Overall we had a good time, but I think Carnival has many improvements to be made. Getting on and off the ship was very easy. I recommend doing the online check-in. You don't have to be there right at your scheduled time. We purchased the drink passes and found it to be well worth the money if you plan on having quite a few mixers. Beer drinkers may be better off paying per beer as they are only about 5 bucks. The bars were fairly quick, it was very annoying to have to sign a receipt every time you ordered a drink even if you had the drink package (you don't have to do that on Royal Caribbean). The buffet was always very crowded, long lines for food and trouble finding an open table. Guys burgers was awesome, as long as there is no line, the pizza bar was terrible, very thin burnt crust pizza. We had breakfast in the Silver dining room, food was great but the service was very slow. Late dinner at 8:15 in the Silver dining room was great. Service was fantastic and the waiters put on a great show for you. Food portions were very small but you can order multiple appetizers and entrees. We did not order room service because we had an interior cabin and did not spend much time in there. The main pool was a disaster. The pool is tiny and was covered up with kids. The music coming from the speakers was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. The volume was excessive all the time. Movies music it didn't matter. The adult only pool, however, was great. Crowded at times and had its fair share of drunks by the end of the day, but overall was great, music was very low and seating was normally available. The bar there was great. I cant speak for the night life as we go to bed fairly early because we enjoy getting up early and watching the ship pull into port. We did not attend any of the shows or the comedy clubs but did hear good things about them from our family that attended. My favorite part of the ship had to be the casino. It was very open and not too smokey, the machines are spread out and the bar was great. It was the perfect spot to hang out before and after dinner in the Silver dinning room. We did get frustrated a few times especially on the first few days trying to navigate our way around the ship. Some places you have to go up or down a floor to get to them. Not many signs or helpful maps. The muster drill was not fun at all. They herd you out on the decks like cattle and make you stand way too close to other people. It was very hot and took forever as they only released certain stations at a time. The ship had very little movement that i noticed except for one night we had to go back to Nassau due to a medical emergency and the ship was moving a ton until we got back. Many parts of the ship you could feel a vibration especially towards the back from the engines. We were on the 6th floor aft, the room was nice and we didn't feel any movement, but certain nights they were having events in the atrium and at 10:30 at night it was very loud in our room. The room was great, could have used a few more outlets and the door did not seal well as we could hear everything in the hallway. They do not give you an iron in the room, and i was told there was only one iron per floor that you have to share with everyone else, which is ridiculous. We had to wear our wrinkly shirts we crammed into our one check in bag we were allowed. We did not do any excursions, Nassau was okay, the walk to the public beach is very long and not worth it. Free port we got off and just did some shopping close to the ship and got back on. Overall this ship is in need of some upgrades, you could see many rust spots on the outside of the ship and was normally the oldest looking of all the ships at port with us. For the price this cruise is not bad for maybe a younger couple looking to have a good time. For people wanting to relax I would take you money to another cruise line or a different ship. In my experience it has been well worth the money to book a cruise that will not be overcrowded. Read Less

We selected this cruise last minute as a birthday celebration and booked it only a few weeks before departure. We booked a Grand Suite and we really enjoyed all the extra space in the cabin. However, there are really no perks to getting a suite on this ship other than a few free bottles of water and priority check in. Embarkation is a breeze with priority check in. We went through security and right onto the ship. Our keys were waiting for us in the cabin. When did turn down service start on the 2nd night of the cruise? One of the biggest problems on this ship is muster drill. They are still lining you up outside in the rain by the lifeboats for 40 minutes. Being unable to manage stairs, we went down early to avoid the mandatory stair trip. So that added even more time to the lengthy stand against the wall with people 6 deep. People that would not shut up long enough to listen to the drill and leaders that did absolutely nothing to control these people. This experience had anxiety attack written all over it. Next we have the unending PA announcements at all hours of the day and night. This is absolutely ridiculous when you are trying to sleep and you have to hear about some activity that you "must" attend every 20 minutes. Or, the employee drills, is there a reason I need to hear this alarm in my room when I'm trying to sleep? Then we have the paper thin walls so that you can hear the toilet flush in the next cabin, or the loads of rude passengers running up and down the hallways and sometimes knocking on your door. Or blocking the hallways with their "get togethers" and impromptu conversations. There is a level of passenger on this ship that is not the norm of cruise passengers and I believe that is due to the price of the cruise and the locale. So, if you are used to a more reserved crowd that knows social etiquette, this is NOT the ship for you. I got to the point where I just didn't want to leave the cabin. On the food, well let's just say this, the grilled cheese on the room service menu is amazing! So, that's not saying much. The lines in the buffet were unending and poorly organized. They need more stations with the same food so that the lines are manageable. I should not have to wait 45 minutes for my runny fake scrambled eggs! They dole out the bacon 2 strips at a time and you have to wait in that line to get it. Or you can be like many passengers that just cut the line. In fact, I was getting my ice water and just about to put my glass on the ice dispenser when a woman jammed her cup in front of mine and took ice. The crowd on the ship reminded me of a frat house party and that is not limited to a certain group. 80% of the ship was at the party! And there was no limit to the amount of poorly dressed people showing all parts of their bodies with pride! The Diamond Steakhouse was nice, but the steaks are poorly seasoned and the lobster, while tasty is small. The Art at the Table dessert was very entertaining and beautiful. Service was also very good here. The Golden Olympian dining room had subpar cold food and the seating was awful. Asking for a table for 2 was futile as the next table for 2 was 6 inches away and so on. The internet on this ship is spotty and you have to reconnect often. Many websites are completely blocked, so be careful which plan you select. I did enjoy having the Carnival Hub on my phone so I always had deck plans and activity lists available to me. If you are used to sailing with more reserved passengers where you get a certain level of service (Celebrity), then this is not the ship for you! I had a run in with a store clerk where the sign on the display read 30% off, however the piece that I selected on that same display was only 10% off. I got nowhere with that person explaining you can't advertise 30% off and then pick and choose which items will be covered unless you list that it's 30% of on select items. The 2 comedians in the Punchliner Club were awesome and we'll be looking them up on YouTube, HBO etc. We saw them all three nights on the ship and each night was different material both family and adult shows. The Rock shows was embarrassingly bad with off key singing, old music and dancing that needs to be updated with more modern moves. As always, waiting for elevators is a challenge and when the door opens you have about 5 seconds to get in or out, because the doors close immediately. Not an exaggeration. Timing issues need to be resolved here so that there are no injuries. Once again, the empty elevator not stopping for you remains a mystery! Disembarkation was a breeze when you have all carry on luggage. We walked off the ship at 7am and went through customs and on to the car in about 15-20 minutes. There is a lot of walking so that would be most of the time. For a 3 night cruise, it's amazing how few people have carry on luggage, so crowds were not an issue. Read Less

