We chose the Oasis of the seas because of all the fantastic literature we read about this ship. It sounded exciting . We were not disappointed. The Oasis has everything imaginable on it to enjoy your vacation. Plenty of activity for children of all ages. Nice variety of shops and great buys. Ports of call were interesting and plenty of time to tour and shop. Our dining experience was great. A large variety of items to pick from in the Main dining room. Out evening dinner menus were different every evening and delicious. The embarkation went surprisingly very quickly considering the number of people coming aboard. The disembarkation went smoothly however it did take a lot longer than we expected due to the number of people getting off. But that is to be expected. We definitely will plan another cruise with Royal Caribbean We highly recommend the Oasis of the Seas. Read Less

Chose this cruise because cruise critic said it had lots of things for the grandchildren to do. it had great ratings. however.....we had nothing but trouble from day 1. we were promised early seating in main diningroom.....we were passed off to my time dining...it was a hoard of angry people pushing and shoving. infact, everywhere, people were pushing and shoving in the bottle necks where you come off elevators and wait in line for theatres, or dining areas. my granddaughter was trampled twice, her shoe actually broken, and my daughter was groped. i would never, never, never go on this large of a ship again. tooooooo many people, and too many places where you wait in long lines. there is nothing relaxing about the feeling that you have to go do dinner 30-40 min early to wait in the line, so people behind you are smushing you, pushing you and being angry and obnoxious. our gratutities had to corrected three times. the picture folks made multiple copies of the wrong pictures. i could have taken care of our room without the attendant....for all he offered us. not a satisfied customer. this isn't our first cruise.....but it will certainly be our last with this line. over $10,000.00 spent, and it was far less service, less fun, less calm, less, less, less. The Oasis of the Sea has no true adult only areas. Most areas have free-range children running everywhere, including the casino and in all the hot tubs. The ABI beach excursion was wonderful and even the bus ride was exciting and we would love to go back to this beach while the Orient Beach excursion was rocky, water cold and dirty, and not what the picture shows. We were also left by the bus driver in misty rain conditions. This ship may be larger than some cities but sometimes smaller is better. We enjoyed the cabin with the balcony overlooking central park, but the old dirty sofa in the room should be removed. You need to not rely on the Windjammer for your meals. My time dinning is easy to make reservations and is wonderful as well as the speciality restaurants. The shows we got to see were wondeful, had problems with the Comedy club reservations. Expect long delays when disembarking due to shortage of custom people and they do not arrive on time. You may not get your electronic equipment back if they seize it when boarding ship. Read Less

As a frequent cruiser i enjoy many things about cruising, But I have never enjoyed a cruise as much as this one with the Sky Suite program all the things you really hate about cruising are gone. Like embarkation and disembarkation Lets just say for disembarkation day I left my room at 8:13 and was in my car heading home at 8:22 enough said if your a cruiser. You MUST try it at least once You are appointed a Genie and they take care of everything you need on the ship. all dinner reservations, hold seats for you at all the shows, our genie checked and double checked to make sure we were happy. our room was always stocked with our preferred drinks Private area at the pool area with our own bartender. one time we didn't like part of our meal we never said a thing to our genie somehow he found out and apologized and made sure if we went back it would be done to our liking I just cannot say a negative thing. Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas was chosen because of its route and also the size of ship. It was our second time on this ship and it was as relaxing as the first time 5 years ago. The ship is well maintained and has plenty of activities and entertainment for all ages. There was plenty of options for dining at every meal with plenty of food options. Service was second to none with friendly staff and great service. It is quite amazing at how well the staff feed over 6,000 passengers so smoothly at each meal time. Our only criticism was the embarkation process with the long line ups and waiting times. This proved to be quite trying for folks with younger children as it was difficult to keep them still. Overall we were extremely impressed with the organization of the on board experience and would recommend this ship and cruise line highly. Read Less

