Equinox January 5th / 12th. It had been almost 20 years since we last cruised on Celebrity and we knew that there would be many changes. As a couple we are rather laid back. We have done many cruises over the years, along with all-inclusives and a few land vacations. Please note this was our experience based on our past experiences. I won’t get into the ports (Eastern Caribbean) since they are covered extensively by others, and, unfortunately we are not picture takers. We had a basic balcony room (6130) that we were told by our room attendant that it had recently received some updates. He didn’t go into specifics but it seemed like new carpet, maybe also the couch and couch pillows. I told my wife that the couch pillows were made by the finest artesian goat herders, because they were so stiff they had to be stuffed with straw. Embarkation: Quick and efficient We found the ship easy to navigate and really liked its size. I booked us a pre-cruise room on South Beach, we got up early and grabbed a nice breakfast outside at a cute restaurant. Then we went back to the hotel, checked out and were at the port by 10:30. We were on the ship with our first drink shortly after. We were fortunate to snag the crows nest (a small bump out with four chairs) at the Sunset bar at the aft of the ship and met two great guys. Shout out to Mike and Adrian. Unfortunately we stayed to long and that means I started off my cruise with a bit of a sunburn. Room: As I said, we were told that we were one of the few who had some updates. The carpet was nice and soft and the bathroom is where I think the biggest change was made. A walk-in shower with curved glass doors. I could be way off on the upgrades since I have nothing to compare to. You could certainly tell the ship was ready for a refurb when you looked at the chairs on the balcony. As far as storage we had enough space, but I can certainly see where it could be a problem. We used it all. One strange/funny bit about the room was; you know that expensive bottle of water they always have in the room incase you get weak and are willing to pay an excursion price for it? It was located on the bottom shelf in the bathroom by the toilet, just a few inches away. Not real enticing, but we NEVER use them so it just brought a little bit of levity each day. Staff: No problems at all. Of course some were better than others. I can see why so many like the martini bar, but it does get loud. It was great to see all of the smiles from the staff and a little sincere appreciation given makes their day. Food: I need to start by saying we cook A LOT and I’m not talking heat and serve meals. This was probably the biggest area we felt was a minor disappointment. At several of the meals the meat was dry/tough. This included burgers from the Mast grill and in the Ocean View. I ate fish most nights in the MDR and it was very good. I also enjoyed the soups, but I found the gumbo a bit lacking in flavor and meat. By the way we did not partake in any of the specialty restaurants and always ate dinner in the MDR. My bride LOVED the cheesecake in the MDR. Odds and ends: I believe most had a beverage package, we had the Classic and it was fine. We did pay a bit extra here and there, but at the end of the day it was smart not to upgrade…for us. Make sure you ask for your specific alcohol so you get what you want. Fellow passengers, 90% were fantastic and a lot of fun. There is a small segment that seem to be FIP’s, “formally important people”. We were enjoying ourselves at the bar one evening and this woman raised her voice (she was not drunk) to get the bartenders attention even though she was no where near next and said “you need to listen to me NOW so you know how to make my drink.” Then she gave several steps on on how to make it and then turned to everyone and said, “I want it the way I want it, when I want it.” That last line is our new slogan. I just laughed and said, “what ever lady.” The elevators were good, even on disembarkation day. Lounge chairs, a little bit of effort and it was no problem. BUT, we also prefer to not be in the sun to much. Music, I wish there were more options during the evening and night times. Disembarkation: First breakfast at the Ocean View, there was a lot of food to choose from. The staff walking around offering beverages and croissants still had smiles on the faces. We did not feel rushed and we found a place to sit right away. After breakfast we found our luggage quickly and there was no wait to get through the TSA (I have no idea how many ships were in port). We got our Uber and headed out to our post cruise hotel. My guess is that we were off the ship by 9am, but again we were in no hurry since we couldn’t check in to our hotel until 3pm. Feelings: After so many years away from Celebrity I do enjoy the relaxed dress code and we still get dressed up a bit. You can definitely tell there have been some changes, but we feel for the price point it is still a winner. That would explain why we are looking for our next Celebrity cruise. On a scale of 1-10 based on our travel experiences, an eight. Read Less