Unfortunately not a lot great to say about Liberty. Getting on board was super easy but having never sailed with carnival nowhere in any of the countdown emails did it give us any info about our sail and sign cards being at our stateroom once on board our state room was not ready so we swam for awhile until it was. We had selected early dining while our dining staff was awesome and the food generally good the portions were very small. After fist night we decided to try the buffet (big mistake) the lines are super long and the fare is just ho hum. For lunch Guys burgers are awesome but everything has huge lines. Our state room was nice we were on deck 10 forward. Our steward was good. We went on one shore excursion in Nassau to Balmora Island. While not Carnivals fault the staff for balmora and the ferry to get us there was incredibly rude. On the ship the biggest complaint other than lines is not enough pools and the super foul almost raw sewage smell on the lido deck especially noticeable around the rum bar. When attempting to take in a movie on deck at night (in between carnival commercials that were never ending) the smell was almost overwhelming. Overall the liberty is an old ship in need of a port stay for upgrades, painting, etc. A good value for maybe a weekend getaway cruise but I would not recommend it for a vacation. Read Less

The service was awful the ship had an AWFUL smell. Only had lemonade, tea, & water to drink. The lemonade & tea taste like water. The food options was very slim, only one restaurant was open 24 hours which is unheard of on a cruise ship. Most crew members was very rude couldn’t speak English the drinks were watered down. The crew half way clean my cabin. The tables in the restaurants where half way cleaned. This was my first and last time cruising with Liberty. The floors was nasty went to lunch and they still had food from breakfast on the floor. The ice machines were out most of the cruise. It was just an awful experience. Being this was my husband first time cruising, awful first impression. The only thing we enjoyed was the club, the deck party, and getting off the ship to tour Bahamas. Other than that it was an awful experience. Not worth my money at all. Read Less

Carnival liberty employees damage my luggage and didnt replace anything. I had just purchased luggage for my trip and they advise me to get it fix and send them the bill. Where can i get someone to fix my luggage at i dont know. They could have just replaced the bag because they damaged my luggage. They also need better food selection. On sunday evening they closed the mexican resturant down early and wouldnt serve anyone else. It was not what i expected. I will stick with royal carribbean from now on since i havent had any problems with them. Sorry carnival cruise line i tried to get your customer service to fix the problem but they refused. We will have 50 cabins next year cruise and it want be booked with carnival crusie line. Read Less