We went with friends to get away from snow up north. We had a great time. Best vacation in a long time. Going first class in a Suite made the trip so very nice with all the extra things included. I can't say enough good things about the cruise line. Went on a smaller ship (Brilliance of the Seas) last year, and that was also very good. The extra money we spent for a suite was very much worth it. We are now spoiled, would not go any other way. However, we did not not spend a lot of time in the cabin except to sleep, so any cabin would have been ok, but being much older as I am, I really appreciated all the extra services that came with the suite. We are getting married soon, so we spent time on shore shopping for our wedding rings, which we found in St. Thomas. This Cruise line was terrific in every way. We complained about our meal the first night..(coffee never came on time) and wow! did they every make up for it the next night. Terrific service...Had so much fun! Read Less

We are loyal to royal cruisers and wanted to try one of their big ships. Being Florida residents and Crown and Anchor members the price couldn't be beat. I have found that the bigger ships do tend to charge more for the cruises but they do offer many more things to do. We do not use the specialty restaurants so I can't comment on those. However, I thought the food in the dinning room was on par with their other, smaller ships. Nothing world changing but quite good and we never felt like it was disappointing. The Windjammer food, again, was on par with the smaller ships, however, I do like some of the choices available on the smaller ones. For the entertainment, I wasn't expecting much from the Aquatheater, however we saw two shows and both were excellent and definitely worth seeing. I have never been disappointed in the service on any of the royal ships. Oasis was no different. I find that if you treat the service staff with respect and understanding for what they have to do you will get that same respect back. The cabins on Oasis were, for us, somewhat disappointing. We are used to the standard cabin layout (we always book a balcony) that have been on the other Royal ships. I guess with newer designed ships the cabin also got a newer, more compact, design. The storage space seems to be less and not as convenient. The best thing I found in the cabin, and it is also true of the Freedom class ships, is the shower door instead of a curtain. I would love to see the other ships upgraded to have shower doors. We didn't take this cruise for the ports or the excursions, however, we did enjoy getting off the ship at each destination and walking around in the duty free shops. This was our first time to Labadee and Falmouth and third time to Cosmel. My biggest concern was dealing with the expected crowds. There were over 6300 passengers on this cruise. I never found there to be any bigger problem with crowds than I have on smaller ships. The only time we ever felt crowded was after dinner while shopping on the Promenade deck. And even then it was no worse than we have experienced on the Brilliance, where sometimes it is standing room only! Oasis has a lot to offer, it is really geared toward families as there are a lot of activities for children and younger adults. However, we as seniors, also found plenty of things to do and never felt like something was missing. We would not hesitate to take another cruise on any of Royal's large ships. Read Less

We chose this cruise as our annual group cruise and it was a very fun-filled 7 days! The embarkation initially seemed daunting but, surprisingly, we got through the very long line quite efficiently and were onboard in about 1/2 hour!! Once everyone became acclimated to the sheer size of the Oasis, we all settled in to enjoy all she has to offer both on our own and with our group. Our cabin was a balcony cabin on deck 8 mid/forward. It was especially comfortable due to the addition of eggcrates to the bed! Like sleeping on a cloud!! The only thing negative about this cabin, which was no fault of RC, was a family with a screaming/crying child next door. They were also smoking on the balcony, a big no-no which Guest services took care of. Our experience interacting with staff (waiters, cabin stewards etc) was wonderful with nothing negative to report. Service was outstanding in our opinion. Our first sea day was a little rocky, which came as a surprise since in May we felt no motion on this ship. But we got through it with no problems. We found the food to be very good, maybe because they have a new executive chef aboard. We ate in the Main Dining Room each night. We also loved the Solarium for breakfast/lunch along with Park Cafe and Dining Room. Only ate one time in the Windjammer (breakfast)and food there was very good as well. There are so many free dining options aboard and we recommend trying them all!! The shows were all incredible, and even though we had seen most of them before, we happily enjoyed them again! had heard from others that the headliner comedian was terrible (offensive and just not funny). We caught his act on the final night and I think someone must have had a "talk" with him. He wasn't terrible but not very impressive either. Thinking this may be his last time with RCCL!! We loved Labadee and had a great beach day there. We skipped Jamaica although we enjoyed tours there on prior cruises. We met up with friends and had a leisurely lunch and margaritas at Poncho's Backyard on Cozumel and did a little shopping as well. All in all, we had a wonderful time cruising on OasisI would very definitely cruise this ship again doing Eastern Caribbean next time!! Read Less

