Looks like there has been one cut too many. Poor food presentation. Most food arrived cold and menu items unavailable or incorrect in main dining room. Quality of food was terrible. School dinners are better on most days. Even specialty restaurants struggle to provide a reasonable standard of food. 150 Central Park was the best experience on board but Chops Grill has fallen into obscurity. Kids loved the Flowrider but weren't interested in the kids club. Evening entertainment was mixed with Headline act (Rookie) very good, come fly with me and Dive shows need a lot of work with no real continuity in story line. Ship is large but soon feels small and only takes a day or two to get acclimatized to. Most shops are selling the usual jewellery/watches without any variety. Price of Wine was highly inflated at about 300/400% above shop bought prices (then add the 18% tip). White Party that the kids were looking forward to didn't really happen but they enjoyed the dreamworks parade. Staff were always polite and cabins clean. Read Less

Below are the comments I sent to RC about our recent cruise on the Oasis. I think that it contains important things to know before booking. |During the production show "Come Fly with Me", my husband was in the front row and the blond flying acrobat flew off the stage into him. We are very upset that no one came to insure my husband was okay or uninjured. (He has a massive bruise on his shin.) Accidents happen, but the fact that no one checked on him is completely unacceptable! The RC sanctioned island tour and shopping in Jamaica was a complete joke. The tour was disjointed and made no sense, the very expensive lunch was uneatable (we had no options since they took us to their private venue), and the shopping was in very sketchy areas. Essentially, we spent the day trapped on a shuttle. The food in the Windjammer and the main dining room was really good which surprised us after our last RC cruise where it was disgusting. In particular, the pastry chef and his staff deserve accolades for the taste and beauty of the desserts! Our dining room dinner wait staff was rather dreadful and very hit or miss. They did better the last night but were still not as good as the lunch or breakfast waiters in the dining room. The staff in the Windjammer did a good job of keeping tables cleaned, and the food areas full. One other thing food related is the pizza in Sorento's. It is really awful and one of the worst we have experienced. There is very little sauce which makes it very dry. One of the few soda dispensing machines (one of two on deck 5) was broken during our entire cruise. Considering there are only 6 machines on a ship this massive is ridiculous and on top of that only 5 which work is unacceptable. Of the 2 that are accessible anytime, only 1 was working so there were long lines which was annoying and blocked the walkway past the machines. In the past, we have purchased various pieces of art while cruising but decided to avoid the auction on this ship due to the venue size. It was very small and crowded which made it impossible to view and enjoy the auction. This actually became an issue throughout the cruise. Nearly every activity we attended, the venue was to small for the crowd. This could be due to either the activity being held in a venue that was to small or the lack of things to do on the ship. There were very few activities on the ship that were not sports (all sports including rock climbing/flow rider etc.) related. On a ship this large and with the rarity of the alternate activities, they quickly became overcrowded.| Read Less

This ship is way too big for the crew to adequately serve the guests. It is like being trapped on a floating combination zoo/theme park. The addition of all the specialty restaurants seems to have impacted the quality of the food in the dining room (encouraging you to eat out?). With all the lines and crowds one is tempted to just stay in the cabin - only the movie selection is horrible, so that doesn’t work. We are Diamond Plus, so we have been cruising RCI for many years. I am sure this is our last cruise on this line. Gone are the days when you felt pampered and special and when you came home and raved about the food to your friends. I think we would have had the same, if not a better experience at Disney World! The ports were ok but that has nothing to do with the ship. The entertainment and activities were so predictable it was like watching reruns. Every time there was an “event” the Main Street was so crowded and the elevators so jammed it was better to just stay away or risk getting trampled. The port (Port Canaveral) is super easy to access. Unloading, parking and check-in are quick and easy a big plus. Read Less

This was our 34th cruise with RCCL. We have very high expectations from this cruise line as we are Crown & Anchor society members. Well after this cruise last week, we were extremely dissappointed. The Oasis which we have been on several times lacked enthusiasm from the staff. The food was no longer a thrill. Unless you wanted to pay additional for Filet Mignon and Lobster you had substandard food and pretty much the same starters and dessert every night. We ended up eating at the Windjammer with our party of 8 which we booked as we bragged about how amazing this cruise line had been in the past. In the windjammer cafe (buffet) I had to ask for them to clean my table and I had to request more dressing as they did not replenish unless it was requested. Needless to say we were embarrassed by the entire experience. The beds were hard as a rock. The couch in our room was filthy and the balcony had dirty railings and a burned out light. The photo shop on the ship lost our group photos and they could not recover them as that was our memories with all of our family members. Needless to say we have sailed our last cruise with Royal Carribean and we will even cancel our rewards credit card with them. The best part of the cruise was the comedy show ! A must see!!!! Rakesh our head waiter in the my time dining was amazing and tried to tend to our needs. The food selection was the problem not the wait staff! William our cabin steward was accommodating but could only do so much with the bed issue! Read Less