I was expecting a repeat of the last Carnival cruise we went on which was AHHHHHMAZING. We were a group of 17, 9 adults and 8 kids varying in age from 2-14. Our cabin was great with a friendly steward. First time in an aft room, will never make that mistake again. You feel everything. Embarking and disembarking were smooth. However, as we arrived on the ship we were ready to be in vacation mode and wanted to grab a drink. There were plenty of drinks being served as well as TOO much upselling being done with no real explanation. What cup can get what refill for what price, it was all just too confusing. I found this to happen throughout the trip. Make your drink a double for $3 more, but not if you have the drink package, buy a bucket of beers instead of 1 get a pitcher at the comedy club...too much upselling with too many rules. The night of the deck party the bars on the lido were closed. The whole drink/bar experience left a bit to be desired. Let's talk food. The breakfast buffet lines were way too long. So we ordered room service 2 days but it only arrived 1 day. As far as room service goes, I distinctly remember the last cruise having a menu with everything included. Now there's a pay side to the menu. The 24 hour pizza is tasty. But from midnight -2ish when people really need a bite after drinking and having fun the line is long. I believe part of the reason is because for $5 you can have pizza delivered to the room. They are so busy keeping up with the deliveries, they cant keep the line short for people to grab and go. Guys burgers are a must! Our dinners in the silver room were good, but not great. The wait staff was nice and friendly. I found it again annoying that they had food options for a $20 charge on the menu. A money grab that Carnival should be embarrassed about. The menu varied each night but it was nothing to write home about. My husband decided on fried chicken from the menu our last night that was dry. Entertainment gets a mixed review. NoNo, the cruise director is fantastic. It's like this job was made for her. The DJ and steel drums by the lido were great. The singers outside the casino also super, the Hasbro game show was super fun. Both comedians on board killed it, could not laugh more if I wanted to. The triva games in the flowers bar area were good too. The show Flick earned 5 minutes of my time. Lyrical dancing to decent songs gave it a big cheese factor so I ended up not going to the America show. The guy playing at the piano bar was not my cup of tea. The deck party was fun, the kids loved it. The hairy chest contest is always big fun. The dinner entertainment is the same they were doing 6 years ago. Guest relations told me since my 12 and 14 year old were already registered they could go to evening activities when they were ready. So I went to comedy show and when they showed up they were not allowed to participate bc they were told they needed to be signed in. In Nassau we just went to a public beach. For $20 we rented chairs that were set up. Nothing special, but a couple hours at the beach was fine then back to the ship. A HUGE disappointment was the Princess Cay, their private island. The beach was nice. The BBQ had overcooked burgers, blah jerk chicken and it was super smokey. It was $2.50 for a can of soda but $3.95 later in the day. I guess they needed to money however they could as the island emptied out. And on a 4 day cruise (or any amount of days for that matter) when you buy the drink package, it does NOT include drinks there which is ridiculous since it is their island. Staff was ok. I'd go with a 70/30 split on friendly and helpful to just there to do a job. The friendliness was not enough to impact cruisers to feel special. Biggest take aways...lots of lines and lots of upselling which felt like a money grab with overall underwhelming experience will definitely impact me to book a different cruise line before booking carnival again. It was difficult to navigate the ship with limited direction, very few signs, some staff could assist others didn’t have a clue. Housekeeping staff was awesome. We paid for excursions, although the money spent for the benefits received was severely overpriced. No guidance was provided on what to do, where to go or how to get there. Our evening dinners were great.. there we a few oddities with the proteins on the menu on what you thought you were expecting versus what was actually served. Chalk it up to American cuisine and what others believe it to be. All in all I would rate the service staff outstanding. There needs to be a “1st time cruisers” class on how to get the most out of your cruise. We bought “faster to the fun” option. Only thing it got us, was on the boat quicker, no benefit to any excursion and didn’t help with debarking the ship as we were promoted through the line to get off the boat and out the door with no mention on when we we to get our bags, as they had been picked up earlier the night before, needless to say, if you don’t have them in hand before exiting customs, you’ll have to wait at least ‘3’ hours to get them, after everyone else has left the ship, gone through customs and are well on their way home. The note we recurved the night before told us what to do to get off the boat, but no additional mention, of what to do when you get to the terminal.. We don’t travel internationally very often, so we were oblivious as to what was expected. (It always helps to know how to Stop before pressing the gas). Will we cruise Carnival again? Maybe? Did we have a good time? Mostly. Was the drink package worth it? Absolutely Was the excursion worth the cost? Nope Were the meals good? Mostly Was “Faster to the Fun” worth the cost? Don’t feel so. Ok we just got off the Carnival Liberty on their four day Bahamas adventure from Port Canaveral. 1. We got a Captain's Suite 9199. Nice cabin, best views of any cabin anywhere. But, if you want a view from the balcony, you will have to stand up. Had a tough time getting our steward. Yet, he was very nice. The only perks you get is getting on the boat. You can come earlier than your posted time. Starting at 10:30am. (Don't call Carnival. Their staff just looks at a computer FAQ base that you can access. They could help with nothing else.) No other perks but two water bottles. Oh, and we had to complain because of the sewage smell coming from the front bathroom. I really thought these reviews I read before couldn't be true, but they are. 2. Teen Club O2 total loser. We had three teen boys and the activities were like, "Choose your own.....this or that." So lame hardly anyone showed up on Memorial Weekend. 15 was max for Manhunt. Plus, they were closed......alot. 3. Someone please update the Fun Times online so people can get a glimpse of what a daily schedule is? Plus, is there a white party or a red and blue party? What? Make up your minds and let people know before they board. Put some things in the APP before you get on board. In your online check-in. Give us info please. 4. The comedy shows were fantastic. 5. Flick, the cast was impressive but the writer/producer sucks. As a writer/director, my job is to tell a story. What the heck was this story about? The song selections were OK but your transitions were unintelligible. Director, why choose songs that your cast have a hard time reaching the top notes? Several top notes just not there. Lighting great. Sound OK. Circular fan use for James Bond: Genius. Second fan use for wings: poor. Video projection use excellent. The guy at beginning with hat? The solo dancer guy? What is he trying to learn or find? Choreography fine except when adding the protagonist to the mix. Everyone one in our party enjoyed it but had no idea what it was about. About movies: Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka then to the next song, just weird. Horrible transition. The medley of science fiction was well done. Short thematic bursts, knowable movies and their songs. There are hundreds of more iconic movie themes. Two Whitney Houston songs from the Guardian? Really? That was just to show off the cast member. You choose music that propels the story, tell the story through all mediums available, then make sure song and cast meld, and you've got a great show. This could have been a highlight not a head scratcher. 6. America Rocks: Maybe, for an international cruise, rock and roll might have been a better theme (Then you could have used Elton John or Queen). Again, songs outside the range of the cast. Cast did well in spite of the producer. 7. FOOD. Breakfast: stick to the omlette station. Real eggs vs powdered. Stick with room service for the morning. Except our second room service: muffins hard, bread hard, apple juice mix waaaay off, and got the order wrong. Lunch: Terrible selections and taste for the Lido Buffet. Mongolian Bar good. Chocolate buffet great. The chocolate cake on Lido buffet as good as any dessert anywhere. Fruit boring mix of melons, I'll take the Norwegian Hawaiian cruise any day for the fruit. Here is the review of other options: Guy's Burgers-best thing on boat, Ol Fashioned BBQ aft deck 10, hard to find and get to, not really ol fashioned we have ten places better in our city. Did not eat Mexican. Deli is good (not the fries, stick with Guy's fries). Pizza was packed after shows because everyone wanted something but did not want to pay for room service. Always a long line. Dinner: We had the 6 o'clock dinner at the Silver Olympian Restaurant. Had to ask our waitstaff for almost everything. I had soda package and I had to request every time. Wife had hot tea, had to wave down and ask each time. Our boys had lemonade, they came to fill that fairly early. Big pet peeve: Guys are busy, but they should stop when you are talking to them. I had two requests and after I got the first request out all I saw was their backs. Stop, look, listen until customer is finished talking. I don't care how fast you are trying to get the first crowd finished to get the second crowd in. Otherwise, great service. Great desserts. Steaks tough generally. Italian, keep out the peppers and onions which flavored whole meal. Rattatoie: don't get. If you expect it like the movie, nope big chunks of green pepper, onion and tomato. 8. Room Service. NOT FREE after 10pm. Beware. Their free selection is pitiful too. Disney Cruise has free 24 hours and it has pizza, burgers, chicken fingers, sandwiches, ice cream bars, much better than Carnival. Their events are designed to be late to make sure you would not make it back to your cabin before 10pm. 9. Stops: Nassau is always good. Princess Cay is fine, but the snorkels sold out before we got there. Really? A chance to make money and they run out? They burnt their food so we came back for Guy's burgers at lunch. 10. Money. Carnival takes the opportunity to separate you from your money while on the cruise. Everything costs extra. Better steaks and items extra $20 at dinner. Anything they carry costs extra. Free drawings, got to go through auction first. The cost for evening room service, ridiculous. Money to get on board early. We were either presented with opportunities or commercials to spend more money constantly. Not quite as bad as a time share promotion. Spa, went on Day of Nassau,. Since pretty much everything was closed until noon, I thought I would get a massage. The online pre-rates were $103 to $126. They had openings but were $176??? I read a review about sales during excursion days. NOT TRUE. I asked about the lower rates, they said they were pre-cruise only. Nope, I turned around. 11. Accessibility. Great on the ship. Only one ramp unbreachable was the ramp into the boat itself. My electric scooter got caught going in and out. Plus, they do look out for you if you are a wheelchair party. Thank you staff. 12. Activities: Youth club terrible, even though it got high ratings from others. Trivia was fun. Enjoyed Hasbro's Trivial Pursuit, otherwise not a ton to do, especially for families. They only showed two movies a day outside. Could have been continuous. Cookie was the best cruise director ever. He deserves the promotion he is getting. 13. Layout. The Liberty is confusing. Decks 3-4 cannot be gone through since the Gold dining room takes up the middle of the decks. The only way from front of ship to back of ship is to go to the far elevators on other end on ship then go down. Main pool deck too small for all on board to gather for party. Can we say, Get a Theme. Gaudy and no consistency describes the decor of the Liberty. Especially the Theater. MOST of these items are minor and may not dissuade you from Carnival. If you want the best food: Disney You want the best shows: Disney. Best youth Club: Royal Caribbean. Coolest excursions: Norwegian. Best Dinner Staff: Disney. Best Suite perks: Norwegian. Sorry, but Carnival is not on the list. Read Less