We found the accomidations very clean and well maintained. The cabin service was completed when we were not in the cabin and did not have to wait for service. The food was excellent the service was superb. The shows were top notch and better than some broadway shows we have seen. Activities were well planned with advance notice The daily activities that were printed gave us a heads up of the many activities that we could use. The only complaint I have is the PA announcements were sometimes uninteligable because they were shouted instead of talking in a calm non screaming voice..Thwe Captain was very calm and informed us of the changes of ports we had to make because of the weather. The Captain's round table with questions and answeres was very informative. Ithink a postcard in every cabin with a picture of the ship would be a quality souvenir and advertisement passangers could take home. Read Less

I was all ready frustrated with trying to pre book excursions then I find out I have to have reservations for the shows; Both my husband and I were so exhausted by the boarding process that all I could think about was going to bed. then the show bookings were opened up just before our dinner time so we couldn't make reservations until Monday when Cats was all ready booked out.. So we missed the headliner show and Cats. I'm now very hesitant to standing in long lines. I loved walking through Central Park at night; I found the breakfast sandwiches of an egg Mc Muffin at Central Park a poor copy; My frustration with the reservation system was increased when the room television system did not work. I am diabetic and as such I have to eat early in the evening. this added to my frustration when I tried to reserve dining times before going on board.. I never did find prints of our first port and looking about 5 times so we had no further pictures taken while getting off at port. We choose this cruise to board the Oasis of the Seas for the first time. My wife and I went as we normally do, by ourselves. We are in our late 60's but we dance, have fun and use the pools, jog, run and eat. Embarkation was smooth and fast, very organized. Debarkation was even faster, about 10 minutes to exit the terminal from start to finish, could not believe it. This ship is very large yet it was very easy to navigate all areas. The key is to use the promenade (deck 5). Elevators are at both ends and quite a few they are. Remember that in many areas the food is free even if it looks expensive. Park Central (deck 8), just a great place to spend time to relax, get a great roast beef sandwich, fruit cups, salads and excellent soups. The Solarium was another spot to eat. But the Windjammer is the venue for eating most of the time. On deck 5 is the promenade and the jogging track. Go past the Boardwalk (here is the carousel) and the Aqua Theater. The promenade is the center of everything, from bars to music to 24hrs cafe, pizza. At Sorrentos they serve pizza with all the ingredients you want added, The entertainment was fabulous. Many typical activities and there's the Grand Parade with the Dreamworks animated characters. The food was the highlight since Royal Caribbean has greatly improved their menu, especially breakfast. Quality, presentation, and taste was simply great. Service better than ever. Royal Caribbean has taken suggestions and made changes and the results are evident, just an exceptional cruise. Before boarding and during your online checkin, make sure you try and get as many shows as you can in accordance with your dining schedule. If you find out taht some shows are full, do not worry, when you board just go to desk services and they will complete it for you, as we had to do. The folks are very very nice. On this cruise we had MyTime Dining table for two every night. The food was simply very good and service second to none. Our cabin was 7437 interior, roomy and very clean always. The public restrooms are very clean. All in all this was worth every penny and we will book another cruise soon. We have been on all the major cruise lines but we will return with Royal Caribbean. One last thing, do go to the Art Auctions. You will get a free artwork and an education about this fascinating world of Art. You do not have to buy anything but you will see great works of art and get to know a staff of friendly, knowledgeable persons that will answer any and all your questions. Oasis of the Seas is a great value. For 99.99% of the time, it felt like being on land, that's how smooth it travels over the seas. Read Less