Tasteless food, not very neat and not a lot of choices. The dining room food was OK but nothing to write home about. Specialty restaurants were amazing but expensive. Drinks are super expensive because I guess they want to,push guests to the drink packages, I.e. Stella Artois beer $10, a macchiato and regular coffee $11, most drinks $14. The service was great. The entertainment was fine but too loud in two of the Cirque du Soleil like productions. Stayed at concierge level cabin, never saw the concierge. They bring a little tray of canapés every evening which were mostly terrible. The servers in the dining room were wonderful. The embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. The ports were great. Food in main dining room is ridiculous. Prime rib les than a quarter inch in thickness. Last night nothing was edible from tuna, salad and entree. If you have premium alcohol package don’t bother had to buy a botttle. Things have definitely changed from last year. The wine list for premium includes $12 a bottle for those wines. If you don’t ask for premium water you don’t get it. I would not upgrade again so not worth it. Your meet and greet was a joke. Tried to talk to F&B and he said sorry have a meeting. Met with me 3 days later and took cost of wine off my bill. 0n MSC meet and greet, there were cocktails, cake and photo. Celebrity needs to catch up with the program. Not at all impressed even though I am booked in May thinking of cancelling and going on a different cruise line where they truly care. I had a major air conditioning leak which soaked my carpet and my balcony doors sounded like a wind tunnel. The Entertainment was good, especially the magician and female singer. I definitely think everyone should try glass blowing. I made 2 beautiful vases. Well anyways happy and healthy 2019 to all. Enjoy Read Less

We chose the Equinox rather late as we decided just before Thanksgiving that we wanted to be on a ship for the New year. Upon looking at available cruises, the Equinox came up as most affordable option of remaining balcony options. We did get the Aqua class and as such got to dine each evening in Blu. The food and service were five star here and we arrived each night at our leisure and got table for 2. Menu in main dining appeared to be a step above RCL, admittedly our favorite cruise line.I neglected to mention that in the Aqua class room you get daily appetizers and fresh tea. You also get access to parts of spa (Relaxation room, steam room, and sauna). Casino was small and disappointing in that the minimums were high for a cruise. Craps min bet was $15 and while they had a single $5 BJ table that was always full, you could always find a seat at $15 and up table. Casino manager never changed these mins the entire cruise. They did have a Texas hold em Poker table that was open sporadically. Entertainment was average at best. They had 3 main production shows that were performed by same group with same stars. Celebrity productions were not Broadway like RCL Oasis class. Enough said. in between shows they would have a one man/woman show that was a magician/comedian or singer/comedian. I did enjoy the Steve Parry. PGA speech about his road to the british open and his chipping demo on the lawn. My favorite bar was the Sunset bar on the back of the ship. Great service and they had either a single or duo performing every afternoon. Cigars welcome there on one side. The Ensemble bar is also a nice place for pre or post dinner libations as they have jazz type entertainment. Other mentionable would be the Martini bar with and ice bar. They do a drink martini show that is quite an event. My seapass card had to be replaced ,i think, 8 times due to being de-magnitized and would not open room. Pathetic that they are still using old technology while sister competitors like RCL use RFID technology which were error free on our cruise in September. Furthermore, the inroom TV was out for 4 of the 7 days! The internet was another bad point. We only had unlimited internet on 2 devices and used our cell phones exclusively, yet we had to continually relog into their internet provider. Again with RCL we logged in once and were done! Really pathetic performance. Celebrity makes a big thing about the lawn areas as a pace to play games such as bocce, croquet, etc. All that I really saw on the lawn was sunbathing. Maybe Celebrity could reserve one area for games and others for sunbathing. And finally with a name like Celebrity would it not be nice to have a unannounced celebrity or 2 for one night only shows? RCL and even Carnival has done this for years. Read Less

This was our first cruise so wasn't truly sure what to expect. We had two balcony rooms with the concierge class, we were a family of four including two teenage girls. We picked Celebrity due to the reputation of being one of the more exclusive cruise lines. I will start with the positives: 1) Boat was very clean and we were impressed with the use of the space in the rooms. The attendant that took care of our rooms kept them extremely tidy. Will warn you that the rooms are outdated. 2) Canyon Ranch service was top notch, I had a massage, blow out and manicure. 3) The cruise director and concierge were extremely friendly, they truly enjoyed their jobs and it showed. 4) Room service and Dining Room food were consistent. Sushi/Italian specialty restaurant were decent! The Sommelier in the main dining room was fantastic! 5) New Years Eve Party, Silent dance party, and white party were entertaining for all ages. Comedian made us laugh. The negatives: 1) Costa Maya, not so great. I saw previous reviews that said do not get off at this port, and should have listened. We only got off because it was a bit rocky the night before and we wanted to be on solid ground. We selected a Celebrity Beach Club excursion. First, the description of the package did not match the actual facility. There was supposed to be a pool, no pool. There was supposed to be a restaurant/bar. There was a makeshift restaurant/bar made out of shipping containers. We lasted a couple of hours and didn't eat or drink anything. There was too much seaweed (which they did warn us) to enjoy the ocean. We learned that we were taken to the wrong place, and that the actual beach club we were supposed to go to was closed. We were not told this, and when we went to the excursion desk to ask for a refund, we were given the run around. They finally agreed to give us 50% off but asked us not to tell anyone. 