I joined Norweigan cruise 7 night Hawaii Islands. I joined single and I paid good amount of money. But I don't think it worths the money I paid. The good things first Hawaii is great. Bad things, everything except food is payable. I have to pay 9.98 if I want to watch a movie in the tv in my room. I don't even listen the music. There isn't much thing to do in the ship. The entertainment is very poor. Before I joined two cruises with Princess and they were much more better than Norweigan. The food was better, the entertainment were far more better. Also Princess gives you beach tote, so if you foreget to bring your beach tote you can use it. But Norweigan didn't give anything. I could watch tv free in Princess but I have to pay in Norweigan. Princess cruises had big screen top of the cruise, so you could watch film or any sports activity there, Norweigan doesn't have screen on the top of the ship. The food area in Princess were bigger than Norweigan. Here is a little bit narrow, because of that there is a chaos in breakfast lunch and dinner time in self service area. The one other small thing, in Princess the staff left chocolate on your bed after clean the room. There isn't anything like in Norweigan cruise Read Less

This is our third cruise in three consecutive years with NCL The first two cruises was awesome with not one thing to complain about. A Baltic cruise and second the Alaskan Cruise My dissatisfaction with this cruise started with the room was not very clean. A room that is supposed to be cleaned twice a day is disappointing. There was dust several places. The bathroom floor has dirt on the side molding. The food is awful. My first day I sat in the restaurant for over 1/2 an hour waiting for my main course. I finally got up and left. At breakfast I got my food and nowhere to sit, I counted 10 tables that folks finished eating and the dishes were still waiting to be picked up. A supervisor finally came over and looked at the schedule from his pocket. He went over to the girl at the fruit table and asked key to clear the tables. This took several minutes as she worked very slow. My breakfast was so cold I only eat half of it. I spent over $8K for this trip and is very disappointed with the services. I hope NCL look into this, several people I spoke with commented on the same things. They all said the same thing about the service. I went on a tour this morning, came back for lunch and my room was never cleaned. On the afternoon tour all the folks said there room was not cleaned either. I have several specialty dining. I hope the service is much better. I looked forward so much to have s wonderful time with my wife and so far it’s very disappointing. Read Less

My 1st impression was the balcony cabin was dirty. Just surfaced cleaned. The hair dryer had months of hair embedded in it. The rug in the closet and under the bed hasn't seen a vacuum in months. There was so much debris on the floor. I realize management pushes thru the next group of people and only surface cleans but it's sad that we paid over $5000.00 for the room and it was gross. The was long hair wrapped around a deck chair all week also. I ask, how would you feel or is that not valid enough for you to complain. The shower flooded the floor and I called the desk. They said they would send someone, I went to dinner thinking it was all set. Nope, I flooded it again the next morning. They sent someone at 5pm Sunday night when I was trying to get ready for the evening. I asked if they could come back Monday at a more reasonable time, Nope, they came back again at 5pm! On a different day, I went to my room about 2 or 3pm to find the door wide open with no-one in there. I waited for 3 minutes and told the steward I didnt appreciate my door being open. He said, I only went to get ice. I passed by the ice cooler and there was no-one in the hall!!! We didn't get to dock at one port and they gave us $50.00 room credit to all occupied rooms. Really, I paid $5000 for 4 islands, wouldn't you think to divide 4 into 5 doesn't make $50.00. I was at the buffet one morning near the bar which had a table of breads, bagels etc. I noticed a gentleman trip over the long tablecloth. I was fixing it and asked the bartender to pull it on his end, Kyle, said, I'll get the staff to fix it !!!!! R E A L L Y....you cant just pull it and have no one trip! I almost wish someone did where I saw it again and he would be reported. Let me ask, if we did that in our jobs, "that's not my job" I know I would not be working. The dining room staff was great, the meal choice was the same 5 every night and 5 other choices. I was a little surprised on that. Debarkation was a breeze but it was a US Island, maybe that was the reason customs wasn't a problem. so I rate this cruise as the worst I've ever been on Read Less

We just arrived home from seven day cruise in Hawaii aboard the Pride of America. We were so excited to board as this was to be the trip of a lifetime. Boarding the ship was very easy and within a couple of hours of boarding our stateroom was ready. We had a room with balcony on the 10th floor. Oddly our balcony had walls on each side hindering the view. The room is small but room enough for two. Storage is limited. Drawers difficult to open and shelves dusty. Definitely need some upgrading of the rooms. We had booked adjoining rooms as we were travelling with friends. Thinking our balconies would be adjoining as well but were disappointed to find they were not. Food was mediocre. Both complimentary dining rooms serve the same menu. Aloha cafe is dingy and very crowded. Entertainment was good. We only seen our room Stewart once and that was because I had to contact him with an issue. Often there were odours throughout the ship that I don’t even want to know what it might be. Most ports the ship is docked at cargo units. Not much of a view to enjoy. They seem to like to do repairs and maintenance on the ship when docked in port. Doesn’t make for quiet relaxation on balcony. Always noisy. We received a notice one day they would be painting balconies and workers would be entering through staterooms. They announced on a Tuesday they were skipping our next port call in a Kona due to minor mechanical issue. Not to worry though each stateroom got a $50 credit. Wow! Please do not book this cruise. It just is not worth it. Read Less