Sailed out of Port Canaveral on 5-17-2019 on a 3 day cruise, I’ve sailed a few other times with other companies, 5 cabins were with our party, it was my birthday and a present from my wife,my 3 children joined along with other family members. First afternoon out slide and pool got closed off. Saturday was spent all day in port, still not opened and they closed off basketball, volleyball and putt-putt. Went to complain and after asking to speak with supervisor they brought in 2 deck supervisor, after expressing my issue the pool deck supervisor smiled and said a kid puked in pool and they can’t discharge in port, although they had closed while out to sea the day before. All courts were closed due to rain shower while sutt was being released from the big whale tail which settled on floor of courts, which they were sweeping up around 11:30am no one returned for another 6 hours to mop the courts, finally opened courts, pool was not cleaned till 12:00-1:00 the last day of the cruise and didn’t open for several hours after that. Trip just sucked, and for the pool deck supervisor, to just stand there and smirk while I expressed my disappointment. Even after pointing out that she was smirking at me. Just really proves they have no compassion for there guests. I was very upset with them as it was very hard to entertain 3 kids for 3 days and for them to look at all the other ships at port with kids playing on water slides, basketball, volleyball and see the disappointment in there eyes just was heart breaking and again to have her keep smiling! If your going with children pick another cruise line, and if something goes wrong don’t expect anything from them. Read Less

First Cruise for us a learning experience you might say. The idea of a cruise is neat but this particular one was a complete disappointment. Embarkation was super crowded and a bit confusing. Forget lunch on boarding day. The buffet was totally out of control, crowded, full of inconsiderate people and extremely long lines ( 20 minutes in the deli line - that didn't even move ) then after moving to the buffet line another 20 minutes to finally get to the food line with people butting lines to be with family. Cabin was nice, relatively clean and well appointed with a cool view from our balcony. Our Stateroom Steward Ady was pleasant and make sure our room was clean and stocked well. The bed which was supposed to be a King size was in actuality 2 twins together with a " gully" down the middle. We though peace would be on our balcony at sea. Not so some times, neighboring rooms though that it would be a great place to blast Rap music and smoke weed. Dining in the Golden Room was wonderful. Food was tasty and our Wait Staff, Oliver, Olaf and Benjamin were outstanding. Entertainment was okay more suitable for younger folks. So bottom line this kind of cruising is not for us. We'd rather spend that money on a nice resort where there are no unruly , inconsiderate crowds. Read Less

I booked this cruise for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. It was my second cruise, both booked with Carnival cruise line. It was my boyfriend's first cruise ever. The day of embarkation, we were able to get on the ship before our check in time- which we appreciated. However, when we got on we decided to take a tour of the ship and were inside on level 4 when the power shut completely off. We were in pitch black darkness for about 5 minutes when the power came back on, then shut back off suddenly. The power eventually came back on. At that point, I was extremely terrified but my boyfriend convinced me not to let our money go to waste. Not one employee on the ship spoke about it, they acted like nothing happened. Aside from that, the ship is extremely extremely old and outdated. We booked about two weeks out and ended up getting an interior cabin on level 2. IF you decide to cruise on the Liberty, I HIGHLY suggest to NOT book a room on any level below 4 or 5. Aside from the fact that the ship rocked pretty heavily the entire duration of the cruise, our room rocked and vibrated the entire trip. We would get motion sickness on a higher floor and wanted to go lay down and rest in our room which only made us feel worse. The entire level 2 stinks like sewer. Our evening dining consisted of us sitting across from another couple at a booth which we were not expecting and did not like at all. Our sea day "open seating" brunch was not actually open seating. They sit you at a square or rectangular table with strangers and do not allow you to move seats even if you request to. Most of the employees did not speak English very well and weren't very helpful. I asked my housekeeper for a room service menu one of the nights and he said "it is in your room" and it wasn't. It wasn't a big deal at the time. But we later saw him in the hallway on the next night and asked him again and told him it wasn't in the room. It was like a battle trying to get the menu. My boyfriend spent quite a lot of money playing at the casino everyday and at one point the manager of the casino area offered us both free drinks. The waiter came around and I asked him for a menu for my order, he rushed me and said "every bar on the ship offers the same type of drinks, so what do you want?" rushing me. I tried to think, without a menu, what the name of the frozen drink was I had the night prior. He came back with a frozen virgin drink. This could have simply been avoided if the drink waiter would have brought me a drink menu. There was a massive amount of people this weekend and we were unable to even find a seat at the comedy shows, even after arriving 15 + minutes early to them. We missed out because we didn't want to stand during the comedy show. The embarkation process was HORRIBLE. They advised levels 1 and 2 to depart 1st. So, luggage in tow, we arrive to level 3 where we exit the ship to find that we can barely exit the elevator because the entire floor is crammed with people trying to get out. We didn't move for 15 minutes and had to squeeze our way thru. There was not ONE Carnival employee trying to guide people. We still tipped everyone that served us because that is the courteous thing to do. All in all, this trip was just okay because me and my boyfriend are very open minded and made the best of every single situation. However, I will NEVER cruise with Carnival again. And will tell this to anyone I know. I am so disappointed in the service that Carnival failed to provide. Read Less