2) My daughters friend needed feminine products. When she went to check out, the man behind the counter was extremely rude. Asked her if she was old enough to even use the products (she is 16) and wanted to know if she had her mothers permission to buy the products. 3)The teen room was empty and the girls were disappointed that they didn't have much going on for them. The ship didn't do a very good job of advertising. Being that it was a holiday, there were a number of families with teenagers, however not a high turn out in the teen room. Thankfully the girls were outgoing and made new friends. 4)When we went to Cozumel and Grand Cayman, we decided to go directly to a five star hotel( Intercontinental/ Ritz) and either eat lunch or ask for a day pass. I am glad we did, we learned that a gentleman on our ship had passed away snorkeling in Grand Cayman. We also spoke to a family that toured the Mayan ruins in Costa Maya with their five children and they didn't learn one thing. Not sure we will be cruising again. On the fence! Read Less

We were a large group of 10 family members - all adults with one 17 yr old. I have cruised over 20 times, mostly on Royal, several times with Princess and once with Carnival. We tried Celebrity because I had often heard it was "a notch above" Royal Caribbean. This was not our experience. Embarkation was awful - we had Elite status but the Celebrity member controlling our line was never paying attention. After waiting 45 minutes in a line to check in - we finally just went over to the regular check in line and were taken so fast. We also knew that the ship was going in for refurbishment (after we booked of course) so I was not expecting the look to be great. It was fine, carpet styles were dated and deck chairs etc showing wear but the ship was very clean so it passed in my book. The biggest reason for 3 star rating was honestly the food. I can be pretty objective since I have cruised many times. We ate in the main dining room every night. 80% of my meals were honestly just awful and the 20% that weren't - the portion size was so small as to be laughable. My ravioli dinner was 3 raviolis. I ordered the shrimp louie appetizer and it was seriously about a tablespoon worth. My shrimp scampi was shrimp skimpy - only 3 shrimp on the side. Seriously?! Even our head waiter acknowledged that it was bad and started bringing our sons extra dinners. We are not snackers or breakfast eaters so we were basically eating 2 meals per day. It is the first cruise I have ever been on where I felt hungry. The overall quality was just poor. Some meats were so tough that our drinks would spill when someone at the table was using a knife to saw through the cut. I understand cost cutting on portions but they are seriously in need of a new chef too! Two bright spots to recommend - the burgers at the Mast Grill and Sushi on Five (my crew did it for lunch). We did not try the other restaurants because it was a Holiday cruise and they were charging $70 to $120 per person cover charges. When you have 10 people that gets to be ridiculously expensive. The Buffet was not great. Again, hit or miss but more than anything it was just chaotic at lunch time trying to find an open table and get your group together. I wish all cruise lines would figure out a way to make this better. We did not do the dining room for lunch based on our dinner experience. The drink package was another disappointment. We upgraded to the premium because I did not want to hassle with whether a particular drink might be included or not. We found the drinks were very weak. You have to specifically say the brand of liquor you want or they will serve you house brands even with the upgrade. We finally started asking for double shots in mixed drinks otherwise you are just drinking a lot of juice and mixers. I ordered Baileys on the rocks and got one shot glass full over a huge glass of ice. In the dining room they ran out of the better champagnes and sparkling wines so what we were served was often just awful. Recommend you get your drinks in the World Class Bar. They use top shelf liquors there all the time. Entertainment in the Theatre was hit or miss. The first night comedian was probably the worst I have ever heard in my life. The comedian magician was enjoyable and the last comedian was very funny. The singer "Jane Curry" was very good as well. They had the Celebrity singers and dancers on deck entertaining for New Year's Eve. They were pretty bad at singing rock cover tunes. The house band Bristol was good but they played early in the center of Deck 3. After that, there was no where to really go in a lounge and just listen to some good music. Recommend the Silent Disco when it is in the Sky Lounge. Go early, they run out of headsets and there is a long line to wait once they run out. Disembarkation was another fiasco. We booked a Celebrity excursion and were told to collect our luggage on Carousel 2. It never came out. We spent 50 minutes wandering around looking for our bags not knowing whether our excursion left without us. I kept trying to grab a Celebrity person to help but they did not know what to do. Finally someone told us that our tag number had not been given to the baggage team. We sailed in balcony cabins. They were clean and ample room. Two outlets in the whole cabin was a joke with the amount of devices that need to be charged these days. Hope they fix that with the refurbishment. The WiFi kicks you off a lot and you have to constantly log-in again to connect. Also