Our overall rating of this cruise is poor for multiple reasons, the number one being the lack of compassion and assistance from the Guest Services staff when we learned of a family member back home being in critical condition. When our family tried to contact the ship to speak with us, NCL informed our family we were not on the ship. Knowing this was incorrect, our family eventually contacted the United States Coast Guard who assisting in locating us onboard the ship. We followed up with Guest Relations who could not provide us an answer as to why we couldn't be located and responded "does your family know your names?" When we tried to get assistance from Guest Services to book emergent flights home and inquired about internet access since we didn't have cell service, they tried to sell us an internet package, but subsequently stated we had to wait for the internet services crew to arrive to work because their shift had not started yet (despite being on a boat). We asked for a manager who also tried to sell us an internet package. Since the staff was no help, we continued to try to use our phones until we neared the island of Kauai and got service. We booked immediate flights and asked for assistance off the ship. Again, no assistance was provided in helping us off the ship or assisting with transportation to the airport. In addition to the obviously pressing issues above, my wife's luggage was damaged by staff when initially boarding the ship. The staff attempted to fix the wheel, but while leaving the ship, the repair fell apart. We additionally had paid extra for a speciality dining experience. We had terrible service not even receiving the pre-dinner appetizers. Our water glasses were constantly empty. We inquired about our food and sides on multiple attempts but eventually left the restaurant due to such terrible service. Post-cruise, we completed our post-cruise feedback survey and submitted multiple emails to guest relations and spent numerous hours on-hold. It took 36 days to receive a call from someone from guest relations who was seemingly apologetic. She informed us to get a quote for luggage repair and stated she would need two additional weeks to complete our claim. Three weeks later, we had not heard back from her so we continuously attempted to call until we finally reached her. She informed us NCL would only give us a small on-board credit to be used on another cruise, despite us saying we would never board another NCL cruise again. Inquiring for resolution, I subsequently called NCL's guest services and corporate numbers hundreds of times (literally), often being treated by very rude staff members or waiting on hold for extended periods of time. I left several messages for managers and supervisors who never returned my calls. We are now four months post-cruise without resolution to any of our issues. I continue to send emails and call nearly daily asking for assistance. Sometimes I are told by the operators answering the phone, "we don't have managers or supervisors," and other times we are able to leave voicemails without ever receiving a callback. If you are looking for a cruise and have a 100% guarantee that nothing will go wrong (e.g., family emergency, weather disasters, illness), then NCL may be a consideration. However, if you cannot guarantee this, I strongly encourage you to choose any other cruise line. For your safety, I strongly encourage you to consider any other company. If you pick up the phone and inquire about a new cruise, you will quickly be talking to a representative who is happy to take a deposit for your upcoming vacation. If you ask to be transferred to customer service, guest relations, a manager, or a supervisor, you will quickly learn that NCL profits are far more important than you and four months later, you still won't have any resolution. Of all the cruises we've sailed (26 total) this was the first and last on NCL. Have never encountered more rude employees with bad attitudes from the Shore Excursion Desk to the buffet to the Liberty dining room. Service is practically non-existent compared to Princess Cruises and the food......that was a whole other story. The food was so awful except in the Cadillac Diner, that we ended up eating most meals at restaurants in port. The shore excursions were so over-priced it was laughable and 2 that we signed up for were cancelled for lack of interest. My better guess was for the pricing. Our NCL initial contact person "assured" us that the cabin we chose would be comparable to the mini-suite we usually book on Princess. Good Lord---my walk-in closet at home is larger than the cabin we got. My knees are still black & blue from hitting the wall every time I got out of bed. Wouldn't recommend this line to my worst enemy. Read Less

Lets start with the best part of this cruise, the bar staff. They really went out of their way to make sure that you had a good time on the ship. The Waikiki staff gave my wife and I numerous tips on where to go and things to see when we didn't have a shore excursion. We were told by other staff that we should not talk to them and only talk to the guest services or shore excursions staff to figure out what we should do while in port. So it basically felt like a money grab scheme. "Don't get the free advice, talk to us and pay for it" Food was horrible on the boat. We visited Skyline, East meets West, Liberty, Cadillac, and the buffet. Cadillac messed up so bad they comped us a meal at East meets West teppanyaki grill. The staff there messed up our order also. I had to flag down a waiter since once we were seated they ignored us. Never came back with our appetizers or non alcoholic drinks. Be sure if you order an alcoholic drink, they will try to get you as many as they can. The cleaning crew left a cup of coffee in our room for the entire trip. I am not talking about something that was left in the fridge or out of site place. It was on the table next to the bed. We even left it on the bed one day and it was just moved to another place. If anyone is in 8614, can you check on the coffee? I am sure something has started to grow and might be having a better trip than my wife and I did. Read Less

