A friend recommended it because of what the ship offered. It was very nice. I would like to recommend that you have cell phone service on the ship (operating only within the ship, without huge roaming charges). There were 4 of us (3 adults and one 12 year old). Sometimes we would split up, but always had difficulty finding each other to get back together. If we could have used our cell phones to locate each other after completing an activity separately, it would have enabled us to participate in more activities. Everything else was fine. I cannot think of anything else to comment on. Food was good. Shows were good. I admired how efficiently they got so many people on the ship in such a short time. Port stops were nice. On the way from Cozumel (Mexico) to Port Canaveral, some military planes flew overhead and soon left. Were we off the approved course? Read Less

Our cruise experience left us wanting more. We were treated like royalty. The food was excellent and the many choices allowed us to try a variety of things. We enjoyed an ocean view stateroom with a deck and was thrilled at seeing the sunsets, breathing the fresh air and looking at blue blue water. We enjoyed breakfast on our deck and it was served promptly and hot. The entertainment on board was top notch. The shows were exceptional and lasted just the right amount of time. There was not one evening that we were not lacking in a choice of what to do. We traveled with another couple and enjoyed the many choices of activities available that allowed us to dress from beachy casual to business casual to formal. The only thing we were disappointed in was that the excursions on Cozumel were long. The ones to Myan ruins were 10 hours long. Read Less

Love the multiple activities on Oasis class, but seemed more crowded than in the past. RCCL seems to be reducing main dining room staff (also on Celebrity for my last 3 cruises), perhaps fewer assistant waiters? Never the less, good was very good. They did run out of walnuts on day 5 or 6, spoiled my attempt to eat healthy for at least one meal / day. Cast gave a good performance of a tedious show (Cats), theater was less than 1/3 full by the end of several performances. Set was well designed. Ice show was top notch, best I have seen. Aqua show is no "O", poor visibility from the reserved seats. The Diamond lounge (we are D+) was a disaster, space for maybe 80 folk with over 500 on board. Very sad to lose the Viking Crown (now the Suite lounge), one of the highlights of the entire fleet. Still like the Freedom, Oasis and Quantium class ships. Cheers Blanch D Read Less

I was so excited to take this cruise, we had done 2 other cruises with royal crib, and couldn't say enough good things about it. BUT this trip was awful, first the waves were terrible and that made it so that the shows were canceled and the deck(some of them) closed. We all lost at least a day due to motion sickness. When we got off at naussa the construction was terrible and I fell on the rough sidewalk area. I was really hurt, my knee turned black and I sprained my ankle, they did clean it up and left me for 30 min and didn't bring out the paper work I was supposed to sign( I feel they didn't want to record it) there also was an older man who had also fallen The food was terrible, We ate in the my time dinning room ,one night we were gassed out with paint fumes coming through the waiters work area. The room had an Oder and the settee was dirty. I went with two other family members so we had 3 rooms between us. St martin also had a lot of construction at the entry area. The smaller dinning areas had trash on the tables and the servers were abrupt and a bit rude in the cafe . Upon calling and complaining, I was offered a 10% on board credit on each persons cruise that expired in the next year...Which is when I found out the 3rd and 4th person actually cost more than the first 2, and actually could have had their own room for the amount it cost. I had been sent an offer in the mail that said 3rd and 4th person would be half price. We are not wealthly and live in MO so taking a cruise is a BIG deal and a BIG expense, not something we do every year, Now all I can say is it was one of those trips I wish I hadn't done, I will probably try other cruise lines at this point and befor this I had been an avid RC follower. I am a disappointed mom and I feel it was $2800 wasted ( this does not include the cost of getting to fla) Read Less

Cabin attendant, (Victor) and server (Constantine) were amazing! Music was phenomenal - Southside band was outstanding - they could play all genres. Missed not having family comedy shows and would like to see bigger dance floors for ballroom dancers. The Oasis of the Seas is a smooth sailing ship - hardly felt any rocking motion. The captain seemed very down to earth and comical according to family members who attended his information session. He spoke excellent English: first time I think, for us, being able to understand the announcements. Bathroom in cabin was very small but lots of storage space for clothing and shoes. It is an excellent ship for travel and decorated beautifully throughout. There didn't seem to be enough supplies for those playing games during activities. Shops at Jamaica seemed a bit pricey. Embarkation and disembarkation went extremely smooth and fairly quick. I hope to participate in a shore excursion next time even if I don't have a family member going along. They love hanging out on the ship. Read Less