We were super excited about going on the biggest ship in the world (it was when we booked it, then the Symphony came along and ruined that plan :) ) I had written a nice long review about the ship and its features but opted for an easier to read version. The boat is huge but still crowded. there aren't enough seats inside to house everyone at night, especially if its raining and the aqua theatre is closed. Don't believe me? there's a lounge for suites guests so they can go relax in their own little haven away from the 6000 other guests. Food: Windjammer - basics like burgers and hot dogs are on at lunch and dinner, and are cruise ship average. Entree options are decent for lunch and dinner, if a little bland. Food is constantly cold. Honestly didn't eat a hot meal in windjammer my entire vacation. Main Dining Room - Options are good. Food was hot, service impeccable. Food was too salty for me but still a decent option. The Smart portion of Smart Casual attire wasn't enforced. I noticed a fair number of guests dining in Short and T's or baseball jerseys without an issue. Sabor Mexican Grill - Food was great, service was average. Entertainment: You MUST pre-book your entertainment and you MUST attend on the night you planned to see it. if you don't, you'll have to queue at Guest services to rebook or remove your reservation, and who wants to stand there while you are on holiday? Comedians were good, one was a little racist, but not in the usual funny way, sounded more like an angry drunk than someone pointing out the cultural differences in an entertaining manner. Ship: For it being a $5million a week boat it certainly doesn't look like it (6000guess x $750 = $4.5m, I rounded up as 750 is the inside cabin rate) The ship is generally unclean, the windows are streaky, there's dust everywhere (look in the corners) and it just looked generally dated. Would I go again?: No. I can excuse the ageing of the boat, it is getting a bit older. I can excuse the food, its impossible to cater to everyone taste. I can excuse the weird booking system for shows. What I cant excuse is all of them together. Too many little things on board made it difficult to enjoy. I'm still glad I experienced it, but I wouldn't do it again. Read Less

A group of seven family and friends traveled to destinations we had not yet been on aboard a ship that we had not yet traveled. The positives were that there are some beautiful areas on the ship to visit and the shows were wonderful. The negatives were rude customer service reps that were unable to address problems. Bar experiences were quite lacking and the drinks ordered were not great. Phones were always staticy. We had trouble with our door closer on the balcony and on the door constantly whistled. We had multiple problems with reservations for dining as well as rude hostess staff in the main dining room. We were overcharged for services purchased onboard and yet they have NOT been resolved. I'm a travel agent who likes to travel to new places so I can give my clients a great experience and this is NOT one that I would recommend. Read Less

We have been sailing on Royal Caribbean for many years and have always had a great time! Here are a few of the troubling things that we encountered on this recent cruise on the Oasis of the Seas. 1) Our cabin steward was very pleasant however for a newer ship we found the sofa to be very worn and stained. 2) The Toilet had a black moldy ring around the water line that could be removed with the proper cleaning material. Was very unpleasnat each time we used the toilet. 3) The internet connection was the worst we have ever encountered, we complained about the one day that we could not even use it and they gave us credit for the day, however when we cruise we need for business reasons we have to have quality service. 4) We had my time dinning so we could do our own thing. We encountered in the upstairs dinning room one evening a feeling of being rushed as they cleaned all tables around us and never even asked us if we wanted coffee. They even were cleaning things off of our table while we were still sitting there. 5) In the downstairs dinning room when we sat in the same area we were asked numerous times how was the service and to please give her a 10 on the ratings. Once was sufficent but she just kept going over her routine over and over again. 6) One evening in Dazzles or one of the clubs we actually saw the guitar player snorting what appeared to be cocaine before he went on stage. VERY Disturbing!!! Read Less