1) The ship: This is an old ship, pretty run down. The decor though is charming, in a kinda old world Titanic/Tiffany style. The best thing was the lighting and the quaint corners. 2) The dining experience: The dining room (Silver or Golden), if you get a table close to the window, is very cozy and makes for a nice romantic dinner with "candle" light. The food in the restaurant is decent. Nothing to wow, but the taste and presentation was good. The service was very good. Servers were extremely nice and accommodating. My partner is omnivore and I am vegan. The dishes they prepared for me were excellent, both in taste and presentation. However, there was just one dish (no choices) for me, and it was lacking in protein, with the exception of the last day. The tofu steak was absolutely delicious. They had no appetizers and no desert for me. Just plain salad and a bowl of fruit every day. My partner had a variety to choose from. Everything was good for him but nothing special. On the menu they had a vegan/vegetarian dish every day listed, but they didn't have it. With the exception of the last day, I got a variety of the same plate every day: plain couscous with tomato sauce and one small plain vegetable. No protein. 3) Food during the day: Breakfast: The buffet was standard. For omnivores, eggs, bacon, baked beans, a variety of breads and pastries, cereals, etc. For vegans, just potatoes and baked beans or oatmeal and fruit. Non dairy milk had to be ordered and I stood there for a good while waiting for it. There was a breakfast burrito stand by the pool. No beans, so no vegan option. Only egg and meats for filling. They also had a small deli stand, but they also had no vegan options. Lunch: No options for vegans, besides a Mongolian wok. No protein option. Just noodles and vegetables. Omnivores could choose from chicken, beef, fish, or mussels. To my surprise they had no Indian or Vegan vegan dishes. All was very heavy meat oriented. No vegan pastries or baked anything. No tofu, no lentils or beans. No vegetable dishes without butter or meat. Just fruit for desert. They only had pizza available for times outside the buffet times (lunch until 3:30 am, dinner until 9:00 pm). The pizza was freshly made by one person, so the lines were very long. For vegan option they had a mushroom pizza without cheese that was actually very good. Regular pizza was ok. Thin crust and spare toppings, but fresh and not heavy. They also offered a gluten free crust. 3) Entertainment: This was the poorest category. No band, no music by the pool (besides a recording of an extremely annoying keyboard that one person pretend played with one finger), no games (besides one hairy chest contest which was blah). The pools were very small. The main pool allowed kids so it was usually full of them. Very small pool. The back pool was adults only, but it was also very small and there was zero entertainment. There was a comedy club with a comedian who pretty much repeated the same jokes. Humor based on obnoxiousness, which could be funny at times but, again, repeated every night so it would def be a one night kinda thing. The show was a rock performance with singers who were painful to listen to they were so off key. One really good dancer (wow). The rest not good and very much out of shape, huffing and puffing and sweating. 4) Ports: Nassau wasn't great. We walked to Cabbage beach, which was a nice 45 min walk through town. The beach was so so. Just very poor with local people trying to make a buck best they can. Everything looks run down and sad. Atlantis seems to have a monopoly and everything around it fell apart. Not worth to get off the ship. Freeport was much better. We took a taxi to a small beach called Paradise Cove, which was great. Low key. It is in an area away from tourism, in a zone called 8 mile where most locals live. They charge 4.50$ for beach access and a fee for locker, snorkeling equipment, kayak, chair, umbrella, etc. We brought our own snorkeling equipment. The beach is by Deadman's Reef. It is amazing for snorkeling since you can easily swim there from shore. It is seldom deeper than 4 ft until you get to the reef. There are no dangerous currents. We saw big sea turtles and a ton of fish along the corrals. They have a food stand where everything they offer is local and made from scratch. My partner had Concha and I had sweet potato fries. Delicious. It was 4 $ for local Bahamian ice cold beer. They offer excursions online there but don't buy that. It is much cheaper to get there on your own and if you bring your own equipment, its a fun afternoon for little money. We rather tip the locals than spending money on arranged shore excursions. Overall: Negative: The ship was run down and dirty. There was vomit on the stairs that stayed there for days. An invasion of love bugs that was only half way cleaned up. Rust and erosion everywhere. The food was below average, with little to no variety. No protein options, no variety, no deserts or appetizers for vegans. Little to no (or bad) entertainment. Sad, small pools look and smell like old city pools. Positive: Really nice room (balcony), excellent cabin steward, nice and friendly staff everywhere, really nice and hard working servers. The cocktails we tried (Mojito, Bloody Mary) were great. Strong and freshly made. Recommend this cruise? No, we will not repeat a Carnival Cruise. Read Less