I would absolutely recommend a trip to Hawaii just NOT on NCL! Everything was great until they took my money. After that I was ignored. No return phone calls or emails from my Senior Cruise Specialist! The ship itself is older, it had a library, a room for table games and a room for funerals, but no clubs for dancing (only one that played older music). The shows were laughable. The staff was unimpressive. They did not seem to care about making guests happy at all. Dinner in the main dining room took 3 hours one of the nights and at least 2 each other night.. They were incredibly slow and the food was not that great. Te coffee was served cold. The shore excursions were expensive, we rented cars instead and did our own thing. They had a party on one of the nights called the famous White Hot Party. The staff dressed in white and wore wings. They had it decorated like a dance club with neon lights and then they played 80's music. It was practically empty. So boring. I have been on many cruises and have never been so disappointed in a cruise. Hawaii is wonderful and I would recommend it on another cruise line. Read Less

We chose this NCL cruise because it appeared to be a good way to visit 4 Hawaii Islands without unpacking and changing hotels. My wife and I have cruised on 3 other cruises in the past, but it has been over 10 years since our last cruise. Our cruise was from 2/9/2019 thru 02/16/2019. The weather in Hawaii was extremely winding and this caused many issues. First we were not able to dock in Maui at the beginning of the week which diverted us to Kauai, this caused all of our excursions to be change for these two ports which were both over night stops. We did management to stop at Hilo and Kona, but the wind caused our helicopter ride in Kona to be canceled, we were not informed of this until minutes before we were to head out it was 10:30am so we were too late to schedule any other excursions. We were also told that Kona only had small beaches so we decided not to plan on going to the beach only to find that they had a nice beach right where we were tendering in. The cruise never docked in Maui, which was questionable the second day, as we spent another day sailing around Maui, why if the weather was so bad did we not go back to Honolulu? NCL made no special offers, events, happy hours or any other concessions to their guests during the two days that we were stuck on the boat sailing around! We are now owed $792.00 in a refund for all of the canceled excursions that we had scheduled, it would be more but we used some of it to do things like a couples massage at a cost of $398.00, bought two cups of coffe with baileys for $16.00 each, and wasted $110.00 on a so called specialty restaurant that was no different than the included restaurant. The food on this cruise was the worst I have ever had on a cruise ship, the buffet was always COLD and consistently poor for every meal, we avoided eating there. If you go on this cruise eat your breakfast at the Cadillac Dinner, its cooked when ordered and it is actually served hot. We ate at to so called specialty restuarents, East Meets West worst than Panda Buffet and La Cucina which had the same food quality as the Liberty Dinning room so do not waste your money. Here is the buyer beware part, if you go on this cruise book your excursions through NCL, because if you do not you will find yourself out the cost of the excursions when the ports of call get changed. Also keep in mind that the weather can be bad and you could find yourself as we did stuck on a boat at sea, where as if you did not cruise you could at least be on the islands during things. It should be noted that our second day at sea the weather was sunny and warm but we still were not able to dock. Due to all the changes and cancelations we were in Hawaii for a week and never got to a volcano, never snorkeled nor swan in the ocean, never went to a Luau. My advice is do not risk a cruise of the Hawaii islands, asure yourself of a good Hawaii vacation by staying on the islands not on a boat looking at the island because you cannot dock due to weather. Don't bother going on this cruise liner...…...staff were very good on the whole but nothing else was!!!!! FOOD - no diabetic or low calorie choices, even the packet breakfast cereal was high sugar. Bread was stale, fruit and vegetables not ripe. We arrived at 6pm for dinner and they had just opened the casual dining café....the food was cold!!!! even the French fries were cold?????!!! PAID FOR DRINKS PACKAGE - but each drink was taxed so even if you chose a drink below the stated $15.00 limit once they added tax and service charges you ended up with a charge on your account. SMOKING AREA- only one for the whole ship....and it is a big ship! The area allocated was small, hard to get to for older passengers or those with disabilities or those not good climbing two lots of stairs with buffeting winds as it was aft and on deck 13, totally unprotected from the elements!!! CABIN- LAYOUT & SIZE OK. Rooms were not ready till approx 4.30pm. Our balcony door could not be locked and on one night because of rough seas I had to get up 6 times/ grab the curtain pull it back inside the cabin and shut the door. I was travelling with my elderly mother who attempted to do this when it first happened and she fell and could have SUSTAINED A SERIOUS INJURY AT 87 YEARS OF AGE! When I rang guest services there was no answer although I tried several times to report the faulty door. The next morning I went to guest services and complained....late that afternoon a workman came to replace the locks and stated he had been VERY BUSY AS MANY DOORS HAD TO BE FIXED!!! Towels and sheets were not changed throughout the 7 days. Toilet broke down on the second day and was not fixed till late that afternoon approx 4pm so had to access the public toilets all day!!!! Hand basin plug not functioning and could not drain the water out of handbasin. Again was not fixed till late that afternoon. LIBRARY - unable to get library books out on weekends and only after 5pm weekdays....what? most people want to sit on deck , relax, lap up what little sunshine we got and read a book IN THE DAY TIME??????? And as we were stuck at sea it would have been nice to get a book and read for the day as there was nothing else to do!!! ENTERTAINMENT - very poor, stuck at sea for two full days, unable to dock anywhere and no extra entertainment organised to help pass the time. The shows we did see were amaturish and short (one only just over half an hour). No movie theater or big screen. PORT & SHORE EXCURSIONS - We were suppose to dock in six ports and got to call into two apart from Honalulu were we joined the cruise........ Read Less