Loyal Royal carribean travellor who is disappointed in many aspects of there service, cost cutting in simple luxuries no chocolates on pillows, now getting many items pre packaged not fresh, dining room staff only interested in survey satisfaction scores, food Luke warm and bland, waiters wanted us to order all 3 courses on an evening, when I prefer to order desert after main course. Oasis is now looking a little tired and ready for a refit. The entertainment was geared to the American clientele, however I feel places should stay true to there roots and I had to walk out of the British pub on a couple of evenings after the Canadian guitarist appeared inebriated. The cabin was clean and as described, the Comedy show was very good the food in other venues was satisfactory and I am not usually a fan of the Wind jammer however it was a welcome change from the American Icon especially for breakfast. Overall if I wasn’t a seasoned cruiser and I know this was a bad experience, if it was my my first cruise experience I would not return Read Less

Because we live in Cocoa Beach/Melbourne area and wanted to try a mega ship cruise. We concluded that is not for us. We prefer Celebrity for the size and design of the ships we have been on. We will never go back on huge ships again. The Oasis' design is such that Central Park is open air. When it rains, people cannot go there and they are jammed packed in other venues. Not for me. We are being bombarded with marketing ad nauseam. The drink packages are ridiculous for our age group. We don't drink from morning 'till night. The bar/lounges have no view of the ocean. The music that we wanted to hear was always scheduled for later in the evening. Conclusion, we now know that we really do not belong on a ship like that. We'll stick to smaller ships with design/configuration more enjoyable at our age. We are not old but older and active and appreciate different life style. Read Less

We liked the open places where you could walk under the open sky. The feel of being om 6'th floor and look up at the open sky is fantastic. The food was really good. I recommend having ala'carte dinner at the silk/grand instead of the buffet. The port of Labadee, Falmouth and Cozumel is different in each their own way. Amazing beaches and activities on each places. Snorkling is a must, we found thousand of fishes. The shows on board was really fantastic, great performance like the best shows at home. Recommend the Come fly with me, Frozen in Time, Stand up shows, Oasis of the dreams, The Quest. The staff is really friendly and always a smile. Decided to propose and get a fancy suite for the occasion. The strawberries and champagne were to arrive night one at 8pm. After it got to be 8:30, I called room service and they indicated they would call back. Never heard back. When I spoke with concierge the next day, they said I requested for the following day. After I showed my email with the correct date, didn’t even receive an apology. Was just trying to make everything special and the flow of the proposal was kind of thrown off. When they did arrive the next night, the card even reference the date from the day before. Other issues: Pictures from our 1st night never showed up on our picture card. Sad we never got them back so we setup a studio appointment at picture this. Very nice photos but extremely expensive. The packages went up to $3500, with the cheapest being $550 for 6 digital pics. Water in shower suite fluctuates from Luke warm to scolding hot constantly. Crew pressure washing windows at 2:30 am on two separate nights. Waited for 30 minutes in excursion line in Mexico and no one ever showed. When we called, we were told it was there and we didn’t go. We may have made an error and went to the Liberty excursion line, but the signage was very poor. Regardless, we didn’t any cared after they got our money. The positives were the dining experiences at the specialty restaurants. Probably the best part of the experience and we’ll worth the price to upgrade. 150 Park is the best of them. Another positive was the unboarding process with a suite. We were out in 15 minutes and avoided all the lines at customs. Overall, I was very disappointed and didn’t feel I got the value for what we paid or that anyone cared about the issues. I’ll probably pay a few extra bucks and try Regent next time. Read Less