Chose this cruise as it was the only one available during our time frame leaving from Port Canaveral. I will say that the departure location is very good and if you pre-register and arrive at your designated time - boarding was fantastic and fast. The ship is worn out and in need of new carpets, paint, beds ... pretty much everything. Beds were terrible! Windows were dirty. Entertainment was lacking - and ship was packed full. The dining room food was terrible in our opinion. The appetizers tasted and looked like they were out of a freezer box - awful. Food was cold and dining room service was severely lacking. We tried it twice and then decided we were better off eating at Guys Hamburgers/Taco Bar or buffet. Buffet food was decent. The carpet in our balcony room - level 7 - had a cord or something under it that was easy to trip on ... no idea what is was. The room servicing was good. - however they never cleaned up our balcony. There was a bottle cap on it when we arrived - and it was still there when we left. Debarkation was a nightmare - and nonsensical. People were sitting with their luggage in the elevator lobbies ... waiting and waiting. We finally asked to leave - and upon exit noted there was no waiting to physically leave the ship! Would not recommend unless you get this cruise for next to nothing (we paid premium). Did enjoy the ports. Read Less

We cruise about four times a year, mostly with Carnival... We were given "special" recognition for a "Milestone" with them, our 25 cruise on Carnival... We can make an objective comparison.. First, the "muster" which we all dislike, was the most unorganized and delayed I have experienced. In addition to that we could not hear (legibly) any of the instructions. No one was around showing people how to put on the vest and MANY were on cell phones, talking in groups and one brought a beer....Next, we were scheduled to sail at 3:30... Muster lasted till after 4.. No sailing. Back to the room, waiting for the shops and casino to open.. No sailing.... It was three hours before we got under way. No communication; no explanation.. It doesn't seem like much to Carnival, but that was three hours out of our vacation. Many other "minor" inconveniences occurred, but time does not permit mentioning them. The day we had plans for Nassau, we requested room service breakfast so we could get out and start. Both my wife and I need food to take our morning meds.. We requested 8/8:30 delivery. At 9:15 I called and was assured it was "on the way"... An hour later my wife called and they were very apologetic, but again another two hours out of our vacation.... Finally, and most importantly, the casino is totally not what we expect and have experienced. I will not go into the MANY disappointments with the "Hosts".... hey seemed to cater to the "tables" and not put much attention on the "slots"... We spend more money than most table players and are much less obnoxious than some of them... But they made sure they were "taken care of". All-in-all, I will avoid the Liberty in the future. And this is a shame as there were MANY people that went out of their way to make us comfortable... Carnival, "for what it's worth"...... Read Less

We took a family Cruise for my moms 78th Birthday a group of 20 family and friends and I was very disappointed! The rooms were dirty I found clothes in there from the last person. Nothing was ever wiped down I never seen anybody cleaning when walking around and if u did just looked like they were standing there. any other cruise i have been on I always seen some one cleaning!! Oh the public bathrooms One time there was pee all over the floor and it smelled so it had been there awhile!!! Never seen anyone cleaning them!! The partying was alittle out of hand!!! Fights everywhere!! Very loud!! The tweens were out of control and rude! It was so crowded you couldnt enjoy yourself!! Oh n lets not forget the overwhelming smell of sewer first thing when you open ur cabin door in the morning!! There were some staff members that really stood out but very little!! The entertainment didnt hold my attention but the preformers themselves were vary talented!! Blue igauna n guys burgers were good the buffet was good sometimes!! My family liked the food more then i did! No ice hardly ever!! Not enough variety in the buffet!!! Internet didnt work half the time!! Boat definitely some updating and more teaching of their staff!! My girlfriend wanted to go on a cruise and after reading some reviews we decided to try one with carnival. Since this was our first cruise we tried a short 3 day cruise and I’m so glad we only went for that long. Each bar only had one bartender. If there was a second person behind the bar they were cleaning or doing something else other than serving the long line of passengers waiting for a drink. It would sometimes take 15 minutes just to be acknowledged. The food was terrible. I foolishly had two hamburgers the first day and was sick later that night. Perhaps sea sickness played a roll in this, however this was the only day I got sick. Everything at the buffet tasted awful, I’ve cooked food with no seasoning that tasted better. It took an average of ten minutes to wait for an elevator. There was NO clear information on anything. We were told nothing would be open the morning we were debarking however there was one buffet and a few bars open. One night they had an “elegant night” where people dressed up for dinner. When our meal arrived it was barely lukewarm. The waiters were carrying plastic trays with the food in them out from the back as if all the food was pre prepared. This would explain why it was cold but not why we still had to wait 30 minutes to be served after ordering. There were three pools aboard but you could only fit about 10 people in each. The hot tubs had cold water being pumped into them starting around 9pm. What is the point of a hot tub if you can only get in during the day when the hot sun is out. This whole thing was a terrible experience. I feel like there was no attempt to achieve guest satisfaction this cruise was simply for profit. Of course they need to make a profit, it’s a business. I just have no idea how they continue to do so with such abysmal service. Neither me nor my girlfriend will ever cruise with carnival or recommend them to anyone. This experience most likely ruined any cruises for us in the future not just with carnival. Housekeeping was the one positive. Read Less

Traveled with another couple, the four of us had a absolute blast. Easy boarding from Port Canaveral, everything went smooth. From the moment we boarded we were greeted with the nicest staff eager to make our sailing vacation a memorable one. Our Room steward (Kadek) Room 9214 Lido Balcony Room, was the sweetest, hardest working gentleman I have ever encountered, he deserves a raise. Always remembering our names and details about our day, he even knew it was my birthday and left me a gift card to the onboard spa. Made the most adorable towels animals left daily in our very clean cabin. The other staff that stands out is Crimson, he was a waiter from the Lido deck bar. He was the kindness young man and talk about always moving! He continuously had a smile on his face and was always there to refresh our beverages! The Cruise Director (Cookie) was by far my favorite human being on this cruise. That young man definitely knows how to pull the fun outa people, even the most reluctant! As a matter of fact if your not participating he will seek you out and pull you into the action! Fun Fact: Cookie is related to Whitney Houston Read Less