This is an old, tired and run down ship that should be retired. The food in the Aloha Cafe was on par with the Golden Corral, tired looking and lukewarm. The bus staff were atrocious. They walked around like zombies, not noticing the dirty plates at the end of the table. We did try the main dining room for lunch and that was a mistake. The nachos and philly cheese steak we order came covered in melted cheese whiz. The food looked like it was under a food lamp for hours. A fast food meal is better than this meal. We must give cudo’s to the staff at Cagney, where we enjoyed a great meal and great service. The manager was very attentive. This meal was deferently the highlight of the cruise. The bathroom in our cabin was small where taking a proper shower was next to impossible. The only standout here was our cabin steward. We did not have time to check out the entertainment as it was poorly planned with the restaurant operations. For example, the Aloha Cafe opens at 6:00 pm and the first show was at 6:30 pm. This meant that we would have to go to later shows Over the earlier shoes. Basically, this cruise is not worth the money we paid for it. The premium we paid for was for an all American crew. There were only a select few of the crew who stood out and truly represented the Pride of America. You’re better flying to each island and booki a hotel on each if. NCL’s POA IS AN EPIC FAIL. With no prior notice, NCL changed the itinerary for the trip changing the dates of 4 of our 6 ports and then ended up only going to 4 of the 6 ports; skipping both days in Maui. As frustrating as that is I'm a pretty hard person to frustrate and can handle change well. What made this cruise my worst ever was the ship itself. This ship was build in 2005 which is extremely misleading. It was originally started in the US and finished several years later in Germany but I think the company that was building it in the US was using plans from 1980 that they downloaded on the internet for free. The ship has no stabilizers. Two of our sale days were so bad the front of the ship would break out of the water and coming crashing back down so loud you thought the boat would break in half. In my cabin, I would almost come off the mattress as the ship would start to oscillate back down and I would get pressed down hard into the mattress as it would go back up; impossible to sleep. The rocking front to back and side to side in this ship is by far the worst I have ever experienced. I have been cruising for 21 years on over 25 ships and have only had this type of experience once back in 2000 on a 29,000 ton Holland American ship that was getting decommissioned shortly after my cruise. One of the days the ship decided we were going to stay at sea rather than go into port they said it was too windy and a rough sea. That day around 10 am or so one of the passengers needed their dialysis treatment so NCL tendered him into the port anyway. I went out to the deck and watch to see how that went. There was no wind and the waves were small (trust me I know small vs big waves). The tender went to shore and back with hardly any bobbing motions. This was a disgusting money grab by NCL to keep us all on board to enjoy another day of poor service. DO NOT SAIL THIS CRUISE until NCL replaces this ship or adds stabilizers to it. Cabin Our cabin was a 1990 styling; however, it was clean and in good shape. We did have one of the two closet doors falling off its hinges. We requested it to be repaired but by the end of the cruise, they had still not dealt with the broken door. Dining I tried the free dining at the Liberty restaurant the first two nights and felt forced to pay the additional money for the specialty dining for the rest of the cruise. Had several great meals at Cagneys and a really good one at Moderno's. I forget the Italian restaurants name, however, I had a really really overcooked steak there one night. It was so bad they didn't charge me for the meal without me even asking for them to take it off the bill. The mater d just walked past the table and saw the steak, so she stopped and asked about the meal and I commented on the steak. I told her I would deal with it but at the end of the meal when the bill came she had removed it without even being asked. It was bad to have my meal ruined but she dealt with it very professionally. Embarkation The embarkation was smooth. We left about two hours late; it would have been nice to be given an explanation but it was all good. Entertainment I love the gold rush saloon. I enjoyed the kareoke there most nights. That was the only bar with draft beer. Onboard Experience The onboard experience was not what you are used to on most NCL ships. Their fleet as a whole has nice ships with lots of things to do on them. Remember this ship was built with plans from the 80s and has nothing to do but shop. The layout of the top of the ship has no entertainment activities (pools and bars - that is it) and the rest of the ship only has bars or shops. If you ever cruised in the 90's you will know exactly what I'm talking about. This ship is truly an embarrassment to the NCL name. Public Rooms I enjoyed the theme of this ship. Everything is based on US history. The public areas are all well maintained and clean like you would expect by NCL. The problem is just the design of the ship; it can be clean and well maintained and still fall very short of your NCL expectations - that's what this ship is. Service I have cruised many many times and have found NCL, Holland America, Princess and Royal Carribean to all meet my need for service. That said this is an all American crew so, as you could guess, the service level isn't what you would expect. I still want to give credit to NCL for the best they could do with what they are working with. Value for the Money This is an expensive cruise because of the American crew. So the value for the money is just difficult to say. If you compare to any other cruise in the world you would say its expensive but you have to look at the huge cost of the American crew. For me, it was particularly bad because NCL skipped Maui altogether. Horrible value for my particular sailing. I think you know how horrible the experience this was. I feel the weather was a major issue however the second day at sea (the second day when we should have been in Maui) they could have easily tendered us to shore starting a little later in the day (say 10:00 am) and didn't bother. That was very bad treatment to us by NCL. Read Less