My husband and I went on the Oasis of the Seas in 2014 and we loved it. We booked the Oasis again for 2017 but it was postponed due to hurricane Irma. We rescheduled for April 2018. I happened to be 18 weeks pregnant this time around so I knew it wouldn't be quite as fun since I couldn't do any of the fun excursions, but I figured it would be a nice relaxing vacation. The boarding process went smoothly. When we showed up there were tons of people and a long line but it moved quickly and we were on board within an hour. Our rooms were ready so we were able to unpack the carry on bags. Our other bags arrived a few hours later. The first sign of something being different came when we were boarding the ship. There were tons of staff members trying to sell us things- mostly dining packages. It was annoying and weird. I don't want to start my vacation being bombarded by people trying to sell me things. Pretty much the rest of the cruise felt that way...I've been on 5-6 cruises and I have never felt nickled and dimed until this cruise. Popcorn during a movie cost $2.50 plus 18% gratuity. The costs really didn't matter but the popcorn wasn't fresh and did not taste good and that's how things felt the whole cruise- like we were getting charged extra for things and they just weren't that good. The Johnny Rockets cover has doubled or tripled since we last went. It used to be a good deal but at $9.95 (plus the 18% gratuity they add to everything) it's no longer worth the price. We tried tapas in the wine bar on night and they were unevenly heated and had obviously been microwaved. The wine bar costs extra so we had to pay for food that we didn't even eat because it was so bad. I'm definitely no foodie and I'm really not that picky of an eater, but the food on this cruise just wasn't very good. The main dining room food was okay and the buffet food was bad. The dining highlight was sushi. It was good and we would have gone again if we had the time. We wanted to try the hibachi but it costs $46 per person. I would consider paying that if I know the hibachi is good but given our bad experiences with the food we just decided not to risk it. I read a review from a few years ago saying the hibachi was $25 per person. Royal Caribbean has obviously raised their prices quite a bit over the past few years, yet the food and service have gotten worse. So many of the daily activities revolved around getting our money and buying overpriced things. Since I'm pregnant and a bit more tired than usual my husband and I spent a few hours on sea days in our room watching TV. Most of the channels revolved around the ship & company (a port shopping channel, one channel that just plays the safety video over and over again) and there were only about 4 or 5 channels that would have movies and TV shows. Most of the time there really wasn't anything to watch on TV, so I caught up on reading instead. I've never been as disappointed with a cruise (or any vacation) as I was with this one. We loved Oasis so much in 2014 and it's so disappointing to see what it's becoming. Royal Caribbean is all about money now. They'd rather nickle and dime you than try to get repeat customers. The service on the ship was pretty bad. It just seemed like a lot of the staff didn't want to be there or are unhappy with their jobs. The exception would be our main dining room waiter and our stateroom attendant. Both of them were friendly, professional, and great. There are so many other companies out there to try, we definitely won't be wasting our time with Royal Caribbean anymore. Vacation wasn't all bad- it was really great getting to spend so much time with my husband. This is likely the last vacation we will take as a couple and we'll soon have to figure out how to add a baby into our travel plans. I hate complaining so much, I just would really recommend that people look somewhere other than the Oasis for their next trip- it just wasn't a very good experience. It should have been so much better. Read Less

For our 30th anniversary and we have never been on a Royal Caribbean cruise but we have heard how great they were. The room was very small and it was a balcony. The steward was excellent . The main dining room is good and the service was excellent but they should have a better menu selection. The buffet was good but very crowded . I like how they find a table for you but the menu was only ok. The recreation activities were excellent with no crowds. The 150 Central Park restaurant was excellent but the other fancy restaurants are too expensive because they have fees + a la cart options . The shows were all disjointed and made no sense. They do have some very talented performers but not good story lines. The fitness and spa area was over priced and there fitness staff is unqualified but that is the same on all cruise lines. They promote alcohol way too much and shopping is too much also. The cruise director was very low energy and boring. We had issues with our excursions because my wife was sick and customer did nothing to try and fix it. Labadee Haiti was beautiful and I will go back. The ship is huge but very easy to navigate. I liked the art auctions and the ship was beautiful. Embarkation was horrible it took 2 hours to board and we were early. Even though we had issues I will go back. Read Less

Started with having to get on ship late due to inspection. Once finally on the ship, we could not get into our room for 2 hours which meant we had to carry all our carry ons around with us while trying to figure out the ship. Customer service was mediocre at best and in most areas was very poor (waiters in the Windjammer rarely asked about getting us beverages and several times did not at all. Multiple unpleasant and rude bar tenders). Multiple issues with broken equipment (including our room refrigerator, several pop machines and at least half of the arcade games). Other than entertainment, we were highly dissatisfied. After having an amazing experience last year on the Magesty, this trip was very disappointing. I will not be recommending RC to others as I have in the past and am unsure if we will personally vacation with RC again in the future. Read Less