This 4 night cruise on the Liberty offered one day at sea & one day in Nassau & one in Freeport. I found the ship to be a little outdated as it is in dire need of a refurbishing...but, nevertheless, a nice ship...most important of all it was kept very clean. The evening meals in the Golden Dining Room(all 4 nights) were prepared well & served hot & delicious. My favorite meal was beef & polenta with brown gravy. On the SezAnnie food score of 1-5, I give it 4.5; reviewing food is based on personal taste and subjective. The activities on the ship are plentiful & were enhanced by the ships Activities Director a young man named Cookie with a contagious smile who stole my heart. He was a fun guy to hang with. The two musical shows in the theater & the entertainers were as good if not better than some shows on Broadway. Great talent in every performance. If you are looking for a fun time & have the energy to fit the activities of a 7 night cruise into 4 nights....then you won't be disappointed on the Liberty. Go for it! SezAnnie Read Less

We picked this cruise because of the dates it was available. It was not picked for the itinerary because we have been to the Bahamas so many times and there is nothing to do there, compared to the other islands. The cruise itself was okay, it is always good to be on the water. The weather was great. Food was the same old tired food as on every cruise (what is a flat iron steak exactly? It is a very cheap cut of tough meat). We would have starved if it had not been for Guy's burgers and the deli. The pizza was awful. Entertainment was the same as every other cruise, same jokes, same games. Maybe it is time to change things up a bit. Like every other cruise, the "attitude" was everywhere. People with no manners walking all over you and acting like they were the only person in board. Apparently common courtesy and decency doesn't exist anymore. If you can't at least act like a nice person, stay at home. Read Less

I am choosing to writing to a review to help someone else who is researching this ship the same way that I did. I’m a mother of 4 and my children have only ever sailed with Disney Cruise Lines before.I have to admit I was a little worried to try Carnival based on some reviews I read. We wanted to experience Disney Parks during our spring break but couldn’t tag the Disney Cruise line into our budget. Carnival Offered a great price for this 4 day Easter Cruise that we could afford. We used Mears transportation from a Disney’s Animal kingdom lodge to Port Canaveral. For $35 a person. We used Carnivals transportation back to MCO airport. You book that through the excisions. It was the same price I believe Both were great On board the Liberty we had 2 connecting balcony rooms on Deck 8 aft. Rooms 8378 and 8380. We had 2 adults and 4 children diving us into 3 in each cabin. The price per cabin was $1500. Excellent deal.the rooms were ready right at 1:30pm like stated upon checking in Prior to booking I started researching the Liberty and found some negative reviews here on Cruise Critic which had me very worried. I am also a Travel Agent so I consider myself a Travel Expert with a lot of knowledge when it comes to what to expect when it comes to Cruising. If you are familiar with Disney Cruise lines you know that they are top notch. High quality. I’m here today to let families know that the Liberty is a excellent ship and I give it 5 stars because even though it is an older ship the staff has done a great job at taking care of it. I constantly saw crew members cleaning, scrubbing grout, being attentive to guests as well as also being very friendly. The service was perfect! The crew members onboard this ship work very hard. The kids club with Dr. Suess was great. The dining room staff was great. The gym was great and very clean. We work out everyday and this was important to me. So I was very happy with the gym. The spa services as well. The evening entertainment was soooo good. The shows were very well done. (I’ve seen some cheesy ones on Carnival before) Lots of family entertainment as well as separate adult entertainment. The dive in movies were perfect choices and they give you a blanket and popcorn. Cookie the cruise director is the best cruise director that I have ever met. Seriously that guy is going to go far in life. He stated he has only been a director for a year. Find the ship that he is on and you aren’t promised a good time. Overall my entire family was very happy with the Carnival Liberty. Guys burgers are the best here as well as The Wok on the lido deck or you can grab a sub sandwich from the deli, pizza, seafood, soooo many choices of food on the Lido deck. We don’t drink alcohol so that is the only area that I lack an opinion on. However the bar service seemed to be very productive from what I could tell. We purchased the soda package and my family did get their sodas in a timely manner. We stayed away from the Casino so honestly we didn’t experience much of any secondhand smoke. Also one of my concerns. No need to worry We sailed to The Bahamas and at Nassau we did the Atlantis Aquaadventure. This was the very best time of the entire week! Highly recommend. Worth every penny For Freeport we did the Beach day at Lucaya for $44. Also excellent. We didn’t purchase the lunch package here. You don’t need it unless you drink alcohol. You are back at the shop early enough to eat lunch when you return. We order snacks and sodas from the bar area here and paid less that $10 for the snacks and the sodas were $4. Also bottled water here is $4 They give you a chair and a umbrella as part of your package. Beautiful beach with volleyball, basketball and straw market shopping. Very safe. Also the day of embarking was so easy and hassle free. The quickest check in I’ve ever experienced. I read other reviews that stated the ship smelled. We did not have that experience. At least not on deck 8 anyway. Our bathrooms in our cabins did not smell. One evening my shower drain clogged and I called maintenance. They were there within 10 minutes to fix it in a jiffy and all was good. I hope this helps a mom out there on a budget who is wondering if a Carnival Ship would be good for her family! I encourage you that it is. We’ve done 9 cruises and mostly all Disney as a family and my children loved this ship! We would sail The Liberty again! Thank you to every crew member onboard. They really do work hard. Also helpful hint I booked this cruise on Black Friday with a special price and gave it as a Christmas gift to my kids knowing we would have school spring break so this cruise served many great purposes for us and like I said was so very affordable Read Less