Loved the ship and staff but the food was less than expected. I sent back a few dinners as I just couldn't eat what was provided. The quality of the food was average at best. We had some allergies with our group, gluten and dairy and they were very attentive to the menu for these persons. We also were overcharged for bar drinks on a couple of occasions. This is extremely disappointing as the drinks are already too expensive. The automatic 18% gratuity added to everything purchased is heavy handed. The cruise automatically charges a gratuity of $13.50 per person per day for what they claim is for the restaurant and cabin persons. We were not made aware of this and when it shows up on your room bill, its quite shocking. As I was traveling with my family of 6, this amounts to ~$700, a little steep don't you think. Read Less

This was my first cruise, and my husband's second. It is the opposite of the kind of vacation we usually take, and I had no idea what to expect. A professional group I'm part of decided on this cruise, so there we were. I'm afraid that now I'm a convert! We had such a good time. We chose a large interior stateroom, and found it to have more than enough space for the two of us. There were lots of little shelves, and drawers, and more than enough closet space, so we managed to lead a mostly organized life for the week. The room was spotless every time we came back to it. The showers aren't large, but there was excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Our steward was fabulous - I managed to irritate an old shoulder injury by snorkeling and scuba diving, and he made sure I always had ice and ziploc bags. I assumed we would spend a few evenings eating at the specialty restaurants, but we never made it out of our dinners in the Main Dining Room. We were sitting with a great group of people, and the waitstaff were amazing - hysterical, attentive, very helpful. The culinary staff went above and beyond to attend (creatively!) to the dietary restrictions of several people at the table. We had such a good time we never managed to try anything else at dinner! We alternated breakfasts between room service and the Windjammer. We did have one day that our room service came more than half an hour late, so arrived while we were literally walking out the door for our early shore excursion. We grabbed a few pastries and sent it back. Later that day we received a note of apology along with some chocolate covered strawberries, so I really felt like they tried to make the best of it. We spent our evenings either in Jazz on 4 or the Schooner for the most part. The jazz band was top notch, and the classic cocktail menu in the Schooner was top shelf ;) Very nice! We also spent the time before dinner several evenings listening to a lovely violin/piano duo in Central Park. We had one shore excursion cancelled due to bad weather, but the other two went as planned. We went with a Discover Scuba Diving excursion in St. Thomas run by Underwater Safari, and I can't say enough good things about them. Great first experience with scuba, tons of personalized attention, and a lot of time to enjoy the day. The group I traveled with had seminars on the three sea days, and the conference space was very nicely set up. AV equipment worked as expected, lots of coffee and danishes, and quiet enough that it was easy to hear our speaker. Read Less

We just returned from a 7-night Caribbean cruise (January 8-15th, 2017) that departed Orlando and went to Nassau, St.Thomas and St.Maarten. We have cruised many times, and were originally concerned about being on a mega-ship just due to the large number of people etc.... but only found a few occasions where it actually seemed crowded. Overall the food was absolutely excellent, but please note that we never ate in the Windjammer, only ate in the main dining room 3 x's and paid extra for specialty dinners the rest of trip. Chops Grill - outstanding. Giovanni's - terrific. Chef's Table with wine pairing (a must do and very well worth the +$95 per person), Central Park 150 (we did the wine pairing also and was NOT worth the +$115 per person. Better to just do the +$45 3 course). Sabour was also great for lunch and we loved Vintages! Great tapas and lunch, plus did one of the wine tasting events. As said, we paid a lot of extras and also had pre-booked all these dinner reservations online beforehand. The MDR was also terrific though the 3 nights we ate there. Our waiter was great. Very attentive and looked after us. Both us and our friends had 14th floor balconies. We booked late so unfortunately were in the bow (not desirable for us). The pro to our rooms (#14138 and #14144) was that there is a sundeck off the bow and had the weather been hot and sunny our hallway would have been much busier. Our room attendant - Lenore was outstanding. She brought us the extras we asked for (wine glasses, ice buckets, bathrobes, shampoo etc..) and of course we tipped her well. Most of time we spent at the lovely solarium pool deck on the bow (nice and close to our rooms), when we actually had good weather. We purchased the drink packages and felt it was well worth it because of the discount on expensive bottles of wine. Entertainment was great. Again, pretty much all prereserved online ahead of time. Shore Excursions - we travelled with another couple so just hired local taxi's and guides for the 4-of us, rather than booking with the ship. Also the weather was the pits. Again, an excellent ship. Our only negative was the unusually bad weather we had our week, and the very rough/windy conditions on board. We were really glad to be on a mega-ship in this instance as there was lots of other things to do and would have been bored otherwise. Read Less