Outstanding Crew members: Howard, room steward for cabin 10684--provided bed board for too soft mattress Champagne bar: Mukesh Mandal: knowledgable, always remembered drinks and names, wonderful smile; great hospitality. Hitesh (from Mauritius) at Giovanni's- Great, personable waiter! Hector Rosal: Master Gardener for Central Park--informative presentation in Central Park; talented professional Dining: 150 Central Park staff was unfriendly, aloof, slow service, limited food choices Did not like that only 2 dining venues were open when at shore (Windjammer & Park Cafe) ...Although wish we had discovered the AMAZING beef sandwich inn the Park Cafe earlier---great, fresh food for breakfast and lunch there! Bagels cooked to order for breakfast--not found in Windjammer--not even a toast station! Food in Windjammer was consistently poor, over cooked, room temperature at breakfast and lunch. Chops: Had lunch here twice--limited menu but pretty good. Service was top notch. Izumi: All wines by the glass were priced over the $13 package price requiring an up charge there for wine. Entertainment: Great dance band on the Promenade but no place to dance! Loved the EdgeEffect singing group but not as the same headline show every time--no changes at all from one night to the next...right down to the order of songs and comments made by singers. Same with the Aqua Theater show...same show each time with no variety from one night to the next. Comedy team BORING and NOT funny! (Heard this from several others, too) Insulting humor is NOT humorous! Only fresh burger on the ship at Johnny Rockets, then a $6.95 upcharge! Outrageous!! Why not a grill on the pool deck? Library: generally an afterthought. Many volumes in foreign languages. Shelves were nearly empty. Diamond Member "exclusives": seriously, a BOGO milkshake or glass of wine, beer or soda? Only decent perks on the list were the one day of internet pp and the free 8 x 10 photo and 3 free drinks (but with limited hours). Why not take off $40/day on the drink package since the drink value is $13/drink? That way a $500 pp package for 7 days would cost only $220? Went to the Diamond Club once (AFTER we finally found it due to mis-directions onboard ship signs). Coffee machine wasn't working. Only 3 other people there. Ports: Just poor! Labadee beach was too rocky to swim in, mobbed with people looking for shade, drinks were all sickeningly sweet fruit drinks or just beer. Water almost impossible to find. No wine. Food served buffet style was worse than in the cafeteria on board. Jamaica port (Falmouth) is billed as the Historical Port of Falmouth but was just built a few years ago. Big draw here was Margaritaville, which is in the 'walled' town (built for tourists) but it was crowded, hot, and overpriced. Cozumel--well, not much to say--everyone's been there at least twice! Pushy store owners, over priced stores. Disembarkation and Embarkation were easy and efficient. We have sailed 12 Celebrity cruises, 2 Azamara...wanted to try RCCL. Won't be sailing RCCL/Oasis again. This ship was entirely tooooooo big and tooooooo much commotion for our tastes! Just too many people and unfortunately too many un-supervised/un-parented children. We felt it was more like a floating continuous carnival or wild playground than a cruise. If we had been on the cruise with our grandchildren, it would have been a much better experience for us and a great one for them, but we were looking for a nice relaxing, get-away, rejuvenating cruise........this was not. Let's start with our cabin - Central Park Balcony (#12643). Our friends had been on this ship and in this type cabin before and really enjoyed it. They were with us on this cruise in the same type of cabin right next door to us and experienced the same issues. As a matter of fact, we both complained. We headed to our cabin as soon as they are ready. We walk through the door to a loud motor noise, constant loud hum. Thinking it just may be something with initial boarding, we let it go. When we headed back to our cabin to get ready for dinner, the noise is still there and just as loud. We complained to guest services and our cabin attendant, who was wonderful the entire time. She made phone calls and someone (an officer, I believe) came to our cabin. They noticed the noise we are complaining about and went to "check it out". In a few minutes the noise was gone. Next morning, it was back. We complained again, as did our friends. That afternoon maintenance came to our friends cabin and started making phone calls. It turns out our cabins were directly under the kids splash pad and pool area. The noise was from the pumps operating the water for that area. The pumps would be shut off from 8 at night until 9 in the morning, which was nice so we could sleep, but did nothing for us during the day. As a matter of fact, the noise was even louder on our balcony. So we could not enjoy what was supposed to be a lovely cabin and balcony, which as you know typically are not cheap. Look closely at where your cabin is located when booking. If directly under the pool area, AVOID IT. You would think if homes can be sound-proofed for noise from airport runways, cabins on the cruise ship could be sound-proofed from the pool pump noises. Another issue were all the "technical" issues with a couple of the shows. The first night was the ice show. It stopped for about 10 minutes of the performance due to "technical issues". Next night was the production Cats. The last 2 songs were not performed due to "technical issues". The Oasis of Dreams show seemed to be performed OK. We never went to another show because we were tired of the disappointments. We learned one thing - we prefer the Explorer class and below on ship sizes. Read Less