This was my first cruise and wanted to experience everything with my grandson who is 10 and my daughter who is in her late 30's. This boat had one of the best cruise directors, Cookie and the staff members were exceptional! However, this cruise was overbooked with children and teenagers and there weren't enough events to keep them busy! Also, very long lines for food, no matter what type of the day it was. If you wanted to relax, this is NOT the ship to cruise on, especially during Spring Break. The majority of parents were angry due to the lack of activities for the "tweens" to do and we basically were babysitting. Also, we had a very bad experience at the hot tub due to the fact that there was no one to supervise any of the tweens who took over both hot tubs. There were several children in the hot tub who would not get out and were very loud and aggressive towards anyone, no matter what age they were and no one did anything about it despite the numerous complaints that were made! This cruise ship has a great cruise director but the team needs to get it together for ships during Spring Break because it clearly was a problem - we couldn't even enjoy the evening movies due to the fact that the kids were in the hot tub splashing and not respecting others around them! This was my first time on a cruise and did not have any expectations to speak of. I had heard many pieces of advice from friends, but decided to go with the flow. The overall experience was terrific - everyone (with the exception of one worker ) was gracious and friendly. The dining room staff was very nice as were the servers in the buffet. The ship was very clean and the house keeping staff were wonderful. The food choices were good although the last day I did notice substitution's in my meal and the wait staff offered to exchange it but it was tasty the way it was made so I said no. Our suite served us with plenty of room and the beds as well as the sofa were comfortable. The balcony was larger than expected although we did not spend much time there it was a nice addition. We enjoyed shopping on Nassau, I did not care for the straw market , I felt they were pushy and it was overwhelming. I did enjoy food and browsing the shops the locals were very nice and helpful in suggesting cafes. I would definitely take another cruise and was very pleased with Carnival. Read Less

We picked this cruise because DW, niece and nephew had never been on a cruise and we wanted to make sure everyone would be ok locked in on the water. Embarkation went very smooth in spite of us being late (or maybe because of it, the world may never know) we had 11:30-12:00 check in but didn't arrive till about 1:00 and walked right on. Well after going through security and all of course. Guy's burgers were real good and the kids liked the hotdogs from the deli. Lido buffet seemed to be lacking in my opinion. Oh the food was good just seemed to be less verity than what I remember from my last Carnival Fantasy cruise. This could be from 1) my failing memory, 2) there really is less verity or 3) a combination of the two. We had anytime dining in the Golden Olympian and it was great. No lines, no waiting either night. Sorry if I offended anyone wearing my jeans on elegant night but we had decided while we were packing that we would eat on Lido that night but DW decided otherwise on the night of. Good thing it was cool the morning we left home or I wouldn't have had any long pants. DW did keep saying "I just don't understand the allure and all the hype of cruising" but as we were sitting discussing what we were having for dinner last night she said "too bad we can't just go to lido and pick up something, I miss that ship" so I think she is hooked. I see more cruises in our future! We only saw the America Rocks show which was pretty good, but if you go to the Venetian Palace to see a show, try to avoid the back seats on deck 3. The overhang from deck 4 will block part of your view and you may not be able to see the entire performance. Not sure about deck 4. The kids, 5 and 13, loved the kids clubs and didn't want to leave. Even the very shy 13 year old made friends. Now the 5 yo can make friends with a signpost so we knew that wasn't going to be a problem. Most people say not to take a 3 day weekend cruise, it's just a party cruise with a bunch of rowdy drunks, but I didn't see a lot of that, just pax having a good time and mostly respectful and polite to each other. Overall great cruise I just don't think I will do another short one. Just to much work (packing, driving, unpacking, etc) for the amount of relaxation time. Read Less

We had excellent service from Alam’s dining room service team and Adi’s attention to keeping our room neat and complete with fresh towels and always cute towel animals. Hong’s personality always kept us laughing as we sampled his creative after dinner shots. How do the serving staff get up on the tables and dance? We were completely entertained. The shore excursions were well suited for a 4 day cruise. Our day at Princess Cays was just as we remembered. The beach volleyball is always my husbands favorite part of the trip. Unfortunately, one of our group was pushed into a sea urchin by a wave while he was snorkeling. The lifeguard was very helpful getting him help quickly. The lines for the shuttles back to the boat always move too slow and get extremely hot and uncomfortable due to making sure they’re “loaded to capacity.” The unlimited bubble cards weren’t accepted at the bars on the island even though the bar was staffed by ship employees? Minimal areas for improvement. Thank you for thinking of everything to make our short cruise enjoyable. Read Less

This was my and my husband’s 2nd cruise, but first for our boys (9 & 11). Getting on board was easy and quick. We were in room 1295. It was clean, so no problems there. Occasionally the shower drain would get backed up and overflow into the bathroom, but thankfully there’s a drain next to the toilet, so it wasn’t too bad. Our bags arrived quickly and we grabbed some food. The buffet usually had a nice variety and everything seemed fresh. Pizza was made to order and tasty. My boys loved the burgers at Guy’s. I had a half sandwich at the sandwich shop once, but the line was usually long, so after that I opted for other things. BBQ pork and Mac n cheese were good. I didn’t care as much for the Mexican spot. I got chicken tacos and the chicken seemed dry. I’m not a big Mexican food fan though. We ate in the dining room twice, but service was a bit slow. Food was tasty. Only one thing I had issue with was the crab cake. It came with a few little dots of sauce alongside it that seemed as though they had been sitting out for a while. I’d give the dining room maybe 3.75 stars. The first day was overwhelming - so many people and kids and with the party on the Lido deck the noise was overwhelming. I never saw any bad behavior, but my boys wanted to enjoy sitting in the hot tubs and couldn’t bc kids were splashing around like they were swimming pools. They also didn’t like that the pools were salt water. We didn’t do much in the way of entertainment, but we did attend a few all ages comedy shows which were funny despite being all ages. My boys checked out the kids club, but weren’t that impressed, so they didn’t go back. I didn’t think there was anything bad about it, they just hate that kind of thing. No biggie - we let them do their own thing as long as we knew where they’d be, but most of the time they stayed with us. The ship itself is starting to show its age a little, but they’re doing a great job of maintaining it and keeping it clean. Common areas are nicely decorated and not nearly as dated as the Sensation which my husband and I sailed on a few years back. Service was great everywhere we went. Our favorite waiter was Danny from Peru. He was incredibly patient with my kids ordering and so friendly to us all. Our room steward, Harry, from Guyana, was fantastic. Always taking the time to stop and chat with us about our day and see if we needed anything extra. He also gave us some tips on things to check out at our ports. We’d definitely sail with Carnival again as a family. Read Less