Our overall experience on the Oasis of the Seas was good. We started out the first 3 nights were very rocky onboard due to higher than normal winds. I felt that a ship this large should have been able to navigate better through waves that were 5-6' swells. The ship: Overall the ship itself was good. There was a lot of stuff to do onboard. The one thing I would have liked though would have been the obvious, I would like to be able to see the ocean more. If you want to see the ocean you have to go to the rear of the ship (at the back of the jogging track), deck 6 at the back of the Boardwalk, Deck 14 (front of the ship above the navigation control room (this area was actually closed for 5 of the 7 days on board), Deck 15 (pool area) or Deck 16 (Solarium). I wish that they would not have the jogging track on Deck 5 so that you can step out after a meal at the dining room and enjoy the ocean. I do understand though that this is all designed to be like this though. The cabin: Our interior cabin was great. We upgraded a little and got a room with a normal bed, a pull out couch (which was a little dirty and musty smelling) and a 2 tiered bunk bed. The bathroom was a little larger than the other Royal Caribbean ships we had been on. Dining: The main dining food overall was not very good. I honestly would not recommend trying any of the Head Chef's nightly recommendations for entrée/starters. They were not good at all. The NY strip steak, which we had on more than 1 occasion, was very well cooked. This was the star of the menu. The deserts were above average as well. The main dining staff was quite spectacular. Our head waiter Kevorn and his assistant Natalia went above and beyond for anything we asked for, including items that were not on the menu. Their service was the best we have ever had on any cruise ship. A+ for them!!! Entertainment: I did not particularly like the musical CATS. I just could not really follow the story line even though I gave it 2 tries (I saw act 1 on the first showing and a portion of act 2 on the final sea day. I just couldn't make it through the entire show). We did not get to see the Ice show, it was booked out for all performances. We also found this to be true for the comedy club (which was shockingly small for such a large ship) The headliner act (the ventriloquist) was a little boring to say the least. I would say for this ship the cruise director Drew and his assistant Margot were below average for what we experienced on other Royal Caribbean ships. You would think that Royal Caribbean would do a better job of finding an awesome cruise director staff for a ship this size and for one of their flagship ships. Very unappealing to me. Service: Overall our service was good. Pleasant staff and Good Room Attendant. We have 3 children ages 7, 10 and 12. The 7 and 10 year olds had a blast at the kids club. The 12 year old was uninspired by the Teen club (age 12 is when they can do the Teen club instead of Adventure Ocean), so much so that he begged us to ask if he could join the kids club towards the end of the cruise. The Teen club needs to work on separating the older teens (say 15-17) from the younger teens (say 12-14). The majority of the evening activities were geared toward intermixing the teen girls with the teen boys (Teen prom night, Teen dance club...etc). Ports of Call: Overall we were not really impressed with these ports (Bahamas, St. Thomas & St. Marten). If you enjoy lazy beach days then this would be for you. In addition we did not get much time at all at the ports. For instance, Bahamas was 10-4:30. They should give you more time at the ports. Our overall experience on the Oasis of the Seas was good. Going back to this ship again would be a definite maybe. Read Less

We were thankful we were on the Oasis, as the weather was quite rocky. I will always cruise with R.C., however, I am very disappointed on the photo shop, our pictures of my husband and I were taken in the dining room table, and when I went to see them, were not available. I checked up to the last possible day for them, but to no avail. Since this was my husband's first and probably only cruise he will ever go on, I feel very saddened this happened to us. I am so disappointed this happened. The theater show of Cats was not good at all. We left, along with many others after the first half. The comedian was outstanding and the quest game was the best ever. I will cruise again with R.C., but I will not sail with Oasis again. The activities need improvement, as there was too much time between them. Read Less

I really wanted to see St. Thomas and St. Maarten from a cruise. Nassau was a bonus. I had traveled by air to all three places before more than once. The cruise allowed a good amount of time in each port for a day and it was very nice to visit all three during the week. I have been on three cruises, however, this was the first cruise in over 20 years. Since retiring from the workforce four years ago, I thought I would give cruising another try. I was very impressed with everything Royal Caribbean provided. I went on this cruise as a last minute decision since I saw reduced pricing online. I booked shore excursions for all three destinations through a third party other than Royal Caribbean. Two went well, however, the St. Thomas shore excursion was marginal at best. The pickup point was all messed up and we almost missed the excursion. One couple did miss the excursion due to the company not providing accurate directions as to where to be. We met the couple who missed the St. Thomas excursion on the St. Maarten excursion and we remembered them from the Nassau excursion. They booked with the same company as we did which was Cruise.com. Next time I will probably book with Royal Caribbean for my shore excursion. Read Less