Traveled during Spring break with husband and 7 and 2 year old sons. Have been on many cruises (15-20), most recently Disney Fantasy. Stayed in Grand Balcony Suite. Ship is huge with lots of activities which cater more to teenagers in my opinion. It seems that because the ship has so many facilities RCL doesn’t see the need to provide as much onboard organized activities as they did in the past - relatively little live music for example, as one night a guitar player played for literally only 30 minutes. Nursery room was a plus - 2 yr old quite happy there - although my 7 year old far preferred the kids room on Disney and I heard another parent say the same about their child. Biggest complaint is that they aren’t equipped to handle this many passengers and don’t seem to have their act together- for example, you have to wait in line at mealtime, the 3 Purell dispensers at entrance to kids area were always empty, activities were canceled or rescheduled since the Planner was printed the night before and no one tells you. I caught a stomach virus and met another passenger who did too and it’s no wonder. Chops and 150 Park meals were very rushed and we had to wait about 10 minutes for my cocktail because whatever bar they went to “was backed up”. Hibachi was a bright spot and great experience. Suite was also a positive in that it was quite roomy, even for 4. Finally the ship is showing a lot of wear and tear. Back to Disney Fantasy for spring break next year. We won’t be back on Oasis. Second time on Oasis, fourth overall time cruising with RC. I was a loyal customer to RC, first two times cruising were on Freedom Class ships. Went on Oasis 2 years ago and had a blast, just back from Oasis, not pleased. So I'm going to jump around I'm sure while I type this out so I apologize. Lets begin with our first stop, the beautiful RC resort of Labadee. We never got off. Unfortunately, last minute the captain came over and said we were not going to be docking due to the waves coming over the pier right where its about to connect to land. We were no more than 25-30 feet away from the pier and ready to dock. I got up early to watch and was able to see the waves going over the pier, yes they were splashing over but it was not terrible. The forecast was for a sunny day. My complaint is, there was no waiting a little bit to see if things got better. I say this because the wind was dying down and the sun was supposed to come out. We just pulled back out and left, no explanation from the captain that the weather forecast was not favorable for the waves to die down in the near future. Just backed out of the port and left. Good news was we were going to get into Falmouth two hours early. Great, right? Wrong. We booked an excursion and due to the meeting time, would not have enough time to explore. You'd think since were going earlier, our excursion would be earlier right? Wrong. Prior to the new arrival time, we had accepted that exploring outside of the excursion time frame was not feasible. But with the new arrival time, we were initially excited but in the long end of it, didn't mean anything to people who booked excursions. We did the Dunns river falls and bamboo beach club excursion. yes it was neat to see the falls but you spend 1/4 of the day standing/sitting around waiting and a 1/4 of the day driving (that's understandable). Also to the two older Danish women who were on my bus and i hope read this, thanks for wasting 45 minutes of everyone's time trying on 10 pairs of water shoes, we should have left you on that island. FUN FACT: I was told from multiple people that Disney and RC were going to stop going to Falmouth and ending their contract or however they do it. Why? The island is supposedly dangerous (haha) and the people are very pushy. But due to the recent hurricanes and destruction of other ports, RC was "forced" to sign another two year contract. The last stop was Cozumel, which the captain said would be partly sunny. So we booked a last minute beach excursion because we missed the beach time at Labadee. It poured ALL DAY. So the frustration was high. Side note, if you do a beach excursion that includes alcohol, be weary of the bottom shelf tequila your served. You may find yourself basking in the sea enjoying your down pouring cloudy day, to gargling sea water and dying on your beach chair. (gotta make light of this all right?) Great i think that covers the ports. NEXT! RC i think cut out a lot of daily at sea activities compared to my time on Oasis two years ago. Which i have no idea why. But what they do have now for activities is still pretty good. Booked the comedy show for an at sea day online well before the cruise date because its impossible to get in if you don't. Well for some reason it never showed up when we got onto the ship. Went to guest services and they couldn't do anything because the shows now, were all booked. Very frustrating. Anyone going on this ship in the very near future, look at the air intake vent right above your cabin door inside the room. Use your flashlight on your phone so you can see inside the vent. Yes you will be breathing that all in on your trip. For those wondering, it was caked in dust and god only knows what else. It was absolutely disgusting. I don't blame the stateroom attendant because its clearly a HVAC persons job since then vent cover has screws that need to be undone to clean inside of it. That's definitely not the state room attendants job. Room was cleaned at least twice a day and have no complaints there, she did a great job. Dining room was great and staff were fantastic. Food was great in there. Windjammer cafe, well its buffet food, it was as good as buffet food will ever be. Bars were great but service on the pool decks was very slow, but then again those were at sea days and the weather was great so there was a lot of people on the decks getting lost in the sauce. Staff in general were great but did occasionally find a bartender who seemed grumpy, but with that many guests, I'm sure they had their fair share of impossible to please guests. If you decide to hang out in the the Solarium on one of those fantastic looking lounge chairs. Just be weary and double check them before you commit to that one. Many are old and sagging a lot, or even torn. Found myself on more than one occasion having to move because I was laying on top of the aluminum supports underneath the fabric. Not comfortable for a day you planned on relaxing. But last complaint for anyone who may not have noticed. The points on cruises from their older benefits tiers have changed. I have cruised 34 days in total and am somehow short one point to the next level above gold. I called RC and after a brief conversation consisting in short of me being told to pound sand, I still am a gold member, remember people I have cruised 34 days with them and am still in the first level. If i book another cruise with them, do i get to reap the benefits of the next tier after day one of my cruise? NOPE! I do not get to enjoy anything until the cruise after. For those of you who had made it this far reading the review, no I do not live close enough to a port to do a quick 3 day cruise with RC. All in all, it will be a very long time till I sail with RC again, if at all. Princess cruise lines, your up next, I've heard great things. Read Less