This has been the worst trip I’ve ever been on. I understand that the weather is too bad to go to Maui. But instead of taking us to Honolulu or some where, they’ve trapped us on this ship at sea for 2 whole days. If they would of just taken us to Honolulu, I could of gotten off the ship and be done. Never book in February and go with a different cruise line who has alternative ports instead of trapping you on the ship. I missed our whale watching. The caption showed us a few whales, but he didn’t say when to look. I barely went to the beach. 2 days of fun on my once in a lifetime trip we’re ruined because they didn’t have an alternative port. It was also cold in Kauai. The dining was okay. The foods were similar every night. They had some variety Asian food a roasted pig one night which I didn’t like. They had salads. I liked the hamburgers, grilled chicken, spaghetti and the pizza a little. They didn’t have sugar frosting on the cake. I almost spit out the cake frosting. The ice cream was nice. The service was great. The servers got your plates right away. It was hard to find a table when they trapped everyone on the ship. The cleaning lady was the only really good thing. She cleaned our room twice a day and waited until we were out. She helped my Mom with the room. She was super nice and friendly. The entertainment was okay. We only found two shows we liked on one day trapped on the ship. Only one show the 2nd day. They made us listen to this big thing at the end of the show saying how great their staff were. Their staff weren’t bad accept for the captain trapping us. But I really didn’t care for their celebration and telling us to come back when they were horrible. They had nice hot tubs. The pool was cold. But you couldn’t use the pool or hot tub when everyone was trapped and crammed on the ship. They had a big chess game and ping pong. But the ping pong tables were where you entered the buffet. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a 25th anniversary trip and a way to see more of Hawaii. We stayed in Honolulu a couple of days before the cruise to explore and the town was under alot of construction, no clean sandy beaches to be found and left alot to be desired when it came to finding quality food choices, not a burger. Emabrkation was great and smooth. The ship itself is old. We had a balcony on the 9th floor and the railing were not varnished but old and peelng with splinters. It looked like the balcony hadn't been touched in years with the railings and lack thereof any paint. Compared to other balcony rooms on various other ships this was by far the smallest. Horrible cafeteria style food, tour excursions were lacking. Overall horrible experience. Never again. It was not worth the money that it was paid for. The shore excursions on the "on your own" day took us to an outlet mall with stateside shops. Nothing was mentioned in the description at all about this. Every other shop was either jewelry or clothes. Please explain 7 hours of that. Next tour we had a guy leading the tour that complained about his living conditions, being on unemployment, complaining that the cruise ships werent as busy, and basically blaming all on the consumer. We wanted a tour of what we were seeing, so who knows what we passed by. Hilo was great though. Great coffee shop and it shipped. Big plus. 2 nights in Maui was too much. There wasn't enought to do to justify that kind of stay. In fact I overheard the checkin security say when we got back all but about 200 passengers were already back on board. Our next tour to Kona was by far one of the best. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny and actually took time for us. The luau show was good, not great and definately not worth what was paid for it. Overall the shore excursions were repeats and overpriced. Food. Whole new topic. Standard cafeteria fare, cold without variety. In the main dining rooms at night, what we saw on night 1 we resaw on night 3 or 4 just in a different way. Ordered NY strip medium that came out about 1/8 thick and so hard and cold it was inedible. Our server Zach was great though. The desserts had film on them from sitting out and not covered, got a totally raw hamburger on the deck one night and the tea was nasty. The shows were very ameturish with off key songs and I will give them a b for effort but that is also pushing the envelope.I have never been so glad to finish a vacation in my life. Overpriced, overhyped and recommend you forego the ship and go on your own or go on another cruise line. Been on many ships and this is absloutely the worse ever Read Less