very very slow. I think everyone judges their cruises by what is important to them. We were still on vacation so we did enjoy our family time and some great weather. I hate to be this critical but when you spend that amount of money we did to take 10 people on a cruise, I did expect better. You definitely need to get the food and drink right on a Ship. The ship's crew and service were excellent. No complaints on that front. We just will not be cruising Celebrity again. Final note - don't do the Everglades excursion at the end. If you have a late flight on the last day, you can check your luggage through from the ship for $25/bag and just take a taxi to the beach for the day. We took the Everglades excursion with Celebrity. It was a very short boat ride (we saw one alligator) and then 30 minutes of "petting zoo quality" land exhibits. We were dropped at the airport by 1:00 pm for a 7:00 pm flight. Defeated the whole purpose of doing a day excursion to use up time. Read Less

We have cruised on Royal Carribean, Princess, Carnival, and now Celebrity. I would rank Celebrity higher within the four if the excursions exceeded expectations. The dining staff is exceptional. Thank you, Naum, Manoj, and Salv. The room staff is exceptional. Thank you, Leroy. The food in the Ocean Cafe' was good. The dinner menu is exceptional. The wine was nice. The unlimited premium drink package is a must if cruisers consume libations. The premium wine tasting was one of my favorite experiences. Well worth the money. Excellent wine presented by an expert sommelier. The bar staff is amazing. We especially enjoyed the martini bar. Dan, the Cruise Director, and Christine did a great job of engaging cruisers, and they offered a wide variety of activities such as silent disco, bingo, family games, adult games, dance lessons, comedians, magicians, and entertaining talent. Their lead chorus person, Alexis, is outstanding as are the others who perform. The medical staff was professional and helpful. The fitness center is ok. I found it difficult to find entertainment while on the elliptical without WIFI. (WIFI is extra). As I mentioned earlier, I would rank Celebrity higher with excursion improvement. Do not take the Discovery dive in Puerto Rico. The experience is expensive, short, and too dark to see a thing. It is unsafe to take new divers down in the dark waters with one flashlight. The leader was nice, but the dive was unsafe and disappointing. The St. Maarten 5 point Island tour was just average. The bus stopped on top of the summit, which was beautiful. The tourist shop was an over-the-top tourist trap. Chairs and umbrellas at the beach would have helped to make this more special. The certified dive excursions in St. Maarten and St. Thomas were great per my son. The Miami Hop On - Hop Off Big Bus was fun. Do beware if you have to sit inside the bus as the top is full, some buses do not have AC. It was sweltering hot. After we moved to the top, the tour guide, Cat, was very entertaining and we enjoyed the tour. The Celebrity directions for excursions were a bit unclear for us. The Puerto Rico biking excursion left the dock before the departure time and so did other excursions we attended. Read the ticket details. The meeting time is noted on tht ticket. This meeting time should be the departure time. I missed the Bike Tour even though I was at the meeting place 5 min. late, but at the dock by the departure time of 4 p.m. More clocks on the ship and more clarity with directions would help - especially at the first port. In addition, some of the Excursion staff were helpful, while others were not (Thank you Will and Natasha). On our first excursion, two Celebrity staffers treated me unprofessionally with a "I should have known" all of the details approach. The experience was anything but positive, and I had to work to remove the distasteful lense. With regards to the ship, she is an aged girl and needs a bit of updating but she is super clean. A word of caution, be careful on the steps. Some of the steps have rubber to prevent slipping while others have metal strips. When it rains, the steps can get slick. My son experienced this first hand, hence my earlier positive comments about the kind and professional medical staff. Cruisers must use the handrails and lots of Purell. If you choose to cruise with the Equinox, enjoy all that she has to offer but cautiously select excursions. Read Less

We got on the ship quickly after getting dropped off by a super shuttle. But their was a wait to get on with having to go through security and then to wait in line to get our key cards. We were given champagne when we got on the ship but we're told glasses were not allowed in the elevator as I'm sure people would leave them in it when done drinking. We got to the buffet and there were no tables, we finally found one but way in front and had to share. The food was okay, the deserts were the best and there was plenty of deserts. When the room was ready we finally left the buffet as it was closing and were kicked out. The ports were okay and we felt key west was the best port in terms of doing things. Was dissapointed in some things and really liked some things. I liked the movie theater on board and was able to see some movies I had not seen that came out in 2018. There is no screen by the pool like other lines. I would definitely go on Celebrity again and liked it more than Princess as they have way bigger ships and I prefer smaller shipd. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The speciality restaurants should be considered for sure! Was dissapointed didn't have Captain Kate and really wanted to because never have had a female captain on a ship before. Read Less