I have sailed on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines 3 Different times on 2 Ships. The Freedom of the Seas and The Mariner of the Seas. We loved them both. We thought The Oasis of the Seas would be even better ! WRONG, it was worse, much worse. Being a Gold Member didn't help the 2-1/2 hour wait in line to board, so much for Priority Check In. The very first thing we noticed was the overcrowded elevators. Many times we would have to wait for another elevator, they were packed with people. It didn't take long to figure out why we were always waiting in line. TOO many people for the ship's size! Mariner of the Seas had 16 elevators with a capacity of 3807 people. The Oasis has 24 elevators with 6680 capacity of people. WOW that is crowded. We never made reservations for the shows on any other cruise ship, but you have to on the OASIS. The Main Theater on the Mariner had 1348 seats, and the Oasis had 1380. No wonder we couldn't see all the shows. By the 2nd day when we found out we had to make reservations, well it was too late, we were told we would have to placed on standby for the shows, thus you don't see them all. The library was the smallest I have ever seen, plus there were hardly any books. The Windjammer Buffet, was so crowded it was a state of frenzy, which many times turned into yet another waiting line. If you wanted a seat around the pool area you better decide by 9AM or they are gone for the rest of the day. For a ship that is only 175 feet longer the size to capacity ratio is Way Off. Crowds and lines, not an atmosphere of relaxing but frenzy. After the 2nd day my wife and I knew we made a mistake. The dining, well the pastries had NO taste, however they looked good. Thats enough about the Oasis. Read Less

Western Caribbean. Unable to dock and get off in Haiti, security warnings in Jamaica and Cozumel so really never able to really "experience" the countries we were supposed to visit. Most excursions were cancelled. Cruise line needs to find alternate venues. Have had much better cruise experience with other cruise lines. Enjoyed seen Kennedy Space Center and visiting some family living in Florida. Ship was almost too big, large crowds making it hard to get into some of the shows and find seats together unless one of the first to get there. Ports are obviously owned by and kick backs to the cruise lines. Too many jewelry stores where we would have enjoyed other types of stores. Prices seem almost fixed. Have received much better bargains/bargaining in the actual cities with other cruises. Considered unsafe to go into town (out of port areas) in these countries. Cruise line really needs to find other venues and countries to visit where safety is not such a great concern. If we had known about the risks of the countries offered, would have picked a different cruise, certainly would never cruise with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

We chose this ship for the ports of call and we didn't even get to set foot on the first location, haiti. The second, jamaica was great. but, we had to take our lives in our own hands to educate ourselves about the terroristic activities on our own because even after the american embassy in mexico was closed for safety concerns, the cruise staff directly lied to our faces and denied any problems with the ferry trips over to playa del carmen to participate in royal caribbean sponsored shore excursions. Only to wait and cancel all our pre-planned and pre-paid excursions to that area the night before. Although we did receive a refund of our money, all the comparable shore excursions were already booked full and the staff couldn't care less. there was a diamond in the ruff to be found amongst it all; his name was daniel and he worked in the tiffany & co. Boutique. He was the sweetest and genuine fella we met during the whole week. Not once did he poke his nose up at us in a snobby manner. In fact, this redneck girl's amazing husband just so happened to purchase a nice gift for me in that very store. Food was nothing to write home about. They definitely pushed the specialty dining over and over for another charge. We will give our business to a different cruise line next time. Read Less