My family chose this cruise as a small family ruinion. We all live in areas that are cold in the winter so we thought a beautiful warm place would be a great way to spend Christmas together. Unfortunately we chose Norwegian which turned out to be a terrible decision. When trying to find out specifics of dinner packages, things I could request be done to my cabin, or just specific questions about the ship, I was met with a complete lack of knowledge or contradictory information from the call center representatives. A joke that I thought was funny before the cruise, but that should have been a red flag because when I asked my questions at guest services I was told “we don’t know.” The day we got to Hawaii we were sent emails saying that due to mantainance we wouldn’t be leaving port for an extra day; unfortunately that extra day we were stuck on Oahu meant my wife and I were not going to be able to go on our whale watching excursion which was one of the biggest draws to this cruise. When I got on board and talked to guest services about this they said it was corporates decision to do this planned maintenance, so they couldn’t do anything about it. They gave me a number to corporate which I called and was told they won’t do anything for me until the cruise was over, so when I asked what I was supposed to do since guest services said it’s not their responsibility and now corporate is saying we won’t do anything while I am on the cruise I was told they didn’t know what I should do because they can’t help me. When I tried to praise someone for doing an exceptional job an employee at the guest services desk gave a rude response when I asked about how to go about praising the employee. The food that comes with the cruise was incredibly bland and when we went to the specialty restaurants we were pretty disappointed. The only one we enjoyed was Cagney’s Steak House, the rest were just as bad as the regular restaurants. At one point during the second day, all the toilets on board would not flush for about two hours. Talk about a Sri my nightmare!! The public toilets were always out of order, and the ship seemed to be in pretty bad shape for being refurbished in 2016. Upon entering our stateroom, we found the room to be dusty with multiple hairs on the pillows and on the bed linens. I plan to never take a Norwegian cruise again and hope this post helps someone avoid going with such a poorly run cruise line. Read Less

Make sure you know, this is a ship to see the islands, but there is nothing to do on the ship, the entertainment is so weak, compared to other ships we have been on, you go to visit the destinations, then look forward to great dinners /entertainment on the ship, not on this ship, the islands were great, then you get back on the ship, and there is nothing to do, and food is not anything to look forward to...and shows , entertainment/bars are boring...The only saving grace was John in the Pink Champagne bar, he was a great piano player, and Dan the waiter was so friendly to us. The Newlywed show was the only show worth going to, that was funny, but every other night in the Margi Gras was just the crew dancing and singing to each other, it was pathetic. I would not recommend this ship to anyone! Could not wait to get off the ship... Read Less

I booked 4 cabins for my 3 sons, their wives, my 4 year old granddaughter, and myself. We were on an 8th floor with balcony room. We purchased the pre-cruise one night hotel package at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. We were talked into a $50 upgrade, which wasn't worth it. Pre-cruise, we called several times to ask about the dining package, the post cruise airport transfer, and a charge that was not correct. They did take care of the charge, but every time we called about excursions or the dining package, they gave different answers, or "wait till you get on the ship". They didn't have anymore answers on the ship, either. While we were at the hotel, per-cruise, we were informed that although we would be getting on the ship as scheduled, we would be staying in Honolulu an extra day. That did away with one of the days in Maui - a day that we had two very nice excursions planned. They refunded our money for the excursions, and gave us a $100 pp on board credit, but their excuse for this was that the ship needed "routine maintenance". Let's see, routine maintenance means to me that it is planned and you know months ahead that it is going to happen - not 2 days. That was a huge disappointment. My granddaughter loved the kids program. Every day when being dropped off, the staff was reminded that she was allergic to dairy and nuts. It was also in her paperwork and on her wrist band. One afternoon, the staff decided to give her ice cream. She ended up in the ship emergency room. The food is tasteless and bland, and often cold. Some left questions of what is it. The turnover cabin crew did a horrible job. There was stickiness all over the desk of my cabin and I don't think the floor was ever vacuumed. The worst of it was the Transfer from the ship to the airport. My group had signed up for the Grand Circle Island Tour. Our bus had no air conditioning and was cut short by the bus switch. The guide, Kalei, from Polynesian Tours was rude, knowledgeable, disrespectful, and verbally attacked me for no reason. Read Less