This was our 2nd cruise and I expected so much more from Royal Caribbean. Oasis was beautiful, however, embarkation was ridiculous and the entire cruise was like this, too many people. Too much waiting in line. I am a patient person but this was ridiculous. Our cabin was a boardwalk balcony and it was far, far away from an elevator or even usable steps so we had to go forward just to go backwards. Ridiculous. Our shower was moldy and stunk and the couch was so dirty we had to cover it with a sheet. Our cabin steward was just OK which is not the usual RC experience. There werre plumbing problems onboard and I washed my hands in nasty black water at one point - unexpected, who knows what it was. My cousins room leaked over their bed in the middle of the night, who knows what that was. It was their 50th wedding anniversary - NOT GOOD! The cigarette smoke from the casino permeates the waiting area for main dining on Deck 3 so you experience that nastiness while waiting to eat twice a day. My Aunt was totally misdiagnosed and mistreated by the ship physician which led to serious problems after she got off the ship. If you are planning to bring someone who needs a wheelchair to embark or disembark - Don't do it....this process is completely inappropriate and time consuming to the point of harmful to the person needing help. Our dining experience was exceptional. We could not have had a better experience in Main Dining. They went above and beyond to allow our extended family to be able to set together and to accomodate my dietary needs. Along with all that they waited on us like both royalty and their best friends. I cannot say enough about our dining experience. Thank you RC for getting this one right. Read Less

The ship was beautiful and the activities for young people were great - surfing, volleyball, basketball etc, but activites for over 60 passengers were limited during the day time. You could certainly get lots of food but the quality was generally fair. Make sure to take you wallet as everything on the ship was for sale. Entertainment at night was really great from broadway shows, ice shows and diving shows to small concerts. Design of the balcony staterooms was impressive with an unique shower design which we have not seen on any of our previous 30 cruises. Shower water pressure and water temperature was great. It was sad that the toilet didn't dunction as well. This is a ship which would be enoyed by those in the 30 to 55 year old age bracket that have not cruise extensively and are looking to party which is promoted by the all you can drink packages. I've been in 3 different ship and I was amazed with this ship. I will surely come back on this one in the future. Staff is very helpful and attentive from the higher management to the their crew. Im a government Contractor who spends most of my time in Afghanistan, and cruise twice every year to get relaxed and refreshed. What I love most about cruising on Oasis is the shear size of the ship and it's ability to transport me to 7 distinct neighborhoods, making it feel like more than "just a cruise". The new layout and locations for Izumi's, Coastal Kitchen, the Suite Lounge and, Diamond club all works out much better than the original configuration of the ship. Although I traditionally cruise in a Grand Suite, on this particular cruise the Sky Loft Suite was available when I booked for the exact same price as a Grand so I decided to try it out. What an outstanding layout, and the convenience of having the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen all right there on deck 17 was really nice ! We are Diamond and stayed in a Grand Suite (9654) the room was disgusting even after bringing to the attention of the room attendant. Discussed the matter with housekeeping manager and nothing changed. There are 7 lights in the bathroom 3 of which were out. Mirrors were all smudged, chips and crumbs in between sofa cyshions. Bathroom fixtures were dull and dirty. The excursion in Falmouth Jamaica was dangerous and should have been cancelled, the wind and swells made it very difficult to board we were ordered off the catamaran at the beach to walk through the swells to Redstripe beach. The beach is filthy, where they take you is near a resort but we were relegated to the ugliest filthiest part. The saving grace was the Coastal kitchen and even there it isn't what it used to be. It's a unique cruise experience on this amazing mega mega ship. We have cruised over 80 times and this is our fourth cruise on this class ship. It would be a good cruise to take if you have any concerns about being on the sea because the ship is so large you forget you are no longer on land. The food was the best we have experienced on any cruise. The entertainment excellent with the exception of Broadway show "Cats". Stage too dark. Show was boring. Cast could sing and dance but didn't have cat-like moves like the Broadway show we saw. We were not the only people who left before the half time intermission. However their original show of Hairsprays was excellent as was Chicago on sister ship Allure. Rating this 4.5 stars. Everything was beyond perfect. Especially Joel and Imade in the main dining room. They always made sure the whole family was satified including our 1 and half year old daughter. Food was great. We got to try some dished we have never had before. Shows were great. Love how most of the staff acknowledged our daughter and shared a smile with her. All the staff was friendly except for one guy(explained below). Labadee, Haiti was an excellent stop. Loved the beach. Overall our favorite out of the 3 ports. PSA: the only negative was that the people in the market don't understand "no thank you" or "I don't want to buy that." We visited first thing once disembarking. I genuinely wanted to find a couple of items that i liked to take home to family and friends... but i was very quickly overwhelmed... I felt like we were being attacked by every merchant pushing us to purchase items be didn't even look at or would consider buying. That may have been because we were the first ones there. I know they are only trying to make some money but i feel like they went over board. I just wanted to yell at them at the top of my lungs to STOP talking to me(of course I didn't do such a rude thing.... but i wanted to... i really did...maybe i should have). non the less, It was terrible.I ended up not even continuing to look for the items i really wanted. But we live and we learn. No more Labadee, Haiti Marketplace for us. .5 off is for the guy in the photo area who made me feel like I was bothering him and inconveniencing him even though we spent $300 on photos. For our 17th cruise we decided to try one of the largest ships, although we had a concern about the ship handling such a large group of passengers, over 6,000. Actually we found the ship handled this problem very well, with one exception, most notable of which was the after diner entertainment. While the few shows/performances we were able to attend were good, getting reservations was extremely difficult, and often impossible, and very disappointing. The process of "registering" for a performance was annoying and standing in line in case registered passengers didn't attend was a waste of time, We've been accustom to diner, some free time, and then a nightly show, and perhaps a midnight comedy act, usually with a Cruise Director making the cruise more enjoyable. Sadly, only one time did we catch a few words from the Cruise Director as he very briefly rode out on an ice machine. I certainly missed the usual hype and performances of past Cruise Directors. The ship was impressively large and always easy to get around .. elevator service was outstanding, and only used the stairs a few times. I especially enjoyed Captain Rob's commentaries, and would say that we never encountered a grumpy employee. The 3 ports were outstanding but because of many past cruises to Jamica and Cozumel we didn't partake in shore excursions, other than the Zip line which was awesome. The ships Island was extremely well done and provided a great day. We chose Royal Caribbean for it's outstanding food, service, friendly employees and in these areas we were more than pleased. Special mention should go to our Waiter, Juliet (table 825, 5:30 sitting) for outstanding service ... on a 1-10 scale she'd be an 11 Read Less