Sailed on Harmony once before and thought this would be a good selection. It was "Sticky" everywhere. Like coke had been spilled on every surface. The hand Rails were nasty, The computer keyboards in the card room were unreadable because they letters were worn off. Chairs all over the ship were torn or damaged. The dining rooms were not able to feed everyone without long waits (except for the specialty restaurants). Drink packages were absurd price wise for soda/water. Took Shuttle from MLB to Port Canaveral which was better than port Everglades as far as convenience The water show on the ship was not near as good as Harmony. Because we did book a Junior Suite it made it easier to Embark and DisEmbark I don't really think RCCL can handle this many people and do a good job. I seriously doubt if we would consider cruising with them again. Read Less

The Windjammer cafe tables were ALWAYS sticky and dirty. It seems they are not cleaned besides light sweeping and the buildup of grime over the years is simply shocking! See my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RKGet12Cjg The food was so-so, often bland and repetitive. Silk staff was professional and friendly, always smiling and ready to help. Windjammer staff seemed to have an attitude of an underpaid workers whose only form of protest is doing their job poorly. Few people were friendly (mainly a young man from Ukraine and several girls from Asia). There were, however, quite a few workers with grim or indifferent facial expression, especially those who brought new food or removed food at the end of the meal. Ice cream was almost always too melted, it was rather a milkshake than ice cream. The room was VERY CLEAN and I'm pleased with that. Not enough entertainment for people who don't like modern annoying music. And not enough cozy places where one who want a quite, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, without being constantly disturbed and annoyed with rap and the cacophony of other whining so-called "music". I'm not old, but I don't like modern "music", and I'm sure there are many people like this. I've seen a lot of elderly people on this ship and I'm not sure an average grandma would appreciate this modern "music" and all that whining as if there's dog in heat! All in all, I would not take another Royal Caribbean cruise, although I have already bought and paid for an European cruise this coming summer, so I'm stuck... I don't think I would want to cruise with this company again. Read Less

Traveling with a group that scheduled this cruise 2 years ago. The only really good things were the embarkation & disembarkation! While the lines were long during embarkation, it went smoothly & didn't take long. Disembarkation was a breeze because we choose to drag our bags - in line about 530am - on the road by 7am! Cabin #12-178: reminded me of a very old motel room - couch was stained, run down that we would not sit on - only 2 drawers to put stuff - could hardly get to the closet to hang our things - rug was dirty - we had to wipe down the railings on the balcony, hair from last cruise! Dining: our waiters were the best thing about the cruise!!! 1st sitting, table 905 - they did their best to make up for a very limited menu - same dull sides every night - meat was either over cooked or raw - you could only order med rare or med well - took your chances on how it would appear on your plate - my wife ordered med well & it came out raw! fish was under cooked - must have had lots of shrimp, if you ordered 1 your got 2!!! Service Desk: We were told because of the "new" ship being launched RC had taken the "experienced" staff to man that ship - some of our entertainment was cancelled due to weather - ok - but we were never told when it had been rescheduled - entertainment staff would contact us about reschedule - never did, but when we went back to the service to check, we were told "someone" had called & talked to us, it was in the computer - we never talked to anyone & was told if it was in the computer, it must have happened!! It was like we were called lairers!!! Shore excursions: we understand that the area is still recovering, but only 5 hours in port does not give you a lot of time to do things! Longest time, all day, at the RC island! Bottom line: it will be hard to get us to go back to RC, 2nd cruise with them - 1st on Freedom was so much better - way to many people for us! Read Less

We have been on different cruise lines in the past which were amazing and so we were very excited and looking forward to this cruise. Sadly, it was such a disappointment. The cabin was dingy and in need of repairs. Not nearly as nice as cabins that we've stayed in on other cruise lines such as Celebrity and Carnival. The food was probably the biggest let down. We had other cruises to compare the food to and this cruse fell way short. The last dinner I could tolerate in the Grande dining room was when my fish was under cooked. Rock hard dinner rolls and night after night of the same sides of bland mash potatoes left us dreaming of when we would be eating at home again. Believe me, I wish I could have written a better review. We saved for this cruise and it's not like we wanted to complain. I will never recommend this cruise line to any of my friends. Read Less