We have friends that invited us to try a cruise on the largest ships. I generally like the middle sized ships best. They are large enough for nice amenities but small enough that crowds aren't an issue. Having said that, there are some things that I really liked about the Oasis. I think my favorite part was the boardwalk area at the rear of the ship. It's a very fun area where you can watch or participate in lots of activities. I also liked the freedom of movement through the promenade area. On smaller ships it can seem crowded when walking through the shops area from one end of the ship to the other. On Oasis, there is plenty of room. As far as negatives, I was disappointed in the Windjammer restaurant. While the quality of the food was good, I didn't think the selection was as good as other, smaller ships that I've been on. It was also always crowded and many of the stations seemed to always be empty. It was also surprised at how often I found it closed when I tried to go there. Not impressed. Instead, try the breakfast buffet in the dining room on deck 3. You can order off of the menu there as well. I was curious why the hot tubs and pools seemed to always be closed in the evening. There were several times when we went out around 7-8 pm and everything was roped off. I don't understand why. All in all, I did enjoy the Oasis and would choose it again, especially if I was traveling with young people or children. There is just a lot of activities for everyone. Read Less

We had a wonderful experience on the Oasis. Our son and daughter in law also cruised with us and were down the hall from us. We both had balcony rooms overlooking the Boardwalk which was fantastic! We would definitely book one of these rooms again. The neighborhoods were great. Lots of options on where to go on sea days. We would definitely book another cruise on the Oasis. Our shore excursion in Nassau (Blue Lagoon Beach Break) was very disappointing though. We waited a long time for our guide to collect us (she was handling another group first) and by the time we arrived on the island we had under 2 hours there before we had to leave. We barely had time to relax in a hammock and take a short walk around. The lunch left a lot to be desired. Some of the food did not look appetizing. Most of it was prepared ahead of time and kept warm. Was not what I expected. A cookout would have been great...where the food was cooked fresh. They had 2 containers of drinks and you were allowed only one small cup...no refills. Read Less

My wife and I and friends left Port Canaveral on a 7 night stay on the Oasis of the seas. This would be our 6th time on RC ships. We chose the Oasis simply because it was large and convenient to us. We live on the west coast of Fl. Getting on was fairly quick. But once on, we began the arduous task of bumping with 6000 people. We had a difficult time asking for "Mytime" dining times. Probably beause of the amount of people. The first night dining was OK, nothing special. The food was just mediocre. I have a passion for Escargot, but this time, it was chewy, gritty, and a funny taste afterward. Disappointed. The next day there were no usual gang of staff members dancing around the upper deck trying to brighten up a gray day. No waiters with a special drink to offer. Matter of fact, at any time of the trip. The shower was the worst. The mixing valve for hot cold was not working correctly. You wait to get the right mix, then get in, and then ice cold water, then scolding hot. Complained, complained, complained, but never fixed. Always beating around the bush with no resolution. To make a long story (7days) short. I had the worst time on a cruise ship that I ever had. The usual fancy artwork of towels was not cutting it this time. The ship needs more signage, more restrooms, less people or more elevators. We stayed on the 7th deck. If you don't go in the right elevator, you have to go up or down to the next floor, then go up or down to get to your room. (DUMB design) I always cruise RC, but I will never go with them again. The experience of the Oasis of the Seas and the destination of the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St Marten was everything we hoped for. The Oasis of the Seas was 3 football fields long but it was very easy to get around. We quickly learned all the locations of what we wanted to do on board. The entertainment was top of the line. We loved the Cats performance! We played cards in the card room some afternoons. And loved the dancing in the evening to the Southwest Band in the Dazzles room. Our group of 50 played Miniature Golf and had pictures taken on the Merry-Go-Round. Our shore excursions were very good and we learned so much about the islands. We did some shopping and purchased shirts we will long enjoy. One drawback is all the jewelry stores and the high pressure to purchase something so no fun to even look. There are free Charms in our brochures but they refused to give one to us if we wouldn't let them give us a sale pick for necklaces and rings, etc. Read Less

My husband wanted to experience a humongous cruise ship so we decided to try The Oasis of the Seas. Our first impression was that the cabin seemed noticeably smaller than we've had on other lines, but the boat was nice and well-cleaned. We thought the Park was very nice, and the food was good. The majority of the entertainment seemed to be aimed at much older passengers, and the water was too cold to do any of the really fun excursions (certainly that is not Royal Caribbean's fault, but if you hope to snorkel or otherwise enjoy the water, do NOT cruise in January! And it is very frustrating to look at beautiful water that is too cold for you to enjoy!). Additionally, because of the weather it was not desirable to sit outside or enjoy the water features on the ship - but again, that is a function of the time of year/Mother Nature, and certainly not a reflection on RC. In sum, it was not a fun cruise. The final straw was two experiences (with the hospitality staff and the photo staff) that pretty much soured us on RC. Read Less