Hated this nightmare. This was a waste of money. NEVER again on Norwegian anywhere ever again. We wasted all this money for the trip of a lifetime... and, it was one problem or disappointment after the other. Everything was bad... The food NEVER met our expectations as we'd previously had with other Cruise Lines... One huge disappointment. The Shows? We walked out numerous times. What a waste of time! Great Shows on other Cruise Lines, but, not on this NCL... It felt as if they hired the least talented, cheapest... The excursions were very expensive and were a huge let down. What can you do on the ship? You can sit at the Library and play cards, or play pin-pong... The workers...... were not focused on making us comfortable. There was a huge element of superiority... Pretentious behavior............ We'd call to reserve a table and would be told that they did not have anything available. We'd show up and there would be plenty of tables available. WHY this pretentious game? No High Tea. Never found any Mini Golf. If there was, we never found it. They ruined the vacation by rummaging through my luggage and confiscating the wine and champagne. BUT, I had phoned NCL prior to packing to make sure that it was allowed. I was told yes, 1 bottle per person. NOW, they took it and wanted to charge us $15.00 per bottle............. We said NO, and got our wine at the end of the trip. In the rummaging process, they broke my hanger, broke my watch, messed up my clothes, threw powder on everything, and lost the wires to recharge the phone, camera and video camera. No shorts, clothes or bathing suit............. We just kept looking for my luggage. Whole day wasted. The next morning, we went ashore to buy a new phone charger. Could not use the video after day 1, and same thing happened with the camera after 5 days............ NO soap or paper to wash hands at any of the Excursions. You want germs............. You go ashore and it is a rusty, old, metal, warehouse looking place. Nothing seemed clean, or pretty......... No pride. The Buffet was good. Our room was way too tiny... TV was tiny in the left corner. They have a Mini Bar......... so, they lock it the last night of your trip, so, if you have ulcers and need milk........ NO fridge. We'd rather have a fridge than a Mini-Bar.......... We'd NEVER spend money on a Mini-Bar............... Room Service on other Cruises, is free. NCL... $7.95 per order, per person. Half a glass of wine at Dinner........... $11.11.......... They automatically add a tip $1.79. We spoke to others who had been on this Cruise....... NOW they finally admit that it had been awful, and that they hated it. WHY did they not warn us? "They did not want to ruin our trip." Well, it is a bad, overpriced trip. We hated almost all of it............... Little details... Puddles on the floors, slippery floors, taking dishes away too soon, closing the shades when we sit by the windows......... FILTHY windows almost everywhere. Some people complained that they did not have a working bathroom and had to go way outside of their room............. Our bathroom worked, so, I guess that is one plus on that side. The balcony was smaller than the other Cruise Lines. NO alarm clock.......... With them breaking my watch, and NO clock in the room........... that left me always asking the time............ Save your money. The Ship itself was not fancy. It was antiquated. The Excursions... were overpriced with not much of anything to see or do... We are extremely turned off by NCL......... We had sailed numerous times with other Cruise Lines, so we had extremely high expectations for a fabulous Voyage... and were let down by NCL, in all directions. They should give us back our money. We did complain to NCL...with a very LONG letter.......... They don't care. We're back home. We already have our next Cruise booked, with Carnival. Read Less

This was a beautiful cruise from the standpoint of getting off the ship and sightseeing on our own. We generally rented a car everyday and had a wonderful time sightseeing and adventuring out on our own. Oh, by the way, we had a lot more freedom and it was so much LESS expensive than booking an excursion through the cruise line! Generally, I was most unimpressed with NCL. I have sailed with a couple of other cruise lines and NCL is quite sub par compared to others. In fact, I will not cruise with NCL again! We missed a major portion of the beauty of Hawaii on the trip from Kauai to Honolulu (the Napali Coast) due to ship repairs while in Kauai. NCL gave everyone very little notice and a $100 shipboard credit, not nearly substantial enough to cover an excursion of the Napali Coast if you decided to do it yourself, and most tours were already booked. The dining room hours (NCL promotes their open dining policy as being unique) was poorly administered and confusing to everyone. The food and service, to say the least, was poor. It's like since they are the only cruise line that sails Hawaii, NCL only makes the minimal effort in regard to service and quality. Read Less

Even people I didn't know sent them back. Another night we had some other beef special and it was worse and they were all sent back. I found th service with mostly american workers was not good. The best way to describe the cruise is CHEAP in so many ways Entertainment was horrible, they would give you no more than an hour show and then try to sell your their cd. I remember when shows were good. You would think on an Hawaiian cruise you would have at least one Hawaiian shoe No transportation help at the piers, long long walks just to get away from the ship This will be my last NCL cruise. Talking with friends that had been on cruise, thought it would be a great way of seeing the hawaiian islands. i had trouble finding anything to eat for lunch & dinner, breakfast was ok. Ate mostly in the alhoa cafe as the two other waiter service restaurants we had access too only had 1item on th menu that i could eat. Deserts were great, but you cant live on deserts for 7 days. Celebrated a birthday on board, gave the waitress on th night slip from birthday card that was in room as instructed, nothing happened yet we had heard and seen birthday celebrations with other guests on board. Room was small. Really feel we could have island hopped by plane, had accommodation/meals and tours for the same price or less than it cost for the cruise. Will not fbe recommending this cruise to people you like to have seafood and some plain food that does taste like rubber. Read Less