We have cruised many cruises and wanted to try one of the mega ships so we booked the Oasis of the Seas. We had a balcony room mid ship on the 8th floor. The entry to the ship went very smoothly and the port staff was very friendly. The ship appeared very clean, some areas of the ship needed updating like the carpet in the cabins was worn and stained We ate in the Salarium Grill upon entering the ship, food was ok and this was one of few places on the ship not too busy. The windjammer was packed no seats available and the food didn't even look good. The food was very disappointing over all for the entire week. For some reason they had a problem where they can't serve the hot food hot it was always luke warm at best. It seemed like the ship was making the food pretty bad to push the specialty restaurants. We tried the Chops Steakhouse on Tuesday Night and the food was pretty good until it came to dessert. After paying $42.00 a person for the specialty experience you expect some great food. Well the steak was good, most sides were pretty good the dessert was just plain awful. The title of the one was a warm cooking plate and instead we got 3 old dried up cookies nothing warm about them. The next dessert we tried was Red Velvet Cake it looked good but it was dry with a horrible taste. Supposed to have cream cheese frosting and it tasted bad. Tables around us ordered similar desserts and all of them looked like ours and were not eaten and returned to the kitchen with 2 or 3 bites taken out of them. The Ship has many activities to do on the ship, the shows were good but organization was a serious issue. They scheduled a trivia session in the Schooners Bar and nobody could hear what the host was saying because they had music blasting in the Promenade that was so loud that nobody could hear what the host was trying to ask. This was a problem numerous times with other events. The problem was a common problem but the cruise director did nothing to reschedule the event in a less chaotic place on the ship. Biggest disappointment was food for sure..... Steve Smith, Knoxville TN Read Less