Wait staff lacked energy - everything was a chore for them instead of a positive, make me feel like a queen experience. The room was dirty too. Good thing I brought sani-wipes for the remote, phone, etc. We found a dirty sock under the bed and it had been there a good while. The same television shows were repeated every day! Unbelievable - How many times can you watch the same episode of Mike & Molly? No movies shown in the auditorium while at sea. Movies shown on the last 2 days in the aqua theater, but they are kids movies. Ugh! On a positive note, the food was really good and the entertainment was also great. The ship is huge with lots to do and see our cabin was a great size with a bathroom offering more than ample room to turn around in and dress If you could not find food which was wonderful there was something wrong with you for there was all types of ethnic foods with snacks to formal abounding The entertainment, activities onboard(we won't talk about off board), and services on ship were great, varied, and abounding. The ports offered many excursions and there was sufficient time to explore however there needs to be better communication between those booking (especially the staff online bookings and those booking on the ship). Comments such as a personal opinion reflected in the comments of those loading the busses as to the mobility level of passenger on a special needs trip should never be voiced. I have not been on a great number of cruises but this one was the most efficient I have ever taken in the loading and unloading process. The weather, rocking of the ship and pluming problems we encountered are all just luck of the draw. We are loyal to Royal and will soon will be Diamond. Our last two cruises were on the Empress of the Seas and loved every minute so we thought it would be cool to go from the smallest to the largest. We were not disappointed. From the embarkation to the disembarkation all went well. One of the things that my wife and I might not do again is to cruise in January. The weather was not all that good. We had some real high seas so they had to cancel some of the shows. That brings me to the entertainment. We both enjoyed Frozen in Time and Come Fly With Me. The ventriloquist act was great. The comedy show was just OK. The venue was small. We were to go to Cats on Sat afternoon and opted out because of what other people were saying and that we would not be able have dinner with our friends. That brings me to our dinning experience. We have done many cruises and this was the best wait staff, from the head waiter Charito Cruz the waiter Pritesh Halankar asst. waiter Remis Ribeiro all were OUTSTANDING. The food like most of the recent cruises we have been on was ok. I think Royal has cut back on the menu as well as the portion size. My wife and I both thought that the Windjammer was predictable, but good. I wanted to try Johnny Rockets and was disappointed but the hot dogs on the boardwalk were outstanding. After a day or two we found the Oasis easy to navigate. We especially liked Central Park. We were both happy with the casino and having a no smoking side. We would like to see no smoking throughout the casino. The only time we felt that there were lots of people was the last day getting off. We both loved the Oasis and will cruise her again. Read Less

This was our first cruise. Therefore we went thru a travel agent to make sure everything would go smooth and be planned. We chose The Oasis of the Seas due to the reputation and it being a large ship. We had been told in the past that the food was awesome. However, this wasn't our experience. The food was awful. I ordered a steak in the dining hall and it just didn't look like a steak at all. The consistency was mushy to say the least. After that dinner, we resorted to going to the Wind Jammer buffet. Again, the food wasn't great, some was cold, others were greasy. Day to day the selection didn't change much. Due to size of the ship, it took alot of time to check on when dining places were open as they would have scattered hours. So if you find something you like, make sure to know where it is and the hours it is open. I asked about the fabulous desserts and seafood that everyone raves about, and never found them. Until we went to one of the pay restaurants, at that time we experienced a good meal and a great dessert. This is the one we had in the 7 days. If you choose to go on this ship, pay for the upscale restaurants. We also had booked shows before the trip as instructed. However, when it comes down to the shows, anyone can go, and you who reserved in advance will have NO where to sit and have to stand for the show. For example, the water show. We also had a bad experience with guest services. I had cancelled my drink package on the second day of the cruise and it took 5 attempts and trips to guest services to get it straightened out. (I had to go down there to get straightened out, while I was sea sick) Also, as said in earlier review, watch your bill. I followed the steps to take for booking dinners at the pay restaurants. It took me 4 times to get a booking set at the place we wanted. Due to the guest services not completing the reservation correctly after 4 attempts, I didn't get my desired dinner time and had to resort to day we were at port instead of a cruising day like I wanted. So we had to rush back from port to get ready for a 5:30 dinner when I wanted a 7:30 dinner on a cruising day. Ports were good, Bahamas was so-so, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten were good, but time there is short and goes to fast. The cleaning person was wonderful, cabin with balcony was nice. Due to the food and customer service not being good, I wouldn't recommend this boat. I have heard great experiences on other cruise lines. Read Less