We were there during the hurricane cruise... ...SO you know this has happened before, stocked up the fuel for possible 14 days at sea ,so hoefully food too...bot their 1st hurricane So what to do...theater plays 1 movie a day Go play mini golf ...big line up wait 30 minutes..then its xlosed down ..staff has to fo else where Go play table tennis tournament...poorly run . No structure...ah u play him see what happens Go play a water balloon toss ...nope cant ..they only have 15 water ballons...turn away people...and watch as they toss balloon and can only get about 8 feet apart at most ... Go in the pool ..no wait there are 10 people in it ...just stand there OH THIS IS GOOD TOO...2 days into the hurricane avoidance cruise the Captain makes his apology on the intercome...for all the inconveniences we put up with..i guess people were giving him a hard time ...its around 250 dollars a day for internet a.d we are now around 300 miles off shore ...and we need to change plans...hotels ..car rentals and let loved ones know we are ok ....so his apology ends with a big BUT...and rhen he calls us all whiners...and we should be happy we are not on shore being hit by the hurricane ...and the suffering the islanders are going through..seriouly...im on a ship at sea and im thinking is this captain Italian...apologies with a but...i bet his wife if he has one, knows how he is... We chose this ship because it was the only one that was supposed to dock at multiple islands. This was our first visit to Hawaii and thought it would be a great way to take it all in. Let me start out by saying this is an older ship, probably taken out of service from Caribbean cruises. The pools are tiny (too small for 2000 people), the hot tubs are all in need of repair( one was empty the whole trip). The main theater, The Hollywood Theater, we (there was six in our party) renamed, The Pain in the Butt Theater. The seats are so uncomfortable you can sit still for ten minutes tops before you have to shift around. There is no drink packages due to Hawaii's state law. That gave NCL the right to ask whatever they wanted to for a drink. $40 for a six pack of beer, mandatory tip added in, even though we would pick it up at the bar. That $40 is for buy 5 bottles get one free. On shore at the ABC Store its $8.99 a six pack but you can't bring it on the ship. Nothing is free, not even a little water bottle, nothing is discounted. The food in the restaurants is average, same food as you get in the buffet. Unfortunately we were cruising when Hurricane Lane was getting close. NCL's brilliant idea was to take us out to sea for 4 days with no way of contacting our families that we were ok. I asked the Guest Service Rep to connect me to NCL's corporate offices so I could speak to someone with the authority to turn the wifi on for the passengers to use or turn on the satellite phones. My request was denied. They had no idea how to handle an emergency situation. All our families were seeing is what they were watching on the Weather Channel. After what I assume was pressure from the passengers they finally agreed to comp us a 1/2 hour of WiFi. My wife was in tears for 3 days. We only docked at two islands early in the trip, even though our UBER driver when we got back said it hardly rained in Honolulu. The staff seems all new and not happy. I saw many supervisors snapping at the young staff. A dinner meal in the dining room will take you 2 hours start to finish. There is a sex discriminating dress policy in the dining room, men must wear sleeved shirts but women don't. This will be our last NCL cruise. Please save your money. Fly into Hawaii and take excursions from there, cruising is a waste of your hard earned money. Read Less

AVOID THIS CRUISE AT ALL COSTS!!! Especially if you are a seasoned cruiser. I have been on six prior cruises (Royal Caribbean and one Carnival). This was my first experience with Norwegian and I was very disappointed. The food was TERRIBLE. And the service in the Skyline dining room was awful. It took two hours for my family of five to eat dinner. The waiters were not personable and did not try to get to know us or interact with us. Most of the workers were rude or simply seemed annoyed to do simple tasks. The entertainment was lacking and the comedian was mediocre at best. Hawaii itself was beautiful and the cruise was a great way for us first timers to get to see a lot of the islands, but the lack of good food and service made the price tag on this cruise definitely not worth it. It was obvious that most of the workes hated their jobs, and I heard from several workers that there is a high turnover rate. There unhappiness was very obvious. Now, I will say the bar staff was great! They were the only ones who made our time on the ship worthwhile. They took the time to remember our names and were always friendly. I love cruising Royal Caribbean and the food is always good. I am hoping other Norwegian cruises have their act together, but this cruise has deterred me from ever wanting to book another Norwegian cruise. This ship does not make America proud! Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was a last minute decision and the only one going to Hawaii on the date that I needed. I will NEVER AGAIN sail with Norwegian. Many of the staff members are not only not very friendly, but downright rude — they argue back with their passengers. I encountered this not only myself but was witness to others, too. The elevators were another issue. There are thousands of passengers on board, but there are only seven elevators. Worst of all, they are so slow that I ended up just using the stairs. Norwegian also does not provide free WiFi. What institution in this time and day does not allow free WiFi? So I thought, okay, I don’t need their WiFi because I’ll just use my cellular data. Nope! They prevent you from using yours so that we have to purchase theirs. Norwegian also charges you a mandatory tip of 20% for all additional services from cleaning your room, buying drinks, room service, etc. Due to this MANDATORY tip, the staff feel no need to be extra good to their guests. For just choosing to sail with Norwegian, I had to dole out an additional $650 that was my automatically charged to my account regardless of whether I chose to get my room cleaned or not or whether their staff treated me well or not. Food is another issue. Overall, it’s mediocre at best. The breakfast buffet at Aloha Cafe was acceptable, but lunch was horrible. Dinner was exactly the same whether one dined at Liberty, the one that requires that all adults wear long pants or the Skyline, the one that allows complete casual wear. ALL of their pastries crumbled under my fork for some reason and the many of the foods were too salty for my taste. While on the ship, there was nothing to do. The only activity worthwhile for me were the lei making classes. The two pools that they had next to each other were too tiny that they resembled jacuzzis. Finally, my cabin’s restroom continued to smell of urine whether it was cleaned or not. It seemed that it might have been coming from the drains. The public restrooms in the men’s room didn’t have toilet liners. Read Less
